Off the main street of downtown Clermont. The Cafe is a cute small family owned place decorated with local artists' art on the walls. We ordered sandwiches: BLT, Pastrami Ruben and an Italian. We each tried them all which were all delicious. For dessert we had Marc's Death by Chocolate and it was amazing. Well, everything was going ok until I asked to split a hot dog between my 5 year old son and 6 year old daughter. They just ate lunch. Owner behind the counter making the food was not happy that we made this request, in fact was very irritated by it . Comments were made to the cashier. I recently moved to the area and saw this quaint little "mom-and-pop" type restaurant (which I love) and thought to try it out. They were the only restaurant opened in the immediate downtown area before 11:00 am. I'm not sure if it is because of Covid-19 or not but who knows. I came in for a good and hearty breakfast with my daughter. We were plenty starved and probably would have inhaled whatever was placed in front of us and was pretty disappointed that they stop selling breakfast so early. The waitress who was attending all the tables was not wearing any personal protective equipment. I'm well aware that it's not mandatory for Lake County but we were wearing masks and we just figured that at the very least employees serving customers would be protecting themselves especially since some staff came up positive recently in other restaurants nearby. The table was sticky and the entire restaurant wreaked of an overflowing grease trap. We tried to stay and actually try it out but we couldn't. The waitress was super sweet and we appreciate that but I doubt that we will be coming again. We got in the car and the smell stuck to our clothes so bad we doused ourselves with body spray and headed home to change. read more

For a New Business wanting to provide service to customers and you call and it says "This person is not receiving calls at this time" and I have tried for 2 months and have explained to Brandi one of the owner's what is going on. She had no concern in the world. I can't call in an order or when they do have a special and it says call to reserve yours before there all gone. Well I can't . So they must have so much business that they don't need mine anymore . I have been going here for 22 years with 3 different owners. Never have I had such a bad experience. I drop a $20 bill ever time I go in there. For them not to want to earn 20.00 from a single person shows me they apparently don't want business or are working on BAD Customer service. I'm not going there any more. I do not recommend them if you want to enjoy a meal. also he uses processed deli meat which is bad for you. read more

On my first visit, I ordered the antipasto salad, and it was the type of salad you might expect at a diner: iceberg lettuce with some sliced deli meat and cheese on top, accompanied by a packet of store-bought dressing. Adequate, but pretty basic. On my second visit, I decided to stick to more traditional diner fare. I ordered the Reuben and was not disappointed. It was hot, delicious, and huge! If you're looking for a leisurely lunch, this is your spot. If you're looking for a quick bite, I recommend ordering ahead and carrying out. The entire operation is run by a husband/wife team, so you're at the mercy of how fast those two people can feed an entire restaurant. If you come during lunch, I would allow for at least an hour from the time you sit down until you pay. The people at the next table will invariably strike up a conversation to help pass the time, which adds to the neighborhood vibe. In a town where chain restaurants reign supreme, it is wonderful to see a local business flourish. Even though the service is on the slow side, the proprietors are the nicest people. I stopped by the cafe today for lunch. It was the first time I had visited. Cozy, homey atmosphere and lots of locals enjoying lunch. They have a daily special and today was a gyro sandwich. It was packed full of tender, sliced meat, just the right amount of onions and oozing with tzaiki sauce. I will go back and try breakfast. We had a terrible breakfast at this restaurant. Very greasy! The bacon was undercooked and limp. The "hash brown" casserole had no resemblance to hash browns and was a greasy tasteless lump. The biscuits were Cisco split, buttered, grilled and greasy! The gravy was greasy and tasteless, the texture of wallpaper paste. I had been on hunt for a place like this since moving to Clermont - finally found our go-to breakfast spot! My husband got the breakfast burrito, and I think it's the best I've ever tried! I split pancakes, eggs and bacon with my son; the pancakes were light and fluffy, so were the eggs. Also tried a great NY style everything bagel. My favorite part is that it's a locally-owned and run cafe that sells local art. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a local feel and great food. Marc's cooking is something I will travel an hour to enjoy and it is complimented with Brandi's prompt and inviting service! She is quick and doesn't miss a beat! Was exited to try this cafe while shopping in Downtown Clermont. There was only one other table dining when we walked in, and they were finishing up their meal, so we figured it would be quick to get served. It took over half an hour to get our food... It was very good but the prices are high for what you get. That said, I would've returned at some point because we like to support small businesses. However, what lost me as a customer is that there was an employe there who left to go on a break; came back inside, walked directly to the kitchen window, grabbed our food to serve to our table WITHOUT EVER WASHING HIS HANDS before touching it.
