when you walk into a restaurant and there are white linen tablecloths and the waiters are wearing ties, then you know you are in for a quality evening. there is a nice roomy yet comfy atmosphere to go with amazing service. the food however is the star. Everything we had was prepared with attention to detail from the chicken ciao bella to the branzino that my uncle had (very fresh). he also had the oysters which he enjoyed very much. my wife had the beet salad which was a meal in itself. can't wait to come back here. what a nice find. read more

Truly - I don't even look at a menu anymore when I go. I just let Gunny (who manages/runs Ciao Bella) tell me what's good and I can always get something tweaked to suit my preferences. My first impression when walking in was that we were entering a NYC dance club as they were blasting club music over the speakers, definitely not what we expected to hear for a place that claims to offer fine Italian dining. The owner, a tall bald man in his mid 50's whom greeted us, was less than pleasant, almost rude even. The cold vibe with all the staff was highly uncomfortable... perhaps because they are overworked and short staffed, as there was only one waiter and two bus boys on the floor working. They all seemed absolutely miserable, including the bartender...none of them smiled even once while we were there. Each and every one of them had an angry look on their faces. Service was very slow, when the food eventually came out it was average, at best. No wine recommendations whatsoever from the clueless staff...the hugest disappointment as my wife and I are wine enthusiasts. The interior of the restaurant is pretty and the bathrooms were clean. I'd give this place another shot but after speaking to other locals, apparently the service here has went down hill drastically in the last year. read more

We walked in and greeted by cold stare by the manager, and asked if we have reservation. He then reluctantly gave is a table. We seated at 7:10，the food came at 8:30. We went there when it first opened years ago it and was not good. We decided a second chance after pandemic and again possibly the worst restaurant we have been. We were three couples. The service was terrible , we had to grab our own menus. How can an Italian restaurant have bad bread. It was not warm and tasted two day old. The woman wanted white wine, they had none, but offered a Prosecco. Undrinkable, tasted like sugared soda. The others order a Makers Mark bourbon neet, but came with a full glass of ice. Took almost a hour to get our appetizers, baked mozzarella, and fried calamari. Tasted like they used frozen calamari. The women had a chicken dish, all were rubbery and should have returned it but that entrees took one hour and forty five minutes. I ordered salmon medium rare pink on the inside. Came over cook, that I returned. They replaced the dish and it came back totally raw and was way to salted. The head waiter and owner could care less. Never said we are sorry, A horrible experience, expensive for they offered. Go to a pizza restaurant and have a slice. Would be a way better experience. read more

Ciao Bella is our favorite Italian restaurant. My husband and I have dinner there at least once a week. We are treated like family and the food is spectacular. The portobello mushroom ravioli is outstanding and the baked clams are the best anywhere. The staff make any accommodations you ask for. Even the bread is fantastic. My wife and I had dinner last evening at Ciao Bella and the service,food and value was outstanding! Outstanding! Our server Louis was absolutely terrific and wonderful to talk to! He didn't miss a thing during the entire night being extremely attentive and gracious. The drinks were generously poured and the food was amazing. We also had the great, great pleasure of meeting the owner Guni (not sure I have the spelling correct) who was terrific in every way. Ciao Bella is a warm,beautiful place and they make you feel like you're family. Our busboy, whose name I unfortunately can't remember,was also terrific. We were staying at Resorts World casino which is a very short drive from Ciao Bella. We highly recommend this great Restaurant and it's owner and staff! Tried this restaurant out for the first time tonight on Valentine's Day. We live out of town but made a reservation based on the great reviews on here. The ambiance was beautiful. All tables had a rose on it and there were heart balloons and Valentine's decorations throughout the restaurant. The service was very good. We had the chicken martini which was delicious as well as Caesar salad and shrimp cocktail. Everything was so good. Was too full for dessert, but had some cappuccino which was also very good. When my pasta was delivered to my table, I noticed there was a hair in it A dark, curly hair sitting in between a creamy white piece of pasta and a succulent red chunk of tomato. A sullen looking thin balding man ( the maitre d?) came to the table and told me he would "take the dish to the kitchen" to remove the hair. REMOVE THE HAIR? Excuse me? I was aghast. I could not believe that his solution was to have the hair removed as opposed to having a new dish prepared. Is there a rating less than one star? I am considering reporting this establishment to the board of health. Disgusting. read more

Something going on here, my friend and I both ordered martinis mine with Titos hers with Grey Goose when the tall bald guy (who we think is the manager) brought over our drinks he had no idea which one was which he found it amusing we didn't. The drinks were not made at the bar but in the back, same with my husband's old fashioned his first one was terrible so we went up to the bar to ask the barmaid who was very young if she wanted help how to make at this time we had already ordered a second one she also came from the back with a shaker with the ingredient's in it already, do you see where this is going who knows what kind of alcohol they were giving definitely the cheap stuff. The manager/shyster also at the end of the meal tried to short us $30 in cash we paid cash my friend a card gave him instructions and he came back without the $30 if we didn't say anything that would have gone in his pocket. I will end this that the food wasn't terrible but the service/attitudes were. Save your money go somewhere else. Pretty sketch place, never again. read more

My family and I were up in the Monticello area from NYC and wanted some delicious Italian food. We were lucky to eat at Ciao Bella. The service, food and drinks were delicious. The bread and spicy peppers in oil before our food was so good. We ordered calamari for our appetizer and they were cooked to perfection. Everyone at my table loved their food... perfect portions, great flavor and we did not wait long for our food. I had the Pollo D'Agostino and highly recommend it. We were visiting upstate and found Ciao Bella.  The whole experience was incredible.  We walked in and were greeted by the manager; it was very busy and we did not have a reservation.  Gunny was able to get us a table.  From then, the service was top notch and you would  think you were in New York City.  Gunny was so attentive, funny, and made us feel like family.   We felt like we were VIP in the restaurant.  You could see that it wasn't just us, as everyone else was receiving the same service.  He made multiple rounds to ensure everyone else was receiving superb service.  The food and wine were all incredible.  We had rigatoni bolognese and it was the best I've ever had.  When Gunny came back to check on us, I was able to order more; I couldn't resist.  You'd think this man was the owner by the way he carried himself through the restaurant.  We will definitely be back! read more

On an overnight stay in Monticello, I decided to go to Ciao Bella for dinner because of the mostly positive reviews. Started with Calamari Fritti which was very good, wished there were some legs!!! Had linguine vongole which was good. Ended with tiramisu very satisfying and cappacino which was really strong. Nice atmosphere, very attentive service. The service was fantastic and the food was excellent. For an appetizer we had pan seared scallops over potato pancake with a creamy mushroom sauce. It was delicious. We didn't have a reservation but we were still seated. The food was wonderful and was authentic. The owner, Gunny, was really nice and sweet to my 2 girls. This guy runs a tight ship so I can see how he can come across as tough especially if you don't have a reservation based on the reviews here. We sat near the kitchen area and I can hear him turning down business on the phone because he simply had no room for anymore reservations. This is a family business and the service was fine nothing to complain about. The food was delish the wine was fantastic and unfortunately we had no room for dessert. Next time we are in the area we will definitely visit Gunny again and make a reservation ahead of time! read more
