[[HIGHLIGHT]]50's style diner. Enjoy your meal with music from the 50's playing at a low volume in the background.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had linguica, eggs and country potatoes.Restaurant is in a small shopping center with plenty of parking. Food was delicious and service very good.

I don't know how pre-scrambled egg product, canned gravy (possibly a mix) and spongy food service biscuits resemble a 50s diner but here we are. I'll just talk about what was good. The bacon was great - irregularly shaped bacon slices perfectly rendered with chewy and crispy parts. The single pancake I ordered for my girlfriend was excellent. I loved the malty background flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was "worn".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was excellent. I won't be back but if you dine here, maybe get a short stack with bacon?

Props to the chef. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict. It was amazing. Simply not overdone. Liquidy. Perfection. The sauce was excellent. Can't say enough about the hash browns as well. Perfection. Nicely browned where it needed to be. Some crispy, some not. Just the way it should be. The coffee was nice and strong. The service was quite excellent. Attentive, but not overly. My boyfriend and I like coming here when we're running errands in the Fremont area. The service here is really good! They are very friendly and your food comes out quicker than other diners for sure! The quality of the food is also great however the last time I came here I tried their French toast & I felt like it was missing more cinnamon & egg. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also decided to dine outdoors as the weather was nice and since they had tables outside with umbrellas which was convenient but we noticed that the table was very dusty[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. (Not sure if they probably forgot to clean it that day since not everyone dines outside.)

Hello, 50's diner is a hit if you love Americana and Mexican cuisine. They have a menu that has classic dishes like pigs in a blanket, or chorizo and eggs just to name a few. They have lunch items that are a favorite and are full of fresh ingredients. They have a well rounded menu, that will delight your appetite, and the service that is on par too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you love the 50's classic music and retro flare you will dig this diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We enjoyed pigs in a blanket which was a huge dish that you could share. Hamburger and fries, our milkshake was creamy and sweet. Give them a try for some diner fair in Fremont.

This spot has a super friendly staff, and attentive. The food was great. They had a green salsa WOW. That is a must have on your plate. A solid 4.7 in my books. I need to tr a few more things on the menu. Updates incoming.

Pretty good parking. Definite diners vibe, diner tables and seats, photos of actors and cars and locals. It gets pretty packed but the flow is pretty good so you're not waiting long. Once you come, you seat yourselves. We only found tables that were just vacated but someone came over quickly to clean it up for us. They are always coming around to fit your coffee mug. There wasn't really a kids menu that we saw in case you're coming with kids. You could always do a bunch of sides though. They've got a senior citizens menu. Food was great. Big portions. The cornbeef hash is made in the style I like. It was delicious! Pancakes were nice and fluffy. The aisles are pretty tight so not necessarily that accessible, but they do have tables outside that are accessible. You go up to the counter to pay. Love this local staple.

Second time going there I went for breakfast over all it was good everything had good flavor [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the old classic car theme in there[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we need more restaurants like this I'll be back again. Great place and not too pricey.

We live close to this diner and we come here often. Plus I have lots of restaurant.com for $10 off of $20. They only limit 1 per month. But for 3 of us we pay about $15 that's with tip. I usually order the breakfast, its my favorite...the Sampler is what its called, its big and I share with my son. He likes the breakfast there as well, but the kids menu doesn't have enough food to satisfy him. The Sampler has a slice of ham, hash browns, 2 sausages, 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of toast, 3 pancakes and scrambled eggs. I always take home a doggie bag and eat it the next day at work. Ive had the meatloaf and chicken dinners as well both are good, just like home cooking. The real ice cream shakes are tasty and nice to share. The place can get busy on the weekends, but we normally come on the weekdays. Its a small place located right across the street from Blockbuster Video, in the FoodMaxx shopping center. read more

Cute little diner with an obvious 50s theme. There's a lifesize Elvis sitting outside like others have previously mentioned. Pretty cool. I dropped by here for brunch with the hubby and doggy since they had outdoor seating that allowed dogs. Their outdoor seating is basically 5-6 tables on the "sidewalk" right in front of their restaurant. All tables are first come first serve, and a seat yourself basis, so we waited a little for an outdoor table to open up on the warm, fall morning. The service was overall pleasant, but when it comes to serving your food, it's SO SLOW. I felt like we really waited forever for the food to come. The waitress even came out to apologize for the long wait because their kitchen is a bit "slower today". The coffee was typical diner coffee, but fairly drinkable. I ordered a ham and egg scram (forgot the actual name) and it was not too bad. I was quite excited to see that this restaurant had ham since it seems like most brunch places are having a smaller and smaller ham selection for breakfast (it looks like sausages and bacon are more popular). Mine came with a side of country potatoes that I didn't touch since I didn't like it too much, and a biscuit (choice of toast was optional). The biscuit was quite moist and I really enjoyed that. My husband's corn beef hash was quite tasty as well. I'm usually not a huge fan of corned beef hash, but I have to give them props for making theirs so tasty. Portions are not large and price ($6-9) is decent for what you get. Good deal? Eh, ,maybbeeeee. read more

My boyfriend and I have been here twice and we both enjoy the food. I've had the strawberry pancakes and French toast and he usually gets a combo. Only downside is that service can be a little on the slow side. read more

Classic diner is just what it's title is. A classic spot. With a statue of Elvis in the front of the establishment. They serve breakfast and lunch. But I only come for the breakfast. I get the breakfast sampler. Everything is made quick and taste delicious. If I lived in Fremont I would come here even more than I do. read more

I just dropped my four-legged furry baby off for grooming. I was looking for a place to eat breakfast here in Fremont. My navigation gave me a list of locations and classic diner was on the list. I reviewed the menu it looked like everything I would eat so I gave it a chance. To my surprise the restaurant was super clean . The servers are so courteous and attentive, I place my order it arrived so quickly, I'm saying within five minutes my food was already on my table piping hot. The taste of the country potatoes is amazing. If you would like a nice spot to eat a great breakfast and listen to comfortable 50s music make your breakfast spot Classic Dner. This is the kind of place you go to for the atmosphere, not the food. Omelettes are a bit on the small side with only few veggie options. I'm still not sure how I feel about the country potatoes as a side. Boyfriend got the chicken fried steak and my mom got a burger and fries and both said they enjoyed their meals. I was most impressed with my milkshake. I ordered banana chocolate but received banana vanilla. It was whatevas and I still enjoyed it. I was pretty impressed with their food! Service was great the girl that attended to us was really nice and never gave us an attitude for our back n forth requests. I asked for egg whites and they said ok =) Only one complaint... Their hot chocolate taste like water. We did end up getting it replaced and done right. Overall it was a great experience and we will be back for their all you can eat for $10! read more

My husband and I love coming here! They have great food at a very reasonable price and the service is super prompt. Every time we have come here, we seat ourselves (I think that's just how it is all the time). Once we sit down, they bring us menus and come back in the perfect amount of time for us to decide on our meals. The next time they check on us is when we actually get our food. When we get the food, they also drop off the check. At first I thought it was subtlety saying "get out asap" but it's pretty convenient, especially when we are in a rush in the morning. I'm so glad we found this gem in the Fremont hub area! I'm sure we will keep coming back! read more

Absolutely delicious breakfast but it stands out for its above and beyond extraordinary service! We were a table of 12 ordered almost everything on the menu and we all love each and every plate. I had the breakfast burrito -- their homemade salsa is extraordinary. My parents order every possible customization you can imagine you could possible want and even with such a large table they got everything exactly the way everybody likes it. We were already talking on the table that it deserves 5-stars when the following happened to go beyond amazing service. My dad had ordered green Tabasco a few minutes earlier and they didn't have any. 5 minutes go by and one of the waitresses walk in the door with a brand new bottle! She ran across the street to buy it -- that has never happened to me. Amazing and deserving of the greatest of reviews. Few places are willing to make such an effort to make you happy. Norma, Brenda, and Rose are amazing -- I had to ask their names to make sure they get recognition from ownership. This place has entered into my top top favorite breakfast dinners. This place gets 5stars from me all because of the steak sandwich. So juicy tender and delicious. It's been a long time since I've had a wonderful steak sandwich and I've been waiting another ever since I had it. Stopped here as a spur of moment spot to eat with family and some friends to beat the heat of the valley. Great seating outside on a wonderful weekend. Place wasn't to busy but top notch service the day we went. I wished I took a picture of it that day still can taste it. I advise all to try it!!!! read more

We shop at the food mart and needs Ed some grubb before grove eat shopping and stop in. The service was great and the diiner food was to be what you would expect from a classic diner. Mr Man and I have been eyeing this place for a while. We finally made it in and after reviewing yelpers' reviews, decided to go for the breakfast. I got a "wake up lil susie" which filled me up nicely (it would NOT have filled up my 220lb husband tho...) and Mr Man got the corned beef hash. In his opinion, the corned beef hash at Country Way is better. Still, he finished his plate and was satisfied. I also had a chocolate strawberry malt which was decent, but not the best I've ever had. If you come here, I'd stick with the breakfast menu: get the country potatoes as a side instead of the hash browns - you won't be disappointed. read more

I came here for the first time recently and wasn't too impressed. To start off, we ordered the Trio Platter appetizer which consisted of jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, and breaded mushrooms. The appetizer came out quickly, only minutes after we ordered. It didn't look too appetizing and it tasted even worse. The jalapeno poppers and mushrooms were still kind of frozen on the inside, which was pretty gross. This appetizer just didn't resemble anything close to restaurant quality food. Total waste of money. For my entree, I ordered a Veggie Sandwich with fries. I had debated between ordering the Tuna Melt or the Veggie Sandwich, but opted for what I ultimately ordered since veggie sandwiches seem harder to come by at restaurants. The sandwich was quite good since the wheat bread was soft and the veggies were fresh. My only complaint is that they were skimpy with the cucumber since there were only two cucumber rounds in the whole sandwich, one for each half of the sandwich. The fries were a notch below average. Our waiter was pretty nice and provided good service. read more

I've passed by this place for YEARS!! I stopped by nation's up the street and realized it was closed down (They moved). It was just then that I somehow remembered this place. I always wanted to try it but never really popped into my head when I was hungry and in the area. I came in and had a seat right away. The first table I sat at didn't work for me (Guy behind me ordered the liver and onions plate, I cant stand that smell). Im glad only because I was able to move to a window seat and the brightness just had a better vibe than the table I originally sat at, plus I got fresh air from being so close to the front doors. Anyway, I ordered a Be Bopper with Beer Battered Onion Rings. I really enjoyed my burger and the onion rings. The bread they used for the burger was really good, but the thick generous bacon was what did it for me. The onion rings were slightly over done, but to be honest, Im that guy that likes my fries/onion rings extra crispy so this didn't bother me one bit. My only regret was not ordering a shake to go with my meal. I wasn't thinking strait from being hungry and honestly, the one thing you always order at a 50's diner is a milk shake and I failed to meet this tradition..lol Service was also really good, prompt service and my drink never went dry. For sure I will be back again, I have to make things right and order a milk shake!! read more

I have been dining at Classic Diner for years. I always liked their breakfast items and tried some of their lunch items as well. Unfortunately, I rarely tried their dinner items when it was open until 9 pm back then. My most recent visit, in which I found out changed their hours, was I had the "Gilroy Burger", which is the standard cheeseburger with lightly sauteed garlic bits below their house made bun. It was good, but I kinda expected the burger patty to have the garlic incorporated in the patty itself. If I happen to be around the area, I would come back, just to have their breakfast stuff. Too bad they are no longer open for dinner. read more

This place is only a few minutes away from my boyfriends place, thought I'd give it a try. The cheeseburger I got tasted like a frozen patty. It was soggy, and the consistency threw me off. If you're looking for a fuss-free breakfast/brunch place, this is the place to go! Their service is quick, their portions are large, and the place itself is spacious. On a random Saturday morning, my boyfriend and I decided to go to a breakfast spot we've never been to. We found the "Classic Diner," loved the name, and decided to give it a go! They had amazing hearty breakfast burritos and a good standard Denver omelette. Their potatoes were well-done (just how I like) and their hash brown wasn't too bland. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of waiting for days and getting skimped with tiny portions ;) read more

Its all in the Name of the Restaruant. They are a Classic Diner (50s). I may not have been around in the 50s but in my travels I've been to many "50s Diners" and this one fits the stereotype. The seats are a plastic type material that sparkles. The walls are covered with Movie memorability, Pictures of the past, and all the fun nostalgic items you expect. (Elvis greets you at the door) When I first walked in I was greeted warmly and quickly. Servers were attentive and respectful. They checked on me to see if I was ready but not in a bugging manner or too often. Since its my first time here I decided to try the Sampler and boy was I in for a treat. The Sampler is 2 strips of Bacon, 2 eggs, 1 sausage patty, country potatoes and toast. Also it comes with a choice of buttermilk pancakes, French toast or a waffle. HOLY FOOD Batman, It came out on two plates. I couldn't take a picture of all the items together I had to take one of each plate. There was nothing special about the food items themselves. They were standard diner breakfast food but they were cooked properly and tasted as I expected. Conclusion: I'll be back! Hope to see you there. read more

If you want to eat at a place that has good quality and a big enough portion to either share or take home for leftovers then this is the place to go. There were some notable things that we stumbled across in our dining experience. I had noticed that one of the utensils wasn't washed properly so there was a dried up piece of vegetable or something stuck on it. Also I requested my burger to be cooked medium but when I received my order, it was more so well done with no pink in the middle. One of the two pork chop was cooked great, while the other was a little dry and chewy. Regardless, these were things that didn't warrant calling over a server. The thing that mainly put a stain for our restaurant outing at Skillet'z was the service. Upon walking in we were not greeted with a friendly welcoming and when seated they quickly walked away. The lady who took our order did not even look like she wanted to be there, granted I understand that nobody really enjoys having to go to work but if you need to interact with customers, maybe this isn't the occupation for you. While we were eating there was not a single time that anyone came up to us to ask us how we were doing, if we needed anything, or how the food was. There was a moment where it was someone's birthday at another table and I don't think I've ever heard a more unenthusiastic and monotone announcement for a birthday and a lame excuse for a birthday song. They're not going to bother with dropping off a check/bill for the meal so you need to go up to the counter to pay for the food. Once you step up to the counter keep in mind that more than likely you will encounter a rude interaction and a feeling that you were inconveniencing them. Overall I'll more than likely eat from here again, primarily for the food. But maybe next time we'll consider just taking out to go.

I really like this place, but the atmosphere varies form day to day, sometimes I take my family and it's a great sit down, other times the other customers almost seem offended that you are at "their" restaurant.
