Half rack

A friend and I drove 30 minutes to eat here; we would not do it again. Not because it is awful; it's not. It is just quite mediocre. My friend had the 3 meat platter (with creamy coleslaw and cornbread) and I had a half rack with fried okra & cornbread. We agree that the cornbread was tasty; he said the creamy coleslaw and the sausage were the best things on the tray. I liked the fried okra. Everything was quite likable ... but nothing was remarkable. Nothing so incredibly unique or delicious that we would drive 30 minutes again for it.

Lunch today at City BBQ in Garner, North Carolina. I'm just going to say that I enjoyed my lunch although it wasn't the best BBQ I've ever had, it wasn't the worst either. My husband absolutely did not like his lunch and will not be going back. The restaurant was clean, friendly service and the portions were great. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Easy parking.

I'm leaving 5 stars not only for the delicious barbecue but also for the amazing customer service from the team on shift at 5pm Sunday (9/21). I had placed a very large order two hours prior, but they ran out of ribs :(. The staff immediately stepped up--offering me either a refund or comparable substitutes, which I went with because I needed to feed an army. Truly appreciated it! I picked up the order and set up a whole spread, and it turned out to be a fan favorite! Everything was flavorful, generous, and served with care. The way the team handled the situation made all the difference, and I'll definitely be ordering again.

The service here was nice. The cashier was friendly and attentive while we ordered and so was the person who gave us our food. The place isn't too loud which allows you to have a nice conversation with the person across from you without having to yell. As for the food, it could he better. We ordered the beef brisket and felt it was missing something. It wasn't the worst sandwich but it did seem a little bit dry. We did love the mac and cheese though, and could definitely return for it. The place could also use some cleaning up, as the floors were dirt and some tables were sticky. I do think the place has potential and could definitely shine with a little work.

Beef Brisket Sandwich with 3-Cheese Baked Mac

The restaurant is very nice on the inside, set up like other bbq restaurants where you order and then pick up at the counter before sitting in the dining room. The service is good, no issues with the ordering or pickup process. The food was ok. The brisket sandwich was good together with some added bbq sauce but a little messy and when I ate a piece of brisket by itself, it was extremely dry and hard to swallow. The Mac and cheese was a little dry as well. I know it was likely baked but there was zero creaminess to it. Overall not horrible, I'll try it again and get something different but not overly impressed with what I got today.

Smoked Turkey, 3-Cheese Baked Mac & Hush Puppy

Ordered via ubereats and my food arrived warm & fresh. I enjoyed the smoke turkey as it was seasoned well and to my surprise the Mac & Cheese wasn't bad. Didn't like the hush puppies at all- too greasy.

I was surprised it was actually good. The greens and I think I got some good type of trio. I will go back.

Went there at 6pm on Mon 4/14 and it was not busy. They had plenty of people working, but they were all doing as little as possible. There was a girl with a weird purple/red colored hair color fixing the food. She was speaking loudly and throwing around F Bombs, about 4 times in less than a minute. She was telling a story to what looked like a manager in a red shirt, and he didn't tell her to watch her month. Then he dropped a F Bomb too before they stopped. They were not fighting, just didn't care. The place was a complete mess with no one paying any attention to cleaning it. Please see pics. The guy in the red shirt left at 7:10pm without cleaning anything nor giving any instruction to anyone else to clean up. Maybe he wasn't a manager, don't know for sure. I won't come back to this store but maybe not to City BBQ at all anywhere because it was so gross.

This is a nice spot for all of your BBQ taste. I was able to get a $5 coupon off. I suggest you check the website first to see if you can get any amount off of your bill. I highly recommend if you are in the Garner, NC area and there are other locations around North Carolina. Perfect Option for every type of meat eater! I loved that they identify what item have pork in it, as I don't eat pork and it is commonly cooked in staples. There's a deal on Ribs on Tuesdays. Convenience: I stopped to get fuel during my travel on the road and stumbled across City Barbecue. It is conveniently located in a mall center where there is a SHEETZ gas station and other shops. I was traveling off of I-95, so it was a 30 minute ride, but it is near I-40. Environment: There is inside and outside seating. I chose to seat outside and it was nice plus the weather was beautiful and it was during the sun setting. Quality: I tried the Brisket Chili, Fried Okra, Fries, Pulled Chicken Sandwich, Turkey Breast Sandwich, Baked Beans with Brisket and Peach Cobbler Brisket Chili: Never had before and loved it! 10/10 Fried Okra: Could have been fried harder, but it still satisfied the taste 9/10 Fries: Well-Seasoned 10/10 Pulled Chicken Sandwich: Well Seasoned, Moist- Melts in Your Mouth 10/10 (My Favorite) Turkey Breast Sandwich: Good flavor, but a bit dry the unfortunate dilemma of white meat it is easy to dry out 7/10 Baked Beans with Brisket: I loved that it included beef versus the traditional option pork 10/10 Peach Cobbler: Crust perfect, peaches well-baked 10/10 Price: I paid $28 dollars for two people. It was reasonably priced for BBQ.

I was in the area yesterday for an event and we decided to have City Barbeque for dinner. I ordered the 3 meats- brisket which had no flavor at all, sausage , and smoked turkey- which was very tasty. Oh and the Mac n cheese was also tasty. The employees were pretty nice and the restaurant appeared to be clean. All and all I probably wouldn't visit again if I'm ever in Raleigh.

The brisket tasted like a flavorless pot roast. It was awful. I can't even say any of the sides were good. We will never go back.

This is our second time in a row here and the food was dry and horrible. The brisket was not tender at all. Avoid at all cost.

I love City Barbeque. The service is prompt, the food is great, and the ~5 different BBQ sauces already at your table is a nice plus.

He was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating throughout our visit. We didn't have to wait long for our food to arrive. I ordered the Mediterranean Street Bowl, and it was delicious. The chicken shawarma was flavorful, tender, and not dry at all. My only suggestion would be to add a few more vegetables and a little less rice. My husband ordered the Grilled Chicken Cobb Salad, and the flavors were incredible. The combination of savory ingredients, creamy avocado, and fresh greens was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, especially with the FIFA match on TV. We even caught the exciting end of the USA vs. Australia game. Overall, we had a great experience--excellent food, outstanding service from David, and the bonus of watching the USA secure a win over Australia. We would definitely return.

They saw my order, the only one sitting there, looked at it, then said they needed to get somebody else. So I waited a couple of minutes for them to get somebody to total me out. The food was properly prepared when I ate it. I really did like the flavor from the French fries. The only thing they need to work on is their initial customer service. 2026-06 #582

I have been wanting to try this bbq place for awhile and we finally made it after going to an event…read moredowntown. We were fortunate to find a good parking place on the side of the building. As we were walking up my grandson said " this is a fancy place ". The decor is nicer than most bbq places for sure. I was surprised to see so many options that were not bbq and a large selection of sides. He got meatloaf with Mac and cheese and baked beans. He said it was the best meatloaf he ever had and this comes from a picky eater! He loved the Mac and cheese as well. It was a huge serving so I got to try the meatloaf and he was right. He didn't share the Mac and cheese. Neither of us cared for the baked beans. I had the brisket, Brussel sprouts and potato salad. The brisket was tender and flavorful. Awesome. The potato salad was ok but I didn't care for the Brussel sprouts . I would try two different sides next time. A basket of hush puppies and biscuits came as well. We were both so thirsty and I can report they had excellent sweet tea. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. The food came out faster than I expected. We will be back!

When you walk in the space feels like a converted industrial warehouse with a polish of upscale. You'll check in with the host when you arrive and then be seated. For the starter we ordered the Pit Sampler (a medley of their appetizers; which includes pit-smoked wings, BBQ soul rolls, Southern-style deviled eggs, and pimento cheese balls). Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the pit sampler as most dishes were a bit on the dry side, but the free basket of biscuits and hush puppies were great. For the entree we ordered the half rack of baby back ribs which were good but pretty fatty in some sections. I would return again in the future but may try something else on the menu.
