For appetizers, we had the Grilled Halloumi, and with this being my first time trying it, I'm incredibly upset I didn't have it sooner lol. It had the perfect grilled exterior with a salty, cheesy bite that paired amazing with the fresh cut tomatos and green salad. For entrees, we had to order the Grilled Octopus, which was cooked perfectly and served over an eggplant purée, adding a really unique flavor profile to the dish. The Lobster Pasta was rich and creamy while the grilled lobster tail added a smoky flavor that elevated the entire dish. The Baby Lamb Chops Rack were tender, flavorful, and right up my alley. We also did a side of Mashed Potatoes because honestly, they're a classic for a reason and pair really well with the Lamb Chops. To finish everything off, we had the popular Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Skillet. It was warm, gooey, and packed with flavor, but what really surprised me were the subtle hints of orange and a touch of mint that made each bite feel a little more elevated than a typical cookie skillet. I was charged $8 for a Diet Pepsi and another $8 for each refill, ultimately paying $24 for three watered-down drinks. The menu did not list a price for sodas, and when the bartender offered me a refill, I was never told that each refill would cost another $8. Had I known that, I absolutely would not have ordered another one. What made the situation even more frustrating was how it was handled. When I questioned the bartender about the charge, I was told there was nothing he could do because "that's the way the system is." When I asked to speak with a manager, the bartender rolled his eyes. The manager then proceeded to talk down to me and explain that this is New York City and that $11 is the "usual" price for a soda from the gun, suggesting that I was somehow receiving a discount at $8. I found that response incredibly dismissive and condescending. I've worked in multiple New York City restaurants, clubs, and bars, and I've also stayed at plenty of hotels and dined at hotel restaurants and bars. I understand that prices in NYC can be high. That is not the issue. The issue is transparency and customer service. If a soda is $8 and every refill is another $8, that should be clearly communicated to the customer, especially when there is no price listed on the menu. Customers should not have to discover the cost after the fact. I have no problem paying for something when I know what I'm paying for. What I do have a problem with is feeling misled and then being talked down to when I question the charge. There was a much better way to handle this situation, and unfortunately, the response from both the bartender and manager made an already frustrating experience significantly worse.

Since I mentioned it was a birthday on our OpenTable reservation, the restaurant brought out a complimentary dessert for us to share, complete with a candle and a "Happy Birthday" serenade. That was a very sweet and unexpected touch. I had completely forgotten that I selected the birthday option when making the reservation. All in all, it was a nice dinner, and the staff really did go above and beyond. That being said, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. We primarily chose this restaurant for its location, and while the experience was perfectly pleasant, the final bill was more expensive than I would have liked and the food just wasn't memorable enough to make me want to return.

Service is "professional" though I wouldn't say very friendly and as others have said more transactional. They politely offer you orange juice or grapefruit juice as you sit, not indicating it's almost $10 for a small glass. During our stay in NY we ate at Michelin rated restauarants which were cheaper than this!! If you can get over the prices, the food is actually pretty good. They know how to cook their eggs very and the basic egg can be a tricky thing to get right at some places.

A couple was seated next to us, served, finished their food, paid, and left between the time we got our crab cake and our mains came out. Then the mains were terrible. My wife got steak and eggs. The steak was overcooked (she got a medium when she ordered a medium rare). I got the 2 eggs any way and ordered the eggs as a soft scramble. The eggs were way over hard scrambled and had no salt. The home fries were way too soft on the inside and soggy out the outside. They didn't provide any jam or butter for the toast. The bacon was limp. And they forgot my short stack of pancakes. Our server never checked on us and when I flagged her down about my short stack of pancakes, they didn't come out until near the end of our meal. Even then, the top pancake wasn't fully cooked. The server never checked on us again and I had to find her to ask for our check to pay. It was not a pleasant brunch experience despite the crab cake being good.
