We decided to come to City Barbecue for dinner last night. We got there about an hour before they closed so it was pretty empty inside. The staff member greeted us right away and helped take our order. She did tell us their soda machine was out of carbonation so gave us free drinks that we could get tea or water with- that was very nice. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries. The food was pretty fast to come out and it was tasty. It was very filling as well. They have sauces on the side and I just got the original one. There are paper towels on the tables and you are suppose to put up trays and trash when done even though there were tables near us that decided to not do that. No one was in the parking lot. Usually that's a bad sign, but I'm glad that was not the case. As we were getting our drinks, they already had the food ready. The chicken in the salad melted in your mouth. The Texas toast in the sandwich was super soft. The bbq in the beans was delicious. My mom kept stealing my cornbread pudding. I love the food at City BBQ. My favorite is the pulled pork family pack. A pound of pork, two sides (potato salad, slaw, and green beans are my favorites), their delicious cornbread, and buns. All four under $30! It's a great meal, and a good deal! The only negative thing I have is doing the survey. You get five dollars off your next order for completing their survey. But when I logged into the survey, it would not actually let me complete the survey. Instead, it took me to other marketing sites totally unrelated to City BBQ. I resent that! It is deceptive and unacceptable. That's no way to treat your customers. Either fix the survey, or don't even offer it at all! The food at City BBQ gets five stars! The survey gets zero! read more

I swung by this place for takeout. It was a bit far from our hotel but our first BBQ spot we found on yelp was closed. The food was on par. Nothing was above or below par. I wouldn't avoid it but I would look for other options before going back again. The staff was fast and very friendly. They looked to have a typical BBQ down home interior with tables and seating. Hubby and I craved BBQ a couple weeks ago and decided to venture somewhere local instead of cooking. We found this place on yelp and thought it would be a good spot to try. We were greeted at the door by an employee informing us that mask were required before entry. This did make us feel more comfortable knowing that they were taking precautions for our safety. Once in the line moved quickly. You can see the menu for a far and really choose what you wanted. They have a pretty large seating area. Room for a full family dining experience. Your given a number and they bring the food out to your table or you can take it togo of course. Hubby and I ordered a pretty large smorgasbord of food. We both really enjoyed the meats the sides left a little something to be desired. Kiddo note: this restaurant is large enough for bIg families like ours (8ppl) you can fit a stroller and they do have kids meals. Adult note: definitely good for a quick lunch or stop in. The City Barbeque Catering service was awesome. We used their delivery and setup service for a birthday gathering and it was totally hassle free. The deliverer was on time and friendly. She setup efficiently and wrote each food item on the butcher block paper underneath the dishes. They provide all the utensils (including serving utensils), plates, napkins and condiments. We ordered the pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket. All were tender and tasty. The sides were Mac and cheese, green beans and baked beans. Again all were delicious. While exploring the south side of Indy, I found myself in the land of chain restaurants where Shelby Street meets US 31. I decided that BBQ sounded like a good option and since I enjoyed the franchise on the west side, I decided to stop in here. The free standing building had wrap around parking so it was easy to find a good spot. The patio was closed due to the time of year, but looked like it might be a decent option in warmer weather, though it doesn't have much of a view. Inside, the dining room with additional window seating is in front of you as you enter. The order counter/pickup counter is to your right. You simply get in line, pick what you want from the overhead menu board behind the counter, and pay. Your food, when ready, will be prepared and set out along the counter where you see it being prepared. Once my order was ready, I grabbed my tray and headed over to the accessory station in the dining room (along the right wall just before the restroom hallway.) There, I was able to get silverware, small cups of sauces, pickles, jalapenos, and my beverage. They don't use napkins. Instead, each table has a roll of paper towels available. I ordered Lolo's Pulled Pork as my sandwich and also picked a side of collard greens. The pork had a mildly smoked taste and the portion was fine for a lunch sized sandwich. I tried a couple sauces to see and though I generally like a Carolina mustard, I wasn't a big fan of their house mustard. I also tried their original sweet sauce and it was pretty good, but had a bit of a molasses taste to me. So, it was good, but not great. I really liked the collard greens. The leaves were cut to a manageable size and were cooked with bits of pulled pork for flavor. Highly recommended if you want to order a side and aren't restricted to a veggie based diet. When done, each customer is expected to bus their own table with the clean up station near the entrance. We used to be regulars @ City BBQ Greenwood. However today, they have made horrible mistakes. We won't be going back. First, we ordered 2 of the same for pickup, as hubby was returning to town. Ordered pulled pork & 3 sides. Pork was not good: lots of charred FAT. I've included a pic! Ugg. The sides were (just OK)... Not up to usual. The baked beans were fine, the vinegar slaw, barely OK, and green beans were great (tho I was not impressed with the strings - - strong enough for my teeth). The worst: their BBQ sauce. They usually have a few sauces from which to choose. Nope. Had to use store version. NO Vinegar-Based sauce or anything. So if you're looking for SOUTHERN BBQ, or normal portions with a variety of great sides, I'd suggest better tasting SMOKEHOUSE (formerly on Main St.) or even SMOKEY BONES. I ordered online and the pickup time for 4:30 p.m. I followed thier instructions and made the aware I was on my way, and notified them I had arrived. I was 10 minutes early. The employee delivering to the vehicles waited on everyone around me. As other vehicles pulled up she came out spoke the them and returned with their orders. I sat in the #3 spot and had given them a complete description of my vehicle and she never returned. I went into the restaurant at 3:40 p.m. to see where my order was and not one employee ask if the could help. As others guest came in they stood without any assistance from an employee. Service was great! They have definitely raised their prices which is fine, but if you're going to raise your prices, you can't cut back on the quality & quantity of food. They used to give you a good amount with 2 sides included in the meal. They no longer do that everything is separate. The food was absolutely AMAZING.. meat so so juicy and tender, collard greens were on point, and the corn casserole was the bomb.com. The only reason I gave this a 4 star was for the Mac n cheese. I would have to say your Mac was wack. lol. My husband loves Mac and cheese and he said it was the worst he has had. We've been here many times and when we walked in and saw the long line we figured we'd be waiting a long wait for everything. Surprisingly the line was the longest wait. We no more than ordered and got our drinks and our food was being called! It was flavorful, fresh, and piping hot! We always get the same items and love them! The brisket is amazing and the edges with the wood flavor are the best part! For sides we definitely recommend hush puppies, fries, and an extra piece of Texas toast! When you walk in all you can smell is deliciousness! The staff is super welcoming and know the regulars. The brisket was perfect! Brisket was tender with a good ratio of outer crunch edges to inside pieces. The ribs where also excellent. The ribs where tender but not to the point of falling off the bone. Also the ribs where very lean. The sides where excellent! I had hush puppies and Mac and cheese. I will tell you based on my past experiences this is where most BBQ places fail. Hubby wanted BBQ so we popped in City Barbeque. When you go in there is t anything there to tell you what to do. At first I was looking around for a hostess and then I saw what looked like a line to the right. No one was around so I didn't know if that was for carry out or what. So hubby and I go over and start looking at the board and finally a lady appeared and advised that yes that is where we order. So we decided to try the City sampler alone with a peach cobbler. We placed our order and then I waited by the counter. The same lady who told us were to order them asked us if we were they to pick up a carry out order. I didn't know what to do and they weren't being very helpful behind the counter. This was our first time and I told her that. Also, we were the only people there so it's not like we could gather what to do from others. I dk the whole ordering and getting our food thing threw me off. Didn't like that part. So we get our food and we got the pints for sides and they put servicing utensils in the sides but we didn't even get plates so I had to go back and wait for someone to pop out to ask for plates. The food itself is okay. The sides of corn pudding and fries were good. The cobbler was the best I've ever had and the meat was good. Not great but good. The sausage was really peppery, the turkey was freshly made, the pulled pork was fine and the brisket was decent but cold. I like that they have the little condiments thing out in the dining area so I could gorge myself on pickles. We'll probably order this on door dash but we will never go in to eat again. I went to City Barbeque to get some banana pudding. Although I missed the sign before walking up, they're completely closed to the public. You sit in your car and someone comes out to take your order, which is pretty nice. I would recommend a large sign indicating those instructions. How refreshing to go to a restaurant and 20 minutes before closing we call to do a takeout order and meet a genuinely a great and kind man like Andrew who happens to be the manager. He did not make us feel we were rushed, or wasting his time but the opposite. He took his time with us and made sure to suggest some things to go with what we were ordering and that we were happy with what we got. Not many amazing managers like this one, my husband and I know for sure we will be going back for him and their amazing food. I have been to City Barbeque many times, although this was my first visit to this location. I found it's physical layout/appearance to be the same as the other locations I have visited. While the place was hopping, the line to place our order moved very quickly. We ordered the family pack, with a pound of pulled pork, four buns, four corn bread mini-loaves, two pint sides, plus an additional order of a pound of beef brisket and a quart of peach cobbler with whipped cream and four bottled sodas and a free fountain drink for signing up for City Barbeque's app! Our meal was ready in no more than 3-4 minutes and brought to our table. The pulled pork and beef brisket were tender, hot and moist. While I didn't try our mac n' cheese side, I took more than my fair share of corn casserole! Super moist and delish!!! The peach cobbler was delicious with the addition of whipped cream which comes in a separate container. I love that they offer a few types of bbq sauce and self-serve dill cucumber chips (sort of Vlasic style). They keep rolls of paper towels on the tables and the atmosphere begs for casual and finger licking when you are done! I did make a visit to the restroom and thought it could have used some mire frequent clean up but not so bad that I would rather find a different facility. This was the only reason I deducted a star. If you like bbq, I think you will be happy you tried them! With their app, if you go on Mondays, you will receive double points so rewards twice as fast! Yay!!! read more
