In 1987, this building became the first structure to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places for the city of Culver City. This historic building began as The New Citizen Building in 1929. It housed "The Citizen" a newspaper by Citizen Publishing Company prior to being transformed into a Food Hall and is a unique setting. It is really worth coming just to see it! The interior has neat architectural & artistic designs. We've eaten food from Bang Bang Noodles, The Jolly Oyster, Go Go Bird, & Goodboybob. Of these four places, only Go Go Bird still remains open here. Items we've had: *Go Go Bird - Chicken Wings, Pork Dumplings, and Japanese Cheddar Biscuit drizzled with Condensed Milk & Miso Powder from Go Go Bird. *Bang Bang Noodles - Smashed Chili Cucumbers & Tingling Cumin Noodles with sliced Lamb Shoulder *The Jolly Oyster - Crudo *Goodboybob - Matcha Latte, Cloud 9, & Blueberry Muffin In 2023 when we were here last, we had the option of scanning a QR Code to place an order, or order at the restaurant itself. I think you just order at each vendor now. There are seven restaurants there now: Uoichiba, Smokey Chance, Benevento, Jikoni, Sustainabowl, Go Go Bird, & Bar Bohemien. I am not a fan of public restrooms, but the ones here are so lavish and cool! The restroom area is unisex with the sinks in an open area. Each stall is completely enclosed, private, & have a cozy feel. This is probably the one of the only times I will rave about a restroom! The most challenging part of this area is finding parking. I think there are paid lots, but we usually park on the street at a meter. There is a parking garage pretty much across Culver Blvd. After eating in the Citizen Public Market, we would walk over to The Culver Steps and get ice cream from Salt & Straw before heading back to our car. I always love finding a good food hall since it's all about variety. Definitely need to go to these places with a few people who like to share food. This way could taste from various vendors. There's about eight different spots ranging from pizza, noodles, hot chicken, burgers, hand rolls, BBQ. The vibe is pretty chill and there's ample seating. You just place the order with the specific vendor and I'll text you when your food is ready or call out your number. Everything we had was pretty tasty from the bang bang noodles, to the chicken sandwich, of course with poutine fries and the pizza. There's tons of parking whether it's street parking or a paid parking garage. Plus, it's in the area of Culver City where there's tons of restaurants and shops around so you can spend more time in this area and just walk around. read more

I was thrilled to visit Citizens PublicMarket this Summer 2025, thanks to a friend who invited me to a pop-up event there! I decided to try something new and explore Jikonis African Cuisine by Kiano Moju. I absolutely loved it! Fun Fact: Jikonis is a fusion restaurant that combines Sultan Hamid from Kenya and Warri from Nigeria. I've been back four times already, each time bringing a new friend. The seating is cozy and intimate, surrounded by an open kitchen where the chef, Kiano Moju, prepares all the amazing dishes. I've included some photos, so you can see for yourself! The menu changes every week, with a new dessert of the day and some favorites staying on the menu. I even bought her cookbook! Here are some of the dishes I tried: 1. Peri-Peri Garlic Butter Shrimp: The shrimp had a nice tang and spice. 2. Suya Lamb: The lamb had a perfect texture, flavor, and wasn't too gamey. 3. Poussin Chicken Flight: The flavors were packed, and it was delicious. 4. Coconut Butter Beans: They had a wonderful balance of savory and coconut flavors. (Disclaimer: I'm a big coconut fan!) 5. Lime Chili Corn Ribs: They weren't too spicy or tangy, just perfect. 6. Pineapple Margarita: It had a hint of spice and was very refreshing. 7. Mango Cake: It was so good that I didn't even get a photo! The staff was warm, friendly, and super helpful in suggesting dishes on the menu. We love food halls because there is always a variety of things to eat. This food hall is located in downtown Culver City near other posh hangouts and restaurants in the area. There are plenty of street parking and garage parking in the location that you will either pay upon leaving or pay on a meter. All lots and spots are in the general vicinity and can get full on busy days or weekends. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was a bit busy so we drove to the next one a few blocks down from all the action. The food hall is beautiful and the vibe is pretty chill they have a cool bar on the 2nd floor where you can enjoy some high end cocktails and enjoy your day/night just chilling with your crew. There is also a great vareity of restaurants that range from pizza, fried chicken, ramen, sushi, bbq, and so much more. There is an option to order on your phone but not too many restaurants participate in that. Kitchen are pretty small but the fun thing is that you get to watch them cook up your meal which is cool. The food hall itself can also get a bit busy. There are a few tables inside and on the second floor you can find a full service bar and patio to overlook the city and take int he breeze. The great thing about a food hall like this is everyone can find something they like - very helpful especially when you're dealing with a picky eater. Seating is plentiful, both indoors and outdoors. There's even outdoor seating up on the rooftop, which is lovely. Restrooms are located on the first floor in the back, across from Go Go Bird. We picked up a slice of pizza and Italian sodas from Benevento, some smoked brisket from Smokey Chance BBQ, and a Chris Oh sandwich from Go Go Bird. Everyone was happy with their selections. This place is super vibey and has a number of different cuisine options. I ate at bang bang and would definitely go back. The staff seemed chill and helpful. The crowd seemed chill as well. The set up is food court style which is something to consider when going with a bigger group. They had the nba playoffs playing on an overheard projector in the back. This review is long overdue, and sadly it comes with bittersweet news: Citizen Public Market will be closing its doors in November 2025. That means we've only got a little over a month to show love and support to the amazing vendors that have called this space home. Citizen has always been one of my favorite foodie halls in LA not just because of the variety, but because of the culture and flavors you get all in one place. From hand rolls to fried chicken, pizza to poke bowls, it's been a foodie playground where you can try different textures and tastes from so many talented chefs. Over the years, some vendors have come and gone like WeHo Sausage and Bang Bang Noodles but the heart of this place never changed. Right now, there's even a new burger spot and an Afro-Cali vendor I still want to try before the final day. My go-to and all-time favorite here is Go Go Bird. Hands down, some of the BEST fried chicken in LA. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, juicy, and their fries with lemon aioli dipping sauce? Addictive. Don't skip their mac & cheese either, total comfort food perfection. Next up, Sustainabowl (the poke spot in the front). Their "Get in My Belly" bowl is my personal favorite, and make sure you get the black sauce drizzled on top, it takes it to another level. I've also had their fresh juices, which are light and refreshing. There's also the hand roll spot, I've only managed to try their buttery furikake edamame appetizer (seriously the BEST edamame I've ever had in my life), but I'm still determined to snag a seat at the bar before November to try their full hand roll experience. Pizza here is also solid, and let's not forget the bar upstairs, which will still remain open even after the food hall shuts down. But the magic of Citizen Public Market has always been about the food vendors, the families, and the groups of friends that filled this space. It's heartbreaking to see places like this close, because food halls like Citizen don't come around often. So if you've ever been curious or if you're already a fan, make the trip before November 2, 2025. Going to start with the one negative. Go Go Bird needs a better pickup setup. You order from them and there's no sense of when your food will be ready. They don't provide a pager or take a cell number. There's no announcements either. They have good food but I recommend ordering it online. WEHO Sausage Company provides a much nicer experience via their pagers. No need to constantly ask if your food is ready. Now on to the good stuff. I really like the food mall concept and this is a good representation of why. There was enough selection to keep both me and the rest of the family excited..... And that's what I wrote 4 months ago. I absolutely love Citizen Public Market. I've been here countless times over the years and recently had a friend visiting in town so we went here for lunch. It's a super cute "indoor market" with a bunch of different vendor options to choose from, indoor/outdoor seating and a roof top bar 10/10. The only item I was a bit disappointed on this time is two vendor spots were totally empty which reduced the number of choices. We ended up ordering from GoGoBird and Sustainabowl and both were delicious with great customer service. For parking, I'd recommend parking in the garage on Cardiff Ave (just two blocks down) off of Culver Blvd. read more

Lucked out with finding parking in the small lot that's free after 8pm. Checked out something new for a change. Heard quite a few things about this place and with the selections that were talked about, it sounded good. Cute concept, there's loads of the concept all over the places throughout Southern California. Right when you walk in, to the right upstairs you'll enter to a bar area. Nice layout, gastropub vibe. Drink menu were quite impressive with their mixed drink. Mixologist were good with their crafts. As you walk outside to the rooftop, there's plenty of seating both tables and hitop table. It's also covered incase it gets too hot as well as heat lamps. Great place for a cocktail or gathering with friends. In the back area, there's also outdoor patio downstairs. But inside is where the magic is. The vendors were a noodles station. Fresh noodles made both in a broth or dry style. The oyster bar, fresh seafood offered. Also a sushi counter, don't think you were able to order anything to go as they wanted you to sit at the counter. Then there's the fried chicken counter and another bar that also offers burgers. You order and wait till you hear your number. Some places said that they'll text you when your order was ready but we never received it. Noodle counter, we ordered both the dry and soup Noodle. By the time I got the wet noodle it was getting cold. The broth was good, a bit too much celery for my liking. Noodles are good but pretty thick. More like pasta style. There's a selection of protein and veggies that also be added. Also had the dumplings, theirs were great with the sauce paired mixed together. Between the soup and dry noodles version, dry was good on this visit. The fried chicken was pretty big in sizes. The only thing that was, batter was just whatever. Had rice remove majority of it. Came with a cucumbers salad and a biscuit. The Mac and cheese were great. Also go a side of the fries which was nice. Then the burger vendors, it was good. Also the fries were great as well. Entering the former news bureau, you're immediately met with twinkling lights and lively merriment, an animated scene all around-- the food hall definitely breathes new life into this block. Love this spot!!! This reminds me of a mini version of grand central market (located DTLA). I've lived near by for so long and I had no idea about this place. They have sushi, noodles, chicken sandwiches, pizza, burgers and a few other spots that look delicious. We went and had the pizza there which was SUPER GOOD! I can't wait to go back and try some of the other restaurants. There is also a bar upstairs that has comedy shows and other events but we didn't stay for that. Such a cute food hall in Culver City! They have a lot of really delicious restaurants to try out here. I specifically came here to try out Go Go Bird, which is a fried chicken shop, but they also have other options like noodles, oysters, ramen, and more! They even have a bar upon entry. There are public parking lots nearby for you to park at, but be prepared to pay a fee. While this is a smaller food hall than The Packing House in Anaheim, I still think that Citizen Public Market is a cute way to spend your Sunday with family and friends overall. read more

Good and bad things - the vibe in here is super cute and charming. There's a couple people working my the cafe spot when you first walk in and I appreciate that there's a rooftop with a decent amount of seating. They have about 8 food places to choose from, give or take, and on the second floor there's a bar which is another door vibe. It wasn't open when I went at 11am but the decor looked nice and it's cute and quaint. For the bad - unfortunately the food isn't as good as it all looks. Even when you get the food in person it's looks better than how it taste. It's far from disgusting but it just looks better than it taste. Once again not everything was open at 11 when I went but my friends and I did try the things that were open. Cafe (coffee, açaí and poke) - owner/manager was BEYOND nice and helpful. Sadly didn't try the coffee but it did look really good and tbh I think that one might be a hit. The açaí bowl was very loaded with toppings which Is great for some but my friend that tried it said it was just too many things and the peanut butter drizzle they put on top was over powering, so I'd just be cautious of that. The poke bowl was mid. The small is pretty small and the large/regular is medium size. Pizza joint - 7.5/10. Nothing bad, nothing outstanding. Bang bang noodles - I was soooo excited to try this and it looks so so good. I would give it a 8/10. I tried the dry beef garlic noodle (I think?) it was one out of two most popular. There's some real gems here. Current faves are Benevento (maybe the best pizza in LA and they have happy hour) and Bang Bang Noodles. Parking is street (metered) or across the street (there's two garages, the one attached to Trader Joe's in first hour free). Came here on a date one night. Food halls are always a good option to meet with a small group because of the different options there are...you know for the picky eaters. This is a small food hall compared to other ones I've been to. This one has about 6 different options. There are options like sushi/sashimi, chicken sandos, etc. We went with the hand pulled noodles and the oyster option right across from that. It took about 15 mins for the food to be ready but this gave us time to walk around and find some seats. There's a nice rooftop area you can sit to catch some of the bright colors around sunset. There's a small bar to grab some drinks as well to wash down the food. There's no parking for this place and no validation so that's a bummer. read more

Came here for a lowkey birthday celebration last month. What I like about it the most is that there are several restaurants to choose from, anything from sushi, soul food, burgers etc. and then you can head upstairs to Bar Bohemian. It worked out great for a group event, like my birthday, instead of doing a formal sit-down dinner at a restaurant. My friends all ate at different places in this trendy "food court" place. I went to "Uoichiba Handroll" and the sushi was really fresh and tasty. Next time, I want to try the "Bang Bang Noodles" place. Afterwards, we headed upstairs to Bar Bohemian and had delicious drinks and were even able to bring our own birthday cake (had to find our own cutlery and plates, which one of the restaurants downstairs gave us). read more

There's a bar on the second floor. There's elevator access to the rooftop. I would recommend taking the elevator up if you're just looking to eat on the rooftop to avoid getting carded at the bar level while you're carrying all your food up. There was plenty of staff to clear and clean off tables on a Friday night during dinner. There's a water cooler available by the restrooms on the first floor (next to the burger place). We just discovered this place for the first time last night. Great location with approx six eateries (as of this review on 3/23/25), as well as one bar upstairs. The variety is great , and covered various options: Fried chicken, Brooklyn style pizza, Asian noodles (Chinese if I'm not mistaken), Sushi. Mind you, this review is NOT for the food we chose (Bang Bang Noodles). Here is the reason for the 3 stars: 1. Parking is not easy. Expect to have to walk a bit from the subterranean parking, unless it's your lucky day and your get a spot on the street. 2. This is a crowded spot, not ideal for those who don't like being around alot of people, esp if it's a weekend night. 3. Seating is not at all comfortable. Most seating is on stools, although there are a few comfy seats. We ended up seating on stools that were not just uncomfortable, but also wobbly. My partner and I had a great time exploring all of the options at Citizen Public Market without having to go down a whole street. We took the opportunity to try a few restaurants that satisfy our different cravings in such an incredible clean and looking venue! We had the lamb burger and garlic Parmesan fries from the WeHo Sausage Co. my partner hasn't had lamb in a while and he said it was cooked exceptionally! The fries were paired well with 3 different sauces. With a beer and tax, it came out to almost $45 which definitely makes my wallet hurt. I ordered a medium bento from Uoichiba and wow the fish was so fresh and paired with sweet, sushi rice. They give you nori so you can make the wraps yourself. It came out to almost $30 which wasn't pleasant but I thoroughly enjoyed the taste though people would be hungry 2 hours later depending on your stomach. We got Bang Bang noodles to go. I usually love their food as I had it in the past but the dry cumin noodles were quite overwhelming this time around and I wish I had gotten another option instead. We finished it off with an iced vanilla latte from goodboybob. It was a $6 coffee with a $1 tip. The coffee wasn't anything unique - you're mostly being sold by awesome service and a great looking venue. Overall, we'd come here again. This is a place I'd recommend if you are visiting Culver City, because it has multiple restaurants in one. Also, the parking is pretty ideal near Culver Studios. There is a wide variety of food you can enjoy, such as dumplings and handrolls. They even have great hamburgers and beers. They have a great variety of restaurants and places to grab drinks here. Located over two levels, there is something for everyone. I love spaces like this where you can try different foods from different vendors and restaurants all under one roof. Plenty of seating and easy parking in the area. Worth checking out! read more

Citizen public market (CPM) There's a paid parking structure across the street. Street parking is available, but it can be a challenge finding a spot since the CPM is located next to a bunch of residential apartments. CPM has a restroom inside located at the back! CPM has a water station and cups for free. CPM is a food court with a variety of restaurants. I think there's about 6ish restaurants to choose from. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. First floor is full of restaurants... and the second floor is a bar. Good place to go to if you want to try something different and share!! read more
