Very underwhelming. My boyfriend and I had visited the Manhattan location the previous week and were happy to see that they had a location closer to use in Brooklyn. HORRID! What bugged me the most was the crab legs and shrimp did not have time to soak in the sauce, which took away from the experience. Most of the crab legs had no sauce on it at all. We ordered the garlic butter sauce and it was just okay. Nothing to call home about. There was a DJ playing really good throwback R&B and Rap. It made me feel like I was at a family function, which made the experience in the restaurant better. The music was loud which made it hard for my partner and I to converse. The grilled oysters were really good and were 1.50 each at Happy Hour . I got the adult Capri Sun drink and that also was just okay. My friend had mentioned that hers was really strong so maybe I just chose the wrong flavor. Nothing here stood out also I think it would be nice to mention the market price of some items and it was our fault we didn't really ask (SO MAKE SURE YOU ASK!). We paid $39 for a pound of king crab legs which in reality is like four piece of chopped up leg. The shrimp had the head on them still so if your weird about things like that then this may not be the place for you. Worth every penny. I took my dad here for father's day and this restaurant did not disappoint. We ordered three different types of meat: the crawfish, shrimp, and crab legs with a variety of sauces. I must admit that my favorite of the bunch was the shrimp because we got it in garlic sauce and the sauce was delicious. I honestly shoved everything else on my plate into that sauce because I liked it so much. The crab legs were very meaty but a little hard to pry open. We got them in cajun seasoning (which I'm assuming is just Old Bay)... and the sauce was delicious. The only thing I didn't love was the crawfish. It was way too difficult to eat and honestly doesn't have very much to offer in terms of meatiness. It's also really messy because it's very gooey inside and that liquid gets everywhere when you crack it. I'd definitely SKIP the crawfish. I went to the boil a few weeks ago and someone suggested I try this place out and the opportunity presented itself. I have to stay in trying not to compre it to the boil but it's so hard not to. I ordered the shrimp with crabs with claw daddy special sauce spicy and Brussels. I was not impressed by the Brussels, I nibbled at it and one of the people I was with asked at the end if I liked it, it was okay. The seafood wasn't hot it was a little below room temperature or tasted like it had been sitting out. The seasoning was not like infused to the seafood so you really had to mix it in and even then it wasn't mixed it well or you didn't get the full flavoring. One win is that it's not a cash only restaurant. My waiter was Chantelle and she was so flexible with the billing at the restaurant. It's a great place for large parties because it's easy to split the bill and it's not all on one person. The music was really good. The vibe and atmosphere was better then the food. I probably would not return, I am running back or the boil. Their Brussels was amazing, someone refills your water continuously their and empty your shells a bit more frequently at the Boil. Much like a mojito made with soju. Not bad at all. 10 minutes or so goes by and finally the waitress arrives.... she was either tired or simply sour. She was completely disinterested in doing anything. I asked for the combo of seasoning choices, she pretends to ask the next waiter, then refuses. We ordered. The My friend got crabcakes to start, later, she ordered deviled eggs and chicken sliders.I got the snow crab and shrimp with butter garlic seasoning (which is supposed to contain the original cajun). We wait. Crabcakes came (not bad, just a tad salty). Deviled eggs arrived, same verdict. Next came the boil and strange looking pieces of fried-ness via a runner. Greenish gray and stiff. Eww. The entire claw was rotten and ended up in the bucket. The shrimp are heads on, no prob... but the were not even close to being "cleaned". Upon closer inspection, neither were the crabs. Green gunk everywhere! I was disgusted. Inspected the rest and threw in the towel. I washed my hands and waited 20 more minutes for the bill then noticed the server had changed and was leaving! Another server appeared eventually and I finally requested a manager. My friend got a to go container for the sliders. I explained the food situation minus the rude server. I didnt know whether she had a bad day or what. His response was something to the tine of that's how it's done. Hello? This isn't the only boil joint in NYC or even the Slope! Then he says all crablegs are precooked! No apologies for the rottenness, no adjustments for leaving the majority of my order picked over and disgarded. When I brought up the fact I cook them at home and the other small chain I frequent has a completely different process, he accused them of using msg, lol! Then invited me to visit the other location in the LES. What??? Mind you the other place only uses fresh crushed herbs and spices with real butter! 20 minutes later, still waiting for the bill when it arrived full price. I quietly paid and thought about all this mess. The friendly bartender came back from lunch and I told her the short version and over tipped her directly. She was horrified and rushed to talk to the manager who in turn sent two shots. My friend left hers (I was allergic, so i was given a plain one). I took some of my money back in time.... sitting at the table waiting out the weather. I was completely checked out. I wanted to give this place all the stars but the response to the issues I encountered were a bit too little too late. I am the customer who comes and just wants to have a decent dinner and go. I was here for my anniversary and made a reservation to sit outside. To our dismay there were two mice running around behind us! I understand that we're outside and it's hard to control the environment but I was unhappy with the response we received from the staff. They basically just shrugged it off until I continued to ask what can be done. The manager offered to sit us at the bar but that is not ideal on a dinner date. We finally had to ask for a complimentary something for our troubles which should have been offered on their end. Next, our waiter disappeared after we ordered apps and never came back to take our drink/food order. The manager had to replace him as our waiter. Our seafood boil order was also wrong when we got it and it had to be redone. Finally the shrimp was dirty and when I pointed it out to the manager he said that it's just the veins. Great place to eat. I brought my wife here for our anniversary. It's her favorite restaurant in the entire world. We live in CT. So I had to get us a hotel as they were not allowing dine in eating. I reserved and paid for our food a month prior online. We drive from CT. go pick up our food and drive back to the hotel. When we get there the order is all wrong. I was disappointed and my wife was even more so. I called the manager and explained the situation to him. Without hesitation he offered to rectify the error with either of 2 options. 1. We can keep the food they gave us and he'd refund our purchase. 2. We can keep the food they gave us and come back and get the correct order as well. We chose option 2. Not only did they give us our correct order, on top of the food they had already given us, but the manager threw in 4-5 sample dishes as well! I'm hooked, line and sinker. We tucked into 4 lbs of shrimp and 1 lb of clams between a quartet (the shrimp is the best bang for your buck - they're jumbo sized and hold a lot of sauce and flavor). A convenient location in heart of downtown Brooklyn to get some good seafood. I was lucky to attend an event and try some of the goodies. The drinks were STRONG and the food was tasty. Lemon Pepper is my favorite but even mild has quite a kick. Claw Daddy sauce is way too salty for me. The garlic butter will leave you smelling like garlic all night (avoid for date night haha). My favorite is the king crab legs (meaty and easy to crack with the scissors and tools). Shrimp is filling and clams can be skipped unless you love them. They give you bibs and gloves to avoid a hot mess. Happy hour specials include draft beer, adult caprisun, and not to be missed grilled oysters. Wings are ok, kind of dry.
