Just had dinner here and it was so good! The quality of meat was amazing and a lot better compared to other places. The service here was amazing, always asking if we wanted to order more meat, and was very attentive when we needed help.

If you see this sign, that is the sign to go there for a really good KBBQ experience.

Finding a good Korean bbq in the Garden Grove area is like a needle in a haystack because there is an abundance of KBBQ restaurants in the area. Doing the appropriate Yelp research can sometimes land you a diamond in the rough find. Since I knew we would be in this area, Chung Dam looked interesting because they have a happy hour special which at first I was not clear how it worked, but when we arrived, the one woman team explained how it worked, and we right away selected our meats and off on our own to the well stocked and great variety self served Ban Chan buffet. Honestly, just that alone, you can get full and be satisfied with it, but you go to a KBBQ for the meats. With the HH menu, there's a limited selection of meats, but our go to are Brisket, beef belly and pork belly. As I mentioned the one woman team for the front of house staff, service was excellent. She single handedly took care of all tables bringing out meat orders, clearing tables and cashing people out, she honestly did better than some other restaurants we've been too with more staff. I definitely would come back here, but again only if I'll be in the area and it has to be during the Happy Hour time block

Big parking lot. We experienced friendly, attentive customer service, didn't even need to use the call button. Nice ambiance, although a casual atmosphere, I love the booth seating. Had such a wonderful dinner w the hubby! We were craving brisket, and opted for the lower tier menu price. Good price and quality. Dipping sauce is addicting. Self serve, all you can eat banchan. The banchan and kimchi soup, corn cheese, pretty solid! My favorite of the self serve fried appetizers were the fried spring rolls. We will definitely be returning here ! More pix next time! Sorry phone was left in the car :D

This is one of my go-to KBBQ places! I always get the gold menu because I feel like it's the most bang for your buck, but there's three tiers and a happy hour menu to choose from. All of the workers are welcoming and very attentive. I like how there are all the sides in the middle for us to grab ourselves. The only complaint I have about the interior is that circulation isn't that great, especially on a hot day. I don't know if they even have AC because the last time I went there, it was so hot that my whole family was sweating and they had a bunch of fans that seemed to be the only things keeping the temperature slightly down. For food, all the meats are delicious and high quality! My personal favorites are the beef belly, beef tongue, pork jowl, raw king ribs, and rib finger. There's a huge variety of sides, but minor complaint is that they charge extra for certain sides such as steamed egg. Other than that, all the hot sides are great, I love their cheese corn, and I also think the veggies are really fresh! I'll definitely be back because it's a solid spot and there usually is never a wait!

We celebrated our anniversary the only way true food lovers should: by aggressively grilling meat at Chung Dam Korean BBQ and calling it romance!! *Pro tip: checked in on Yelp, strutted in like VIPs, and only waited five minutes. Five!! That's basically winning the KBBQ lottery. *Parking is plenty, as the restaurant shares a huge lot with other stores. There are 4 menu tiers: Silver: $26.99 Gold: $36.99 Diamond: $58.99 Happy Hour: $21.99 We went Gold because we're loyal to our ride-or-die cuts: kalbi, finger ribs, brisket, and bulgogi. The meat quality? Absolutely fire!!!! The ribs were so tender and juicy every bite was oxytocin high!!! The brisket disappeared at an alarming speed. No regrets!! There's also a self-serve island of sides and garnishes, which is dangerous for someone like me who believes in "just one more scoop." The Korean fried chicken wings were tasty, crispy, criminally good!!! The japchae? Flavorful, slurpable perfection!! We left stuffed, glowing, and completely sated!! Plot twist: we loved it so much we came back the next day because apparently one anniversary dinner wasn't enough. Ryan, our server, remembered us (iconic behavior), welcomed us back, gave solid recs, and actually chatted with us like we were regulars already. Friendly service + elite meat = main character energy for the whole weekend. Would celebrate love & brisket here again!!! Definitely recommend if you're looking for good quality Kbbq in this area!!

This was our first time here bringing some of our friends from NorCal! I was actually trying to go to thirsty cow but the weight was one hour long and here was only five minutes for a Saturday night at 7 PM. Parking is great around the area since most of the other stores are closed. Service was fantastic as everyone was super attentive. I love that you're able to grab your own Banchan and other snacks so it saves the servers time. I'm all about efficiency. Everyone made you feel like home and it was a comfortable, relaxed, environment. Food: - Banchan - Potato was solid, kimchi and cucumbers were great, you can grab your own radishes - Meat - We ordered the diamond and it was nice being able to try everything. Beef belly was delicious. Tongue was tender. King rib was very cool. I've never seen that before. Short ribs were tender. Squid was marinated very nicely. Brisket and Pork jowl were awesome. Overall, we honestly had a great time here. Everything was very efficient and meat came out very fast. For speed and being able to grab all kinds of appetizers and fruit. We thoroughly enjoyed it all. I would definitely come back. 10/10.

I'm stunned I haven't tried this spot all this time! Located in GG, there are so many KBBQ options that you can easily miss this. I'm glad I tried it! My friends and I did the Gold Tier AYCE (~$36.99). We were STUFFED. The self serving area for sides was the best part. Definitely missing some key items I usually order, but it's still enough to keep me satisfied! The meats came out quick, and they were also good. The variety they have is enough for the price, but if you're looking for more then it may be worth for you to upgrade the tier.

We ended up at BBQ Chung Dam because our usual spot was packed. The good: no wait time, self serve bar with lots of options both hot and cold, service was quick, price was fair (happy hour 21.99) restaurant felt clean and spacious. The bad: some of the meat was a little dry and tough such as the brisket and some parts of the bulgogi, they didn't offer rice paper which is my favorite, they don't allow people to eat by themselves and we watched someone get turned away because of it which was a little awkward. Also be warned that if you have lots of leftovers the charge you full price for it so make sure to only order what you would eat. Overall if you're doing happy hour i say it's worth it but i wouldn't pay for their regular or premium menu because i think there's other spots around the area that are better.

My husband and I decided to try this Korean AYCE BBQ after watching Rockstar Eater's YouTube video featuring their LA Koreatown location. After checking their website, we found out that the Garden Grove location is actually the original one, so we decided to visit OC location. Parking was easy, which is always a plus. We visited on a Sunday evening around 7pm. It was busy, but the wait was reasonable and we were seated fairly quickly. This is an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant where you choose a tier- Diamond ($58.99), Gold ($34.99), Brown ($24.99), or Happy Hour ($19.99). We went with the Gold AYCE. Meats are ordered through the server, while side dishes are self-serve in the lobby area (self bar) . The layout is simple, table spacing is comfortable, and getting sides is very straightforward. Since this is the original location, I naturally came in with slightly higher expectations - partly because of the YouTube recommendation and also from friends who had positive experiences in the past. For us, the meat quality was decent and the selection felt a bit limited, but everything was prepared well and enjoyable. Service was a highlight. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to help, which definitely improved the overall experience. Overall, this is a solid AYCE Korean BBQ option in the Garden Grove area. While it didn't completely wow us, we still had a pleasant meal and would consider coming back for a casual BBQ outing. What can you do with $22 in SoCal? Hmm... a full fast-food combo? Or a quick car wash? Or-- enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet with 40+ options! Chung Dam BBQ's buffet goes above and beyond. Not just veggies, rice, and banchan-- they also have chicken wings, braised pork ribs, kimchi stew, and more And that's not even it! For the $22 happy hour, you get prime cuts like prime beef brisket & prime beef belly But we wanted something more royal, so we upgraded to the Diamond Tier King rib & short rib -- ultra-tender, buttery, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth good Highly recommend this spot for holiday meals or everyday cravings. If you been here you can def say chung DAMNNNNNNN, thats good!! BBQ Chung Dam was a great experience. The brisket stood out--super tender, well-marbled, and cooked perfectly on the grill. The self-serve banchan was another highlight with fresh kimchi, pickled veggies, and plenty of variety to pair with every bite. Great service and quality all around. Would absolutely return.

Brisket on the grill and beef belly on the plate. Both were yummy!

Happy hour lunch was $19.99 per person (it's only on Mon-Fri between 11:30am-3pm). Main meats from the kitchen are brisket, beef belly, and pork belly, and they were all good. My favorite of the three was the beef belly, especially since they were fatty and very thinly sliced. I tried honeycombed sliced pork and marinated abomasum from the self-serve bar, too. Sliced pork was tasty, especially dabbed with some salt. Abomasum was a tough chunk of organ meat that was interesting to try, but I wasn't a fan of the sweet, bulgogi-like marinade. Buffet bar had a variety of foods, like potstickers and fried rice. I sampled a braised rib, a sesame ball, and an onion ring to cleanse my palate from all the beef belly I was downing, and they were ok. Nothing made me want to to back for seconds, though. Standard banchan minus the radish paper, but I didn't ask if they had it. Sauces and condiments were provided at our table; it's nice to know that we could top ourselves off whenever. Interior was bright and clean, and thankfully not stuffy or sticky. Waitress was straightforward and helped us get right down to business for meat orders. She was also very attentive about grill changes and clearing away empty plates. We also got individually packaged vanilla ice cream cups after our meal, so that was much appreciated. Plenty of parking in this old Garden Grove plaza. I'd definitely come back for the happy hour lunch.

    Can you eat alone?

Sorry, but we kindly ask for a minimum of two guests per table.

    Are reservations necessary?

How much would it roughly be for a party of 7? I have a birthday dinner coming up and want to make sure it accommodates everyone, especially since we usually split the bill…

Roughly $330-$360 for middle option with tips included.

Will you bring back solo diners? I want to try this place but no one to go with 😩

Sadly I don't think so..better off going to gens or I can BBQ or Mr BBQ as they allow solo diners

I have 2 kids: 2 years old and 9 years old. How much is the price for them?

Two year old is complimentary and we charge full price over 9 year old.

    Is there a senior discount?

There is no senior discount at the moment

Can someone go by themselves or do you require at least two people to eat there?

We used to take solo diners however as of 11/1/2024 we are no longer accepting solo diners. We apologize in advance and thank you for understanding.

Do they have a corkage fee?

As of now, we are not taking outside alcoholic beverages.

    Pricing for children?

    Kids between 3-8 Diamond $38.99, Gold $24.99, Silver $19.99

Can 1 person do all you can eat option, or do you require 2 people minimum in a party?

We do take one person as well! $10 extra.

    Do they have lunch specials?

It's $5 off from the regular price!

Is there room for party of 10+?

Although we do not have private rooms, we do have very spacious dining spaces than can cover more than 20 guests.

Is this an AYCE KBBQ restaurant?

    yes!

Since it's tucked away in a residential area, I can imagine parking gets pretty tough if you aren't as lucky as we were. The line was long (it stretched out to the street!), but it moved surprisingly quickly. There are actually two lines, one for food and another just for drinks. There were five of us, so we ordered the 6 meats & 6 sides, and it was PLENTY of food. We got the brisket, tri-tip, burnt ends, beef ribs (Sunday only!), siu yuk, and sausage links. For sides, we chose the cornbread, shells & cheese (which was actually cavatappi lol), sesame slaw, spicy cucumbers, tallow fries, and pandan pudding. We also couldn't pass up the new tallow churros with ube dip, plus a pitcher of sangria for the table. Honestly, everything was absolutely delicious. I could write a paragraph about each dish, but this review would never end LOL. There's plenty of seating in the back, though the teepees were definitely the most sought-after spots. Considering the crowd though, I would send someone to save your group a spot while you wait in line. There's bar seating, picnic tables, high tables, etc. I also loved that Junbi is in the same compound if you're craving a sweet drink afterward. Can't rave about this place enough. The food coma nap that hit afterward was absolutely worth it.

Shoutout to the kind staff that watched me try to scarf down the food at the end and seeing a duo last longer than a party of 11 . I recommend going here late at night to try out their, now $23, AYCE from 10 p.m to 12 p.m and note that their last call is 11:30 p.m. Another thing is that you have to sign up on the waitlist via their tablet in-person, so come around 9:15 p.m if you're going with a large party and hit up the H-Mart across while waiting!

Sookdal is my favorite KBBQ spot when I wanna splurge or celebrate a special occasion! If you like…read morepork belly, you will love this place. Their pork dishes are DELISHHHH (i recommend skipping the beef brisket) and I love that they cook the meat for you so you can just DIG IN. Their meat is high quality which I think justifies the price. Combo A/B will feed 2 people and C/D/E is just enough for 3-4 people! I love the lil extra goodies they include like the pineapple, mushroom, and cheese... so yum.... For the combos, I prefer the kimchi stew over the soybean stew since the soybean is a little salty for me. Make sure to order the cold noodles too - they complement the meat SO WELL.

While we waited for the grill to get going, we snacked on the banchan. The pickled dishes and spring greens were especially refreshing and did a great job balancing out all the rich flavors to come. The highlight was definitely the meat. Everything was grilled perfectly and came out incredibly juicy, tender, and flavorful. What I loved most was how many different ways there were to enjoy each bite. You can dip the pork into the garlic oil sauce, add a little wasabi, pair it with the melted grilled cheese, wrap it with myeong yi, sprinkle on some salt, or simply enjoy the quality of the meat on its own. Every combination brought out a different flavor profile, so the meal never got repetitive. The soups were comforting and packed with flavor, making them a great complement to the barbecue. Overall, this was a really satisfying KBBQ experience. The quality of the pork stood out, the variety of accompaniments made every bite interesting, and the meal felt thoughtfully put together from start to finish. The restaurant was lively!

However, once we placed our order, a few more parties were seated. When the food came out, we were pleasantlysurprised that every dish was very tasty. I was craving Chinese skewers one and happened to stumble upon this place located in Garden Grove…read more We got the marinated beef skewers, pork belly, and chicken skin which were all really good. Each skewer came with decently sized portion, although some of it does shrink when cooking. Depending on which meat you order, some will take a while to cook (i.e chicken skin), so would plan according. Each meal comes with kim chi and radishes which paired well with our skewers. Overall, it was a good meal. Although they primarily specialize in skewers (including lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and vegetables) there's also main dishes you can order such as dry spicy hot pot, fried rice, and stir fry beef udon. The generally vibe inside probably leans towards large group outings where you order soju or sake with some friends and just have a good time. However, it also a good place to bring family or kids and just enjoying watching the skewers rotate on the grill. The service here was good and the skewers came out pretty quickly. I could see myself coming back here again.
