Tonight was my second time coming to Chuy's. They have good drinks but the food is not that great. I've been to Gringos several times and want Chuy's to be just as good because it's closer but it's not. The sauces are just ok and the quality of food isn't the best. There menu seems like it has a lot of food but it's just combinations of the same few dishes. I know a lot of people who like coming here but it's just not my cup of Tex-Mex. read more

I guess we came at a bad time, 530pm on a sunday. It was crowded. But we wanted to try it. So we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving....ordered and waited at least 30 minutes for our food. When it arrived, it was close to being cold. Not even warm. Idk what happened there. Food was bland and uninteresting. Bummer! A couple got seated behind us right after we finished our meal and I was sure they would be waiting a while for their food. But I was wrong...they got their food in a decent amount of time, and it was hot. I could see the steam on their food and I was jealous. read more

Awesome place! Delicious, consistent, filling food & great service! Staff is energetic, friendly and great team work! Very artsy, warm, cool interior. Fast service and great team work. Awesome free munchies for happy hour, M-Fri from 4 to 7pm. My fave items are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Chuychanga, Queso Compuesto, Shrimp Tacos, a d Creamy Jalapeno dip. I give Chuy's 5 stars simply because of the HAPPY HOUR. Every weekday from 4-7 there is UNLIMITED self-serve queso, ground beef, refried beans, and chips. The happy hour drinks run about 5$ each and the queso is so plentiful and filling that my boyfriend and I have yet to have room in our stomachs to actually order a meal. If you're looking for something to do in between the hours of 4-7 check out any of the Chuy's locations- Austin, Houston, and Sugar Land. I've had a few rude waiters (why I was hesitant about the 5 star rating) but there's enough good waiters to make up for the bad, and there's enough queso to drown all my frustrations. read more

I came in to Chuy's with mediocre expectations, and surprise surprise! That was what I got. They were open late at night and since I did not feel like cooking that worked great for me. We came in around 10 PM and were immediate seated. There are a few other patrons in the restaurant so I did not feel so crazy. Our drink orders were take a few moments after we sat down, so I went with the pomegranate margarita and a glass of water. That drink is sooooo sweet by the way (and not very strong). Soon our waitress came by to take our order. I went with the Baja tacos with fish and Charro beans instead of the refried option. Considering the place was not very full, our orders took quite a while to arrive. That meant that we had plenty of time to feast on the chips, salsa, and MSG laden creamy jalapeño dip (that is an assumption made after my guest got pretty sick from eating the sauce). The food eventually arrived and I started by tasting the rice and beans. The rice just wasn't very great at all, and lacked seasoning. The beans were hella spicy, and were obviously made much earlier in the evening. The fish was freshly fried though, and the tacos overall were not bad. Now the big problem came when I got my check, and was charged for two extra drinks. However, our waitress quickly took care of it, and apologized. I appreciated that she took ownership for their mistake, but I don't know if I'll be returning to Chuy's again. It was seriously an only "Okay" experience. read more

Food is fine, but service needs work. I called last week to place a to go order to take back to the nearby hotel at which I was staying. The initial person answering the phone transferred me over to the area of the restaurant that handles to go orders, but I was on hold for over 5 minutes. I hung up, waited a few minutes and called back. The same person put me on hold and transferred the call again, but no one picked up for the second time. I ended up going to Jersey Mikes next door instead. Back in town this week, I decided to give it one more try around lunch time. My co-worker and I sat in the half full bar area. 15 minutes went by and no one had come to our table yet to take drink orders or bring menus. Went for a table in the main dining area hoping that service would be faster in there. It was not. Operationally, there are issues that need to be corrected at this location. We had been regulars to chuys sugar land after it opened up a year or so ago. We were happy to see it close to us. We used to go Westheimer. It used to be good but recently not really. We went today and food wasn't great. Our Fajita was little to cold side and service was ok as well. Also in the past they took our 2 kids free coupon and gave adult menu free. That's what they told us and we can do and we did it in the past. So I assumed today they will do as well but the manager was so rude and said few things which really frustrated me. I was telling him you only gave this last time and why not this time. For that he said that "It's ain't going to happen" and I am telling you all politely." That really made upset how they are handling customers. I am business owner myself and that's not how you handle customer. Really, man. I love Chuy's and I am glad there is one close to my house now! The service still needs to be worked on, but they just opened and probably have a lot of newly hired servers that are still figuring out how to juggle multiple tables. Went to this location a few weeks after they first opened and it was on a weekday night. It was packed with a 30-45 minute wait to eat in. The food was good basically classic Chuy's. It's just too crazy to dine in. I have now ordered to go twice and they are very efficient and even have a frequent to go punch card to reward you for your orders to go. Please note they do charge an additional fee for containers for to go orders but not having to wait makes it worth it. They even pack you the salsa and chips free to go. Probably wouldn't bother with eating in but okay with to go. read more

My wife and I met two friends last Thursday. We are no strangers to Chuys, we have been to probably 8 different ones all over Texas. The food is great, as is the atmosphere, regardless of where you go. The reason this is not at least a 4 star is because of the service. Our waitress was pretty awful. Chuys knows how to staff according for rushes, so there was no reason for why she showed up a total of 3 times from beginning to end. We are hoping that this is not indicative of the Sugar Land Chuys although the reviews would say it is. read more

I took my sister for lunch today still celebrating her birthday week! I misread the menu and ordered a chile relleno with oven roasted chicken thinking that I was ordering just oven roasted chicken with charro beans. The waitress was super sweet and offered to take it back. I had told her that it was fine. It was not a problem it was my error. She offered twice and I told her that it was fine it was not a problem. In the next few minutes I had a manager at my table asking me about my order and immediately replaced it with just what I wanted! The service was quick and great! We visited this location after having a not so great experience at the Katy location. We went on a Sunday around 5 pm and there weren't very many people dining. We were seated and orders were taken promptly. The child's meal arrived first, which I liked because it was very hot! By the time the rest of the food arrived, it was mostly cooled down. My husband and my food came piping hot! The waitress was very nice, a little soft spoken but very nice! The only complaint I have is the flies! I don't know if they had a door open or what but we had to request extra napkins to cover the food. We were swatting flies away every 5 seconds. Other than that, everything else was good. read more

I only give this place 3 stars because host "Justus" warmly welcomes me almost every afternoon I come . And I have yet to have a bad server, but the food and cleanliness of the place makes me a bit sad. Silverware clams to be sanitized but never seems to be clean always spotty. I've asked for an empty cup and not suprised at all that when I received it and stuck my napkin down in it brown stuff appeared on my white napkin. Gross. menus frequently stink and the saddest thing is irtve only had one good tres leches and boy was it good, but ever since that one all them taste like peppers and freezer bun. Ugh . I can't believe after moving to Texas from California, I finally found a Mexican restaurant that serves great enchiladas. This place is amazing and I have been here 3 times in the past month to order the stacked enchiladas. The prices are great, staff is friendly, and salsa is fresh. The only downside is the 6% charge on to go orders but it's well worth it. read more

Usually service isn't That Bad!!! Waited at the bar to place a to-go order. Three girls walked passed & never acknowledged me. The couple next to me got 2 more drinks, watched the red haired bartender get on her phone. After 10 mins I believe the mgr finally asks me for help. Then she grabs a very unenthused girl from the back to place my order. I asked for a drink while I waited for my food....a few minutes later a woman sits down next to me and the red haired bartender instantly approaches her, remembers her usual order and within minutes fixes her a drink. 20 minutes later, I still have no food nor any drink.
