I hate judging a place based on just one visit but this was my first and last. Our server Angel was about the sweetest and most attentive server I've encountered here in Broward in a long time. Unfortunately the food was overpriced and tasteless. Fried pickles, Wings, & Fish and Chips (it was cheat night!). The fried pickles were sliced too thin and were tasteless. The wings were...tasteless and they didn't even look appealing. The batter on the fish and chips was sad, tasteless and pretty much inedible. Even the fries tasted like microwaved frozen potatoes. Always heard good things about this place and finally went and checked it out; it did not disappoint. Came on a Monday around 6 and it wasn't busy at all plus happy hour till 7, score. Kim Crawford wine was 50% which was amazing. For an app we got the Mac and cheese. Huge portion and delicious. Could have easily been a meal. For dinner I had sushi, a mango tango roll and edamame. They had a huge sushi selection which surprised me at a restaurant that seemed to have a majority of American cuisine. But I'm a huge sushi fan and it was delicious and fresh. We also got the ribs which were amazing! The meat fell right off the bone. We could tell our sever was new as she seemed to still be learning the menu but she was so sweet and attentive. I usually love CJ Blacks but last two experiences have really been underwhelming. Last week when I visited Mac and cheese which I usually love was watery and just not good. Went back tonight and ordered the eggplant sandwich with fries. I asked for ranch for my fries. They brought me two small containers and by small I mean the black plastic containers you get at most restaurants. When the bill comes they charged me 3 dollars for each ranch. When I ask the waitress, she tells me they are now required to charge for it because it is made in house. My issue is why not tell me when I ask for it that you now charge for it and just last week you weren't charging for it. And honestly 3 dollars is highway robbery, for the size of what they give you! read more

This place might be my new go to for food. If you go at the right time or make a reservation you will have no issues getting a table. Later in the evening it does get busier. For appetizer we ordered the pretzel. Came with cheese and marinara sauce. I of course asked for mustard because who doesn't love mustard with a soft pretzel. This is one of the best pretzels that I have had in a while hands down. It comes in a pizza box and we took half of it home with us. Can you say chicken and waffles!? Really wanted to be happy with my $160.00 Fathers day dinner. Ordered pickup early. Not busy when I picked up my order. Checked the order quickly for the right amount of boxes. Live 20 minutes away. Got home.. missing a specialty roll. Called, asked for a manager, not available. I was told it was still there and I could come back and get it. The only reason I would not recommend this place is because the bartender charged me twice for tip. She told us our total then when it was time to pay the price went up. Then showed us the handheld asking for a tip. We did not get a paper copy like we requested. So when we went back and did the math, she basically charged us 40% for a tip. Great food, excellent drinks, with a rustic bar restaurant atmosphere. Creative menu including flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steaks, American comfort food and sushi. There is something for everyone. Daily specials too. There is a kids menu and it is a bit on the pricey side. Actually, everything on the menu is about $3 more than you would expect it to be. The Martini's are amazing and consist of a huge pour with extra on the side. They will also make you home made blue cheese olives. Excellent wine menu and beer selection too. The pretzel appetizer is great. The Sushi is fresh and authentic. All if the portions are large. Some of our favorites include the French dip made with freshly carved steak, grouper rubin, grouper francesse (specials menu), and brisket. I've been here like four times now. I think the only reason I would go here is for the live music unfortunately. I haven't had one meal here that I loved, and we always have to send something back because it tasted old or fishy or something. This was my 2nd time here. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted by the hostess and sat. The atmosphere is nice with 2 bars and exposed wood beams everywhere. They have a sushi bar which we didn't try. The first time was ok. I had the French onion soup which was retry big and loaded with lots of cheese. It could've been a meal in itself. I also had the white chicken flatbread which was big and pretty flavorful. My husband ordered the prime rib which we were told was perfectly delicious. The plate came and it was a large piece, but the color was strange, it was hard to cut, and even more difficult to chew. He sent it back and they brought out another piece that was fresh out of the oven. It was loaded with flavor and melted in your mouth. The next time we went, my husband ordered the wings with the Moe's sauce. They were pretty large and had a good amount of sauce on them. But, when you bit into them, they were crunchy and inside kind of dry. A bit over cooked. I ordered one of the special dishes which was spinach and mushrooms rolled up in chicken with a Marsala sauce. It was served over a mound of mashed potatoes. It was scrumptious!!! The service both times was a bit lacking. We waited quite a while to be waited on and when our drinks were empty, they weren't refilled promptly. You walk into an ambiance of a cowboy saloon. Rustic woodwork, exposed brick and trinkets like steel pipe lamps and gears line the shelves. Along the side of the restaurant is a sushi bar and at the back is the bar with tvs playing sports. This restaurant has been opened for 13 weeks and has definitely paid attention to details. The service was spot on and prompt. The dish sizes are large. For our first visit here, we ordered the fish and chips, the in&out burger(because of the name), the black bean burger and the mahi sandwich. The black bean burger is made in house. It comes cajun style. The look of it looked burnt but once I tried it it was fine. You can see the whole pieces of black beans bit they are soft. The fish & chips are huge! You could probably share. The bowl is lined with newspaper (again attention to detail) then fries and topped with 2 large pieces of crispy fish. Crispy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. The mahi sandwich is a nice, thick piece of fish. Ours came out dry though. The burger was good. The decor of this place is great. The food is in big portions. read more

Came here last night with my parents. The location is very close to our home and we had been to the restaurants that were here prior to CJ Blacks. My mom saw that it was now open so we decided to check it out for dinner. The restaurant has an industrial steampunk vibe. I liked the decor and lighting fixtures. After sitting down we asked our server how long they had been open and she let us know that this was actually their grand opening. They had a soft opening last week, but this was their first official night with their full menu. She suggested we started with the giant 1.5 lb pretzel.. and wow it was big.. and yummy. Great for sharing if you're with a large party there will be enough for everyone! They menu is pretty big there are sandwiches, salads, wings, and even a sushi menu coming soon! For our entrees I got the chicken/spinach/goat cheese salad, my mom got the wedge salad, and my dad got the fish and chips. The food came out pretty quick considering they were pretty busy and it was their first night open. When my salad came out though I realized it didn't have any chicken on it or dressing. We tried to get our waitress' attention, but she was busy with a another table. We got the attention of the manager and she took care of it and brought the salad back out with all the toppings. It tasted great! Our server was very apologetic, but I understand they still have kinks to work out being so new! I'm sure we'll be back here especially considering how close it is to where we live! Went in on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were greeted by an overwhelming bleach smell. The hostess told the people before us she could seat them but wanted them to wait 5-10 minutes because they were still having a soft opening. Fair enough. I understood what she meant but perhaps a bit more of an explanation would have been nice, the people looked confused. Knowing we would probably have to wait, we went to the bar. The bartender's name was Ronnie and he was very nice and welcoming. The bar was clean and organized. Loved Ronnie! We had a French onion soup, Asian salad and French dip. French onion soup: large portion, pretty good Asian salad: interesting salad, warm noodles and chicken on a salad mix French dip: large pieces of medium prime rib, pretty bland, no horseradish sauce, but they do have horseradish. Au jus was extremely salty. It was the same price as a French dip at J Alexander's around the corner, but no where near the same quality. Music played the majority of the time (one hit wonders from the 80's genre) but would turn off for seconds at a time, and then just turn off for awhile? Someone's phone connected to the speakers perhaps? We will try it again in a few months but the food and atmosphere don't match up to the price points. read more

CJ Blacks... if the parking lot was any indication of how popular this place is already, CJ Blacks is a rock star. On a Wednesday night, a little after 7 I had to park a ways away and walk. With that being said, there is still plenty of parking in the mall area surrounding this venue. The place is large. There is seating outside around the front. When you walk into the front door, there is a meeting area on the right, restrooms to the left, and the bar is all the way to the back. I am quoting another Yelper when I say it is kind of steam punky. The dining area is open with a lot of wood and steel. On this trip I sat at the bar and was fortunate enough to meet Morgan, I think was his name. He is a curly haired bartender there who gave me a whole class on peaty scotch. Thanks for that. Started with a local beer, Last Mango in Paris... Holymackeral Weed Reaper Experiment. It was awesome. For starters I had the baked oysters, they were good, but for $13 and 5 oysters, probably not worth it. It might be if they have it for some happy hour special at a reduced rate. Main course was an in and out burger without the bun and a bone in rib eye with sauteed spinach and mushrooms. The burger was great. Now onto the other entree. Before I get into that, here is the disclaimer. That night they were slammed, so the service was a little slower and it was obvious as they have just opened that they were still working out some of the kinks. So my rib eye and spinach were over salted. So much so that I had to send it back. Now here is the funny part, when they made a new plate they didn't include any salt at all. Luckily by that time I had had enough drinks and mushrooms so that I wasn't very hungry. Two of the bites of the steak and a fork full of spinach and I took the rest to go. I had it for breakfast the next morning and with a little sea salt it was really good. So on this outing, we had beer and scotch. And boy do they have a great selection of spirits. This adventure I give 5 stars for the service at the bar and not as many stars for my entree and the food in general. I had a great time and that is what matters right? read more

I don't like to bash restaurants but the food here was very disappointing. My husband ordered the pan seared grouper - it was tasteless. I ordered the special - lobster roll with melted butter. It came out on a dry hamburger roll and when I opened it, the lobster was a grey rubbery mess. I tasted it and it was like chewing rubber bands. There was no way I could eat it. I don't think I have ever returned a meal but at $34 I felt I had to. Our server was so sweet and immediately removed it and took it off of our bill. She offered another choice but I declined as it had turned my stomach. She was very apologetic. I can't comment on other food, but I would stay away from any lobster. This was definitely, frozen and reheated resulting in it being overcooked, tasteless and rubbery. read more

This was my first time I visited CJ Blacks and also my last time. I ordered the salmon and told the waitress that I wanted it with No Seasoning and instead I received it with a Salt Filled seasoning. I sent it back and then ordered a Soprano chicken sandwich and fries with No Salt. When it came the fries were full of salt and the waitress argued with me telling me that they had no salt even they were full of salt. I then asked a male employee to please get me the manager Billy. Before leaving the table to get Billy this employee reached into my plate to grab a few fries which he proceeded to eat and then tell me that they weren't salty. My wife has worked in food service for the schoolboard for 32 years and she could easily tell that there was salt on them. The salad dressing was also wrong. I also had a toddler banging on the glass behind me and the noise was so loud that I felt I was at a Chuck E. Cheese. When the waitress brought over the bill it was incorrect and it took her and the manager a long time to correct it. I felt at this point that either all or part of the bill should have been comped or at least offered a dessert but that didn't happen. First timers. The outside and inside decor is super nice. Makes you feel like you are a pioneer! Greeted by hostess stand and was told 20 min wait. They were not super full but the bar was packed. There's community style high tops also. Was sat with in the 20 mins. Noticed the sushi bar! Waitress was nice. Big menu and the waitress told The the portions are big. We started with California roll. Ordered the clam chowder but never got that. Oh well things happen. Full rack of ribs were delicious. The Mona Lisa sandwich was ok. We enjoyed the atmosphere however it's very loud in there. There's music in the background but it's just one of those places where voices carry and it's noisy. We are good with that but just FYI. We arrived about 730 on Friday night and of course the place was packed.We were told it would be about 20/30 min wait which was ok. They had a live band playing 70' tunes and some country music.The outside temp has been cool this week so we didn't want to eat outside. So they called our table in 25 min but when we got back to the table the ac was still on in the building and it was COLD. Even our waitress said yes it was cold in the building. We ordered hot tea and some fried pickles for an appetizer the pickles were good and the sauce a little spicy but good. My wife had a Manhattan sandwich which is CJs version of a Rueben sandwich. I had Asian meatloaf which was good. Our waitress was attentive and came to table often to check on us. Overall the food was good but the place was freezing and the noise level in the building was loud. We will probably go back but on a night without a band playing and when it's not quite so cold inside. read more

One of the best restaurants I've ever visited. They provide so many different types of food options that I can always choose something different on the menu and they never disappoint. Although steak and service where good I can't let a Restuarant get away with serving kraft instant Mac and cheese as their kids meal (and not cheaply either) ... it is horrible that Restuarant think that is ok just because a kid is eating it. Not impressed, long wait for meals, Red Wine not chilled. Food Luke warm. I'm not sure if this was an off day here on a Saturday.

Party of 6 today that staggered in at different times...our server Brandon was by far one of the best servers I have encountered eating out since covid!!! He was friendly, attentive, made jokes, was on top of our every needs and didnt make a big deal that we asked for 5 separate checks.....I believe our check was maybe $400 plus all together and we made sure he got a $100 plus tip!!!
