Love their bacon avocado burgers, actually any burger. Flat out the best place for a burger in town. They have an eat-in place as well as an outdoor sitting area, although to be frank, I've never seen anyone sitting outside. You can also order outside through a little window they have there so you don't have to go inside (even though it's only like 6 ft away lol). What I love the most about this place are the fries. They are always perfect. Nice and crispy. They also had seasoned salt, not just salt, which gives them a better flavor. Chili cheese fries are also delicious. Other items I've had there are the breakfast burritos and their carne asada tacos (which are huge). The pricing is decent and the food is great. What more can you ask for, you get quantity and quality. They also have Horchata and Orange Bang if you want that instead of soda. If you are in the area, I'd say give it a go. read more

Sometimes just crave a classic charbroiled cheeseburger done right. Something the major fast food chains can't seem to do. Found my new go-to spot for it. Fries were perfectly crispy, too. Disappointed after a long time 30 year customer. New Management not the same food preparation. New employees need to be trained to do what's been done for so long for long time customers Old and New. I won't be going there unless a long time employee is making the 2 breakfast burritos I buy every Saturday, got burritos this morning, cheese missing, hardly no potatoes, etc. Not even close to what has been done prior, not worth the 12$ a piece price, will make at home in the future unless and that's maybe if a long time, (25 years plus cook) is making my food. Awful!!! My brother comes berry often and is quite fond of this place. Our usual order is 2 steak sandwich combos. Every single time we get the same thing. Today I was charged $43.87 for 3 steak sandwiches and a burger. While looking at the receipt I noticed I was charged $8.40 for 3 (three) drinks. We get to our destination and realize we did not get the combos. That's when I looked at the receipt. And saw that we were charged more than the combo Seoul's have cost us. I drive all the way back to get my fries (we got one of 4) and the woman who took the order fought with me about it. For nearly 5 minutes. Saying we were wrong. After the battle of words she finally gave us our fries. Ridiculous customer service!!! We will not be returning again! Did I mention I drove 15 miles to get this food!!!! read more

I went in last week to get some breakfast and I ordered a pancake combo for the first time and I got my food and went on with my week, but where the problem starts is when I went back in today for the same combo and I was charged the same but was given a lot more food I didn't understand why so I went on to question the lady at the front and she said "no this is how it comes and we wouldn't have given you less food" basically calling me a liar and laughing in my face. To make matters worse, as you pull up you'll notice...NO DRIVE THRU! But that's part of the allure...the danger - How bad do you really want those chili fries? I was pretty hungry. I slide up in there and order the measuring stick for any burger joint: a double cheeseburger and french fries. As I sat down to wait for my food I noticed music playing in the background and a familiar song, the "Wrong Way" by Sublime. I think Annie was actually sitting in the restaurant that night, except now she's 300 lbs. and has six kids. After a reasonable wait, my food was ready. I was very pleased that the fries were cooked perfectly, not too crisp, not too soggy. They were covered with seasoning salt, like other comparable burger joints, which is a nice touch. The burger was pretty tasty and the first thing I noticed was that the bun was very fresh. The charbroiled beef patty and cheese had a lot flavor, but what really stood out were the burger's toppings. Shredded lettuce, fresh tomato (wasn't mushy at all), chopped onions and mayo. There was something mixed in with the lettuce and mayo that gave the burger a special zing. I'm not sure what it was, but it tasted kind of like Italian dressing. Whatever it was, it was good and different. All in all, Spiro's is a cut above the standard "char-burger" joints out there. Ghetto restaurant in a ghetto part of town. But hey, we can all use some good, cheap food that fills our stomachs but makes us regret it a few hours later. There is a walk-up counter on the outside for those not wanting to step inside. There is also some outdoor seating with an awning to provide shade which is a plus. The inside of the restaurant is a bit dingy and old with booth seating and outdated chandeliers from the '70s. Most of the signs are hand-written and misspelled. And oh, when I was there, a handwritten sign on a door stated that the bathroom was not for use. Wonderful. The breakfast special is a good deal for $3.99 (pancakes, eggs, sausage, and bacon). Just don't expect the food to be out of this world. However, if you're hungry and not picky about the taste, than it's an excellent choice. This is one of those joints that has that Mom and Pop kind of feel. The workers here are pretty friendly and it feels like They are My neighbors who decided to open up a burger place next door. It's a quaint little place that is one of those little gold mines You find at random, especially if You aren't from the area. The food isn't bad at all and they don't try to skimp You out of it - the portions are more than generous. The prices are well worth it. Definately recommended if You are visiting the USS IOWA Museum and don't want to wait up to an hour trying to get Seafood nearby. Id recommend go earlier for that. Spiro's is cash only, which I'm not opposed to except for the fact that there are almost always solicitors outside of their establishment. Considering that my go-to excuse is "sorry, I only have a credit card", Spiro's cash only policy tends to mess it up for me. Chili cheese fries are still worth it though. read more
