My wife suggested this spot after church. She said the food is really good, and that the drinks are really good. She's been to happy hour here and the location near the galleria. Well she was right the food is good and the service is A-1. The only reason I subtracted a star is because of one hiccup I'm sure doesn't happen often at this establishment. My wife's veggie enchilada had a hair in it. The waiter and manager took care of it quickly, but when they brought a supposed new plate it was actually the same plate with the only difference being fresh veggie enchiladas. The reason we knew was that my wife had eaten a small portion of rice off her plate before they took it back, and when the plate came back it was obvious that this was the same mound of half eaten rice. She was apprehensive but tried to eat her food but kept staring at each fork full so as not to almost get a bite of someone's hair......again. Now with that said let me remind you that the manager and waiter apologized for the mishap and quickly attempted to rectify the situation. Unfortunately the entire plate wasn't thrown in the trash and started the dish completely over. Although that was a mistake....they get two thumbs up for the excellent service and taking that plate off the bill. Good service can make the most mediocre establishment a five star spot, and bad service can make a 5 star spot mediocre.......and this is why I will be back to this establishment again. Check out the pics of the food. I had the enchiladas taco and beef chalupa combo which was good. My son had the chicken fajita soft tacos which he said was also good. My wife had the veggie enchiladas.......with a side of hair pun intended. No libations today for we just had communion at church thirty minutes prior to dining here. I love Chuy's, so when I saw they were opening one up so close to our neighborhood, I was excited. The food is great, as can be expected from Chuy's. However the service, particularly for to-go is horrible!!! From the people answering the phone, taking your order to when you get there to pick up your food. It's complete chaos. We ordered to-go when it first opened and it was bad. We waited a month later, thinking it may have improved by now, but it hasn't. It's a nightmare. Will not be returning anytime soon. read more

My party of four visited recently and we left disappointed. We were all surprised at the menu prices and thought about just having a drink and enjoy the chips and sauce and leave but after a few chips we decided to go ahead and eat there. We liked the sauces that comes with the chips very much, especially the creamy avocado sauce that you have to request. The entrees were average tasting and expected better at the prices that they charged. Just about every Mexican restaurant that we have eaten at within a ten mile area of the restaurant has better tasting food and most of them are reasonably prices. Two of us did not like the Strawberry and Lime Margaritas because they had a bite to them. The service was very slow and they were not that busy for a rainy Sunday afternoon. I love Chuy's!! It's my favorite Mexican restaurant. That's why it pains me to see the Sugar Land location not doing well. The waitress was helpful, but brought ice tea without ice in it and had to bring a seperate cup of ice. I hate ice tea without ice! I had to walk to the bar to ask for more ice. The food took a very long time and once it was dropped off, I had to go search for cutlery. The flautas came with a weird sauce and a small amount of beans and rice. The re-fried beans were slightly dried out. I think they were in the warmer too long. We were running out of time and when I asked for the check, it was delivered to the wrong table. I think it's time for the training staff to come back and help the new people. I hope it improves! read more

The food is good. Enormous quantities. Even the lunch sizes are big for a normal sized guy. Peak hours are really peak with wait time often hovering near the one hour range. We've been to Chuys several times and if I came here for a drink and green sauce that would be enough for me. There really isn't anything on the menu that I really live for but we come back and try something else. I think the green sauce is addictive and it works. Try the spicy cucumber martini, delish, for xtra kick ask the bartender to muddle a Serrano pepper in it. The perfect margarita was surprisingly really good too. I've had all of the appetizers and the sampler is a meal in itself as well as the nachos or sanchos (nachos with fajita meat). Pretty much whatever I get, I dump green sauce on it lol!!! The enchiladas would have been a lot better if they were actually warm, they were very lukewarm, almost cold and we didnt delay in picking it up. Hubs loved the chuychanga. They do give chips with the creamy jalapeno sauce which was great. Overall not impressed but not deterred from placing another order. Felt the sides of rice and refried beans were on the skimpy sides, but we never eat much of those anyway but still. Price is high average for Tex Mex food. Amazing food and great service! My daughter went there on this past Saturday and i said hey do you want to go back? Of course she said yes! I got the tex mex enchiladas on Saturday and she had tacos. I stopped in to get some fajitas to go. I walked in and there was one person ahead of me to be seated. It was not crowded, I got there right before the dinner rush. The hostess was just returning to the desk as I walked in. She did not greet me, nor even look at me to acknowledge I was there. As she talked with the person ahead of me, a waiter came ro the desk to grab some menus, he also did not speak to me or look at me. Then another hostess came to the desk, spoke to the first hostess, who was on her way to seat the person that was ahead of me, and proceded to discuss who had previously been seated, what tables were taken, etc., and again, did not speak to me or even acknowledge me. So I politely interrupted and asked where I could place an order to go. "At the end of the bar" I was told. Which was good for me as I was going to have a beer while I waited. Again, the bartender did not acknowledge I was there. I eventually got her attention and asked if I could place an order to go. She said someone (she said a name, I can't remember what name) would help me, without asking if she could get me anything while I waited. A few minutes went by. I was just about to call in the order, thinking it might be faster than my current approach, when someone finally came to take my order. I then had to get the bartender's attention again to order a beer. Then I had to ask her if I could get some chips and salsa. Wow. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with service issues. A couple near me asked to speak to the manager and then told him how they had been waiting for their order so long, they needed to get it to go. My wife had the frito breaded chicken plate. Both came with rice and refried beans on the side. I ate everything, it was that good. My wife loved her dish, but could not finish the huge plate. The rice was moist and tasty. The refried beans was tasty and at the right consistancy. Our total bill was less than $25 with tax. The food's pretty good for the reasonable price. Service can be a real hit, or a miss. I've ordered a fajita taco salad where they forgot to add the fajita. My sister's had the enchiladas topped with a fried egg, where the white is still raw and runny. On one visit, 2 waiters couldn't decide which one needed to serve us, causing us to order twice. They are quick to correct their mistakes, but, they should work on improving their service. Aside from that, I've also had exceptional service here . The food is fresh and quality. First time coming here and I loved it ! Fresh nachos served while waiting for the food and the sauces were delicious. With that alone I would have been happy. I had the steak burrito with boom boom sauce ! Our waiter Autra was extremely helpful and he made suggestions for sauces and even brought out samples for us to taste. I love Chuy's and this one is hit or miss with service and wait times. This last time we went we sat in the bar bc the wait was 25-30 minutes...on a Monday...with a half empty parking lot. It was later disclosed it was because they are short staffed. I can't knock them for that...it happens. While in the bar we had the longest wait times for everything. Drinks- a wait, chips and salsa- a wait, creamy jalapeño- a wait. Our server was extremely slow. At one point we said we would've been better off with the 25-30 minute wait to sit in the main area. Food was excellent as always. Everything was fresh and like I can get at any Chuy's. I've also worked with this location on a larger catering order...it's been easy to work with them. We usually go here in large groups. They continually have trouble getting the orders right and the service is repetitively slow for refilling drinks and bringing the food. The atmosphere however is way cool, and we really love the chips and creamy jalepeno sauce. We've used the to go portion of the restaurant several times and the knowing where to go is pretty awkward, because once you figure out you have to go to the bar, you just stand there and wait for one of the multiple passing staff to ask you what you are there for. The bartenders are always nice, and we love the nacho bar but it's not usually open when we go. I think the best thing this place can do is figure out a better system for waiting on large tables and improve the taste of their food. read more

This place has definitely improved over the last few months. We typically just go during the lunch hour, which seems to be much quieter. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly! This has now become our "go to" Tex-mex place if we are in a hurry and want something delicious! Don't forget to get the spicy ranch dip with your complimentary nachos to start with. I recommend the Elvis Presley combo, as it's a favorite of some in my family. I love the lite chicken combo. The enchiladas are also great, and my children love the kids menu! Definitely recommend! Not sure what's up with all the negative reviews of this new Chuy's in Sugar Land. My wife and I have been here 4-5 times already since it opened up. Prior to this one opening we'd been to both locations on Westhiemer, and the Webster location. I don't really see a difference in the food or service, no better or worse. Our last visit was yesterday, it was pretty busy for a Sunday evening so rather than wait we just sat in the bar area (which was much quieter than the regular seating area). We were greeted immediately, our server was a gentleman named Thor. He was a good waiter, very personable. Our food arrived quickly and hot. He brought us salsa/chip refilled without having to be asked. I ordered the Elvis combo, which arrived hot. My wife tried the Tortilla soup/salad combo. Both were delicious, and very generous portions. All in all I'm glad they built a location in Sugar Land, I just wish they hadn't built it so far out. Again, I don't see any difference between this and the other locations. I see a lot of reviewers claiming there's a difference in the food and service, I haven't experienced this yet. My only complaint are it can be kind of a pain to get to if you're coming from the other side of Sugar Land. Also if you come during peak times parking can be a nightmare. read more
