Although Chuy's is a chain it is not local to where I live so when visiting VA I knew we had to try it! Started with chips and queso because duh. Their queso is different than most Mexican restaurants in that it's a yellow cheese base vs white cheese but wow was it so good! And I loooooved the complimentary creamy jalapeño dipping sauce, I could seriously drink it! & the chips were perfectly thin and crispy. For my entree I got one shrimp taco and one chicken taco. It comes with rice on the side too! The shrimp was fried and came with a nice crunchy slaw, I also added some of the jalapeño dip on it! The chicken was good but nothing too special. The atmosphere of chuys is fun and eclectic, will definitely be back some day!

I love chuys! The decor is so colorful and cool. We were sat near the bar area and I really enjoyed all the dog portraits! FYI if you bring in a framed picture of your pup you'll receive a free app! We ordered gauc, steak tacos, and the enchilada combo. The food was very tasty and well seasoned. Our waitress was also super friendly and very attentive. The prices are great too!

I love Chuys but they have to stop packing all this food into one bag. I went to pick up several dinners and a huge thing of spicy white sauce, bc I love it and use it on everything, and they crammed it all into one bag. When I got home, as I was walking to my front door the bottom of the bag broke and well, it ruined 100 bucks worth of food. This is the one place I look forward to getting food from when I can and it was ruined.

Discovered Chuy's recently and must say I was shocked about the interior. The place is so gorgeous. Whenever I want to travel I visit Chuy's because of its tropical vibes. The other nice thing is that the restaurant is super spacious each section has its own decor. Whenever I go, I order the Chuychanga (fried burrito) it costs around -$13 . It's tastes good . I always get their Tres Leches cake as well. It's really sweet and heavy so definitely save some space for it! -Costs around -$8. The service is REALLY QUICK! Definitely visit this place when you are want to travel but can't !

We were in the Short Pump area, and I had heard that Chuy's is an extension of the Austin-based Mexican restaurants that I had heard good things about. We decided to stop in for a quick lunch. They were busier than we anticipated for Friday at 2 in the afternoon. Then again, it's located in a busy shopping area and we came in on the last weekend before Christmas - so it was pretty crowded. We ordered and I'm pretty sure we got our food in less than 5 minutes! We chose the fajita combo. The flavors were for sure authentic. They marinate their fajita meat in Shiner Bock (a beer made in Texas), serranos, and spices - you can taste all of those in the steak and chicken for sure. Minus a star because our tortillas were cold and even a little hard on the edges, as if they'd been sitting in the container for some time. Other than that, we would definitely come back to try their tacos and beyond. Oh, and to buy more fun T-shirts :)

Really good Mexican food at affordable prices. Their kid's meal come with a drink and dessert, a huge hit with my kids. Their decoration is really unique, which makes for a fun ambiance, but service was so-so when we went. Overall a great place to get your Mexican craving filled.

Wife, kids, and I usually stop here on our way out of Richmond heading back towards the western part of the state. The service is generally quick and polite, the restaurant itself is neat with fun pictures, and the outdoor seating is very pleasant. I always get the enchiladas with some form of their sauces and it's always good.

    Ask the Community - Chuy's

Anyone know when they'll be going back to their original menu? My husband loves the chili rellenós and they haven't added it back.

Does anyone know if they have changed their fajita recipe? I find them spicy now which is not good for me due to acid reflux. I may have to find another place. Anyone know?

I don't think so but you can ask for them unmarinated/unseasoned if they are too spicy for your liking

I am so glad my fiancé talked me into staying because this place absolutely knocked me off my feet. -I highly recommend the Nuclear Hawaiian and the Hello Kitty!!!! When we mentioned we weren't sure about the food, the bartenders jumped right in with recommendations and suggested the calamari and crab rangoon and they were spot on! When the food arrived, everything was perfectly cooked. The calamari was tender with a great texture, and the crab rangoon was crisp with amazing flavor. I went from I am not hungry to I could eat multiple plates of the same thing. We ended up staying for hours watching college football and mingling with some of the regulars. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and we genuinely had such fun conversation with people around us. We even heard from several folks that this place really comes alive during karaoke nights. At one point an older heavyset lady who we later found out was one of the cooks came out to chat with people. She was checking in to make sure everyone liked their food and catching up with the regulars like family. it really showed how much the staff cares about the people that walk through the door. I honestly wish I lived closer because I would be here multiple times a week. if your anywhere near this restaurant, dont skip this spot trust me!

It took over 20 minutes for our waitress to come over and greet us, and that wasn't even to take our drink orders. It was so long that we debated leaving, however we remember how good it was, so decided to stick the wait out. I should've taken the nearly empty restaurant as a sign. That's was my mistake. Might've been one of the longest meals of my life. The staff- who claim to be short staffed (which could very well be, I'm not downplaying that), however they frequently stood in front of the TV watching whatever sports game was on it... interesting. When we tried to get our waitresses attention (multiple times this occurred), we got a nasty side eye and she walked away and ignored us (lovely ). When we did finally get our meals, items of it were cold or incorrect (shoutout my mashed potatoes which were physically hard). With that being said, the wings were good, would recommend those if you're going here. Don't order the tacos on the other hand... elote corn was obviously frozen- gross. Other items of the meal you could tell were previously frozen too. I will say they offered us a complimentary dessert which was nice, I was just really disappointed with this experience overall. In my opinion this restaurant needs to be renovated and menu needs to be cleaned up (and the freshness of the food should be revalued), this place is going downhill and experience reflects that.

When we first walked in, the place was pretty crowded, but we were able to grab a couple spots at the bar and figured we'd settle in for a good night. That's where things went sideways. The bartender appeared to be the only one working, and while I understand being busy, the attitude and behavior were honestly shocking. Every interaction felt aggressive. Remotes getting slammed around. Napkins and pens tossed onto the counter. Water being splashed onto the floor like a toddler throwing a tantrum. The entire atmosphere at the bar felt tense and uncomfortable. It got to the point where we almost felt awkward ordering anything because every request seemed like it was ruining their night. At one point another couple sat down next to us and almost immediately started looking around like, "is this really happening right now?" I actually ended up warning them that no, they weren't imagining it, and that it had been our experience the entire time too. That alone should tell you how uncomfortable the atmosphere was. Which is unfortunate because the kitchen actually did their part. The food was good. Really good. But good food only carries a place so far when the service makes you want to leave before the meal even arrives. I've worked in and around hospitality long enough to understand busy nights happen. But there's a huge difference between being overwhelmed and taking it out on customers. Tazza Kitchen has the food figured out. Now they just need the front of house experience to match it.

Upon entering, the hostess greeted us and, at our request, seated us outside because it was a beautiful day. The restaurant venue and ambiance were modern and well kept. The bathroom was clean and nice. The outside seating area was also fairly clean with comfortable seating. Our server (neither my partner nor I caught her name as she said it: she had beautiful braids with blonde streaks woven in) started on the right foot, took our orders promptly, and brought out our waters. I ordered the Smothered Pork Chop, and my partner chose the Fried Chicken, subbed pimento mac and cheese for the collard greens (who can blame her?). The food did not come out promptly. My best guess is that our server was seated with a large table and prioritized a better tip over the two top (us) outside. Eventually, the food came out (~25 minutes, so not terrible), but for the number of patrons in the restaurant, it was too long. My partner's mashed potatoes were cold, but she said the fried chicken and mac and cheese were fantastic. The potatoes tasted delicious, but they were simply not warm. My pork chop was very thick, like a filet, which is okay, but it wasn't what I expected. I prefer a thin pork chop, so that it cooks all the way through (more solid, not soft). It was passable. The beans and rice (Hoppin' John) were also not what I was expecting; I was thinking more New Orleans-style, but they were bland, like cream of mushroom soup on unseasoned beans and rice. We ordered the banana pudding for dessert. We ended up waiting for that for ~20 minutes as well, a half-pint glass of banana pudding with underripe bananas mixed in. Note to the chef: heat ripens bananas, so you could toss a few in a skillet with a little oil in a pinch (egg yolks also work). We waited for another 10 minutes, and I finally went inside and asked the hostess for the check. I realize it is difficult to serve, but you must also consider asking your colleagues for help if you have too much going on. All in all, the food was satisfactory, but the service was lacking. We ended up waiting an hour longer than we should have had to. I semi-recommend Farm and Oak, but look to be seated with the better server, John. He and the hostess saved our experience.
