Love this place, stumbled upon it as I was walking around downtown. I knew this place was special when I saw all the locals eating and talking. The line to place your orders wasn't bad at all. Day one I got a Reuben and it was so good, I got another the next day. I could not leave town without trying a breakfast sandwich.... man am I glad I did. I actually got a breakfast burrito and it's the best one I've had. Make no mistake if your downtown in the Gaslamp area and want to try a hidden gem and maybe pick up some Woodford or Buffalo Trace got later...this is the place. Loved it! read more

Came here for lunch and called in to order a Ruben sandwich. The portion is a good amount but the price isn't since the meat they used is just a reg presses deli meat. Not the freshly made pastrami. I got a croissant breakfast sandwich here. The food was decent and very standard/ nothing special. The croissant was from Costco (likely) and I don't think anything is homemade. It's a easy, quick place to get breakfast on the way to the Convention Center but I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. On Monday, October 22, 2007 I evacuated my family from the Witch Creek fire to the Hilton Gaslamp. Any-who, Monday night was rough on me and the wife because my oldest daughter, age 2, wouldn't go to sleep. She kept jumping on our bed till 1:30 am, then finally cried herself to sleep. So 7:30 am on Tues, I told my exhausted wife that I would pick up breakfast across the street at Cine. The woman behind the counter said I would have the greatest breakfast sandwich. She was right, 3 eggs on a large toasted croissant w/tomato, cheese and bacon. AWESOME! I bought one more for the wife along with coffee for us both. The great thing is their food is GOOD!!! During Comic-Con, I spent $17 for a personal pizza and a Gatorade. Cine' Cafe' is the Gaslamp version of a neighborhood corner store...except much bigger. Cine' Cafe' is pretty much like a huge grocery store condensed into the size of a happy meal. You can find everything here, food, liquor, household necessities, office products, frozen TV dinners, and on and on. There is also a deli inside that makes huge sandwiches...I mean big enough for two people to share. The only reason that Cine' Cafe' is getting docked a star is just because their prices are a little more pricey than I think they should be...typically like a $1 more markup than the grocery store and in some cases $2 more, which seems a bit high. But otherwise, when the need is just something quick and easy, Cine' Cafe' is there for ya. read more

I'm at a conference at the Hard Rock hotel, and the conference is not providing us lunch during the lunch meetings. This market is right around the corner, and super quick and cheap with their very tasty boxed salads. Why five stars? Day one, excellent spinach salad, I'm paying (only $6!) and the woman says, "do you want fresh bacon?", and pops five pieces of hot bacon onto it ... sweet! Day two, good teriyaki chicken salad, but I am a klutz and drop the dressing all over the floor, and they are totally, genuinely cool about it. Very nice people, all around a good deal! read more

I would not call this a cafe. Really, it's a liquor store/minimart with a food counter. As an ex-NYer, this warms my heart. Attending a conference nearby, I came here almost daily for breakfast. Breakfast sandwiches were served hot, overflowing with meat, and very reasonably priced. I didn't have the lunch sandwiches but they looked pretty good (and are premade so you can grab and go). I didn't have their coffee which was pretty unimpressive but they have a good selection of drinks like orange juice, red bull, soda, etc. If you're on a budget, come here and grab a bacon and egg on a roll or a breakfast burrito. You've pretty much got breakfast and lunch for two. Don't go out of your way to find this place, but if you're staying at the Hard Rock hotel or attending something at the Convention Center, you'll thank me. read more

They carry eggs, bacon and some fruit, the fruit is always fresh. Their fast food frozen items are priced well and they are of good quality. Leti, behind the prep counter is the best, super friendly too. The guys running the show are great, friendly too. So far Cine Café is the best "Go to" market I've found in the Gaslamp. Needed some limes for the beers someone brought over. In and out in less than 30 seconds. But the sandwiches!!!! If you're a Bacon Lover, check out the BLT. They put an amazing amount of bacon in this yummy sandwich. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would give them negative 5!!!! I have been going here for over a year now and used to have great customer service! No that there are new managers and owners the manger is a complete prick! I tried to buy a bottle of wine that said $6.99 as a price on the bottle and he tried to charge me 18.99. Problem is I had already paid for my purchase of approximately 85 USD. He told me To take my money back and get out or he'll call the police. I went there, just because I've been going there so long today, (the other incident happened on Tuesday) and went to purchase a fifth of whiskey, a liter of Coke, a smart water and a bag of chips.... Nothing huge but my room mate an j generally spend about $75 each time we go and we go about four times a week. The manager told me her was the only one that could help me and if I did not want him to help me then I could leave. He said that because we had the incident with the wrong price on the bottle he wanted to make sure he was the only one that helped me, and I could wait until he had time! There was a cashier that was not doing anything but he would not let him ring me out. I then asked him if I could just be rung out by the guy not doing anything and he got mad and said if I did not leave he would call the police! I chose to leave and as I walked out he told me to never come back or he would have me arrested! I live a block away and this idiot tells a customer to never come back who spends at Least $ 300 a week with him.... Steer clear of this place! They will try and charge more than what is priced on the package and if you don't pay they will kick you out or have you arrested! read more

Convenience Store/Deli After a few days of going on the SDCC diet, we needed some sustenance for lunch, so we found this deli/convenience store. I have to admit you can find anything you need here, from candy, liquor to even lotto tickets. The two days we had ordered our 'lunch', we had ordered the triple and double decker sandwiches, and that was worth the value. It is a little pricier than what I am accustomed to at about $9 or $10 for each sandwich, but it's big enough to split for two people to eat, so the cost is cut in half. If you don't want to order the fresh sandwiches, you can also order pre-prepared ones too. With a good selection and a fresh taste, this is a good place to grab something to eat when you need some food. Next SDCC, this is the place for lunch. read more

I work around the corner from this place and its your typical "corner store" small but has pretty much everything you need. During the day they have the best sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast burritos all custom made to order. At night this is a great place to get a quick snack.....they have a great selection of protein bars and protein shakes! (dont judge me the summer is coming up!) TIP: Order the entire sandwich for $5.50 (even though it's humongous) and split it with a friend, rather than ordering half a sandwich for $4.50, unless you're doing some kind of soup/salad combo.
