My kind of food, nice and simple. Only 4 base dishes on the menu and you customize it as a wrap, bowl or salad with good variety of toppings and sides. This is my new favorite place. The food was / is amazing. I had the Gyro salad bowl with a side of Hummus,Garlic Feta fries, and Baklava. The Baklava was better than any I've ever had...Hummus was Heavenly...Gyro Salad was Supreme and the Garlic Feta Fries were FANTASTIC! Ordinarily, I would pick out one thing to recommend but in this case I can honestly say that EVERYTHING WAS/IS. GREAT!! (Oh and THANK YOU RILEY!!Service with a smile! She answered my questions (it was my first time there) and was on point with her salad dressing recommendation. Riley loves her job and that was evident today. What a disappointment. I waited to try Pita Fresh because I know the typical Ridgecrest rush to new restaurants. Give it a few weeks to work out the bumps, it's usually service stuff and that's ok. The issue isn't the service. The young staff was actually quite pleasant and attentive, maybe over selling the add on's a bit too much, but whatever. The failure here is the food. Out of the 4 people that dined together only one thought their meat was any good, which was the gyro meat. The others of chicken shawarma and steak shawarma were a sad imitation of anything that should be called shawarma. There was no flavor, besides being dry as could be. Either the spit that it is being cooked on is too high to begin with or they are cooking the snot out of it and letting it dry out, because the pan it was taken from was dry also. Either way, make sure you check the food regularly before serving it. The other items were fair, not even average. Couscous was gummy. Hummus, though creamy lacked any kind of defining flavor. Eggplant dip was just that, it certainly was not baba ghanoush. Sauces were mediocre. I passed on the lettuce that first off was iceberg, but more importantly looked old. Use good lettuce people, it doesn't cost that much more. The only items that were decent were pre-made; feta cheese, pepperoncini, olives and tomatoes. Prices are ok. I'd be willing to pay more if they up'ed their game. Honestly there is a food truck in town that makes a better shawarma salad and it's not a Mediterranean restaurant. Pluses: Restaurant was clean as was the bathroom. Sparse decorations, but not so much that it felt sterile. Middle eastern music was being played which fit the food that was supposed to be served. I truly hope that the food is improved. I had hoped with it being separate than the Grape Leaf that it would be better, however it isn't. If I see that the reviews improve I may give it another try, but it will be a while before that happens. read more

It may have been a 4 stars, but the 5th one is just for being open on the Labor Day after 5 of us chanced upon this place driving all the way from Death Valley, hungry, tired and having called a dozen places to see if they were open. The staff was serving with a smile and the ambience was chic with beautiful outdoors seating as well. We mostly went for falafel with couscous/rice/salad bowls and loved the freshness of the ingredients. The baba ganoush / eggplant dip was smoky tasty and the cilantro jalapeno mix add such a punch to the already perfect hummus. Chicken shawarma was a bit underwhelming to be honest but we were very glad for the freshly fried falafels. Parking is easy in the lot. read more

TOO INCONSISTENT. I have had perfect meals here. Delicious, moist, flame broiled chicken kebabs, with fluffy white garlic sauce, moist rice pilaf and spicy jalapeno hummus. But I have also had overcooked kebabs that had a bitter char on the outside and were completely dried out. I've also had garlic sauce that was made from garlic that had sprouted, making the garlic sauce bitter. And today, the garlic sauce was like a yellow, watery soup rather than a mayonnaise-like garlic emulsion. And today instead of rice pilaf, they gave me dried out white rice. Today the pita bread was perfect. But some days the pita bread is dried out and stale. It's always a crap shoot with Pita Fresh. I've literally had some of the best meals in Ridgecrest there. But today it was overcooked again and not very tasty. And they have raised the prices on all of their entrees. $13 for chicken kebabs at a fast food place with poor quality control? I'm done with Pita Fresh for a good long while. read more

There was a lot of anticipation and expectation for this place. Unfortunately, it fell short for me. The food lacks that punch of flavor that is so much a part of Mediterranean food. I personally had the shwarma bowl with couscous. The meat lacked flavor other than a standard grill taste. The couscous was on the dry side and the vegetables just couldn't make up for the lack of spice and flavor in the meat. The presentation of the food could definitely do with improvements. The crew simply piled my choices on top of one another in a bowl, leaving the whole thing a bit unappetizing. A plate with separation wouldn't hurt. On a positive note, the babaganoush (eggplant dip) was good as was the hummus. The pitas could be heated up or grilled to give a more "homemade" appeal. The baklava needs more honey. It was on the dry side and way too flaky, even as far as baklavas go. There is still plenty of room (and time) for improvement. The items are there, they just need a kick of flavor and better presentation. The prices are spot on for a lunch joint near the base. I'm hoping my next visit will yield better results! read more

This was terrible. They only gave us two items out of five. Additionally, the items they did give were not what we ordered. There were no other customers, so it wasn't a confusion with another order. There is no excuse for this terrible service. The workers here have a lack of work ethic. They don't know how to listen, have patience, or perform their job correctly. Since my husband and I are on a mostly plant based diet, we were delighted to find that we could load up on veggies, rice, and couscous, falafel and a yummy garlic sauce in a bowl for around $8. My husband got the artichoke dip, which has a very strong taste, so use caution until you've tasted it. The falafels were nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also indulged in the baklava, since it is made with cashews instead of walnuts (I'm allergic to walnuts) and found it to be a nice end to the meal. It's not as sticky as some baklava I've had, but I enjoyed it. The decor is a mix of modern and rustic, with two areas of seating, and it was nice and cool inside. I do wish they would have slightly reduced price for the bowls if you're not having meat in it, like Sunset Poke does. Overall, it's a good option if you're looking to eat healthy. read more
