She explained that everything on the menu is locally sourced and the farm sources are listed on a board displayed in the dining room. Truly farm to table! Even the wines are all from NY State. (I was especially happy to see the Wolffer Estate Rose from Long Island on the wine list.) We started with several appetizers: deviled eggs (with pesto, carrots, garlic and duck prosciutto); oven-roasted chicken wings (chili maple glaze and homemade ranch sauce) and local burrata (with herbed breadsticks, basil walnut pesto, aged balsamic and cherry tomatoes). Each app was a flavor explosion that brought smiles all around our tables. The entrees continued hitting all the right notes. Their wood fired meatloaf, made from Hudson Vally beef and stuffed with kale, vegetables, herbs and blue cheese, is unlike any you've ever had and may keep you from ever having meatloaf anywhere else. The wood roasted cod picatta (white wine reduction with asparagus & cherry tomatoes served in a small skillet) was amazingly moist and flavorful. The maple marshmallow s'mores was a decadent way to end our great meal there. The restaurant is deep and narrow, but cozy and welcoming, with staff that is talented and friendly. This charming, cozy restaurant is very narrow, and even though they've made great use of every inch of space, seating is definitely limited. One of the first things I noticed was that many tables were sharing dishes family-style. Personally, I think that's the best way to experience The Marshal. The plates tend to be on the smaller side, so ordering a few dishes to share lets everyone sample more of the menu. The food was excellent. We started with the deviled eggs and the burrata salad, and both were delicious. I ordered the cod, which had incredible flavor, although the portion felt a bit small for the price. My husband had one of the pizzas and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The restaurant was packed during our visit, so the service reflected a busy evening--but in the best way. The staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient. We never felt forgotten, and every time someone stopped by, they made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing worth mentioning is how incredibly close the tables are. They actually have to pull the table out so you can sit down because there's only a few inches between neighboring tables. We definitely became part of the conversations happening on both sides of us! I understand why they've chosen to maximize seating, but if you're looking for an intimate, private dinner, it's something to keep in mind. Overall, we had a wonderful evening. The food, atmosphere, and friendly service far outweighed the tight seating, and we wouldn't hesitate to return the next time we're in New York.

I mentioned it to the chef (who was the waiter), told him that he should have told us. He said the "machine adds the tip automatically ". Also because tourists don't tip, they don't charge automatically during th week. Veryyyy dishonest! We continued not really arguing but still I was still trying to make him understand that he should have told us. He told me that all the restaurants in the neighborhood do the same. Not true! I've been living in Hell's Kitchen for 8.5 years, and go to many restaurants. None of them do. I will not go back. I checked on Google: restaurant can add tip but it must printed on menu and a sign must be displayed in the restaurant. The waiter needs to tell you when you sit down. So be careful about the tip included there and other restaurants, otherwise you will pay tip twice! Not happy.
