TL;DR - For optimal experience, get whatever has just come out of the oven. The older ones aren't bad, but they're MUCH better fresh! I was craving a hot-out-of-the-oven chocolate chip cookie while we were strolling around Pike Place on a busy Wednesday afternoon, so I was eyeing every place that sold cookies. When we came upon this place, I noticed with excitement that they were completely out of the classic chocolate chip - which meant some were in the oven! Perfect. The guy behind the counter said they'd be out in about 10 minutes, so we strolled around the block and came back. Exactly 10 minutes later, I got one hot from the tray. (Did I mention they're the size of my face?) Yessss. That really hit the spot. I ate half, found a place to grab a much-needed carton of milk, and proceeded to polish the rest of the massive cookie off. #noregrets The other cookies looked interesting - and they have surprisingly wide selection of vegan items - but I'd recommend just getting whatever's the freshest (I tried a bite of my brother's - not warm - oatmeal raisin, and it was fine, which is about how I felt about the not-warm chocolate chip cookie I got here when I came a couple years ago). read more

This place doesn't look like much, but without a doubt their HUGE cookies will catch your eye (at least, that's what happened for me). I got the molasses cookie. Not only did it look amazing (even people walking past me commented on how great it looked) it was perfectly spicy, chewy on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. Four magic words: GLUTEN FREE CINNAMON ROLLS! Seriously, these cinnamon rolls are fantastic. We were in town for a week and came back every day for these. And we bought multiple at once, because as soon as we finished one we wanted another. I didn't care for any of their other GF cookies or muffins, of which we tried four or five kinds. I think it was too much cardamom - they had a weird aftertaste that lingered for a while. My partner, who has Celiac disease, did enjoy all the treats we got here, and he didn't get sick from cross-contamination of gluten, which is very real fear in a place like this that has GF and non-GF options. Because of that, this is definitely a must-see place for any gluten-free people in Seattle. Staffing leaves something to be desires. We met one guy with great customer service who was nice and friendly, but we also encountered a woman who seemed annoyed that we were there and put the cinnamon rolls in our bag without frosting them. read more

all I have to say is GLUTEN FREE COOKIES ALL IN MY FACE. Get them, love them, buy 50 for your flight home, screenprint the cookie on a graphic T and wear it every day. I am still dreamining about the pumpkin chocolate chip cookie all the way from California! Came here sometime in October and it's this small little bakery when you're walking to Pike's place. Easy to get a whiff of but also really easy to miss as you are walking by contemplating all the the other food options you can get but let me tell you, you have to stop!! Stop and smell the cookies and grab one! I got the pumpkin cookie with chocolate chips in it. It was DELICIOUS!! The cookie was GIANT it was around the size of my palm which was a pleasant surprise because I was able to snack on the cookie the whole day. It wasn't too doughy and had enough chocolate chips in it without being too sweet. Needless to say, I'm wishing someone would ship me one out here because it was so good. read more

It is just a walk up and order counter. You may have to be assertive with all the tourist taking forever to look in the display. This place is bit cheap my gluten free monster cookie was 5.50. This is perhaps more of a thank you than a review, but hopefully it'll help anyone else in similar situations. I walked by Cinnamon Works today and briefly glanced at the options, figuring there'd be nothing I could have, as I have an endless number of food intolerances/limitations. However, I know they have vegan and GF options so thought I'd check. I asked the person working at the counter, who was super friendly and helpful, what type of flour is used in the gluten-free flour. He showed me the list. To my delight, the pumpkin muffin uses only rice flour! This is huge for me as I am not only gluten-free, but also grain-free with the sole exception being rice. However, I'm also dairy-free (but not vegan), and again, having countless other food intolerances, I really thought I'd probably not be able to get anything. Well, the pumpkin muffin is GF, grain-free except rice, dairy-free, and somehow fits all of my limitations!!!! I cannot tell you how exciting this is for me, Cinnamon Works!!! I haven't been able to eat a single baked good of any kind for nearly a year, but right now I'm absolutely overjoyed to be eating the pumpkin muffin, which is utterly delicious!!!! I had originally planned to go to Cinnamon Works for one of their famous, gigantic cinnamon rolls. I love cinnamon and these decadent rolls are my weakness ... and one of my favorite breakfast treats. I knew Cinnamon Works opens early, so my first visit was on a Friday morning immediately after going to the Pike Place Market Starbucks. The elder gentleman who was working--the owner, I'm assuming--was really friendly, noticed my drink, said he had a housemade blend that trumped that (my Starbucks Venti caramel macchiato) and proceeded to hand me a sample of Cinnamon Works' house coffee. While I sipped on it, he gave me some recommendations on where to go in the market and advised me to visit the aquarium, since it was so close. I didn't get a chance to go because I was only in town for a short while, but I appreciated the fact that he took his time to talk to me and wanted me to make the most of my visit. I was eyeing the cinnamon rolls, which looked as fresh and glorious as I had imagined, but the huge cookies also caught my eye. I asked the guy working for recommendations, and he immediately told me to get the "Monster Cookie," saying that was what the bakery was famous for. He actually didn't mention the cinnamon rolls. I asked him if the cookie was crunchy or chewy, and he seemed appalled that the cookie would be crunchy. He reassured me that it was chewy and that it was a cookie unlike any other. He was right. There's also a great assortment of gluten-free treats and baked goods. Anything on the "red tape" side of the display case is GF, and it seemed like half of the available pastries were GF. Love visiting small businesses like this one. I'll definitely be back ... and this time, for the cinnamon rolls, for real. "Monster Cookie": This cookie is a monster simply because of its size--not even looking at all the ingredients in it--but I actually downed it in one sitting. I had only intended to take a small bite shortly after getting it and wanted to save the rest for later, but it was seriously so good that I could NOT stop eating it. I also noticed the oils seeping through the pastry bag and didn't want that to end up in my purse ... so, I reasoned, it would be more beneficial for me to finish the entire cookie in one sitting while it was still fresh than to wait until later (and see all the greasy butter stains). This cookie was simply marvelous and I would highly recommend it if you're just getting one item from Cinnamon Works. Of course, there's a great assortment of other cookies you can get; I was distracted momentarily by the seasonal pumpkin chocolate chip and the peanut butter ... and regular chocolate chip. But I was really glad I ended up with the "Monster" and I would order it again in a heartbeat. It includes butter, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, oats, baking soda, peanut butter, chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, walnuts and butterscotch chips. I can see why this cookie is the bakery's signature treat. The cookie is indeed very soft, chewy and tender ... it was like it came right out of the oven before I stopped by the kiosk. I loved the texture and additional chewiness from the oats. I could aptly, taste the chocolate chunks, butterscotch and peanut butter chips, and the nuttiness and crunchiness from the walnuts. This was like a mixture of all the cookies I wanted to get rolled into one. The greasy stains on the pastry bag were evident of ALL the butter that's in this cookie ... but it was worth it. It's probably a good thing I don't live in close vicinity to Cinnamon Works. I would probably be there every weekend for a cookie if I did. read more

I loved this bakery because they have a few gluten free vegan options, but within the past year I have tried going here over 5 or 6 times and they are ALWAYS closed. Even when it says on their website/yelp they are open I have showed up and their doors are closed. They don't answer their phone and they never have consistent hours. I don't understand. read more

This is the best place I have ever went too!! I would recommend this place to everyone!! I'm gluten and dairy free which makes finding a place to eat very hard! But this place has it all!! They have snickerdoodles here! SCORE! That's at least 4 stars right there. I walked past while visiting the market for a meeting and saw cookies the size of pizzas out of the corner of my eye. The next thing I knew I was standing at their counter spending $12 on giant cookies! The money is worth it though. I asked the woman behind the counter for a suggestion and she not only told me about her favorite cookies, she also listed the cookies that were most recently baked, the ones that were wheat free, and the ones that were vegan. WOAH! I didn't expect her to be so helpful. I walked out with a few snickerdoodles (my fave) and a monster cookie that had butterscotch, chocolate, and peanut butter chips in it. They were so tasty! I recently discovered this gem in the Pike Market when I was forced to go gluten-free. :( Thank God I used my Yelp App while I was working downtown when I had the worst craving for some dang cookies ASAP! Breezing through the crappy other options, I was pleased to find this bakery only a couple of blocks from my work. WHEW! Potential disaster averted. I stumbled my way down the hill to the market in a cookie-driven haze. My mind almost exploded at the sheer amount of gluten-free goodies. I selected some sort of mega-cookie will all kinds of stuff in it, like oats, chocolate chips, coconut...YES! I also got a shortbread cookie that I swore I would save until later. Later happened to be 10 minutes, once I had returned to my office. The only small downside (and reason for the 4 stars) is the price. One of my cookies was $4 dollars! BIG. ASS. COOKIES... That's all you need to know about this bakery located in the touristy heart of Pike Place Market. They are knonw for their Cinnamon Rolls but on the two occasions that we passed, the large Vegan version didn't look as appealing as the "regular" as it lacked a traditional icing. The second time around, they were out. So instead with went with the aforementioned big ass cookies. These suckers aren't just big in circumference. They are also thick and chewy. We went with the Vegan Snicker Doodle, and Chocolate Chip. Both cookies were dense, yet soft. The choco chip was excellent the first day we ate it. Massive, toothsome, lots of chips and walnuts. Very tasty. A full day later, the snicker doodle was almost as good as it would be fresh. Maybe the best snicker doodle I've ever had. Even if there's not much competition out there on the Vegan front. Sure $4.50 is a lot to pay for a cookie. Then again, it's basically two cookies in one. Great for sharing. Or if you're like us, just try them all and regret it later. read more

So good, it is worth having to shove through throngs of tourists. They have wheat free, sugar free, dairy free, and various combinations thereof. What they don't seem to have is something that is all three. I wonder if it is possible to have a baked good that is free of wheat, sugar, and dairy, or would it then cease to be a baked good? Is it just a matter of semantics? Maybe I should ask one of the annoying guitar playing guys nearby what they think. I do know this, their big cookies are pricy (I know they say "spendy" here in the PNW but I can't bring myself to say it too) but well worth it, especially if you, like me, have a sweet tooth but a need to avoid sugar. You can't not stop when you smell the wafting scent of cinnamon rolls baking in the oven. Lucky for the BF, there were several gluten free options to choose from. He nabbed the last gluten free cinnamon roll, which was unfrosted, but the lady behind the counter kindly drizzled frosting on top and popped it in the oven to warm it right up. I went for a peanut butter cookie (all the gluten and dairy in that one!). It's as big as my head so I made it through approximately 3 bites before I had to wrap it up for later. I recommend pairing it with a coffee drink, which they serve. $4 minimum on credit cards and 50cent service charge. If you're on the hunt for a pastry and also happen to be gluten free or vegan, this is the place for that in the market. read more

Anyways, off to Cinnamon Works I ventured yesterday to try yet another object on the Seattle Foodie 100 list - the pumpkin cookie. I was not made aware ahead of time that it came in 2 varieties - frosted and not. What self respecting Jedi doesn't go for frosting though? So that's the one I chose. First, serving size. This thing is HUGE. I mean, like, a whole meal by itself huge. I don't even want to know how many calories it is. I'm sure my yoga instructor is going to give me the 5th degree about it next time I go to Dantooine. For the price, it was a veritable bargain, which is something you can't always find in Pike Place. The cookie itself? Was really more like a frosted cake. It was shaped like a cookie, but the consistency was...different. That's not a good or a bad thing, just is what it is. The first few bites were pretty damn tasty. And this is where my problem with this dish ultimately comes into play: Given its massive girth, it is entirely too sweet. It's sooooooo rich. I honestly couldn't finish the thing, I only got about halfway through. Know how you can be eating pancakes and every bite is a little chomp of heaven, and then just all of a sudden they become disgusting? It's like that. I was afraid if I took one more bite I would pull my cloak over my helmet and start screaming about being The Great Cornholio. I found myself very quickly "over it" with regards to this confection. I'm not sure how this can be addressed, but it is what it is. As such, I can only in good conscience give Cinnamon Works 3 Deathstars, even though the first 2 bites were clearly 5 stars, and the second pair of bites were probably 4's. Usually when a place claims something as "famous" it sucks. Not the case with Cinnamon Works famous pumpkin cookie. This thing is a genius marriage of pumpkin bread and a cookie. And if you get the one with frosting on top you'll never go back to chocolate chip cookies again. Although they do have chocolate chip cookies too. But really, who cares? Back to the pumpkin cookie. This sugar attack is huge - big enough for sharing but screw that - eat it all yourself, you'll be glad you did. It's soft, kinda like pumpkin bread with the stability of a cookie. On top is a hardened dollop of cream-cheese frosting. Hells yeah. If you're lucky enough to get it warm, consider yourself blessed by the cookie deities. The only thing that could make this cookie better is if Johnny Depp were feeding it to me. While wearing his Pirates costume. Even though the boyfriend and I were only in Seattle for 3 days we went back to Cinnamon Works 3 times for these stupid things. Confession: I primarily bought a large cookie here so I could take a pic of it right near my face to show people how HUGE it truly is! But, it didn't turn out so well which means I'm not posting it here. After that slight letdown, I will say that the chocolate chip I went with was also a slight letdown. It was average, I felt the chocolate taste was lacking. I liked it enough to eat it all but not much in comparison to some of the other sweets at Pike Place Market. I'd still say it's pretty cool to try one, they have a Monster one and a pumpkin one that looked good too, among others. I just wasn't blown away. Awesome cookies, bars, breads, and muffins baked on site. Delicious monster cookies, lots of vegan/gluten free options, and around St. Patricks Day they make a stellar Guinness bread. I've been eating the sticky buns since I was a little girl and they are delish! The only reason for this not being a 5 star is the service is inconsistent. I can imagine dealing with tourist all day is not a joy but there are plenty of times when I feel like I'm boring a hole in one of the staff member's heads just trying to make eye contact and get some service. The staff was very accommodating and drew me up lovely directions for their vegan cinnamon rolls which came out AMAZING. Nice find across the Pike Marketplace area. This place really makes great pastry. We tried the oatmeal raisin cookies (regular size) and the cinammon-raisin rolls. Yummy. All items freshly baked with great aromas. They do have gluten free items and items for the vegans out there. Oh, and they do have monster cookies for $4. Cookies were tender and moist and very tasty. Cinammon roll was just superb. Have not had one like this one in a long time. Friendly staff. Has selection of drinks also. This place is great! And before you say "holdup, $4 for a cookie?" you need to know these cookies are COLOSSAL and well worth the $4+. They have vegan and gluten free options, which I appreciate. These cookies are more than a snack - they're dense and will fill you up. I recommend the monster cookie unless you are not fond of peanuts, since the peanut butter taste is pretty strong. In that case I'd go for the snickerdoodle, equally large, soft and chewy. Always a great stop in Pike Place! read more

I LOVE COOKIES!!! I just can't resist a good cookie! It's the perfect snack on the go for a sweet tooth like me. I love them freshly baked, but if they aren't, I love to microwave them until it is faux-freshly baked :). While at Pike Place Market, I spotted these GINORMOUS cookies and had to shuffle my way through the guy on the corner turning tricks with his little bird and all the tourists taking photos just to get a closer look at these cookies. The cookies are SO big, they are BIGGER than my face! I picked up a giant chocolate chip cookie for almost $4 and it was worth it b/c it took me THREE days to eat the whole thing myself. I took a bite of my friends pumpkin cookie that I really wanted (it was like a giant muffin top with frosting on top) but knew there'd be no way I could finish it myself. The bite was good enough, such a tasty treat! On our last day, we came back and I bought a peanut butter cookie for someone at home. I told the nice girl at the counter that I would be flying it back and though she didn't have a box big enough to fit the cookie, she packed it up nicely and it made the trip home without breaking. She was really nice and asked where I was from and chatted for a bit --- genuinely nice staff :). Since the cookie recipient happened to have a flu, I ended up having to eat the pb cookie with my sister. Don't feel too sorry for me. :). The cookie had a lot of peanut halves in it (that should tell you how big the cookie is!) and was so delicious! I don't think we ordered any vegan cookies, so I can't speak to that. But all of their cookies that I've had have a cinnamon aftertaste in them, true to their name. I thoroughly enjoyed my cookie and love how big and homemade it tasted! read more
