So happy to have utilized this local, family owned company to repair our refrigerator! We were away for a week on vacation, and wouldn't you know it, came home to a refrigerator blowing hot air. 1 a.m. and we're emptying rotting food out. Thankfully, the garbage was scheduled for collection that morning. I left a message (after not getting any sort of response from the larger companies, except 1 that could have someone out in 2 weeks!) for Richard and he personally phoned back the next morning! That same afternoon Sean came and had my fridge running perfectly in less than 2 hours! Also, it cost waaaay less than we had figured it would, double bonus. I will never use another appliance service again, EVER. They are a cash and check business, but the service and pricing was so good, I'm more than happy to forgive them! read more

I called Richard's appliance for a problem with the thermostat on my JennAire oven. The appointment was set up courteously and professionally, and well within the promised appointment window I got a call from the technician letting me know he was on his way from Healdsburgh. The technician, (Sean) diagnosed the problem immediately and told me there might be a secondary issue, (the front control panel may not be interpreting the thermostat signal correctly and might need to be replaced) but we would start with a new thermostat and see if that fixed the problem before delving further into the issue. He had exactly the right thermostat in his truck, and within 15 minutes I had a properly repaired and perfectly working appliance. And a very reasonable invoice to boot. This is a small family operation and the vibes are great. I believe Sean will shoot straight with anybody just like he did with me, and give awesome service. Five stars, very satisfied. read more

Sean came out for an appt. to fix my Thermador range with a broken griddle thermostat. He promised to get back to me with a part and estimate for the repair. He didn't. I called him and he explained that working on a Thermador wasn't worth his time. I was initially out $80 and a week of time. Since then he has refunded the $80 without request which is quite honorable. I would encourage you a) not to buy a Thermador and b) not to call Sean if it's broken. read more

My electric oven was operating erratically. I called Richard's and the diagnosis was that the control was no longer functioning. That service call cost $80. Later I experimented and found the oven to work, after I turned it on repeatedly. It seems the control is operational. While I don't object to $80 service calls I do object to miss-diagnoses. I've been using Richard's Appliance Service for at least twelve years now. Richard himself has always been the guy to show up. He's friendly, professional, and I completely trust his recommendations and work. After having a 14 year old fridge go south, he told me he could replace the motor but said it's in my best interest to get a new fridge. If your looking to replace something, he'll tell you based on his experience, which brands to stay away from. He's a good guy. read more

We had a pleasant experience both in person and over the phone. Although the initial diagnosis fixed the problem with our refrigerator for a few days, it was back to not retaining a cold enough temperature. We called them back and did not charge us again for diagnosing the problem further but did charge us for parts/labor to replace the thermostat. It has been working perfectly ever since. We also loved the same day service since other places we called couldn't come out for over a week. We could not wait that long with food spoiling. We will definitely be calling them again for future repairs on our appliances. read more

Positive experience. Not only was Richards Appliance one of the only companies to return my call, they did so promptly and sent out the technician quickly. Sean, the technician was quick, precise, and really friendly. I'd give them 5 stars but they were pricey - $160 for 20 minutes to fix our dryer. All in all, I'm happy. read more

This is an update to my prior negative review. On a trusted friend's recommendation, I have since hired Richard's Appliance to repair two appliances in my home. The repair person was on time, their diagnosis was valid, and repairs completed efficiently. I was also given unsolicited but helpful advice about maintenance I could do on one item. They're not cheap, and the diagnosis fee things still rankles, but I'm now satisfied with Richard's and will use them again. Glad I gave them another chance. read more

I was referred to Richards Appliance Repair by a neighbor of mine. My 3 year old washing machine stopped working and I called Sears to diagnose the problem, since I bought the machine from Sears. Its a Kenmore with lots of sensors. They never showed up or even called me. I called Richards and Sean came to my house the next day, ordered the part and had it working in 2 days. I had a very pleasant conversation with the lady on the phone who set a 2 hour window for the appointment with same day service no less. Sean arrived right on time at the beginning of the appointment time set. He was knowledgeable and cleared the problem in the dishwasher explaining how to get the best performance and machine gotcha's to watch out for - like water too cool. I don't like being funneled through setting an appointment and then paying a diagnosis fee to the repairman when I know the problem but I understand why they need to do it. The lady answering the phone can't quote rates and isn't technical and the repairman doesn't want to spend time and money for someone shopping a repair. Not sure how to get around that one. I did get great service for a fair price and right on time. Hard to ask for more. read more

The Fridge compartment on my 10 year old Maytag French door fridge wasn't cold this morning so I called Richard's and was set up with a window from 2-4pm. Richard called when he was a few minutes away and arrived at 2:45. He diagnosed the problem, set to work and had the job completed within an hour. Our refrigerator broke over the weekend and I called several appliance repair places on Monday. Most of them didn't even return my call. But Richard's not only has someone answering calls (yay!), but they were also able to send someone out to take a look the next day. Sean, who did the work, was super nice & polite, called when he was on his way to give me an ETA, and explained everything clearly. He checked the condenser for leaks, because he said there was no point in fixing the fridge if that was the problem - which luckily it wasn't - so I appreciated his honesty. He had to order the part, but they called as soon as it came in to schedule an appt to install it. Fridge is now fixed and working better than ever! My whirlpool dryer wasn't heating a few months back so I gave them a call. We set up a window and Sean came out and discovered it was my connection that needed replacing (house had original wiring.) Not only did he fix the problem but he is a wealth of information, and completely personable to work with. I was so pleased I called again when my washer stopped spinning on Easter. Again, we set up a window and Sean returned on time and worked magic so I could again wash clothes. He is a genius. The problem was quickly diagnosed and he did everything he could to save my washer. I am extremely great full for his knowledge, promptness, neatness, pricing and his attitude & personality. Not only does he do it correctly the first time but every time we have used him for various homes. If I could give them 10 stars I would. If there is a brand of appliance he does not work on he will tell you up front with advise on who to call. If all repair firms were this good it would save every one time & money. read more

I have worked with several appliance repair companies in Sonoma co and Richards hands down has my business. I called on a Friday morning regarding our refrigerator not working and hoping to have someone come out in the next few days, which is what I have experienced with other companies, And they had someone out the same day. The service tech was courteous and professional,diagnosed the problem and explained that they carry many of the common parts they repair in their trucks and had the job done in less than an hour. I've had to call these guys twice in the last two months. Problem #1 the dryer, problem #2 the over-range microwave. They were able to come quickly (Tevax estimated 14 days before they could come out), Their fee for visit was lower than the others I called and the technician was friendly and able to fix the dryer. The microwave was another story, but I felt like I got honest advice. Buy a new one, don't fix the old one. read more

Fantastic! Dryer heating element broke & I was referred to Richard's by an electrician I really trust. Richard himself took my call and, given an opening in his afternoon, was out that afternoon! Called to say they were on the way. He had given me some idea what I might expect the problem to be and what he could do depending on what they found. They travel with quite a number of common parts for repair already in their van, so he was able to replace the part immediately. Kind, courteous, professional, efficient. Very reasonably priced. They guarantee their work. Then, after asking, shared with me which of the other appliances in my home they could service should anything happen. I have a broken washer, and have diagnosed what the problem is from talking to people who have the same model and had the same issue. I was wondering if you could give me just some sort of estimate , assuming my diagnoses is correct. I am trying to decide if I should buy a new washer or just fix it as it was working fine. My kids do the dishes in my house, which is both a blessing and a curse. Shockingly my dishwasher no longer drained properly. I called Richard's Appliance Service after reading all the great reviews on Yelp. The woman that took my call (yes, the call was answered right away) was super friendly and accommodating to my scheduling needs. Richard came out the next morning and could NOT have been more professional, kind, and knowledgeable. He fixed my problem within 1 hour and gave me some tips on how to make sure the hoses and filters stay as clean as possible. And, we've already talked about him coming back out to look at my refrigerator! I'll be a customer for life. read more

Richard's Appliance in Santa Rosa, Ca. is terrible. They owe me parts, and don't call me back. They say they will do things, and then they don't do them. They over-charge, and then say they don't. They give one price on the phone, and another price when they see you in person. I'm reporting them to each & every agency, including my local neighborhood committee. read more

I had my tenant call to arrange for repair of her refrigerator. She was told they would not come out unless they were paid in advance... Don't know what their fee is for a repair estimate, but can't be worth telling a new customer you don't trust them to pay their service call charge. Won't be call them back. read more
