During times of COVID and the restaurant was not that full at all. The Owner sat me and another guy in a booth by the kitchen. Then right as we got our food, she brought in a family of 5 with small kids and sat them right next to us. There were several other booths open, at least 4 that she could have set them in, and several on the other side of the restaurant. I am not blaming the family at all; the owner should space the customer out. I confronted her about this and all she could say was, (while getting attitude with me) this is your first time here, right? I said yes, she said Well this is our policy, and I am sorry YOU feel this way. I said I guess it will be my last time here. I see in other post where the owner is rude. First time here and all I can say is that it was AMAZING. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left everything was great. I visited this place last Sunday for brunch since it's right by my place but I never thought twice about dining here. So I gave it a try and love it! Chubby's is the quintessential diner. I have been dinning at Chuby's for years, and the word that most sums it up is consistency. Though my dining experiences have mostly been for breakfast, Chubby's has a full menu served all day long. You can get dinner/ lunch for breakfast or breakfast for dinner. The coffee (not boutique/ flavored) is very good, served hot, and the cup never runs out. The serving portions are plentiful. You will not leave hungry! Breakfast is the standard flare, no real surprises. I would recommend the Breakfast Tacos. They are one of my go to items. The French Toast is also very good. Yes the clientele usually leans towards the older crowd, yet don't let that stop you for dinning here. They have the best chicken fried steak and pancakes...OMG their pancakes are excellent. There are 4 locations in the DFW area and you get a ton of food for the price. Yes, some of the locations do have some older clients but why knock a restaurant for that...it is a great value and some elderly people live on very strict means...they have to eat somewhere. Went today for my weekly Chicken Fried Steak Told the waitress I wanted a Texas Sized Chicken Fried Steak, cream gravy on the side, two other vegetables, TWO rolls, a spoon, and a straw. When my order arrived, it was obvious it was a regular sized portion. I brought it to her attention and she said she didn't hear me order the big one. I said, I did, and would like the other piece, along with a roll, a straw, and a spoon. She comes walking back after 7-8 minutes with another piece of steak drowned in cream gravy and just when she sets it down says, oh, you didn't want gravy, I told her I didn't want it prepared that way and to just forget it. Ten minutes later she dropped my check on the table and asked if I wanted anything else. I said yes, I would like my roll, spoon, and straw that I requested when I sat down. She just walked off. Don't be so age-ist about Chubby's. You can learn a thing or two from the older crowd...it's kinda fun and always packed... FOOD For all you greaser doubters, you need to try their greek salad with pita bread! It is out of this world good. The salad is zingy and fresh and comes with home made zatziki and pitta that is warm and toasted ..kinda like a bun-mmmm! You've got to try it. I occasionally go to Chubby's for there home style meals. The reason why I say occasionally is because Chubby's sounds like what it'll do to you haha. The food is unforgivingly unhealthy but so good. They serve traditional American meals like chicken fried steak, hamburgers, catfish, and even breakfast items. Each and every time I bring others with me to Chubby's they always enjoy the food. We went to Chubby's on Sunday morning with the goal of getting a greasy breakfast. We were not dissappointed. Everything, and I mean everything, is swimming in oil. I don't know what kind of oil, but it's there. Our fried eggs had little pools of it. The biscuits and gravy are good, but there is no sausage in the gravy - just lots of pepper and cream. The coffee is awful, but we weren't expecting much there. Service was good and attentive, pouring refills often. When you get eggs, they don't ask what kind of toast you want: there is only one kind. White. With lots and lots of Hygrodgenated Oil on top. All that said, if you want a greasy breakfast, go for it. It's probably great for a hangover cure! But another tip: the average age of the place is about 73. Don't expect things to be quick there. read more

Stopped here for lunch with the girlfriend on a business trip. It was busy but we were seated quickly. The girlfriend ordered the Gyro with fries, and I had the Big Mouth Club with a side salad. The food arrived about 15 minutes after we ordered it. My girlfriends fries were cold so the waitress said she would bring fresh ones right away, she had a new plate of hot fries within a couple of minutes. Her gyro was tasty, lots of meat, tomatoes, and onions, with a sauce on the side. My side salad was ok, mostly lettuce with a few diced tomatoes and croutons, I think the dressing was made on site, it was thick and chunky for 1000 Island. The club sandwich was decent, a good helping of meat with some lettuce and tomato mixed in. The food was on par with what you'd expect for a roadside diner, and the customer service was good. read more

The food had no favor and I had to salt everything which I normally don't do. 95% of the customers in there were 50+ so may that's the reason why the food was bland. The food and service reek of apathy. I have been several times for breakfast and lunch. The CFS was almost burnt and tasted like old oil, the fries are frozen and not hand cut, the waitress bought me frozen hash browns and blamed the kitchen. Is it not her job to deliver a quality product? The egg was cooked as requested and I did have a marginally decent patty melt. This is a great family style restaurant and their food is a very simple, but delicious. There is a variety of American styled items along with seafood as well. Their fried catfish is delicious. There are a few Greek cuisine items as well with the Chicken Souflaki being excellent. Their vegetable soup is superior along with their navy bean, chicken enchilada, and I understand their loaded potato soup as well. Their homemade pies and cakes are delicious as well. Their prices are in line with other places of this type and one can enjoy a very good meal here. So I had to go into Dallas today for a wake for my late close uncle. We had all of our family there to spread his ashes in town and afterwards someone had scheduled for us to have lunch in their special room so we could all talk about my uncle and such. We arrive and I felt, as a young adult.... like I had walked into a retirement home. Not a soul was under the age of 75 with the exception of quite a few of us out of towners in the family. I sat down and hoped that the food was good after casually viewing a dessert case with an assortment of mini pies. Our server, who never introduced herself was what I expected. The other waitress for our second table seemed to be mad at the world. There were about 19 of us and we were very patient...so she had nothing to be upset about. We all place our orders in order to help as they tell us, "make it easier to bring everything out in order." Our meals DID not arrive in order... in fact, many of the meals were incorrect, the servers took them back to be fixed rather than just bringing out the mashed potatos or whatever they forgot..... There were about 3 of us at our table whose meals came out about 20 minutes after everyone elses meals had come out. It seemed as if someone had forgotten about us. The snotty long black haired hispanic (reference for yourself if you have to deal with her in the future) brought out what she thought was my meal.... then she starts to curse when I tell her its mine, but she insists that it HAS to belong to someone else who is already eating their meal.... She takes my plate back into the kitchen.... and then my waitress comes back about 10 minutes later with the same plate as well as my side plate of mashed potatos. You can tell this was the same plate she had out before... I ordered French Dip and the meat was cold, the Aus Jus was cold and my fries were beyond cold. I ate the french dip because I was starving and with the drive back to Austin, at this point I had to take whatever I could get.... Everyone else was done with their meals... I ate the sandwich, but couldnt muster myself to eat the fries or the mashed potatos.. I was highly disappointed. When the waitress took my plate, she asked why I didnt finish it and I told her it came out cold.... We were NEVER asked if we wanted dessert, the tickets were just dropped on the table and it seemed as if we were just escorted out... For a group that was larger and patient who had money to spend, we would have thought we would have been taken better care of. Good Luck to you Chubby's. Good place for greasy spoon favorites and breakfast. The crowd is varied: large families with many kids, seniors, etc. I wouldn't go here for a quick meal. Most of the staff seems tired and barely able to smile. There are no friendly faces when you first come in or when you pay your bill. The wait staff varies in attentiveness. Their pancakes are great, we always choose the banana strawberry ones as dessert topped with whipped cream. To date i haven't tried anything i don't like. We visited it today, after our friends told us it was a great place. We were very dissaponted, the food was very bad. My hash browns were the worse I ever had no taste and very greasy.
