Was told about this buffet from a friend. There's pros and cons. Upon entering this restaurant their menu board said they had 200 items to choose from off of their buffet. Idk if there is 200 items bc I didn't count lol, but there was still a TON of food. So many options and a wide variety. Mongolian bar, sushi, Chinese food, Thai food, Japanese food, fruit "bar", deserts and so much more. That of what I tried was very good. Only a few food items I did not like. And only one or two of my foods was not warm/hot like it should have been. This restaurant offered more food options or food options you normally don't see compared to like a local "Chinese buffet". I felt like the lunch price was reasonable considering how much is available to you etc. And considering that it is all you can eat. But there is a sign saying something about you can't stay past 2 hours lol. All the employees were nice. Some didn't understand English so it was sometimes hard to understand each other. Our waiter/waitress was attentive and pleasant. The restaurant looked to be clean. Very spacious. However, the bathrooms were NOT clean at all. Graffiti, and other unmentionable stuff that was gross! The last time I will ever come here. The waiter came to our table while we were eating and refilled the partially full condiments reaching across our plates to reach the soy sauce, salt, and pepper. He continually interrupted our meal then when we went to pay he stood behind us while I signed at the register. I tipped $3 on a $12 bill which is over 20%. The cashier looked at my receipt, laughed and told our waiter he only got $3. RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! I almost demanded they refund the tip but knew even though the waiter was intrusive during our meal he couldn't control the actions/choices of the cashier. Horribly unprofessional!! So much to choose from! Almost too much. The sushi was just ok. Not much better than a grocery store sushi counter. All of the Chinese food options were very good! I dont think we had anything that tasted like it'd been sitting for too long or that wasn't hot. The jalapeno chicken and generals chicken were the best. The dessert section was also very big, but we didn't leave room for anything. We also didn't try the Mongolian grill options. There didn't look like much for options so we decided to save room for other stuff. There is lots of seating and they were set up for several large groups. Lots of kids too, who all seemed to enjoy the chocolate fountain. Nice and clean and more updated than a lot of other Chinese buffets. And for the most part not too noisy (the kids I just mentioned) Service was very friendly and kept our table cleared of used plates. No alcohol, but they do have hot green tea, which I didn't see on their menu. Glad I asked. It's a nice large tea pot, perfect for a winter evening. It's enough to share. But I didn't cuz the hubby wanted soda, which they kept filled thru our dinner. $13-ish per adult for dinner. Well worth the price for the amount and variety of food you get. read more

Update: I leave it at 4 stars cuz I don't blame the place on my eating a bunch of stuff I'm not used to eating and even 2 raw sashimi choices that I've never tried. My innards rebelled during the night and as soon as I woke up I excreted a LOT and in a less than desired consistency. But it doesn't hurt or anything. I don't feel sick. Been there done that after almost 5 decades of life. I just pooped a bunch. I was full ALL DAY and just drank water and finally ate a couple bites of a kid's bagel at about 9 pm and a large bite of banana. It wasnt bad, its bigger that tin tin in medford or the grill everything tasted burnt. The sushi was good. And the tea was nice and hot. The food overall was good but the name is deceiving bc i didn't know it was a Chinese buffet so that through me for a loop but its a good place to eat. read more

Very delicious food. However you are hovered over by the employees as they watch you get your food, especially at the sushi bar. It sees like they jut keep a close eye on everyone which makes it a bit uncomfortable. The worse part tho is the smell in this place. It smells like an old nursing home. I've been a few times now, but this time something was off... the fella at the Mongolian grill burnt my food and dumped a ton of salt on it. The other stuff that is normally cooked fine and tasting good looked and tasted like the fryer was turned up way too high. Honestly, the worst buffet I've ever been to. -The customer service was good. Waitresses were constantly checking on tables, filling drinks as soon as the cups were half full, taking dirty plates right away, and constantly cleaning. -The food (other than the sushi, egg drop soup, and ice cream) was way under par. The fried rice had raw onions. The broccoli beef consisted of undercooked broccoli and mushy beef. The chicken kabob was grossly undercooked. The tso chicken was so mushy, it felt like I was eating soggy bread covered in sauce. The tapioca pudding tasted like play dough (I couldn't help but spit it out). -I really wanted to like this place since but ended up leaving hungry and regretting spending my money when I could've cooked better at home. Ate here a couple days ago and incredibly surprised by how good it was. The restaurant was clean, the food, was fresh, and the choices were amazing. The Mongolian BBQ was delicious and had an amazing array of fresh food to choose from. The dessert choices were also great too. There's a chocolate fountain and tons of ice cream choices that were all quite tasty. The price is quite reasonable and the service was all good. Go for lunch if you can. Lunch about $8 dinner or all weekend 12.25. Only difference seems to be some smallish ginger crab and muddy crawfish. Those were not high quality. Lots of shrimp dishes most fresh albeit flavorless. Whole salmon, cheesy baked mussels, baby clams, and decent sushi the best seafood choices. As for the rest, everything else is very good for a buffet. Fresher than Boise location and a huge place. There are too many choices! As everyone else stated, lots of good stuff. Wonderful array of fruits, passable Golden Corral like desserts, and good salad bar. But I don't go to buffet for those. The usual Chinese favorites all done well with extra breading. Rangoon's without crab are my favorite. It's not missed. I've been there several times haven't gotten to Mongolian yet. It looks good but I always seem to pick the wrong sauces. Dining here officially killed chain buffets for me, presentation is great, the facility is clean but the food quality was absolutely terrible I am sure the meat was imitation... you could just tell everything there was made with the cheapest possible ingredients. BONUS - your on camera the entire times so don't go stuffing your pockets with the nastiest egg rolls in the world. The price was unreasonable $40 for two adults and two children (3,7) + four waters. We could have eaten at JP Thailand Express for less than this and they craft local scratch made Thai food that doesn't make you feel like death... also there was a shitty diaper in the parking lot and an empty meat package from some cheap ass chicken. I went for lunch and the food wasn't super fresh probably because they weren't super busy but went back for dinner service that weekend when they were really busy and it was very good! The Mongolian is my favorite they have so many options. The sushi was good but the fried rolls were cold. Service was good both times. Definitely will be going back. read more

Wow! The choices here are wonderful! I had Mongolian BBQ for my main plate, but I also had to sample the fresh shrimp/cocktail sauce, a little sushi, fruit, and a little ice cream. Everything was delicious! Service was efficient and friendly. Currently the price for adults is $12.25, which is so reasonable!!! They offer a 10% senior discount as well, but I think you have to ask for it. read more

I've been wanting to go to City Buffet since they opened a month or two ago. I went the other night and I DO NOT regret it. The place is nice. The people are super friendly and quick to help. They, I believe, are overstaffed so they have plenty of people to help. As for the food I have to say what they put out is very good. I like the Chinese Grand Buffet on Fairview very much, but their food isn't as good as City Buffet. City Buffet has the regular Asian style buffet with some American food in the mix (as do all Asian style buffets) as another reviewer pointed out. A whole section for sushi and they have a great Mongolian Barbecue section as good as, if not better than, The Mongolian Barbecue restaurants themselves. I highly recommend visiting City Buffet on Caldwell Blvd in Nampa. You won't regret it and you'll wonder why it has gotten 2 negative reviews so far. read more

Incredible "all you can eat"! New facility and the best in Idaho by far!!! Just started in November of 2017 and looks to be built new from concrete floors up with all new equipment and furniture. We first started going to the Citi Buffet in Boise, always enjoyed going there. Lots of food to choose from and an AWESOME sushi selection. Then we moved to Nampa, initially we couldn't find any decent Chinese restaurants out here, then this City Buffet opened. We were so happy, no longer did we have to drive back into Boise to get our Chinese fix, we could now get there in 5 minutes. Lots of room, always clean, and the best all you can eat sushi we've found. We have never had a bad meal, or bad service. read more

I was very disappointed that they did nothing to protect against COVID. They don't require masks, everyone is touching the serving utensils and there is no social distancing. They used plastic wrap stretched between two sticks to protect the people who take the money. We just left. They should take the example of the Brazilian place in Boise. When you get up to get food, you must wear a mask. You wear gloves when you are getting food and social distancing. The gloves were just inexpensive ones.
