Stumbled on this lovely little hidden gem while running an errand at BofA. Been going to this bank for a year and a half and did not know this bistro was there. Nestled in the center of the plaza courtyard, the outdoor seating is very pleasant and upscale. The 85 degree day was breezy and there were numerous patrons eating, coming and going. Service was casual but attentive. Did have to ask for water refills a few times, but the feta and watermelon salad was refreshing with a light vinaigrette touched with mint. The beet salad was also generous and tasty. Hummus was not available so I added a side of crispy, warm, addicting potato chips. Hubby had a burger and enjoyed the well cooked portion. Not a chip was left on the plate! Looking forward to our next meal at Citron. May decided to try dinner next. read more

We literally can't find a single thing that isn't outstanding about this place!!!! The food is, in my mother's words, 'exquisite'.... and that's consistent across a number of visits. The ambiance is lovely, the staff is delightful and the coffee is amazing! If you're in the area don't miss the opportunity for a delicious meal. Three in our party for lunch, we tried the grilled mahi sandwich, the crab stuffed avocado, and the caesar salad with grilled mahi, and truffle fries. The mahi on the caesar was a good size and perfectly cooked, but both the mahi sandwich and the stuffed avocado were very small. We weren't expecting huge platter, but were expecting luncheon size portions, esp given the price. The amt of crab in the avocado was tiny, it barely covered the hole made by removing the pit. The piece of mahi in the sandwich was too small to eat as a sandwich, the bun would have overwhelmed the fish. The truffle fries were fresh, incredibly crispy outside, and hot, but no discernible truffle flavor. They were so good that didn't even matter. The food was very good, the fish was fresh and well cooked, the crab in the avocado was nicely seasoned. But the avocado and the mahi were tapas sized. Too bad, we would definitely return if the serving size were a little more generous. read more

Very undistinguished. Sort of tony location in the Village Shops in Indian River Shores. Pleasant atmosphere with inviting outdoor patio dining. But the food is merely so-so at best, bland and expensive and not particularly good. read more

This little jewel nestled among the quaint Village shops is a must. I have enjoyed going here for lunch and dinner since we purchased a home in the area. It is a great place to take a guest for lunch or your loving husband for a quiet dinner. One of my favorite dishes for lunch or dinner is the Kale salad and the Mushroom Risotto. The Kale salad has just the right amount of tartness with a hint of sweetness from the dried cherries and roasted butternut squash. Wonderful combination together, you can't go wrong. I suggest ordering the small salad as the portions are large for one. The soups and quiche are made daily and have always been delicious. Just tried the Turkey Burger the other day and I loved the combination they used with a cranberry mayo, the bun was super fresh. Again, a great combination of flavors. The Beets and goat cheese salad is a must to try too. Excellent! For dinner, my favorite, and is always a must is their Mushroom Risotto. It is the best I have ever eaten. I thought the Inn at the Biltmore Estates in Asheville had the best Risotto but Citron's has one my vote. The fish has been a little bit too dry and over cooked for me. If you order fish I would suggest you ask your server to make sure it is cooked to a moist liking. The Sourdough Bread and butter is a meal in itself. Amazing! You can always do take out for lunch or dinner too. Great option if you are tired from a day at the beach.. Check to see if the No-See-Um bugs are out if you do make dinner reservations for outside. These pesky little bugs have a mighty bite that will ruin a great dinner. The restaurant does provide bug spray for you but I suggest making reservations to sit inside.. Oh almost forgot the Bread Pudding is wonderful...Enjoy! read more

Was told a table would be 10 minutes and to visit the shops. Returned as another couple was just checking in - they were led to the preferential table even though it wasn't cleared or set. If you go don't make the mistake of shopping like we did. Inept hostess. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner. Nothing was very good, except a very attentive waiter. The do not offer a full bar and that was disappointing, so I ordered a beer. Looking at the wine list, it is nothing but very, very overpriced average bottles of wine. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was not very good, it had a weird greed sauce around it like I've never seen before. Shrimp was under cooked and the whole dish was lukewarm. My wife had the lobster raviolli which was very good, real lobster, but the whole experience was not great. Will not go there again. read more

I could not give this Bistro a rave review. We, six old friends, went to the Bistro over the weekend. We enjoyed our glass of wine while we waited (over 50 minutes) for our meal to arrive. Our waitress, a very nice young lady, had forgotten to put my order in, so, I waited while my friends ate. In most restaurants, if an order is forgotten, an adjustment is made in the final bill or your dessert is free. No acknowledgement. Four of the six said that their food was barely warm. Two of us ordered dessert. I am a creme brulee freak so, I know when it is good or not. The texture was that of pudding that had been in the refrigerator much too long - thick and not the least creamy. It tasted old. We were not pleased and will not be back. read more

We have now been sitting at our table for 75 minutes without ANY FOOD. We are the ONLY table sitting outside ... so I can't tell you if the food is any good BUT it used to be fabulous . Service is TERRIBLE. read more

This is a place you really want to live but it's kind of amateur hour here. Great location with courtyard seating and friendly service but how do you run out of spoons on a Sunday morning when the place is mostly empty. Another gripe, I'm betting that 8 out of 10 people have syrup with French Toast so why would I have to wait 5 minutes to get syrup after my French Toast is served? I had to ask 3 times for a check and the table behind me had there check messed up when they tried to split their bill. The waiter charged both halves to the same check. Worst meal I have had here in Vero beach. My steak was cold. I had to ask for a fork and knife to eat with because the waitress was missing in action. My wife ordered flounder stuffed with crabmeat. The flounder was mush and the crabmeat was nonexistent. My wife told the waitress the meal was not good and there was little to no response from waitress to try and make it better The cost was over 150.00 dollars and we only had two glasses of wine and two beers. I love this place! Frankly I'm a bit nervous about leaving a positive review for Citron because this restaurant is a delightful hidden treasure here in Vero, mostly known just to locals. The lobster roll is to die for with its large hunks of perfectly cooked lobster on a fresh roll. The kettle chips are outstanding but the truffle fries are simply the best. The outdoor seating in the courtyard under the shade of the trees is just perfect for a quiet lunch and conversation. This is my new favorite casual lunch spot with world-class food. read more

Such a great little spot! I found their menu on an IG post when looking at hashtag Vero beach and we made a plan to head over. Really glad we went! My friend had the kale salad (from their paleo menu) and I had the chicken with apple, blue cheese curry dressing. Both were outstanding - seriously the best salads ever. They are located within a group of shops which are in the process of getting built - don't let the construction scare you away!! It's not that bad (we sat outside) and the food is worth any amount of noise. Who knew salads would be worthy of a 5 star review!! read more

Was here for lunch and got food poisoning from the chicken salad. I was sick within 11/2 hr after having eaten with terrible stomach pains and diarrhea which lasted three days. I recovered after taking medicine for the conditions. Obviously will never go back. The service and the wine was lacking as well. read more

Dined at Citron on a Monday afternoon. Diane was wonderful-- prompt, friendly, professional. The Shrimp Bruchetta was divine. Followed by the best Vegetarian Sandwich in Vero that I have had to date! My boyfriend ordered the Curry Chicken Salad and was equally as pleased after ordering more dressing. We will be back! Over the past few months have frequented this establishment fairly often...food is good. Certainly not inexpensive, so one hopes for a nice dining experience. But the service has been extremely slow and inattentive .. and last night was the drop that spilled over the bucket. Our party consistented of eight, after nearly two hours we still did not have our dinner served. While all that time completely felt ignored, initially we were asked about a drink order and that was it for the evening! Only after asking about where our dinner was (twice) the waitress came out with a bottle of white wine only to serve one guest who drank white wine, the rest of the party, "Oh well" What was very irritating was that two different parties came in after us and left before our dinner came out. Will have to find a different restaurant read more

what a lovely setting. Lunching with my sister after a walk at Pelican Island. We each had a salad and were very pleased.

My parents and I came visited Citron early last week, at 5:30 p.m. We did not have a reservation, which I probably should have made since it is Vero's peak season right now. However, upon seeing the dining area, I didn't believe I needed one, because not a single diner occupied the restaurant. Upon waking inside to be seated, we were told by four different people at once that "we couldn't possibly be seated without a reservation." I looked around again... not a soul was having dinner. I was immediately put off. I was a server AND a hostess, I know the drill. But at a restaurant with at least 25 tables, you're telling me they couldn't flip our table before their reservations showed up? Obviously there weren't any 5:30 reservations, which meant we would have been halfway through our meals before any reservations came. I've heard great things about Citron, but I was so aggravated by this situation I'm afraid I'll never be returning. read more

Excellent!! I come to Vero Beach for business monthly and this is my first time at Citron. I had the basil salmon salad. Absolutely delicious. Salmon was fresh, lemon poppy seed dressing not sweet or tart...just perfect. Fresh strawberries, clementines and almonds all delightful. This is my new favorite place. Citron Restaurant was a big disappointment to us, for dinner. We had a lunch months ago and that was ok. I find the menu rather limited for anyone trying to eat things with few calories. I ordered the Lump Crab Cakes , grilled. They came hard crusty fried, I may as well have ordered deep fried for taste and calories. Grilled food (on a skillet) should not have a thick crusty exterior. I did not like one of the veggies and asked for a substitute which was okayed but did not arrive with the order. I could not eat the Quinoa. It was flavored with coriander/cilantro. Some people love that spice and others hate it, there doesn't seem to be an inbetween. I fall in the latter category. I believe that it is such a strong spice that it should be listed on the menu so that people can stay away when it is listed. My meal was $26 and there wasn't anything on it I liked. My husband did not like his either, lobster ravioli was a disgrace at $32, very little lobster, pasta mostly. Salads were an extra charge, we had the house dressing which was highly touted. My husband was persuaded to order that, he loves blue cheese but went by the waiter's recommendation. That, too, was a mistake. It was fine but nothing special, I'm afraid my husband will never be swayed again to leave his blue cheese for a waiter suggestion. read more
