I read all of the reviews prior to my husband and I dining here for our Anniversary. We had to accept a early reservation as there were not any available for a reasonable dinner time. We arrived prior to them being ready to seat us. We did receive a congratulatory card with employee signatures on the back. That was a nice gesture. We explained to our server we had some reservations do to the mixed reviews. Drinks were good, but very expensive. I ordered a short rib special they had. The short rib had maybe 10-15% meat and the rest was fat. My husband had the bone in filet mignon. The food lacks any kind of flavor or seasoning. A young lady came to our table. Asked if she could box it up for me. When I expressed I did not need the fatty remains boxed to take home, a couple people came to the table after she left asking questions. Ultimately they did comp the meal. However, for the price paid for our evening, even with the comped meal and desert, we could have gone to Steiner Ranch Steakhouse or Flemings. Also, as far as dress code. There were many patrons that looked to be dressed pretty casual in comparison to what they say is "required". I visited for the first time on Saturday post Valentines. I ordered the Chilean Sea bass ($40) and the asparagus. The plate was drenched in butter from the asparagus. By the time the waiter came back to ask me how my meal was , it was too late to send it back. My husband ordered the hen which was good! Im not sure we will go back-not super impressed. We made it to dinner at the City Post Friday night, and it was a dinner that we won't soon forget. First, the service: The entire staff was attentive, personable, and engaged, despite being short staffed. Our waiter Tim did a very fine job, despite it being his first dinner shift. Most impressive though was Chef Adrian's leadership in running the restaurant. The restaurant ran very smoothly and comfortably, despite just opening for dinner a week ago, and with the limited staffing available. Hats off to the entire team for an excellent job. Next, the food: We started with the charcuterie tray, which was world class. The tray included two cheeses, including a smoky cheese rubbed with espresso, and unlike any cheese I've had before. Even better though was the uncured spicy salami with pistachio from a local salumeria. Both were so good that we bought packages to go at their onsite market. We also ordered the wedge salad, which had probably the best blue cheese I've ever had. Even the bacon was beyond the usual garnish, and came in very thick and meaty chunks. The entire salad was perfectly balanced, and quite honestly, divine. Naturally we came for the steaks, which were both seasoned to perfection and cooked to perfection. Of course you'd expect steaks to be cooked perfectly at a top-notch steakhouse, but that doesn't always happen. But here it did: both the filet and the bone-in ribeye came out perfectly medium rare, and with the perfect char. Also, don't skip the cocktails - they are top-notch, and are far beyond your typical cocktail. I had the Old Post Fashioned, which had just the right amount of sweetness, and which was garnished with a delicious caramelized fig. Even more impressive was the Post Poppy, with a flavor profile that was as complex as it was innovative. I'm not usually impressed by a restaurant's cocktail service, but I can't recall having two better cocktails than these. I've had the privilege of eating at top-rated restaurants literally from coast to coast. This dinner was not merely exceptional - no, the entire experience was memorable. Nick is fabulous and the food is delicious! We have tried both lunch and dinner and it's a great experience.

Our three-person party dined on a Saturday evening, May 6, 2023. The service was excellent. The decor and cleanliness was top notch. The noise level was a too loud for our taste especially during the piano bar. The pinot grigio was quite good as well as the key lime pie. The meal itself was very disappointing though. The Chilean sea bass was salty, overcooked and rubbery on one half (not sure how that was accomplished). The filet mignon was over-salted, overcooked and somewhat tough (requested medium, but it was almost well done) and there was no presentation....just the meat on a plate...no demi-glace or anything else to make it look nice. The side-order of brussels sprouts were over-salted and probably needed a five more minutes cooking time. Both the side-order and the plate-included french fries were limp, greasy and some were dark brown These are freshly made, but a preparation method exists which involves a couple of steps to produce crisp, non-greasy fresh french fries. In addition, the side-order fries were supposed to be "shareable" according to the server, but they gave the exact same amount of fries that came on the lobster roll plate which is meant for one person, so they weren't truly shareable. The lobster roll filling was tasty, but the roll/bread was hard. I was impressed that the staff called me today to ask about our visit; it's great that they are concerned about the diner's experience. The head chef/manager Adrian was put on the call. He was nice and apologized for our experience. I was asked why I didn't mention our dissatisfaction at the restaurant and I told him I didn't want to hold up our meal for 15 to 20 minutes longer to wait for our food to be remade. Our meal missed the mark on almost every food item. Both the person taking the reservation and the server asked if this was our first visit to which were confirmed it was and our first impression isn't good. Based on the pricing, I honestly expected City Post to be the same caliber as Eddie V's. but it's not anywhere close. Our check was $180.00 before tip. I think customers would expect much better food preparation and presentation at these prices. Of course, I'd also expect the same for lower prices. Sadly, no one in our party has a desire to return to City Post. read more

Despite some miscommunication with our visit, the leadership of City Post was absolutely professional, managing our situation with amazing humbleness and generosity. As for all other aspects of our visit/meal, wow, it was top notch. The staff was fantastically accommodating and attentive. Truly top-flight. The food was amazing! Started with oyster's (delightfully fresh) and Onion soup (makes my mouth water thinking about it). The Sea Bass was fresh and cooked impeccably. But, stop the presses....for you red meat eaters, Pro-tip; Order the NY steak! Cooked and seared to perfection, with the ideal amount of wood-fired smoke flavor and tenderness! We celebrated Mother's Day lunch today. The food was great! We had the shrimp cocktail and a charcuterie board. Wow! Good blend sweet, salty, creamy and extra horseradish to mix in the sauce for the shrimp. Bites were shared between the crispy kale salad with chicken, wagu burger and Colette steak. The Chef Adrian introduced himself and between Allison, several wait staff, we were served so well. The desserts from Sweet Lemon were excellent but that hot apple pie with ice cream...yum! This was my second visit to City Post Chophouse. We are not from the area but visit family here often. This was a birthday celebration for our daughter, as was last year's visit. For the record, our experience last year was, without a doubt five stars. Although the restaurant confirmed our 7:15 reservation three times, when we arrived, we were told that our table still had diners seated. We were not offered another table at which to dine. There was no room for us in the bar, so we waited in the lobby for over 15 minutes prior to being seated. Our waiter, let me say, was fabulous. No complaints whatsoever with JP. Our drinks were okay. One was as expected, my Rose' was tasty but my husband's Old Fashioned was very small. He did enjoy the drink itself. Upon ordering our meals, the entree that I happily anticipated, because it was so delightful last year, was sold out. Apparently, the last one had been ordered right before we were seated. The Chilean Sea Bass that I chose instead was fresh and well-prepared but the dish was bland-both the fish and the asparagus were lacking in anything special. The other three diners, including the birthday celebrant, were mainly satisfied with their meals, although my husband's steak was not prepared medium but closer to medium rare and needed to be amended. Each couple shared a wedge salad. The bacon used as well as the dressing, is outstanding. However, the other couple ordered theirs without tomatoes and had to be corrected when there were tomatoes on the dish. Dessert was a satisfying end to the meal. The Apple Pie Ala Mode and Key Lime Pie, were both well done. It was in no way a disappointment, but after my first time to dine there, it was a bit of a surprise. read more

Went Friday for dinner and saw great Musial upstairs. Food and staff get 5 stars. The acoustics upstairs are so bad the sound is just bouncing off the walls. It has some acoustic panels but not nearly enough (none ceiling or lower half walls).Please get professional input on acoustics and sound system. read more

City Post Chophouse in Georgetown is the place to go for an amazing meal and top quality service! Our group enjoyed the Post Poppy and Old Post Fashioned cocktails to start along with steak tartare, oysters on the half shell, and cups of smoky flavorful clam chowder. Entrees included boneless ribeye (to die for!), filet mignon, sea bass & salmon with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts for sides served family style. Made a reservation a week ago for 6/10 at 4:30pm. My husband get a call on 6/9 saying that there's no tables and we have to SHARE a U shaped booth with strangers or take the bar. He called me right when he hung up I wasn't happy about either because we have a reservation so why do we need to be put at the bar. I agreed anyway to Bartops he called them back right then and bar was no longer an option so only sharing a booth. I tried to call and ask how it's acceptable to take reservation and book over Capacity to force strangers to sit together when they booked a reservation. They told me to call back after the lunch rush to talk to manager. Horrible customer service. We were going to celebrate moving here with a nice dinner not have to be awkward sharing a booth with another couple. Covid still exist and certain people have eating habits that maybe others don't find pleasing to make someone sit through that while paying for a nice dinner is appalling. My husband didn't want to do this either. Can't say much for the food the customer service is not good. read more

We were greeted by our chef, Adrian, for our dinner at City Post Chop House and ushered into a warm environment . We loved Tim and Chef Adrian immediately. My Filet Mignon was very tasty as was my husbands steak. I could cut the Filet with my fork! I have not had steak like this since The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach...which was years ago. The champagne was ice cold, sparkling and absolutely uplifting! Tim was seriously attentive to our every need as was Chef Adrian. It should be noted here that we have eaten at 5 star restaurants and lived some years in Europe. Not much impresses us in the food area. But I can honestly say, Welcome to City Post Chophouse; you are a breath of fresh air! I will gladly spend my money at City Post Chophouse rather than at some "slop house." Everything served was fresh, beautifully presented , and very tasty. The asparagus (which I am a stickler about) was cooked to perfection. I can't wait to try Chophouse for lunch. I am sure my lady friends as well will love the whole experience! This is the perfect place to take our visiting house guests.
