JangTu is a very authentic traditional family style Korean restaurant, whenever we visited we always feel like we are Korea. The staff are very friendly and services are quick, If you want to come here for lunch make sure you come here either early or late because they get crowed around noon time.

Been wanting to try out this restaurant for a while and it did not disappoint. The beef soup is tasty with generous amount of tender beef. The plate of Jokbal and modum soondae is perfectly boiled (or is it steamed) with a good mix of meat and internal organs. Service is prompt. The place is not that big so expect to wait a bit during busy lunch/dinner hours. Will go back there to try their stew dishes.

Found this restaurant on Yelp and decided to try it since I was in the area. I went there around 11:15 and there were already several tables filled. By the time I left around 12:30, there was a line outside. Almost all the patrons eating there speaker Korean so you know the place is authentic. It's a small restaurant with one side of the wall stacked with supplies. People chatted happily while eating. I ordered the goat soup. It was delicious with tender pieces of meat and a nice kick to it. The banchan included kimchi, radish, warm tofu and bean sprouts. The servers were quick and friendly. I would definitely come back to try the other dishes.

3.5 stars for a solid hole in the wall Korean spot. You know it is authentic with there is a line on the door on a weekday, and all the clientele are Korean. I would get the yuk gae jangagain - yummy and chock full of veggies, but the Ramen dish we got was a little too sweet. The waitresses were all Korean ajummas. One of them was very cute and insisted my friend wear an apron even though she initially declined because she was wearing a white sweater and we were eating very red spicy soup. I would definitely come back to try some of their other dishes, the rice dishes were enormous, serving part two in a hotpot they bring to your table, looked amazing!

For decades, Jangtu has been a well-known family-owned Korean restaurant in this area specializing in soondae (blood sausage). One can tell how authentic a restaurant is based on its customers. My wife and I went at 11:15 am, and grandmothers and grandfathers were waiting in line. When we got seated, the busyness and conversation inside we're comforting. My wife commented that dining here brought her back to her childhood in Korea. We always come here for our soondae and soondae guk stew. In the past we had their dak galbi, cold noodles, yukgaejang, pancakes, and so on. The customer service is excellent. They have been so kind and polite. Refilling our side dishes periodically. Parking has been challenging lately, with increased foot traffic from neighboring stores. I remember 10+ years ago when this plaza was more quiet and empty.

Love the soondae here- always juicy and hits the spot. If you have never tried soondaeguk because you're wary of smell, I'd say this is a good first shot! I used to not eat this before either, but I enjoy theirs here and haven't been weirded out by the smell of taste :)

Food (4/5) For our party of three, we ordered the haemul pajeon and the Yum So Jungol (spicy goat stew with veggies in hot pot). It was more than enough, we could have done without the seafood pancake. If you ask for rice with your soup, they will make a fried rice with your leftover rice and soup - great ending to the meal. The Yum So Jongol had a lot of meat in it and was perfectly spicy and seasoned. I usually don't like eating too much crown daisy but it was a great accompaniment to the flavor of the stew and goat meat. The Haemul Pajeon was good, but not that crispy. The side dishes were really good and they also did a good job with refills. Price (5/5) Seafood pancake $20.99 and the Yum So Jongol was $47.99, which is really reasonable. It could feed a party of three which is a great deal. Wait Time (4/5) We came here around 130pm on a Sunday and waited ~45 mins. Luckily there's a market in the plaza so we did some browsing. They don't have a notification system so just be mindful of the time and be back before they call your party. Service (4/5) Honestly for Korean ajuumas (no hate!!), their service was very attentive and respectful. We originally were going to order another entree which our server dissuaded against (and thankfully she did). Ambiance (3/5) It's clean but it's more of a casual establishment. There's a wall with takeout containers on one side of the restaurant. Parking/Access (5/5) Located in a strip mall, there's plentiful parking even with the busy market next door. Overall, this is a very authentic Korean restaurant with big portions. I personally likely would not be back often due to the distance and portion size. I also need to be in the right mood for it haha

Perfect service, perfect food and always a delight to be here. This time we had their seafood pancake which was just so delicious and our go to kimchi jjigae. Everything was delicious. The banchans are also always amazing!!! Highly recommend!!!

This was a super unique Korean food experience! We tried the modum soondae dish which had pork liver, tongue, stomach, and blood noodle sausage. I believe this was to be paired with a gochugaru salt and what tasted like kimchi juice (wasn't sure if these went together, everything was just given to us haha). This was great, definitely to be shared with at least 3 people, I couldn't finish even half on my own. We also got a soondae guk stew that came as a combo with three yellow croakers. This was super homey and had a seollongtang vibe. Lastly we got the goat stew which I'd never had before. It was spicy with chrysanthemum leaves. The taste was good but I wouldn't get it again because the goat skin had a little bit of fur. The store has a handful of indoor seating and is run by Korean moms. Service was great.

Absolute place to come for soondaeguk! The place is small with not so many tables so there was a surprising amount of wait. I think we waited almost 30mins for a party of 2. The lady takes the order while you are waiting though so the food comes out relatively quick which is amazing because we were so hungry from the wait! The soondaeguk is delicious and was exactly what I was craving! Will definitely return to this place! What a find!

We came at 1pm on a Saturday. Despite it being somewhat later in the afternoon, there was a line outside. We put our names down and waited around 15 minutes. Some parties placed their orders earlier so that they could be served right when they were seated. The restaurant was quite busy inside (the restaurant itself isn't that huge), and all tables were full. All the workers in JangTu are incredibly friendly and kind! We took a while to order, but the waitress was patient and brought us drinks in the meantime. We ended up ordering the JangTu Baegban (soondae guk with pan fried yellow croaker) and the Haemul Pajeon (seafood and veggie pancake). The JangTu Baegban had a distinct white pepper taste to it, stronger than I'm used to eating, but it enhanced the flavor of the soup quite well. I enjoyed the different types of meat within the soup, and I think it's a great option for people who want to try different types of meat. The pan fried yellow croaker was also fried well! The Haemul Pajeon had great texture due to the seafood. Although I would've preferred it a bit crispier, the flavor was great! JangTu is definitely one of the top Korean restaurants I've had in San Jose, serving authentic options. I would definitely like to come back and try some other dishes!

    Kristina K.

Whenever I want a savory soup, this is one of my favorites to go. This Korean beef soup is simple in flavor one might say it's a bit bland but I really like it this way since many foods are too flavorful that you feel too much. This soup has generous beef slices. I sometimes add more pepper powder, the chili sauce, and lots of toasted perilla seeds. It depends on my mood. However you season it, It's comforting and satisfying. The banchans are delicious too. This place is quite small but it's always busy. You most likely have to put your name down and wait outside until the staff calls you. The service is good and efficient. You should check it out!

Great place to have some authentic Korean food. We waited 40 minutes on a Wednesday night, got seated around 8pm. I really appreciated how they have chicken bulgogi and the meat was so juicy! It was also my first time having oysters with bossam which was delicious with the kimchi. The haemul pajeon was crispy and full of seafood. This restaurant will definitely fulfill any cravings and is worth the wait. Service was friendly and decently fast once we were seated.

It's quite large with many tables and chairs inside, and it's nice and brightly lit. Service was quick and efficient, and they moved us to a larger table after hearing how much we were ordering We definitely overordered and got a seafood pancake to start, the smaller size of bossam, a kimchi tofu soup, and a beef bibimbap. The bossam took a while to come out, and by then we were already pretty full off of the pancake, soup and bibimbap. Service sizes are generous, and this definitely would've been enough for 4+ people to share. There was a great assortment of different banchan - my favorite is the jelly! The pancake was nice and crispy, with a good amount of seafood, the bibimbap had a great amount of crispy rice at the bottom and the tofu soup was comforting and exactly what we were looking for. The bossam had a lot of meat - I kind of wished there was more radish and napa to go with the meat, but it was tender, not too fatty, and satisfying. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Jang su jang is still a classic staple, and has a delicious offering for almost any korean craving you could want. It's a little pricey, but comparable to other options in the area with consistent quality that makes it worth it in my opinion.

The japchae was pretty average, but I did enjoy the amount of veggies and meat! 8/10 My favorite was the LA Galbi. It was marinated soooo well and deliciously. Well priced in comparison to many other korean places ! 10/10 Maybe im too spoiled with BCD tofu house but the soup was not that great. i got mild spice (my usual at places) and it overall tasted pretty bland to me. It wasnt the best but it wasnt the worst either. Not spicy, not greatly flavored but still seasoned enough. Once was enough for me, I wouldnt get it again. 7/10 The vibes were nice despite the plaza looking as run down as it is. They have a sign in the front saying to grab any items of value from ur car due to high rate of car break-ins. Overall my experience w this location was 7/10. I would rec the galbi to anyone and need to try their hot pot menu!

However, we were able to order our food ahead of time. The atmosphere of the restaurant was bustling and noisy, a super fun and casual spot. Our dishes arrived minutes after we sat down, which was impressive. There was also a variety of delicious side dishes, with various types of kimchi. The nine of us split two braised beef short rib dishes - and we were struggling to finish it all. The portion size is massive, which makes sense since it's a pretty penny. The meat was so tender, literally falling off the bone. There were a ton of potatoes, daikon, rice cake, and carrots as well. The entire dish was savory and delicious, pairing perfectly with rice. You can also specify your spice level. The medium spice was a fair amount of spice but not overpowering. I highly recommend getting the cheese on top, it provides a creamy contrast to the sharp flavors of the meat. I'm still thinking about the braised beef short rib - it was just that delicious!

The restaurant's ambiance is thoughtfully designed, with a modern yet welcoming atmosphere that elevates the overall dining experience. The only minor drawback was our table's proximity to the kitchen. During the lunch rush, it became quite busy, making it somewhat difficult to hear our server at times. Speaking of service, the staff was attentive, efficient, and accommodating throughout our visit. Our server moved quickly despite the bustling crowd and graciously attended to all of our requests. Now, onto the food. I genuinely believe this may be one of the best tofu soups in the Bay Area. We ordered the spicy Alaskan Tofu Soup, and it exceeded expectations. The broth had a rich, velvety consistency with just the right level of heat. The tofu was silky smooth, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The Alaskan snow crab and shrimp added a luxurious touch to an already exceptional dish. While we didn't notice much of the abalone, it certainly didn't detract from the overall experience. We also ordered the Wagyu patty, which was equally impressive. The meat was tender, flavorful, and unmistakably Wagyu. What truly stood out was the bed of scallions underneath, which added a wonderful depth and brightness that complemented the richness of the beef. I only realized this after taking a few bites and wish I had enjoyed them together from the start, as the combination was outstanding. Overall, this is an easy 5/5. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the ingredients and execution more than justify the cost. It's rare to find a tofu soup featuring premium seafood such as Alaskan snow crab in the Bay Area, and this restaurant delivers a unique experience that's well worth seeking out.
