Ate on the patio so there was ample social distancing. Sat for a good 10 minutes with chips and sauces with no drinks or water. The sauce is great but spicy so we really needed our drinks. A different server asked us if we had placed a drink order and after telling her we had been waiting a bit she took care of it. My date and I decided to practice Houstonian Traditions and embark on an adventure to a Tex-Mex restaurant. When walking into Chuy's, we were traumatized by the abundance of colors, spanning the entirety of the rainbow and then some, as well as the sea of fish all over the walls and ceilings that were uncomfortably staring us down throughout the entirety of our meal. It reminded me of the yellow submarine and Beatles movie, and also to not pop acid on an empty stomach. We proceeded to the bar, where we planned to watch the Astros beat the Angels while we dined and imbibed our spirits. However, we were met with more sets of eyes uncomfortably staring us down. This time, though, they were the eyes of children. Lots and lots of children. Their faces were awkwardly plastered around the TV, behind a bar (which is no place for children to be), making us painfully aware that cancer is an equal opportunity employer that targets youth of all shapes and colors. As we attempted to enjoy our meal, we couldn't help but feel guilt for having both full heads of hair, as well as the ability to shamelessly consume 3,000 calories worth of greasy goodness, while drinking $10 martinis with our pinkies up. My date ordered the chuychanga, which hinted to me I may be getting laid tonight, so I decided to order the meatiest combo plate they had to offer. This boded well for me while ordering, until I realized I had a martini glass in front of me and my date was drinking Bud Light from a bottle. When her chuychanga arrived, I quickly became intimidated. It's sheer massiveness left me feeling demasculated. I had never seen a log of white meat that large in my life. The array of meat sprayed across my own plate quickly became a metaphor of my dying manhood. I was able to mask my tears by pointing out that the Astros Game was playing Astrodome memories, which made the tears more dramatic and allowed me to continue to cry my manhood away while my date joined in with tears of nostalgia for the 8th wonder of the world. By the end of our meal, we had endured a colorful dining experience, drank our way past penny stealing cancer pamphlets, and cleared the air that those margarita flavored condoms will finally get used. However, our adventure was not yet over. w We noticed a flier on the wall stating that we could get a free appetizer if we brought a framed picture of a dog. This reminded me of the last hit of acid I had in my truck and I quickly became motivated to make my childhood dream come true and break in to the local kennel in the name of free queso. All in all, we had a mostly fantastical experience. The only thing preventing a five star rating was the shameful feeling of regret that we walked out with after realizing that our arteries were clogged with queso and grease, as well as the ongoing discomfort of knowing that we were unable to peacefully dine knowing that thousands upon thousands of eyes, both human and fish, were staring at us in anger as we attempted to enjoy the life they wish they had. read more

I usually love Chuy's but I've had several bad experiences at this Sugarland location. Last night I went in for dinner with a friend. We were seated in the bar, which was fine but it took close to 15 mins for us to be greeted by a server. When I finally asked someone if we could place our order he walked over and asked "What do you need" as if he was put out by my request. The food felt like it was thrown on the plate, there were dozens of burnt pieces in the rice which made it hard to chew and it was just an all around unpleasant experience. I don't expect to be swept off my feet with the service at a restaurant like Chuy's but I'm not sure I'll be coming back to this location. read more

Ordered for pick-up tonight and it was an AMAZING experience. It was fresh, fast, and delicious. It was also very little contact. Ordered dinner at 6:30PM was told it would be ready at 7:00PM. I arrived at 6:55PM and texted the number the spot my car was in. Within seconds the food was at my passenger window. The nice lady placed it in my car, and that was it! When I arrived home, there was SO much food . Their faijta pack says it feeds 4, but it could feed more. The most bang for your buck. Not only was there a lot, but it was so fresh and tasty. Chuy's is generally not my first choice when it comes to Mexican food. A lot of people rave about Chuy's sauce but I find the sauces good, but not a favorite. We hired Chuys Sugar Land to cater a Patient Party for our medical practice. We had taken several quotes from similar area restaurants and the cost was astronomical. Some restaurants would not deliver or serve, but the price was still very high. Chuys set up a nacho bar and a taco bar. They brought serving pans and the sterno burners. Two servers came with everything in their vehicle. They made the set up and cleanup look effortless. The food was delicious. The servers were friendly and engaging. We had absolutely no issues and we would hire them again in a second. Several managers helped me along the way and they all kept good notes so the manager on duty would know the history of our discussions. Chuys Sugar Land is a hidden gem. My toddler and I walked in together for dinner. There was one lady already standing in front of us. The two hostesses at the stand just looked at my toddler and I and did not say a word. We waited for over five minutes with no one acknowledging us, the one lady still standing ahead of us. I noticed a male come up to the lady and say something about her table being set up and I finally ask the hostesses if there was a wait to be seated. One hostess looked startled and asked for how many before telling us there was no wait. We were ten feet away from the lady ahead of us, never spoke to her and yet the Caucasian hostess immediately assumed we were with this woman simply because we were of Asian descent. The manager, Susan, told me they go like that when they are cold, (which is crap cause we literally LIVE at Chuys) and to throw them in a pan and that'll fix them - NO. Anyways, she offered to put something in the mail for me, I tried to decline, she insisted (all the while making me out to be some incompetent tortilla eater), I hang up, and off I go to reheat my tortillas (which, for the record, just made them crunchy and snap-able) While I'm hearing the tortillas, my husband informs me that everything is stone cold. The meat, the veg, the rice - everything. STONE COLD. She truly should not be working here, or any customer-based business. She was unfriendly, never said a word to us, and had an attitude when we asked for a booth instead of the table she took us to. Chuys in Sugar Land, whaa whaa? Pretty much the highlight of the month for my little suburbia life. One of my friends knew about this restaurant recently opening and suggested we go here for dinner. Great experience for the most part! We walked in and were promptly seated and greeted by our waitress. She was a young and very funny girl who made our whole stay quite entertaining. She also took great care of us. We of course started out with the amazing chips and dip. Great as usual. Since my friend and I pretty much went hog wild on the chips and dip (we were starving and they are just so dang good!), she came by many times to refill us! She always came by before we ran out and was very attentive. A manager also came by and said hello. I dunno if it's just because this place is new, but everyone in the restaurant was very nice and more friendly than usual restaurant staff. Anyway, we ended up ordering the chicken fajitas to share. They were pretty good. The only issue was that my friend thought she got a raw piece. She called over the waitress who examined the meat and said it definitely looked raw to her as well. But then the manager came over (I know, this became a big affair..) and explained that that was actually the middle part of the breast and contains the cartilage, which is why it looks uncooked, but is actually not. He said it shouldn't have been on our plate since the chef is supposed to remove it, but it's not uncooked meat. He was very nice about it and explained everything thoroughly. However, I personally feel that if something ended up on our plate that shouldn't have, they should give us a discount or be more apologetic or something. I have been to the Chuy's on Westhimer several times and it's the reason I LOVE this resturant - but this location wasn't as on point. I got take out from here and the fajita meat was just ok - normally Chuy's fajitas are off the CHAIN. I'd been craving Pappasito's but too lazy to drive - well this wasn't a substitution at all. My daughter didn't eat all of quesadillas either and she will mow down just about anything on a plate. Can't say I'll return. Too bad, it's in a good out of the way location and the layout is great with a patio and everything. Hmmmph. Oh well! **update: the General Manager reached out to me and I explained what happened in detail. He genuinely wanted to hear my feedback and explained the company had switched product providers. The atmosphere is very nice, and the lighting and decorations were very interesting and suitable for a family style dinner. The waitress was very nice but the chips that are server before the meal were the bomb . Com. Although they only give you salsa, you can ask for the creamy jalepeno sauce which is greeeeeeeeeeeat. The chips are salted and add a bit of an acidic fruit juice(lemon or lime) it gives a refreshingly savory flavor. The whole platter we got was a little "dry" With the meat and the queso wasnt as good as I expected. Some of the food tasted really refrigerated with the frozen food taste. Disgusting. I know we were the easiest customers that went in and out in less than hour. Had a tired toddler and husband so I requested the apps before anything then when she came back with drinks I ordered and asked if it could get rushed since everyone was so tired. The chips were overcooked and the oil obviously needed to be changed out. The food was ok, the cheese was burnt around the edges of my child's food and I cut that off. My husbands food didn't taste as good. The customer service was just lousy, I walked in and the hosts thought no one was in front of them when I was standing there for over 2 mins and then finally someone said "oh hi, didn't see you" when I was standing right in front of them and I looked them all three in the eyes. It was just crazy, didn't know I was invisible. And the waitress wasn't even better, it seems like the lack of customer service is completely normal there. I feel as if the customer service just stopped and I'm glad we do not come here as often anymore. Oh Chuy's what can we say about Chuy's. Let's just say that after a visit here, you are guaranteed to feel "Chuy" on the toilet. The service is terrible. Most of the servers/waiters are young teens that lack personality. Our poor waiter looked upset to be working here, he also forgot to bring us napkins (an essential when eating refried beans and gooey cheese). I personally think that the Chuy's off of westheimer is 10x better than this one, but sometimes you wanna go to a place closer to home. Chuy's is supposed to be known for their "famous" enchiladas, so that should be your best bet. I ended up having the South Western enchiladas which are served on a blue corn tortilla with a side of beans and rice. It was pretty tasty, but nothing extraordinary. The margaritas here are pretty great though,so if you have enough of those you'll probably forget how crappy the service and food is. For 10 bucks a plate you can eat some mediocre food at Chuy's.
