I've here a few times but not in a while bc it was bad the time before. This time was much better, however, my biggest problem was the "salsa". It was basically pico but I wouldnt call it salsa, I dont know if the blender was broken or if that's how they have it but I was a let down. Ambiance: This place has a fun vibe. Super crowded but staff was wearing masks. Despite being crowded we had excellent service. Taste test: I enjoyed the food especially the jalapeño salsa. I just really love Chuys. First of all, their patio is PERFECT for a lunch with friends. Second, their chips and salsa are on point! Definitely get a side of ranch to go with them because it is literally addictive. Also, their entire menu is pretty good. I've never had bad service here, always friendly and efficient. Let me start my review off by saying that this place is ALWAYS busy, and after trying it for the first time, I have no idea why. We had a party of 8, came in as a walk-in party, and were seating in 25 minutes on a Monday night at 6:30pm. Not too bad. Lots of seating. The environment was great- such a fun/unique vibe, and lots to look at. I'd rate this environment an 8 out of 10! Our server was wonderful! He did a great job at checking in at just the right times, keeping our table clear, making sure we had what we needed, and was overall just a great server and personality. This place lost me (and my whole group) when it came to the food. We had high expectations because this place is so popular. However, the food was so distasteful that I felt like I was going to puke. I have never had such terrible Mexican food. I thought I was the only one, however, the rest of my table also hated their meals. We barely touched our food. I really do not mean to sound harsh, but I am just utterly shocked at how much I did not like it. I am not a picky eater by any means, however, I couldn't fathom taking more than 2 bites. While we thoroughly enjoyed everything else about this place, it is a restaurant and we went there for the food. I wanted to rate this place higher but I can't. So I'm a little bit of a slacker when coming to write this review! When I finally got to try this location it was a bit of a tough day, we had found out some unfortunate news about someone we knew. We had tried to come here once before and they had been super swamped, but on this particular visit we had been sat right away. So we had ended up in the area to try a drink place and decided to stop here for some comfort tacos during this particular time when we had been able to get sat right away. We ended up sitting upstairs which is a really nice area to sit in. I originally was worried about sitting upstairs but Staff was friendly and fast in helping us. As a bonus our food came out extremely fast, as if they knew what we wanted before we knew what we wanted. My husbands giant burrito was good, and my tacos ended up delicious! while we were eating one of the staff accidentally splattered some beer on my husband's hat and a little while later, our waiter saw him sort of wiping his hat and asked if the beer had splattered on it and he said yes, so the waiter said that he would let the manager know he was very, very concerned about it and a few minutes later, the manager came over with some club soda and a cloth to wipe off of the hat and then they gave us a discount on our meal and I felt like that was a very high level of service considering that it was just a few little drops of beer that had fallen on his hat so we really appreciated that. The wife and I were both craving Chicken Enchiladas so we decided to order two different styles. I ordered the "Southwestern" style and my wife got the "Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom" style. Mine was more on the healthy side because it's made with blue corn tortillas. The sunny-side up egg on top was a unique touch. Hers had more cheese and "boom-boom" sauce. I really enjoyed the spicy kick from the Southwestern style and I loved the blend of cheeses and sauces from the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom style. We chose Mexican rice and re-fried beans for our sides. Everything paired well together for the ultimate Tex-Mex dish. Cravings satisfied! We've been coming to Chuy's for years. This was our go to spot when we lived in KC.
