I used to go to Citrus all the time when I lived in Virginia Beach, so I was excited to visit again while I'm in town on vacation. The food is still good, but they've changed their menu. I missed seeing the pumpkin pancakes and their Eggs Benedict with tenderloin and lump crab meat. However, I did enjoy my sweet potato biscuit and the southwest avocado toast. I got it without chorizo and sausage, and it was still delicious! My boyfriend got the country fried steak and said it was great! The service was good, and there was no wait time when we showed up a little after 8am. Noise level was good at this time of morning too. I know that it can get pretty crazy around brunch time. Overall, it's still a great spot, but I do miss some of the old favorites. read more

I've always loved Citrus, and this visit was no different. This location is spacious, well lit, with lots of natural light, and very clean. The staff is friendly and the service was surprisingly quick. As always, the food was fantastic. The parmesan tomatoes on the Beckner are amazing. Their sausage links are the best I've ever had. I got an iced vanilla latte with breakfast and they used frozen coffee cubes to ice the drink without the coffee being watered down. One of my favorite breakfast places. read more

I am not sure what my favorite meal here is, but I can recall ordering the chicken breast... it tasted as if the chicken was raised on an island and was fed only the best! The chicken was simple but super good! I tried the sweet potato biscuit sandwich. I hope I have a picture on here. Now that combination was a bit ify. Although the sandwich was good, because I tore it up, I would not order it again. It was definitely too busy for my liking. Now the wait, you will more than likely have to wait to dine here. Reservations are not accepted, well at least not on the weekend. I have dined with a party of 12 and we waited about 35 minutes. It wasn't bad, especially knowing the food was going to be amazing. I normally sit at the bar unless I am with a large party. This location is always full especially of your looking to go with a group. Staff are nice and accommodating. They cooked them in the most perfect way . Creamy and buttery. Oh my god I couldn't get enough. The French toast I had was phenomenal. Fluffy and delicate. Eggs were great. Mimosa was good but OH MY GOD the espresso martini was actually one of the best I've ever had. The coffee was fantastic. It wasn't too milky or gross. Wow it was good. I haven't been here in years (to either location) Glad to see they survived 2019. I chose the 357 location because I remember it giving me "beachier" vibes. I arrived at about 12:30 and expected the beautiful waiting area to be full but to my surprise it was completely open. There were still lots of seating available (inside and out) As before (since 2014) I was cheerfully greeted at the door. I sat the bar with a happy bright and happy waitresses. Immediately I remembered they had underbar hooks for your bag (I'm not sure why this isn't universal) I realized they'd updated the menu (about 8 months ago I was told) so I tried something new: -The orange lemonade (delicious) -Croissant French toast - added blueberries, pecans and sweet cream cheese (which the waitress routed on lol) it was awesome. 5 delicious stars I also got the Cape Henry Breakfast - 2 eggs over medium, 2 strips bacon, hash browns & biscuit (no way I could eat it all, but I love a good leftover bag) tasted average which is fine. Anyways I had a great time. Citrus is a well known brunch spot in Va Beach, it's always clean with great lighting inside from the huge windows, great outdoor seating. Always a vibe. The food is always fun and fresh. If you want a little bit more seasoning, the other location might still be the difference. Hopefully it won't be another near decade when a come back. read more

I came straight from working 12 hours and met with my friends. We have to wait for the group to arrive before we can be sitted, but their waiting area are comfortable and airy. The place is nice, airy and light with the diffuse lighting through their colored glass decor which I like so much. The hostess was nice and tried to accommodate all of us. Once we sat immediately a waiter came and offered us drinks. Then she came back for our orders. The food delivery was fast and the food was perfectly and beautifully presented. We have a little girl and she loved her order. I asked for the seafood omelette and banana pancake with sweet pecan drizzle. Now, this seafood omelette is so Devine. It is so creamy and fluffy and very tasty. Everything is so delicious I didn't even know I finished the whole thing. I rate it 10/10. This is by far the best seafood omelette I've tried. The banana pancake was fluffy and large and very good but that pecan drizzle is just genius. I also ordered the cinnamon pancake which is the best I've ever tasted. I love it all. My friends also enjoyed all their orders. In short, We are all more than satisfied with all our food, I can't wait to bring my family here. We enjoyed and stayed longer but they never rush us. Oh , and they give military discount on! The only thing is they were only open 7am -3pm and close on Tuesdays. They don't lack for customers though. I came here with my family after a long vacation, looking forward to a good meal. Instead, it turned into a complete disaster. First, we checked in and were told there would be a short wait. After sitting there for nearly 40 minutes, a staff member casually tells us the "computer deleted our spot in line", which was clearly a lie, since they had simply forgotten to put us in. No apology, no urgency, just excuses. When we were finally seated (already frustrated and hungry), we placed our order. After another 40 minutes, our server comes to the table and says, "I forgot to place your order." No words. My entire family, including parents, were starving while we sat there wasting more of our time because of this place's complete incompetence. And what did management do to make it right? Offered me a measly $10 gift card as if that somehow makes up for their total lack of professionalism and basic customer service. This restaurant clearly does not care about its customers or their experience. Avoid this place at all costs. There are far better places where you'll actually be treated with respect, this one clearly isn't one of them. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! The servers were so kind and willing to make timely accommodations for my large party. We came around 1:30pm and the restaurant wasn't too crowded. Menu is large & saw 6 things I wanted to order so it was hard decision. We ordered the salad sampler, beach Benedict, and the shore drive. The sampler said it was on a bed of greens so I expected kind of a salad, but it was more of a garnish of greens. I asked if I could get a lil bit more greens but was told it would be extra like adding a side salad. Not the best reply to my complaint. The beach Benedict was good but had way too much hollandaise sauce so the dish was too wet. Should have ordered the sauce on the side. The shore was standard. Kid liked it. Overall good food. Featured on Best of Diners, Dive's, and Drive-In's on the food network this spectacular breakfast near the VA Beach Coast did not disappoint. After carefully studying the menu I went with the Shrimp and Crab Benedict. The flavor this meal gave off was something special, they had to add a special sauce that they must have concocted in my opinion because the flavor was on a new level, think unami inspired flavoring ( for those of you not familiar with umami it is one of the five basic tastes and is easily the most misunderstood flavor out there.) Fun Fact - it wasn't until 1990 that it was officially recognized as the fifth taste although it was "discovered" in 1908. I went on this trip to VA Beach with my dad and he ordered the Seafood Omelette. The omelette has everything you want in it if you are a seafood lover but by God man just go with the benedict or something more unique, I can't fault you if you are trying to start the day eating healthy though to each their own. Mimosa, Mimosa, and more Mimosa Menu. I took a pic of there offerings of Mimosa's and although my father and I started out with a coffee we quickly changed to Mimosa's when I saw the offerings they had. FYI - the regular coffee they have is not...well that good. I went with the Manmosa and it was great and not crazy priced at $6.00. Your looking at about a ten minute drive to get here if staying on the VA beach oceanfront but it is beyond worth it to experience this place and FYI if your looking to book a trip in VA beach I think its actually beneficial to stay closer to the north end or a more quiet spot then right on or by the oceanfront boardwalk. First place I have been that has been featured on best diners, dive's and drive-in's and if you are looking to check off some that are featured on the show why not start here! Not impressed. I saw Citrus on TikTok and the comments said it is a must go. Compared that to the reviews online and I thought I was getting a must have breakfast spot. It was a lot of people there as we had to wait 45 minutes. The food was alright, I've definitely had better elsewhere. Prices were a laugh given their juices are like $5.00 with no free refills or even one free refill but food prices are not that bad. I don't believe the fruit they used on the French toast that I got was fresh. The blueberries on my meal did not have an appealing taste to it and the strawberries were just there. My knife in my utensil set had food stains left on it. My friend found an eggshell in her potatoes. Overall, it's checked off my box that I've been here and I most likely will not return. The staff was very friendly and attentive! But the food was basic and could of been made better at home or another restaurant. read more

This place has quite a following, and quite a wait to go with it! The hubs & I stopped in on Saturday around 9:30 and the wait was already 30-45 minutes. We could have been seated immediately, but weren't keen on sitting outside, so we waited for an indoor table. They have signs on every door indicating their requirement for wearing masks and maintaining social distance. Unfortunately, when the temps are low and the wait is substantial, patrons just aren't going to do that. So while we tried to stay away from people inside, people didn't try to stay away from us (and also needed a few lessons on how to properly don a face mask), so we kept shifting our location during the wait. About 35 minutes after we arrived, we were ushered to a comfy booth. It was a few minutes before we were greeted and we placed our drink and food orders immediately. We very quickly received piping hot coffee and ice waters. While we waited, someone checked in with fresh coffee every now and then (yes, please!). Ticket times seemed to be about 15 minutes, but the food was so worth the wait! I tried the blueberry pancakes with glaze, scrambled eggs and perfectly cooked bacon! It was so nice not to have wimpy, soggy bacon sent to my table (I usually order mine extra crispy and still contend with it not being cooked enough). My partner in crime had the plain buttermilk pancakes, over hard eggs and sausage patties and he ate every bite. I had some leftovers and I was so glad to wake up to a 2nd meal on Sunday! I went with three of my friends for brunch on a Saturday- they were pretty busy, and told us there was a 50-minute wait. I think we waited for about 30 minutes. We waited in the car during this time. The service didn't seem like anything special, our server was "okay-" she wasn't the best, but also wasn't the worst. She was very busy also, and seemed to be able to keep her tables all happy. I didn't order the right thing- the croissant French toast was not very good, but they did do my bacon perfect & crispy. Their grits were so bland and watery- I won't order grits again from them. And the sweet potato biscuit would've been better if they were warm and soft- instead they were not warm & very dense, almost hard. Pretty decent breakfast spot with a wide array of options and good service! We came on a weekday and we did not have a wait. Had some cocktails, which were all decent, but nothing super impressive. For my entree, I got the seafood omelet which was decent. The cheese wasn't evenly distributed, so some bites had no cheese and other bites had an abundance. There was however, a generous serving of seafood and the hollandaise sauce was good. We also got a side of their homemade corned beef hash, which was super unique, not like any other I've had. (Writing this as I go for sake of authenticity.) Found this place from the 4.7 stars on Google and the menu looked delicious. First impression, VERY clean restaurant. Looks like they built it yesterday! After talking to my AWESOME waitress ( Darby ), I couldn't believe the building was renovated almost 10 years ago in 2014. Order a red eye (if you know, you know) and the double shot was perfectly extracted.. a damn good start. If you screw up the coffee the breakfast doesn't matter. Food time! Pancakes are delicious!! (And I'm so glad they gave me real butter instead of putting that margarine shit in a ball on top of the pancakes) Home fries (chunky hash browns) were really good. Seasoned with rosemary. Sausage patties were actually good, not greasy at all. Fiancé had French toast which was pretty average. Drinks brought (1 of 2 wrong & no shots but just drank the wrong drink). Shots arrived but were wrong. Drank them anyway. Food arrived. My wife's omelet and bacon undercooked. My breakfast burrito was pathetic, the home fries were plain instead of the Rosemary & Parmesan that I ordered and my bacon was undercooked. I've been hearing about Citrus for years! i finally gave it a shot, and I think it was just okay. I wasn't particularly impressed with their menu so I ended up ordering the Seafood Omelette. It included crab, shrimp, and bacon which I substituted for turkey bacon although it was an upcharge. The omelette was large, but it was kind of bland and had an underlying flavor that reminded me of potatoes or hash browns. I'm not the biggest fan of grits, but these were good, although they were a bit on watery side. Our server, Al, wasn't particularly attentive. We were not checked on much throughout our visit and we never received an order of hash browns. Overall, it didn't live up to the hype for me and I'm not sure that I'll return. read more

I finally got to visit Citrus! I am still on cloud nine from my experience here. The anticipation has been brewing for some time, but I was finally able to go without fighting a crowd. Which was the perfect time to experience it. I always hear horror stories about the wait time and the crowds that form outside. Visiting on a Wednesday morning at 0830 certainly helps, because there is no crowd. I walked in and had no time at all getting a table. The hostess was attentive, polite and seated me quickly. The hostess also got my drink order and came over in between the server visiting the table. The menu wasn't overwhelming, but so many interesting things caught my eye. I finally settled on 2 different things. I ordered the grilled shrimp, lump crab bene, and the mango almond French toast with citrus glaze. I couldn't come here and pass up the opportunity to try the citrus glaze. I also ordered the toffee coffee cocktail. Grilled shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat, two poached farm eggs, sautéed spinach & tomatoes on an English muffin topped with Hollandaise sauce: Winner winner, by far the best bene I've ever had. They even let me have it with a fried egg as opposed the poached. I love a good bene, but do not like runny yolk. So, it was perfect that they were so accommodating. Mango Almond Croissant French Toast w/ citrus glaze: Syrup is NOT necessary with this meal. It is perfectly sweetened, but not overly sweet. I requested the citrus sauce on the side so that I could utilize it as I saw fit. Toffee Coffee Cocktail, Bailey's Irish Cream, Butterscotch Schnapps, Hot Cocoa, Coffee topped with Whipped Cream and Caramel. Heaven in a mug! This is a must have. It is so smooth and doesn't seem like alcohol is in it at all. This was a complete 5-star experience, I cannot wait to visit again. The service, atmosphere, and food were all ahhmazing. read more

Can't believe I haven't done a review for this place yet I've only been here a hundred times lol. Citrus is probably one of my favorite brunch spots in VB. They have two locations & I always get the addresses confused but I prefer the one close to great neck and VB blvd. It's the more updated one & then there is one closer to Shore Drive. This is a great spot for a brunch date, friends date and families too. It's always busy when I come on the weekends. So be prepared to wait! Food and service is definitely worth it though. I've tried almost everything from the omelets to the Benedicts. The food has always been hot and fresh when I visit. They also have a great mimosa menu! I love their classic & the Heat Wave Mimosa. The staff here always friendly & attentive. I've never had a bad experience here! Keep up the good work Citrus! read more
