I seen a lot of great reviews on this place and decided to check it out with a friend. In my head I imagined it would be the best cheese steak I would ever have, maybe that why it fell short. I ordered the block, the parm garlic fries. A Guinness float, and a cookies and cream shake. Let me start with the great. The Guinness float never had that and I love stouts although it did have a slight lingering bitter taste from the stout I really enjoyed this and my friends cookies and cream shake was also super good. The fries were both also a plus, I know it's a little difficult to melt Parmesan cheese but it can be done and I think if it was this would have made it over the top. Three and a half stars. I wanted to try this place since it has drink & food options. I had the cheesesteak with provolone and mushrooms. I sat at the bar and also had an old fashioned. The service was great, fast & friendly. The cheesesteak though was ok... the bread was dry. It was like they opened a roll of bread, didn't heat it & added the other ingredients. At 2:57pm on 11/21/21, I placed an order worth almost $90 after tip (see below image). I then called and added sweet potato fries. At 5:21pm I called the store checking on my order. I understood that things were probably busy and was fine with waiting, but just wanted to check on the order. The store manager on duty claimed that the driver had tried calling me but nobody answered. I explained that my phone had been in my hand for hours and that I had zero record of anybody attempting to call me. He claimed that he personally had tried calling me - I again told him that I have literally zero record of any call attempts. He told me that he could send me the food that had been sitting out for two hours but refused to send me any new food. I told him I wanted a refund, and he said that he would send an email so that I could request one. He insisted that he could not refund me personally and that this was the only option. After twenty minutes, I still hadn't received an email, so I called back and asked to speak to the manager. He kept saying he could not send me new food or a refund. I asked again for him to just resend the food - I insisted that I had been holding my phone and had no evidence of a call. He told me that it was not his problem that I did not receive the call. Eventually, he said, AND I QUOTE, "As far as I'm concerned, fuck your food, and go fuck yourself" and hung up on me. I tried calling again, and when someone picked up, I asked for the name of the manager. The person on the phone absolutely refused to provide the name of the manager. I told him the manager told me to fuck myself, and the person on the phone denied it happened and just kept offering me this email address. When I asked for the contact information of the owner, I was just given the email address for refunds all over again. This is beyond unacceptable. I was a huge fan of your store - I ordered there very regularly and recommended the store to everyone I knew. Now I have been screwed out of an almost $100 order and the store manager straight up told me to go fuck myself. I wanted my money back, and I want to speak to the owner of the store. This is beyond unacceptable behavior. For an order of that size, I expect to not simply be blown off and told to fuck myself. At the very least, the manager on duty could have offered to send me new food. Instead he treated me as poorly as he possibly could and just stole my money. I'm really not someone to complain about a busy store or a long wait - I understand that I ordered food on football Sunday and after a marathon. If I had just been told the store was busy I would have understood and just been fine with waiting. But the behavior of the manager was beyond the pale - lying to me about what happened, trying to pawn 2 hour old food off on me, and literally telling me to fuck myself - it is just beyond absurd. I used to genuinely love Cleavers - the food is incredible, the delivery is generally very speedy, and I usually recommend it to everybody. I'm genuinely very disappointed tonight. Update: I sent the exact wording of this review to the customer service address for Cleavers, and the owner responded. It is absolutely bizarre to me how much the owner is doubling down on this. I even provided him with screenshots of my call logs showing that I never received a call from any delivery driver. Rather than admit that they screwed up and that the manager who cursed me out did anything wrong, he blames me, blames the pandemic, blames inflation, and then goes on a weird tangent about how he thinks people are just too lazy to "get off the couch and work", as if that justifies me being called a liar and told to fuck off when I said that I never received an almost $100 order of food. read more

You really cannot go wrong with a cheesesteak...hot tip, the cherry pepper relish takes this meal to the next level...if you enjoy heat, make sure you get it! If I get a cheesesteak, I also make sure to get the cherry pepper relish and I also really like the white cheddar sauce. Another menu item I really enjoy is the chicken cutlet Caesar sandwich. I get it on either a seeded roll or a in a wrap, depending on what I'm feeling, both ways are awesome. I do tend to add some extra Caesar dressing, but that's because I love a saucy Caesar. The loaded fries, mozzarella moons, fried spicy green beans, and steak egg rolls are always in our rotation, you can't get cleavers without one of their appetizers/sides! These cheesesteaks rival any I've had in the almost thirty years I've lived in Philly. Fresh roll, high quality meat and lots of options. The chicken cheesesteak was packed with grilled chicken, the roll was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and the waffle fries were perfection. But honestly, if you ask me, the fried pickles were the star of the night. (If you ask her, it would be the, "birthday cake shake". ) This is a sweet spot. Wife ordered this as her first Philly cheesesteak and what can I say...she hasn't lived well. We corrected this with a visit to Cleavers and it was a delicious lunch... Tons better than the ones I've had from the places we all know. Delicious sandwich and def worth a trip. Wow where to begin... I ventured into Cleavers a few weeks ago for lunch with some coworkers. I looked up their menu online beforehand and all the specialty and customizable cheesesteaks had me drooling in the office. I had to relax though...was still a few more hours until lunch time. When we got to Cleaver's I was really impressed by the inside of the restaurant. There was an initial room where you can order a steak and take it to go. However, we were seated in the adjacent room that had a large bar for seating and drinking and then a few tables in the back. All 5 of us were seated at a table and greeted by the waitress. I was told by my coworkers who frequently visited the spot in years past that ther is also an upstairs room for additional seating. When I first got the menu I was deciding between the BBQ Cheesesteak and the Chicken Ceasar. I figured I was at Cleaver's CHEESESTEAKS so I had to get a BBQ steak. It came with onion rings and bacon on it too. Wow it was so good and it was actually pretty tough to finish it all but I made sure I threw it all down the hatch. We had a few other different cheesesteaks ordered at the table and they all looked great. We also included some waffle and fire fries - both great additions to the steaks. Now one thing I would recommend is to eat all this food closer to the end of the work day rather than in the middle. I did go into a bit of an afternoon lull based on the BBQ steak & fire fries combo but I think all that energy from the food kicked in later that night. I'll definitely be back sometime soon. In Philly for a day from Texas, and wanted to try a Philly cheesesteak in Philly. Cleavers was recommended to us by a relative. We tried the Cleaver and the Block and both hit the spot! I think I preferred the Cleaver which had cheese whiz. After reading reviews about parking (there isn't any) we walked to the restaurant from the Franklin Institute in 90degree weather, and we weren't able to sit inside. We had my 6month old with us, and when we arrived, we were told that upstairs had too many people, however I don't actually recall anyone going or leaving upstairs, and there was a chain blocking the stairs... I could be wrong, but not sure why that was closed off. We ended up sitting outside in the shade and it made for an OK dining experience - Ill have to knock off a star. If your walking to the restaurant and looking for a break from the sun, be cautious! Other than that, terrific cheesesteak that I would even come back for!
