So this is a neighborhood/town bar 1st and foremost...they also serve food. The staff is great and attentive. The owner is there most mornings mingling with the staff and customers. The food is good bar food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner along with daily specials are plentiful and filling with options for pretty much everyone. They have inside and outside seating. Plenty of TV's to watch all the games throughout the week. They do plenty of events from St Patrick's day to the Sherwood Robin Hood Festival and everything in between. Their prices have gone up throughout the last few years but overall we will still consider this a great option for breakfast and a place to have a drink with friends. read more

I only get to come here when I visit my parents since I no longer longer live here. It's been 4 years since my last review... it looked like a whole new staff...& this place still did NOT DISSAPOINT! BEST halibut fish & chips EVER. The east coast has NOTHING that compares! I think the tarter was actually even better than before with a delicious amount of dresh dill in it. Hand cut fries, delicious sauces from scratch...this place is truly an iconic treasure in this once small town. Came in here on a Saturday night and there were a couple opens spots at the bar. They had the Oregon game on so we just ordered a couple drinks and shared a couple appetizers. We ordered some fries and wings. The food was fine, not exceptional. Overall, I'd go back. It's a cozy bar with a good atmosphere. One small complaint would be the bartender was not friendly whatsoever. Didn't want to engage in any form of small talk and didn't appear happy to be at work. Clancy's is a good place in that it is friendly, clean and reliable. I wouldn't say it's food is spectacular, though I've had the clam chowder (when I ate meat) in the bread bowl and it was very much worth it. They can also pull an excellent Guinness pint- I typically hate Guinness, especially when canned or bottled, but on tap it can be quite a treat. They seem to have a good happy hour and I have always wanted to come for breakfast, but haven't gone in quite yet. As I mentioned earlier, the service is where it is at, and it is very rare that anything mediocre or even negative has happened. One time, the waitress was very much flustered and kept asking over and over again if we were getting food (after saying no three times.) She was at least friendly, but it was kind of annoying. They have a decent sized tap list too, and even have options for the non-hop heads like me (where are all the good non-Quad hopped beers at?!?) Is it worth going out of your way? Not particularly, but it's nice to have a bar within walking distance of home that isn't super expensive. read more

SO disappointed with this experience. Went with our whole family for breakfast based on reviews. The service was unfriendly and food was poor quality. I got the huevos ranchos and I highly recommend the staff remove it from the menu. It was canned overbooked and unseasoned beans on top of soggy tortillas. The eggs were over cooked too. No sauce. A little sour cream and salsa on the side. I couldn't eat it. My family didn't have a better experience, but theirs were luckily edible. It's a pretty good restaurant it's a bit on the more expensive side but the food is good and it gives a very bar like fooling with sports TVs. it has pretty good service and occasional screwup in the order but it's not that common. it has a kind of more mellow feeling to it you can just sit down and have some food and watch whatever sports you're on . read more

My man's fam lives in Sherwood, and when we visit we often have dinner with them in this cute bar located downtown. This Irish pub serves typical bar food (I like their chili with shredded cheese on top) with the latest sports games on in the background, and the environment makes me feel like I'm in a cute small town bar. The food is decent (especially for the price). They have outdoor seating in the summer time, and the old brick building gives you the feeling that if you were sitting in the same bar stool 30 yrs prior, it would look the same as it does today. Expectations were low and were not even met. Chili is OK -- passable. Edible. Came with garlic bread which seems like soggy toasted Wonder bread. Sadly, this was a highlight. The fillet -- which was on the pricey side -- was bloody awful. Fake grill marks (a.k.a. marks from where the jockey was hitting it), dry and ZERO flavor. Ditto the sad little potato and the yucky broccoli. Salad made with produce that was past its prime. My dining companion did say the food is better than jail food, so there's that. Just popped into Clancy's for a quick break away during our kids practice. It was a snow day in Portland. Clancy's was hopping when we walked in. Super friendly service. Sad to say after 30 years enjoying CLANCY'S we will not be going back! The prime rib was the size of lunch meat. There were no clams in the clam chowder. We were charged 2.00 for horseradish, even though she said it came with the dinner. I realize how difficult the restaurant industry is, but money is tight and we will be seeking a venue that concentrates on giving its customers a fair deal. Is there new ownership? Last Monday my wife and I came in for lunch, the experience weighed on us all week, so we decided to post. Not sure what has happened but the prices have been hiked so high, and we witnessed the most despicable thing. The new owner or general manager was screaming and berating our server/ bartender that we could hear it from across the restaurant. As a customer it was very uncomfortable and we could feel the tension in the restaurant, and decided to leave. Posting in hopes that the original owner Clancys is still there, and if so he needs to know whats happening to his staff and pub before the damage is done and this iconic old town pub is no longer. Don't get the wrong idea this comes without malice, we've come in off and on for years, and are big fans of the chowder, even with prices being high we probably still be back and order it togo. We truly have enjoyed this spot and care about the staff, with that, I'm not sure if the business is struggling, but bad management/ or Possibly new ownership and the new price gouge its gonna lose Customers and Employee's at exponential rate if it haven't already from what we witnessed. We dont want to see this place disappear, hope this gets owner's attention and changes are made. read more

I've always liked Clancy's and have eaten there many, many times. But the last few times have been disappointing as far as service. I was there with my husband and son a couple nights ago. We sat at a dirty table for 10-15 minutes and even though at least 3 waitstaff looked our way, not one of them ever said a word. I don't mind waiting - I know restaurants are having a hard time finding help these days. But when one of the waiters brought menus to the table next to us (who sat down after we did), and still never said a word to us, we left and don't plan to ever go back. So sad. It's not rocket science. If someone had just said "we'll be with you when we can", that is all it would've taken. It's just that the last few times we've been there, it feels like we are inconveniencing the waitstaff. Not friendly at all!! And your food isn't good enough to put up with it. read more
