A friend and I met today, and after taking care of some personal business, we chose Chuck a Rama for a meal and some conversation. We were so glad to be out During this worldwide pandemic, and received very very flavorful and well cooked food. Our customer service experience at the Draper, Utah location was excellent. Even at that time of day it was crowded, but not crowded enough that people could not find a seat. Went there for my sons birthday party. They are very good and helpful there. Was up to standards with being safe during covid. Our server was right on and was on top of everything (Nikki) and the manager was awesome as well I didn't get his name but he was able to help me for my sons birthday dinner. Literally, haven't been to a Chuck-a-Rama since I was a teen! So not that long ago. *wink wink* Since I was in town visiting my mom and younger sibs, we decided to have dinner here. I must say, I have never been to this location before. I walked through the door and into a waiting area and then proceeded to the register. The host will eventually give you a receipt (proof of purchase) to place on the table of your choice. There are about three rooms for seating large or small parties. The food area is in the center of the restaurant so no matter where you sit, you can easily get to the food. The mirrors in the food area trick you to thinking the room is bigger than appears. Don't be fooled! The staff is friendly and waiters are consistently asking if we need anything and clearing plates off the tables. The food was ok but I'm sure everyone can agree that they come to Chucks for the dinner rolls and scones! Literally, can't think of anything else they serve here. Of course people come for the buffet just in general! The price is reasonable and there is plenty of parking so bring the fam too! read more

We came here for Mother's Day dinner. We where surprised to only have to wait 10 minutes to get to register. After a short wait we were seated. The selection of food was great. Everyone found something they love. Even if something was empty, by the time we wondered back to it, it was refilled. The wait staff had our drinks refilled in a timely manner and regularly cleared empty plates. Some of the thing we enjoyed the most was, they have both Pepsi and Coke products along with Icee in three flavors for the kids. The sticky buns where the overall best thing that we had. Would recommend this establishment to any one who has picky people in their family. There is definitely something for everyone. My wife and I are at the beginning of a 30 day RV excursion of some Western states. We stopped in SLC on our way to Yellowstone and decided to go to an aquarium. We were looking for something an Uber ride away and this popped up. Being from Vegas where virtually NO buffets are open (under $75.00 a person) we were excited. We arrived at the tail end of the lunch menu & you would have never guessed. Everything was fresh and only a couple of items empty. There was delicious coconut shrimp, manicotti, braised cod, fried & bbqd chicken & more. FRESH salads & fruits and lots of yummy deserts. The servers wear masks and they ask non vaccinated guests to but I understand that Utah has no mask mandates so it was about half & half. All in all a nice place for a family or couple to eat! read more

Surprisingly enjoyable buffet, as they offered many many choices and some items not usually seen on a buffet line ~ large chunks of dark meat turkey and large dish of dressing. Clean and easily viewed, lots of fresh salad options and extras. Price is good for what they offer and busy, busy busy. Seating areas seemed dark and somewhat bare, not too relaxing. Dessert options were quite limited in comparison to the rest of the buffet, no pie of any kind to be found, minimal cake options but they did have creamy rice pudding.....so I guess all is forgiven! I said 'surprisingly enjoyable buffet' at the start of this review as we were invited there.....the name "Chuck-A-Rama" does not entice me or make me think this is somewhere I must go! Guess it is familiar name in Salt lake City and perhaps Utah so I shouldn't be such a name snob! Lesson learned! read more

The food was ok, more salad selections than actual main course faire. The biggest reason for the low score was the absolute horrible service. It was our first time warring here. We were never told if we sat ourselves or not. Then the service staff would cut in front of you to fill there own beverages at the beverage machine. We were there near closing and they vacuumed under our table as we sat and ate our dinner until we told them not to. We never even met our waitress until half way through our meal. Most of the waitstaff has we were there the entire time hung out in the dinning room laughing and joking the whole time. All I can say is wow, I'm not sure how the general manager has a job with that type of service going on. read more

Chuck-A-Rama is about as middle-of-the-road as you can get. They serve a little of everything and do it reasonably well. The salad bar is always nicely stocked and the kids love their dessert bar. The theme nights (where their featured entrees change according to the day of the week) are generally good, but if you don't like Oriental Tuesday (I didn't think any of their Asian food was particularly great) there's still plenty of other stuff to fill you up. In town in business and missed breakfast so I did come hungry. That said I started with a full plate of salad and it was fresh and delicious. Then I had green beans and carrots and a fried chicken leg. All great. I tried the fried fish and so good. Tartar sauce is some of the best ever. I was there last week... paid and sit down waited for a couple minutes for my server, she never came by to check my ticket, asked if I needed a drink, or introduced herself.... she totally ignored me for the 25 min I was there.... she check the other tables but mine.... worse customer service.... I tried to talk to the manager, he was another kid... and of course the conversation didn't go anywhere.... so i left the restaurant with 3 dirty plates on the table that she never picked and no tip!!! Funny part of the story... chuck a Rama was my first job in 1992 in Orem.... And we used to provide excellent customer service and full full restaurants every day.... these kids that run these places now!! They don't understand what customer service is. I was surprised when I came here the first time at how good the food was. I typically do not like buffets because I want my food made for me. I don't enjoy the crowds of,people wandering around filling their plates of food, and any time someone sneezes I cringe at the thought of contamination. I will only come here when we are bringing the kids out to eat because they enjoy it so much! They love the variety of foods, drinks, and desserts. Worst customer service ever. Extremely rude staff and when I spoke to the manger about the issue, She was horrible and actually said "are you done ma'am". We had a party of 25 people. This group of 25 people used to go for birthdays to celebrate. Needless to say NONE of us will ever go there again. Also called corporate and left a name with my number to discuss the issue. This was my first time eating here. I went on a Thursday so it was Mexican food. I'm not a fan but I figured it was other stuff to eat. I was highly disappointed. I won't be returning. If this is a Utah staple, then I feel bad for people that enjoy this buffet. The only meat choices was chicken and even when they brought out fresh, it was dry. The quality of food is what you'd expect from any buffet- the usual. Nothing special. There was no line to be seated at around 1pm on a Saturday- that was a plus. However, we did have to seat ourselves (3 adults, 3 kids). My only major complaint would be the service- which seems to be a trend at this specific location. A short story first. One day my husband damaged his arm pretty badly, and we had to spend several hours in the ER. Moreover, his sugar level had dropped low, so on our way back home we had to stop at this restaurant to eat. It was almost 9 PM, but everybody there were so sweet and helpful to us! They made sure everything from the buffet was on the tables for us to make choice, and our waiter helped my husband to fill his plates ( he could not do that well with just one hand). I have pretty low food safety expectations from buffets in general, but the entire time we were there the cart holding salad bar items sat out. In addition, as the woman emptied out the containers, she set the dirty ones with dirty towels DIRECTLY ONTOP OF THE NEW ONES! Super disappointing. Came here with my family and we all agreed that we would not be coming back. The waiters were wonderful and we had great service, but that's as good as it got. The food was very mediocre. I started off with a salad with caesar dressing and croutons. The salad was extremely watered down I could hardly taste the dressing, which was not caesar by the way. The sign said caesar but it was oriental dressing. I couldn't even eat the croutons because they were incredibly stale. The fries were soggy. The orange chicken tasted like it was drenched in pineapple juice. I mean, I could go on and on! I honestly have nothing good to say! Even if something tasted good, there was just something... off. Went there this weekend. It's pretty good for the price. You get a lot of food and it doesn't taste like your typical buffet. The food isn't made to order so don't expect that it will taste gourmet or anything. The kettle roasted turkey and rolls are the best part of what they have to offer. The turkey has a nice southern taste to it and I'd worth a taste. They make it in a broth so by the time you eat it's so tender and melts in your mouth. I'm all about the salad bar. The other food I could do without but when I'm looking for a salad bar, I'll always consider Chuckarama.
