Great place for Mexican food - American style. Lots of veggie options! I really love the tacos and enchilada combo. Drinks are good too.

If there was a drop of rum in the strawberry daiquiri that we bought before dinner I don't know where they hid it. Our 15 minute wait was actually 40 minutes. The waitress said the best thing I could do was get the blackberry daiquiri when I complained but I had no plan to waste more money on a drink. The waitress talked too much and the sauce on the enchiladas, which I took such great care in selecting was a dried squiggle from being under a heat lamp too long. Won't be back. read more

Keeping in mind that this is a chain TEX-MEX spot, not an authentic Mexican restaurant, then it was pretty good. Come during happy hour to benefit from the FREE loaded nacho cart with tons of sauces and dips including a spicy queso which is delicious. Also, margaritas are discounted during happy hour. The kids meals are actually real food. The chicken tender looked official and hand breaded with Mac and cheese instead of fries (but not the typical easy Mac stuff). read more

I'm not usually a fan of chain Mexican restaurants but Chuy's didn't disappoint. The chips and salsa were great, as well as the Chile con queso appetizer. The portions are huge and your best best would be to order from the combinations portion of the menu. I ordered the #9 chicken combo that came with a chicken chalupa, chicken taco, and guacamole. The rest of the table ordered the #1 comida deluxe with which was almost like a sampler platter with flautas, enchiladas, taco, and tostado chips with Chile con queso, and the #4 Chile rellano and enchilada. We just walked out due to horrible service again. My wife and I sat at the bar, the bar tender looked at us and walked away from the bar. The manager was watching us with no acknowledgement. As we walked out, he was busy changing the channel on the television rather than attempting to take care of his customer. This is the second and final time we experienced horrible service here. I was delighted to have a late lunch at Chuy's on I-drive. This displaced Texas girl was excited to see a branch of the restaurant I first enjoyed years ago in Austin. I was not disappointed. Really tasty Mexican food (Tex-Mex and New Mexico influences) and fun decor. Our table ordered tacos al carbon, chicken enchiladas and chiles relleno. All were great. I've been debating on where or not I wanted to post a review about Chuy's or not, but I think it would be an injustice to not talk about my HORRIBLE experience! We were seated and I would guesstimate that it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come to our table to take our drink order. I saw other waitresses walk by and roll their eyes as I assume they could tell we were not being waited on and that we were getting frustrated. I was with a group of four, and my friends ordered their tea's and soda's or whatever they got, and I loosely recall ordering something from the bar... Maybe a margarita? I don't know what it was at this point. Our waitress brought their drinks by quite some time after we ordered, and then disappeared again for a while. She eventually came back to take our order (I still didn't have my drink at this point.. after being seated for probably 30 minutes by then) and disappeared again. Some time later, three meals were dropped off at our table--and before I could even ask where mine was, she was gone again. I had no food, and no drink, and my friends insisted that they would not eat their food until I got mine. At that point, I was starting to get more than a little frustrated, and for good reason. Their food was going to be cold and gross by the time we got my situation straightened out. I got a manager involved and she was very compassionate and apologetic, which I very much appreciated, but I don't understand what was going on to allow this to happen to begin with. She took care of our meals and made sure that mine did eventually come out along with my drink, but I think it was a little too late at that point to salvage this experience at Chuy's. I don't know what was going on with our waitress. I'm still not sure why I left her a $20 tip for her terrible service, but hopefully there was a good reason why our service was so awful that night... and if not, I hope she's looking for another way to pay her bills. I'm not sure that I'd consider going back on my next trip to Orlando. While I appreciate the management taking care of the tab, I would have appreciated being able to eat with my friends and paying for the meal too. It was probably a fluke, but the food and drink wasn't very good as I ended up finding out. I didn't even eat most of my fajitas because I was so ticked off at that point. read more

This review is for the very talented and sweet ballon artist, Bruce, who works there (although I'm not sure if he's there every single day?). You can tell that he really loves his job, which is making people smile. I saw him make some really amazing balloon art while we were there, and he even took out his phone to show us pictures of his larger masterpieces. He works on tips only, and I can only hope that people compensate him appropriately. Everyone should go see Bruce!!! read more

We spent 5 days in Orlando over Mardi Gras this year. Chuy's was on our list to try from day one but the wait was really long so we went next door to BJ's (also really good). We finally made it to Chuy's on Sunday and we were NOT disappointed. We love Mexican or Tex/Mex food. If there were a Chuy's in Orange Beach Alabama we would probably have our name on one of the tables because we would eat there so much! There was a short wait on Sunday...like 20 minutes...so we sat in the bar and ordered some beers and chips and salsa (best salsa I have had in a decade) until our table was ready. Our server in the bar and the server in the restaurant were great. Sunday after church they get a lot of large parties so the place was a little crazy but it just added to the atmosphere. There was a balloon animal guy there who was GREAT. I ordered the steak taco salad, my husband had the steak chimi changa and my son had the kids bean burrito. They would not even place us on the waitlist, because they stated it would be past closing time before we could get seated. I was extremely disappointed in this place. They didn't have the beer that my friend was asking for, he ordered another, she came back and said they didn't have that one either. We ordered queso, it was ok, but then when we ordered food she didn't seem to care and didnt ask about different add ons or options. I may be giving Chuy's 4 stars based solely on their delicious, homemade tortillas and tortilla chips. They're addictive and I need more of them right now. Yelp led me here after a loong day at Universal Studios. Thought it would be packed, as it was a Saturday night...and it was, but I think most restaurants on International Drive have the whole "crowd" thing down packed. We didn't have to wait for a table, and our waitress was almost immediately at our table right after we sat down. Food was delicious, but beware...I had a person dining with me who is not a fan of spicy. When she asked the waitress if certain things she was ordering were spicy, the waitress said "no". To me, of course, the items were barely on the "hot" spectrum, but to her the stuff was way to spicy to eat. Everything here is seasoned heavily. EVERYTHING. The tacky decor inside somehow works...and I think it's because I expect a place like Orlando with a million tourists day after day to look a little kitschy. Think hubcaps. Hubcaps everywhere. I just don't understand all the good reviews. Here is why: me and my family went there tonight based on all the good reviews; we waited long minutes even before we got a chance to order the drinks; then even more minutes to see the drinks and even longer to get a chance to order the food; needles to mention, the food took forever to reach the table, just before I was about to leave; we ordered 3 tortilla soups: one was excellent, another was too spicy, the third was not edible due to the amount of salt; the other 2 orders were huge, but the taste was terrible, as were the two strawberry mojitos we ordered, the worst I've ever drank; half of the food we left untouched, that's how bad it was! When we got back to the hotel, my wife had to take a Reglan for nausea, to prevent throwing up that "delicious" meal! The food and service were so shockingly bad that I could not even complain to the server about it. I felt like I was gonna go to a too low level if I was gonna complain. The only plus to the whole experience was the fact that the server noticed I was so dissatisfied when she asked me if I wanted boxes to take the food home, and my "No" sounded probably more like "Are you out of your mind?!". She offered to take items off the bill, without me asking, so in the end I only paid for the two disgusting mojitos and the huge appetizer which we left almost untouched. For her nice gesture I left her a good tip. The place was nicely decorated, for the level of "quality". We regularly eat Mexican food, but this was the worst ever? Just had a very late boarding on dinner here and it was beyond fantastic. Probably the best enchiladas in my life so far. The queso was also good but I should've given my mouth some time to cool down before trying it because to be fair it was my first time at this restaurant since I'm on vacation so I got the sauce plate as well and some of the sauces on the plate were hotter than others, so when I tried the queso my mouth was still tasting the heat from some of the sauces. Funny story I know. But to me the queso wasn't spicy at all. The rice and beans that cane with the enchiladas were very good. Actually the meal was better than some of the meals I had at home. Wowzers, I was blown away by Chuy's. We were on our way to a concert at the Hard Rock and this was recommended to us by a friend. We were seated promptly and the service was exquisite! Fill ups, chips, napkins, and whatever else one can think of was taken care of without us saying one thing. A red salsa and white, jalapeño ranch dip come with the chips...extremely delicious! The friend with us recommended the steak burrito and he was so convincing with talking about the homemade burrito station in the restaurant, the quality of the steak, and the sauce that comes on top. You can switch out your sauce from a list of about 7. Get the sauce on the side so you can take a bite to enjoy the tortilla. The rice popped with flavor and the burrito was devine! I can't say enough great things about this. The steak burrito is a bit pricey at close to $12, but totally worth it :). read more

Sweet baby Mexican! The tex-mex Gods are smiling down on me. I've been to one other Chuy's and that was in Nashville. They just finished building the one here in Orlando and it was the perfect finish to my already awesome Sunday! Chuy's is a tex-next restaurant that appeals to many because it's decor is very commercialized but the food doesn't taste that way. The food is very flavorful and authentic. The service is incredible. Our server gave us informed suggestions and had a drink order out to us in minutes. The chips and salad/cheese dip are perfect to get you in the mood for what's to come. They have an extensive menus and options for everyone. I went with the chicken tacos because I'm a bit of a creature of habit. Of course they were amazing, and the guac....oh the guac was perfection! Came here with my husband, he ordered the soft tacos which came with 2 and I ordered the crispy tacos came with 3. Everything was good, a little under seasoned. You have to ask for the creamy jalapeño sauce. The only problem was that our waiter was very lost and confused. Yikes. Heading over to Taco Bell would have given me a better dinner than Chuy's. If you're a local like me, do not go here. It's tourist trap for those who do not understand that better Mexican restaurants are in abundance in Orlando. I came here with my family to have an enjoyable Mexican meal. Mexican chains are usually simple and do not disappoint. As usual, we were welcomed with the ordinary chips and salsa. The salsa was delicious and fresh but what was really disappointing was that each time our waiter filled up our nachos, there were five nachos on the bottom of the bowl which were not fully cooked. You can't really get worse than salty, uncooked nachos. For our main portions, we ordered the Tacos del Carbon, the Enchilada, Chalupa and Taco meal and the Chuychanga. The Tacos del Carbon were very simple tacos, nothing special. My Enchilada, Chalupa and Taco meal arrived to me on a plate that seemed as if a hurricane had come across. The beans, enchilada, chalupa, taco and rice were all mixed up in this huge jumble of nonsense. The chalupa tasted like a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell without any sauce; the enchilada was just nasty, and the basic fast-food taco was the best thing I ate that night. My companion said the Chuychanga was awful, forcing me to question why I came to eat at Chuy's in the first place. To all the tourists out there on I-Drive, Don Pablo's down the street is better. Taco Bell is better. Even Del Taco near Festival Bay is better. To all my fellow locals in Orlando, if you want real Mexican in Orlando and want to skip the chains on I-Drive that cater only to uninformed tourists, then head over to Azteca d'Oro or Agave Azul. You will definitely experience better at those joints. Next time I pass by this restaurant, I will laugh and pity the poor patrons who consider this food to be "great." read more

Everyone was poorly acting out " good service " but no one was rude either. But overall we went to eat & food was good. Good luck with parking if you have mid size or bigger vehicle. These parking spaces are smaller then average. I'll go back to chuys, just won't expect the friendliest people. 3 stars for good food & prices. Menu consists of combo plates, burritos, enchiladas, tacos and taco shell salads and fajitas. Unlimited taco chips with a side of medium heat salsa, guacamole, cheese sauce and ranch sauce. I ordered the steak fajitas. It came on a sizzling platter of sliced steak, sauteed mixed peppers and onions. Alongside that came a bowl of chopped lettuce, yellow and white cheese strips, sour cream and more guacamole plus three soft flour tacos. The idea is to put all the ingredients into the taco, roll it up and eat it. It was absolutely delicious. Both huge and very filling. My companion had a taco salad with chicken.
