It had been a while since I've paid a visit to the CDH. My wife actually suggested it for the nice open dining room and the great atmosphere. We brought along my 85 year old mother in law this time. I have many favorites on the menu here and she asked if we've ever had the fish and chips. I said "heck yeah" as it is one of my favorites. The fish is as big and long as the plate. She and I both ordered the fish and chips while my wife ordered the grilled shrimp and some steamed broccoli. The shrimp were grilled to perfection and the fish was hot, flaky, and succulent. The tartar sauce isn't overpowering and the cole slaw is balanced well also. I hate to see people unhappy when they come here as I have only had great experiences with the food and service. I'll just have to keep coming and reviewing.

Half eaten mondo slab of meatloaf. So DELICIOUS!

I don't understand how this place has such a low rating on yelp. We've been coming here for years, and the service is always on point, the food is always delicious! Comfort food at its finest! The steak pita is delicious and has always been my go to, but my most recent visit I had a hankering for some meatloaf. I'm picky about my meatloaf and had asked if they had good meatloaf. The waitress said they did. I told her for the first time ever I was ordering something different off the menu so it better be lol! Don't you know this is the best dang meatloaf I've ever had in my life?! I'll never have to make it again. And the slab they brought out was gigantic. I could barely eat half of it. When I got home, I threw it on the scale and it was still a full half pound! Took it home and my daughter and I shared the rest for lunch. Mashed taters were great. No instant potatoes here! I love this place. It might not be your typical five star dining experience with fancy this and that, which is typically what I think when I think of 5 Stars, but for comfort food? Heck yeah this is five stars all the way! Absolutely! oh, and their fried pickles are delicious and so is the ranch dressing.

Update to my last review. Came in Monday afternoon with my wife and had a very pleasant lunch. It was apparent staff was lacking because the manager was serving the entire dining room but despite the apparent frenzy we could tell that he was very courteous and polite to all the tables. The fish and chips were a huge portion as always and my wife's meatloaf tasted better than she makes (her words, not mine). Can't really say anything about the bar area but the dining area is great and we love the festive holiday decorations.

a plate of meat, mashed potatoes, and green beans

This is Claytons largest sports bar. One can get a lot done here, whether it be sitting at the LARGE bar, playing pool and darts, or just having dinner. It's all here all here at the Cleveland Draft House. I would say the entrees here are impressively tasty yet filling and clearly house made. They do offer some great comfort food options, with the meatloaf being one of my favorites so far. Well-seasoned, moist and partnered with mashed potatoes and FRESH green beans. The dining room seems a bit understaffed at times, resulting in a bit of a wait, so bring your patience. It's a casual environment, almost feels like a casino, not to loud and everyone is just enjoying themselves without any signs of drama. Cheers!

Good place to grab some good bar food. Conveniently located on Highway 70 in Clayton. I've been a few times since moving to Clayton and it's always a good experience. When you arrive you can choose to sit in the dining area or the bar area. The bar area has plenty of games and pool tables. There's also a large patio area adjacent to the bar area. This place is large and spacious! I haven't had any of the cocktails, but the beer selection is great for beer drinkers and there is a full bar. All of the food I've ever had here is great! Some of my favorites are the pretzel and the buffalo chicken dip! My mom ordered the chicken sandwich last time I went and it was HUGE. Servers and staff are friendly. Definitely a must try if you're in the area...

We've been to this location a few times. This is my fist time ordering a Philly cheesesteak and it it's horrible. More bread than meat. And the meat is burnt! Like they scrapped it off the bottom of the grill. Very disappointed

Chicken Caesar wrap with house made chips.

First time here. Sat in the bar because the wait for the restaurant side was over 20 min. I liked the atmosphere and that the booths had outlets if you needed to charge your phone. I got the chicken Caesar wrap with fresh potato chips. The food was good but there wasn't much Caesar on the wrap so I asked for additional. That took a long time to get but it was great when I finally got it. Then I ran out of iced tea. I couldn't find our server. I was out of tea for 15 minutes before I got another server to come. She disappeared for 10 min then I got my refill. By that time any liquid would have been welcomed. Since we had a server at our table, I asked for the bill which quickly came with an extra charge for the Caesar dressing. If it wasn't for the tea situation I wouldn't have cared but I just came away annoyed. The servers when available were very nice. I reckon they were short staffed?

The best potato soup that I've ever had. I'd never had chopped ham in a potato soup before, and it was phenomenal. I'll definitely add ham to my homemade potato soup instead of bacon from now on. Not only was the soup excellent, it was an entire bowl, quite a good portion. The real reason we were there was for drinks. I had a few vodka and cranberries and they weren't stingy on the vodka either. My husband was happy with the craft beer selection. Over all the food, drink and service. were five stars. We sat out on the covered patio area that also dubs as a smoking area for patrons and employees. If that cigarette smoke bothers you, don't sit in the patio area. Zero social distancing and hardly anyone was wearing masks. Even some of the employees weren't wearing masks. If that sort of thing bothers you in the midst of a pandemic, don't come to North Carolina. That seems to be the norm all over NC, so I can't fault one restaurant too much for not following the recommended guideline.

McKinley's is a Clayton anchor! Tucked into the heart of town, this old-school sports bar feels…read morelike it's been here forever--in the best way possible. Every wall is lined with TVs playing whatever game matters most that night, while dollar bills cover the walls like a scrapbook of good times, tall tales, and nights that ran a little longer than planned. The décor nods proudly (and somewhat creatively) to Irish heritage, with touches of green, classic signs, and a love of good beer doing most of the storytelling. It's a place where locals gather, strangers become regulars fast, and the atmosphere is equal parts loud cheers, friendly debate, and comfortable familiarity. Unpolished, well-worn, and full of character, it's the kind of small-town sports bar where the drinks are cold, the TVs are always on, and everyone feels right at home. The menu leans into its claims of Irish roots with a lineup of familiar pub classics--hearty, comforting dishes that feel right at home alongside a pint. But as solid as those classics may be, the real standout is the good old pub burger. Cooked exactly the way you ask for it--perfectly rare, juicy, and full of flavor--it's the kind of burger that reminds you why simplicity done right always wins. Served up hot and fresh by a friendly face that treats you like a regular, it's not just a meal, it's part of the experience: honest food, genuine hospitality, and a plate that keeps people coming back. Cheers!

I normally do not like leaving bad reviews and very rarelyeave such a low score especially.on a place I like normally. We were seated right away which was nice since there were busy. It was at least 5 minutes before our waitress came and asked us for our drink orders, maybe longer. She seemed to be having a bad night, very unfriendly no smile, was very avious she was not happy. She brought us our drinks and asked of we were ready. They had the boneless wing speacial so wife and daughter got those and I got 12 Jumbo hot wings. They also ordered salads and I ordered loaded potato skins for an appetizer. It seemed to take forever, which I was understanding since there were busy. Eventually the salads came. Wait the ranch dressing for the wings came out 1st. As they ate thier salads I wondered if maybe she didn't get my order for the potato skins.... Eventually she bought 2 orders of wings.my daughters 12 and a big plate of wings. She was like yea the kitchen is crazy this is what they sent. It was a whole bugbplatebof boneless wings. She then brought my jumbo wings. I asked her did you not get my potato skins order... she non-shalontly said yea I got them, im waiting on them and she said something abiutbtheres a new guy training and blames them. We'll no because potato skins were way over cooked the top was dark and the inside were dark as well. My wife tried one and my daughter wouldn't even touch them. The boneless wings were so dry and over cooked. My wings looked ok but they were also hit wings so the were drenched in buffalo sauce as they should be. They ok a little over cooked but we're ok. The Boneless wings were over cooked and dry. The atmosphere was typical of a trivia night which was good. The waitress was horrible no personality almost an attitude even though I tried being nice. No thank you.no have a good night, nothing. I understand people have bad days but if your in the business you just cant be this way. I love this place except for the bathroooms.. which I wish they would update thier bathrooms. I hope maybe if they read this review they can adjust. Yes we got sone extra wings for whatever reason but they were still sry and overcooked.
