Was in the mood for some crawfish and was in the area of Cerritos today. Decided to try this place for the first time with daughter. Honestly, it's a nice location, looks clean, and there is decent parking. Secondly the service horrible, it seems as if staff is bias against non Asian customers. Once we ordered off the menu we noticed three other customers that arrived after us received their food before us (they were all Asian) and our waitress kept telling us "I'm sorry but the kitchen is busy today). Normally I would understand if a kitchen is busy and I need to wait for my order, but when customers who arrived after you are being served before you that really set off red flags. Even when we finished our meal staff was servicing others and we waited almost 25 minutes to receive our change. I also firmly believe the manager was also bias, I say this because I had another staff member (Joseph) slip him a note letting him know about the service they provided and how they lost a customer today. He dismissed the note and continued to mix drinks in the back of the restaurant oblivious to how his customer was being treated. I'm an ethical person and I have never been discriminatory against any other race and today I felt like a black sheep. If you wish to know our waitresses name, it's Christy. She is not only unprofessional but racist and disrespectful with no customer service skills what so ever (I did not get a refill on my soda till our meal was just about finished. As for the food is concerned, it's actually pretty good. The appetizers are good, I really loved the wings and peas on the pod. The crawfish were surprisingly good given the fact they were the frozen selection and not the live catch. However the clams and mussels were too small and many of them were just empty shells. I don't really like anything but boiling crab, but ever since I moved to NYC I've been craving some Cajun shrimp. I didn't want to wait in a 2 hour line for BC so I came here instead. Great decision! The fries were comparable to BC (this is very important) and the shrimps were actually bigger and juicier. I got the cannonball spicy which was actually pretty spicy, Cajun fries, and a lagunitas IPA. Amazing combo. read more

Waited over an hour for a party of 8 last night. In my mind I was thinking it's so worth the wait after enjoying a great meal when they first opened. Man, was I wrong! Paid extra for live crawfish- 3 lbs of teeny tiny ones that I've never had before. Literally the size of a dime when peeled. 2lbs of peeled shrimp which were a good size. They forgot our sausages and corns. I'm usually a big tipper but didn't pay extra tip on top of the 18% they added. Very disappointed with the food. Not worth the wait. read more

For the sake of convenience I visited Claws with the intention to satisfy my fix for some of that delicious cajun crawfish. I usually make that drive from Long Beach to Garden Grove for The Boiling Crab Whole Shebang or Kickin Crab, but for the sake of time and convenience I decided to visit the new Claws located in Cerritos. The review is merely on the taste of the food and not the service. I have to be fair, I ordered the food for pick up. Since we are on the subject of pick up - I would recommend blocking off that first parking spot for a pick up/delivery parking only. Back to the taste, I was not impressed it was okay in my opinion - I thought it lacked that 'umph' (my word) of a savory flavor. My palate might be off, but I believe that there is tumeric in the seasoning which threw me off. Every restaurant has that niche that keeps people from returning, but if it was not for the close proximity I do not think I would return. read more

I was so sad when their Garden Grove location closed down but I'm really glad that they this location is now open !! They have really good appetizers !! The wings and the loaded garlic friends are my favorite !! And they don't charge for butter lime salt and pepper unlike other places! I also like how they have variety of drinks. I really like peach and mango ice tea! Their shrimp size are really good too! Pretty big and easy to peel! Will definitely come back !! I've been here more than 10 times, and this time it let me down. Reason why, is because they didn't have enough highchairs and my son had to be carried . Didn't get to enjoy my food due to not getting a high chair. 2nd reason is because the shrimp were overcooked this time, they were so hard to peel. You would peel the shrimp and they would come apart. Hopefully next time they don't let us down. 5 stars for this place but today they receive 4. read more

****if you're planning on celebrating someone's birthday here, DON'T do it!**** My family and fiancés family went to this restaurant on a Tuesday afternoon to celebrate my fiancés birthday. This restaurant is located in a plaza where there are several restaurants including an 85 degrees (which I thought was perfect so that i could buy a cake for my fiancé). So that was exactly what I did. While my family and his family were being seated, I bought a cake and decided to take it in the restaurant. After ordering, I noticed that the menu said they would charge a dollar per person for cake fee. So, I asked one of the servers if it was okay to eat the cake. She said, if we were to eat the cake, they would have to charge us $1 per person (I think this policy is stupid). Since we were a large party, I didn't want to pay an additonal charge since the service fee was already included in our bill and it wouldn't make sense to pay the cake fee since I freakin bought the cake!!! So, I politely asked if it was possible for us just to sing, and for the birthday boy to blow out the candles (we weren't going to eat the cake anymore). But she said, as soon as the cake box was opened, she was going to charge us for the cake fee whether or not we ate the cake. And I thought this was ridiculous! She wasn't even polite about it!! Save your money and go celebrate somewhere else! Never again claws! You just lost a group of customers! We are never coming back! Nor are we recommending this place to anyone! I've been so heartbroken since their Garden Grove location closed, so I was happy to see that the Cerritos location finally opened! Me and my fiance came in on a weekday afternoon hoping to enjoy the happy hour that they had in Garden Grove. I didn't see a happy hour menu and the waitress said they didn't have it there! Major bummer. But the food was great. I also saw a few familiar faces from Garden Grove, which was nice. Cannonball or Cajun seasoning is the way to go. Medium heat level is good in my opinion as well. It doesn't overpower the flavors of the seafood. Cajun fries are also a MUST. Overall, great food and great service! read more

I give the food 4 stars. The appetizers were not that great, aside from the cajun fries that were pretty good. They messed up our order and kept us waiting, but made up for it in free wings and ice cream. The crawfish was probably the freshest I've had anywhere else. The first and only place that I was able to suck the tail out in one piece, no peeling! The shrimp were plump too. The clams were small and not worth it. Sauce was very thick and flavorful, but it didn't spread well to the ones on top. The ones on the bottom that were soaked were spicy and delicious. All in all I wouldn't return just because the combo for 3 of us came out to $80! If it weren't for the free sides we still would have been hungry. the ambiance is very similar to boiling crab, but i went for dinner on a week night and it was almost empty. the parking lot can be crazy on weekends because there are a lot of restaurants in that plaza. service was excellent. the waitress was very attentive and friendly, refilled our water every 10 minutes, asked how things were etc. we ordered a dozen oysters to start - bad idea. half of them were luke warm and smelled bad. i was really afraid i was going to get food poisoning from eating them, but thankfully i was fine. i'm never ordering oysters from here again though. we got a pound of shrimp with everything sauce, mild. the sauce was tasty with plenty of chopped garlic, and the mild was surprisingly spicy. the taste of the sauce was very close to boiling crab, unlike a lot of other boiling crab imitations, this place had it down. also got fried catfish and cajon fries. the fries were very good, the catfish had a really thick crust, and was soft inside. also very good. lastly, the gumbo was excellent. chunks of crabs in a well seasoned soup served with a side of rice. overall, good service and cajon food, just be warned about the oysters. read more

I would never eat here again. Food is horrible. The service is worse!!!!! Food arrives in a plastic bag!!!! Aren't plastic bags outlawed in CA?? Manger said he would have reduced my bill more if he had been informed; HE WAS INFORMED BY THE HOSTESS.... another LIE!!!! Cheap #@$#@ manager reduced bill by removing fish and chips. Guess it's ok but now I have to go home and go to sleep and not enjoy my weekend...sneeze and struggle breathing. I've seen people receive a complementary meal for much less, like their food was late or not cooked properly. I was not looking for a free meal, I was in search of a good meal that wouldn't kill me! The host was rude yesterday. i was told the wait was 1 hour to 1 1/2. i left the restaurant for awhile. When i came back to check for updates..i asked the host if i could take a look at the wait list to see where i was so i could estimate the wait time myself. She didnt let me see the wait list and slapped me back by saying "i told you before the wait 1 - 1/12 hr, you were gone for 20 mins, so it's about 1 hr - 1 hr 20 min" seriously? my phone was out of battery so i couldnt estimate the time..you know how people go in and out of the restaurant, i couldnt tell tell if a lot of people left while i was gone....all i wanted was to see the wait list or the answer...just give time the time "1 hr - 1 hr 20min...she shouldnt have said "i told you.....blah blah" i would never go back to this place again...the sauce was a bit salty this time. Very small location!Went here on a Friday night to celebrate a birthday and waited 2 hours to accommodate 20 people-no big deal we had a large party-WORST experience ever...had 3 extra family members and a newborn show up so we needed extra seating and the MANAGER was not willing to accommodate the rest of my party because "we only reserved for 20" and we would have to wait and extra hour! REDICULOUS! So my family stood around an hour, we could not order food nor enjoy our celebration! I thought this was very horrible of such a great restaurant and reputation to act in such a manner! I spoke with the manager personally and he said "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT YOU CAN LEAVE"! Really...who says then when we are spending over $500 in food! After waiting 3 hours for seating I was not leaving! Servers are great here so nice and friendly...MANAGEMENT SUCKS!!!
