I just went to get my hair dyed a lighter blonde. I met with Jen and Amanda. As someone who has very little experience with hair I tried explaining what I wanted the best I could. If you book there, don't expect personal service from the stylist you book. I booked with Amanda, and once again, she rushed through slapping on highlights, making sure to say she did not have time to cut. No wonder--she had two additional clients booked during my appointment. As usual i got passed off to another stylist she asked to do her a favor and tone me and passed off to another stylist for styling. I told that stylist how poorly this makes clients feel being passed around to whomever has free hands, and she said they triple book so they can keep their prices low. This is NOT a low priced salon. But they do operate as a volume business, so if you don't mind feeling like you are at cheap walk-in salon, this is the place for you. If you are looking for personal service, notsomuch. read more

Don't go with Trish! I had been to Clique Salon before twice and had wonderful experiences. Katelyn is no longer working there so I thought I would try Trish for a cut and highlights. She did the highlighting part in less than 10 minutes which concerned me, but I figured she was just really quick. Then when it was time for the haircut, which was supposed to be a shoulder length bob, she snipped away randomly for less than 5 minutes and then dried my hair quickly. The length was shorter than shoulder length and obviously not well done. I was definitely worried at that point, but I figured I'd go home, take a look and reassess because I was scared she would do more damage. When I got home, I noticed the horrible job she did with my highlights. They started about an inch from my scalp and the color was not consistent throughout. The cut was even worse. It was nowhere close to even, I had different lengths of hair all over. Because of the horrible work she did, I had to cancel my maternity shoot that I had scheduled. I went back to get it fixed with someone else. I didn't want Trish anywhere close to my hair. I only went to get the haircut fixed, but the stylist saw the bad highlighting and said she would fix that also. She did a good job trying to fix both messes, but it's still not what it should have been from the beginning. I don't think the second stylist had much to work with, and I didn't want her to cut anymore hair. It's been a month since this happened, and I am still upset about it. Every time I have to do my hair, I have to find ways to hide the cut and the highlighting that is still choppy in certain parts. Since my hair is short, there's not much hiding I can do. I'm hoping it'll grow out soon so I can at least hide it with a ponytail. Needless to say, I don't think I'm going back. read more

Like several others here on Yelp I too had a disappointing experience today at Clique. Kelsey was my stylist and I came in for a cut and color. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and I thought she had a good understanding. The color seems OK but not exciting. The cut was another story. She does not seem to know how to handle scissors or a brush for that matter. The cut was quite uneven and much shorter than we had discussed. She recognized my dissatisfaction and brought over the owner to take a look. He tried to fix things but once it is too short there is not much you can do. Even correcting the unevenness was not possible as that would have required going even shorter. The experience turned into a tutorial for Kelsey as both really agreed it was not a great cut but could not really be salvaged. To compensate me they only charged me for the color. While this is not a tragic event and my hair will grow back I am writing this article because I feel the salon should recognize someone's inexperience and not let them perform certain tasks until they have all the skills needed. Not sure I will give them another chance as it seems risky. Also, my displeasure did not prevent them from trying to sell me three products. i've had micro highlights put in my black hair for years now. when i went to clique for the first time, it was because i had just moved to houston. i got the WORST HIGHLIGHTS OF MY LIFE here. the stylist girl completely FRIED my hair...i was pulling broken pieces of hair for a full two days after. she also left a huge orangy chunk on the very front of my hair that looked ridiculous. i went back and she fixed it by toning it to dark brown. i will never return because in all my years of getting highlights, i have never EVER had my hair damaged like that. because i have long hair, it took a couple of years and several professional conditioning treatments for it to recover. basically, it was really obvious that she wanted to get me in and out, even tho when i made my appointment, i expressed that it would take a long long time to do my hair and that they should block out extra time (i have a lot of hair, and it takes a long time for black to lift to blonde)...but she cut corners and put too strong a bleach (so it'll lift faster) and also took another client when my hair was in foils. tho i dont mind her taking another client, she definitely did not check on me enough and for that reason my hair went to shit. if you want a salon to take their time w/ you, and not rush you in and out, don't go here. read more

Desperately needed a haircut and decided to try Clique. I very easily got an appointment online. The salon is cute. I was given a tour by Amanda G although she was not my stylist. She was very professional and warm. After she departed and I met my stylist and hairwasher, it seemed less relaxing and more like a factory. The stylist was interrupted several times by the hairwasher and cashier throughout the cut. The quality of my cut is great, however it is 4 inches below where I asked. I did feel moderate pressure to buy the products that were collected. My stylist also told me twice that I should come back in 8 weeks. It was 85 dollars for the cut; if I could afford that my student loans would be paid off! A cut should be able to last long hair at least 12 weeks. While I may need another cut in 8 weeks because of the length, it will unfortunately not be at this salon. read more

I went to this salon on the basis of a friend's recomendation. As she has great hair, my expectations were high that I too would have a good experience. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case. The first thing I noticed was that they were playing very loud music like what you would hear in a night club which is not my idea of a relaxing atmosphere. Next, the stylist I had, Trish, didn't listen to a thing I said regarding my hair. I told her that I wanted the color to remain close to the same (it was a reddish brown) but that I wanted the color to be more intense and a deeper red. Somehow, this got translated into copper with blonde highlights. I went back a second time to have the color corrected and while it is better, it is still not close to what I had envisioned. Worse than the color though is the actual hair cut. I explained to Trish (as I always do because I know how my hair behaves better than anyone) that my hair is curly and it shrinks considerably after it is dry. She didn't listen and cut my bangs while they were wet and cut them WAY too short and at an angle so that one piece sticks out now and the sides are curled and puffy. I can always tell when it's been too long between haircuts because I resort more often to ponytails and headbands but, I have NEVER had the expereience before of needing to resort to that for a brand new haircut. Extremely disapointed and won't be back. Don't let this woman touch your hair. read more

Amanda is absolutely wonderful. I'm very picky about my haircut, and I was very comfortable telling Amanda what I wanted done differently from the first haircut when I went back to see her again. She's very open to suggestions, complaints, etc. She also did an excellent job on my hair coloring. At my previous salon, I had to have a special conditioner applied to my hair during coloring, because it itched so much. It turns out that the solution that Amanda uses is much more mild, so I didn't have the same problem. read more

Dan's wife: As a new client, I appreciated being shown around the salon and having someone offer me a beverage. I hate walking into a salon and feeling out-of-place. My stylist, Jen, took time to discuss what I wanted for my cut and color. It's always hard to go to a new stylist but I walked out feeling good about the style and the color. While it is a nice salon, it's a bit higher priced compared to what I was paying. And I took off one star because I didn't care for the presentation of product at checkout. Too heavy handed for me. took my daughter here today for prom night hair after reading the good reviews, we were not very happy with the results. No shampoo, just curling iron, they only gave her a 30 minute appointment and she was finished before then. Hair looked okay, but nothing like the 3 pictures we took with us to show how she wanted it. We could have done the same at home and saved the $37. No wonder they had no other prom girls there getting their hair done. Won't go back and don't recommend. read more

I found Clique salon after searching for a stylist I could trust. I had a traumatic experience with cut and color (just like millions of us out there!) and was recommended to go to this salon. James the owner suggested Trish to do my color. Feeling very unsure Trish made the whole experience feel worth the money I was spending and the end product was amazing. When my hair grows out the roots never look dingy or faded and seem to always leave me wondering if she has the golden touch. I have since been going back to Trish for 2+ years for cut and color and never have a problem scheduling an appointment and always leave feeling like she "glammed" me up!! My first experience at Clique was great! Amanda V listened to what I wanted and gave me fullness and volume even though my hair is baby fine! She also gave me great tips about how to style my hair. Everyone was down to earth and pleasant. Salon is clean and not super loud. At the end, I wasn't pressured into purchasing the products she used on my hair, but they did show them to me and sent me home with a handy list if I decide to purchase in the future! If you have a stylist you love here, then great. But if your stylist leaves, don't trust management. Your stylist was probably protecting you from the inherently crooked methods from the front desk to the management. I have come here several times, services totaling between $111 and $170, purchasing product in addition each visit totaling 50-100% of my service cost. That's how I tipped my original stylist. I know these numbers because the manager read them to me yesterday as I stood on trial in front of her staff ... over $12. Three other stylists at this establishment were apparently lying to me all along and I was now getting the immaculate truthful staff. They lied to me when I called to confirm that I was getting my original stylist a few months ago. She hadn't been there for three weeks when I called. I should have left then. The worst part is, this place has a manager who revealed details about my stylist's exit from the company that no U.S. labor law abiding manager would ever divulge. They don't care about the rights of their stylists, and they do not care about longtime customers. I offered to pay $60 more than I was told, and she fought me on $12 more. Unbelievable. I just paid her so I could leave. I have two other friends with ridiculously long thick jet black hair who have been working the courage to come to where I've been going and brave the blonde and brown trails. I went to the salon because of all the great reviews for it on Yelp. It's all true! The service, the drinks, the massage. The receptionist and the stylist were very nice and the sales pitches are not pushy at all. Amanda (I requested her because of all the reviews, too) did an awesome job. She was very good at hearing what I wanted but was also creative and added her own touch, which was great - worked very well with my face. From my experience and from what she did with my long, thick, shapeless, dry and frizzy hair, I think she has a talent plus a very high level of technique. And they have special deals, which make keeping up the appearance less stressful financially and more the fun that it should be. I am definitely coming back! I've gone back and taken off one star because my hair doesn't look quite as great after washing as it did right out of the salon - it really needs to be styled to look good. ill start off by saying that i very rarely get my hair cut due to bad experiences in the past at "high end" salons like visible changes and etc. despite all the positive reviews on here for Clique i was still pretty worried. anyway, i set up an appointment the morning of November 05 2015 at 2:30 with Trisha for the same day. I walked in at 1:40 and was offered a cup of tea (green tea, no other tea options but i love green tea) i didnt expect to be taken in right away since my appointment was at 2:30, but Trisha took me in literally 20 seconds after i sat down! Trisha sat me in my seat and asked what i wanted. I had waist length hair and i wanted to just chop it off (im mexican so my hair is super thick and heavy and i just could not take the length anymore) i told her i wanted a little less than shoulder length hair but i didnt want the edges to be blunt. thats all i told her and she went with it. she gave me the cutest semi bob (a little longer than a normal bob) and i left so so so so happy, close to tears lol. originally, the price was $68 but since i was a new client i received $20 off! i definitely recommend this salon and i definitely recommend Trisha. If youre worried like me, dont be! They are awesome here! read more

This salon is probably fine. I had problems with the stylist, Trish. She was very nice. But she did not listen to a word I said and seemed to be in a hurry. The whole time she was cutting my hair she was trying to convince me to get highlights that day. I didn't mind her asking me about highlights. But after all was said and done I was irritated that she focused on getting me to get color done while giving me a crappy haircut- the haircut being what I came in for. I was not at all happy with the cut and asked her to fix some things, which she did but I still was not impressed with the cut. It was uneven and blah. I walked directly over to Beautique Salon (also in Rice Village) to see if I could get it fixed. Not worth the $65 I had to pay at Clique. I will not go there again. read more

I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but I had the WORST experience of my life yesterday at Clique!!! I wish I could give 0 stars because that's how disappointed I am in this place. My appointment was with James (one of the highest level color specialists). I came in with dark blonde hair asking for full light blonde highlights. I asked him to get me as blonde as he possibly could for my upcoming wedding the following week. He began talking about how damaged my hair was, and how much I needed a haircut. My hair is NOT damaged at all! I could use a trim but other than that my hair is extremely healthy. After refusing a haircut due to needing the length for my upcoming wedding, he began to get flustered. He then tried to persuade me to do something different to my hair but I didn't want anything else. After pondering it, he agreed to do what I wanted and he left to go mix the color. He came back 5 minutes later with nothing in his hand and politely asked me to leave the salon because due to his "professionalism" he didn't want to "push the limits on my already damaged hair". I went to a different salon today and was able to get highlights with no problem. read more
