This restaurant has reasonably good food but The reception people are often unpleasant and demanding .You must have a reservation to be allowed in as a diner on certain nights. We go to citron every Sunday for the brunch. Their omelettes are wonderful along with the service and atmosphere.

Once again we had a fabulous meal under the stars! Our waiter Luke did an amazing job at checking in and making sure we were happy with the suggestions that he had made. We have been fortunate enough to have Luke the last few visits and he always has a big smile along with a great attitude! He recommended the salmon and my daughter loved it. To be honest, my seafood special was delicious but the salmon won out! Make sure you try the mac and cheese side dish. All in all one of our favorite places to go. Cute restaurant on A1A behind the village shops. We went for lunch and liked it enough to bring friends on the weekend. The BLT was excellent, very tasty bacon. Also had the open faced chicken caprese on Rosemary focaccia and that was very good. My husband ordered it both visits. They make their own potato chips but I found them way too greasy. Second visit opted for a salad instead. Friend had the French toast which was also very good. all staff were wearing masks due to Covid and seating was distanced so we felt very comfortable here. Best to make reservations especially on the weekends. Very popular place. Staff do not rush you at all but this can make for a long wait for a table as I noticed customers like to have long chatty lunches. Would return. Outdoor seating is a big plus! read more

Citron is a very nice comfortable bistro / restaurant. We had a reservation for our anniversary, as many friends had mentioned this for lunch and dinner. This was our first time, coming here. My wife had the "Catch of the Day," which was swordfish; she said it was excellent. And paired with the Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc, the fish was superb. I chose the braised Short Ribs which were, by far, the best short ribs I've ever had at any restaurant. As delicious as the food was, the service was abysmal; we saw only two waiters working six outside tables, which then morphed into three. We asked for some more delicious sourdough bread during our salads; no bread arrived. We asked a second time, when our entrees arrived; no bread. We asked a third time for bread and a refill of water. No bread ever arrived, after asking three (3) times! Our waiter, Allen, seemed to try hard and just didn't cut it. I don't know why Citron couldn't hire enough wait staff! The delightful food just suffered because of the poor service. There are a myriad of wonderful restaurants in Vero Beach, and the majority of them have much more efficient service: The Tides; The Ocean Grill; Bobby's; The Amalfi Grille; and Cobalt, are a few suggestions. This was my second time dining here. I was greeted by a rather gloomy faced man who said we are not serving hot food now only salads. I said ok a salad is fine. It was a little bit after 3. I ordered the lobster salad and two bites in notice a piece of plastic like Saran Wrap. I called the waitress over who was very nice and showed her the plastic in my salad. She sent over a manager and I showed him and he said I will have another salad made for you. The second salad was fine with no plastic in the lettuce. I would have thought that something like this would be appalling to the management and at least could have done some kind of a compensation when you spend over 30 dollars on a salad . Maybe comp a dessert or glass of wine ? Something? I wouldn't recommend dining there in between lunch and dinner because the staff isn't very welcoming and can't be bothered. forget it. the only good thing is the atmosphere. Food is mediocre and over priced. The menu prices are high, but watch yourself. While much of the main courses are in the $30 range on the menu, the waitress will say "let me tell you about a few specials this evening" , but will not mention they are $45. We had a fish crusted with crab which was dry and tasteless. Their calamari were under cooked. I got a three course meal for $23. My waiter Jonathan was amazing and accommodating to our every need. He made sure we even had bug spray when the kids insisted on sitting outside. They had a nice fan to help with this also. Their food was exceptional. For the the first course I had a meatball soup with kale and white beans which was delicious. The second course was short braised ribs with risotto which was yummy. To top it all off they had a great key lime pie. It was very close to the Disney Resort and a beautiful location. This cozy and super clean bistro is a winner in all ways! Simple food but done so well and with attention to detail--they care about their food & customers. Had the mahi sandwich and it was hot off the grill and juicy (so many serve this dried out with no flavor:() on the buttered/toasted brioche bun with arugula on top--yum! A side of home-made still warm kettle chips and I was in heaven. My husband had the equally delish BLT on rosemary foccacia bread and ample amounts of bacon and seasonings. Located in a funky strip mall on A-1a. In / out dining. My experience has been hit or miss. At some times delightful other times mundane relative to the expense. This goes for the service and meals. We have seen one reference to a summer special being offered within a recent dining review; but are unable to find any mention of this in any of Citron's advertisements in "32963", and we were certainly not offered the option of a summer dining menu at Citron when there last week. I've been to this restaurant several times and was always happy with the food. Today, my dad and I ordered Mahi Mahi sandwiches that were almost raw. We sent them back and the same piece of cut up fish came back and it was still undercooked. We were asked if we wanted them prepared extra well done?!! We told them "No, we just want them cooked all the way through!" They brought back two thin pieces of fish that were cooked through but it took about 25 minutes before we got them. By the time we got our 3rd delivery of fish, my mom was finished with her meal. We had several people bringing and taking away the fish and not ONE person apologized. I ordered my salad with no dressing and it came soaked in dressing. When I asked for a salad without dressing the woman seemed annoyed. When we got our bill the server never came back to pick up our credit card. I had to walk inside the restaurant to ask them to cash out my bill. Not one person apologized, and they offered no compensation (even a cup of coffee) for the ridiculous mistakes they kept making that made us wait for over an hour to get our 3rd piece of fish! I will NEVER go back to this restaurant after going there multiple times in the past! read more

This is a cute little bistro hidden in a courtyard of a rather expensive group of shoppes on Hwy A1A in Vero Beach. Parking in front is limited, but there's more behind it. We were looking for lunch and this nice little place fit the bill. Despite being early September when it's usually too hot still to sit outside, there was plenty of shade and a nice breeze. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We were alone out side as the other customers elected to be seated in the a/c. We worried we'd be ignored, but not the case at all. I had a curry chicken salad with almonds that was delicious (ask for the dressing on the side if you're unsure about curry, but mine was not at all overwhelming as some tend to be). This is a lovely bistro. Service is good. Went for lunch and tables were well spaced, with servers all in masks. The chairs felt unstable & we are not large. Not small either, just average, but chair arms are very loose! Food was good. Just that, good. I had crab cake salad & would not ever crave this salad. I've had much better crab cakes. I think the dressing was good but I couldn't really tell you cuz there wasn't enough of it. But my biggest issue...the salad bowls. I enjoy being able to view my salad in this bowl but it was awkward to have to hold my knife because I had no where to put it down. No bread, no bread plate. So you either put it on the placemat or hold it in your hand. It was just not comfortable. I know not everyone cuts their salad so into smaller bites but for those who do, ask for a side plate. As my and my partner approached the hostess to announce we were there with an 11:30 reservation, a rude ancient female was behind us getting hot over us walking and being seated. She obviously did not make a reservation. Next, we are seated outside at the only table with direct sunlight. We were baking alive!!!! We were so hungry we ended up staying and kept changing seats to get even sun exposure. After waiting for over 10 minutes we finally get a hostess who brings bread without any water and leaves for another chunk of time. Had such a rude hostess, decided not to eat there and would never go back. After waiting for awhile to be seated, hostess finally comes in. We ask to be seated outside. She said there are no tables left with umbrellas (it was a rainy day). Stumbled on this lovely little hidden gem while running an errand at BofA. Been going to this bank for a year and a half and did not know this bistro was there. Nestled in the center of the plaza courtyard, the outdoor seating is very pleasant and upscale. The 85 degree day was breezy and there were numerous patrons eating, coming and going. Service was casual but attentive. Did have to ask for water refills a few times, but the feta and watermelon salad was refreshing with a light vinaigrette touched with mint. The beet salad was also generous and tasty. Hummus was not available so I added a side of crispy, warm, addicting potato chips. Hubby had a burger and enjoyed the well cooked portion.
