Souffle pancakes are one of those things that you severely miss when coming back from Japan. My friend has even tried to recreate it at home with a few recipes, but nothing could come close to what we had in Japan. Even in Japan, it's not always the same and certain cafes are better than others. It's always so discouraging when I get teased by pictures of souffle pancakes on social media. So imagine my surprise when I saw that the location for these delicious looking souffle pancakes that I came across on IG was on Oahu! When many things from Japan make its way to Hawaii, it's usually not even close to what you remember . However, the pictures on social media made these souffle pancakes look like something I couldn't pass up. Then, Cloud Nine Cafe had a contest on IG to win a $10 gift certificate and I won! Even more reason to visit! Fast forward to the day when these souffle pancakes and I would finally meet. It's a cute little cafe in Market City Shopping Center next to T-Mobile. Their menu is kind of random with items consisting of milk teas, bubble teas, instant coffee (what???), Taiwanese sandwiches, thick toast, cold noodles, dumplings, tea eggs, and of course their most popular menu item the souffle pancakes. My friend and I only came for the souffle pancakes. Nothing else really seemed tempting. There are different choices of pancakes - original with maple syrup, coconut cream with honey and almond cereal, coconut cream with caramel brulee and marshmallow, chocolate cream with Oreo chips, brown sugar cream with boba, mango or strawberry cream with fruit, and salted cream cheese with macadamia nut. The cashier said that the brown sugar cream with boba is the most popular, but since I'm not a huge boba fan, we went with the strawberry cream with fruit. Keep in mind that these souffle pancakes take time to make...at least 20 minutes...longer if they are busy. On this particular visit, the cashier said it would be maybe 45 minutes (though I think it came out much faster). Come with good company to talk story with and the wait really doesn't seem very long at all. It's a small place, so there are less than 10 tables inside. Luckily, it wasn't too busy when we went and we were able to get a table quickly. Verdict? The souffle pancakes are divine! Just what I had hoped! I think I would have been fine with the original because the pancakes themselves are just so good. Just the right amount of fluffiness and not too eggy. It's a wonderful dessert to share with a friend. Doesn't leave you feeling super full after. The strawberry cream tasted like melted strawberry ice cream that isn't too sweet. The honey and almond cereal wasn't expected and really didn't add to the dessert at all. I could've done without it. One other thing to mention...when I told the cashier that I had won the IG contest, she had to talk to her manager to verify. When the manager came to the register, she was so excited to meet me! She said she used to work at Tim Ho Wan and ran the IG contests when she was there. She remembered me from when I was entering those contests. Rather than giving me a gift certificate, they just took $10 off of our bill. When we were leaving, she made it a point to say goodbye to us and say how nice it was to finally meet me in person. So sweet! I would come back. I think I would just go with the original, though. The souffle pancakes are worthwhile just on its own. The only thing that's missing is the whipped butter that's given with souffle pancakes in Japan. Hoping for a matcha flavor at some point...hint, hint Cloud Nine Cafe. :) read more

Cloud 9 Cafe has only been opened for a little over a month, serving boba tea, smoothies, soufflé pancakes, sandwiches, dumplings and other types of food. I'm a fan of boba tea, so it's always nice to know that in Hawaii you can find a boba shop easily. We visited Cloud 9 specifically for their Soufflé Pancakes which did not disappoint. Light, airy, fluffy deliciousness is the best way I can describe these and not too sweet at all. We ordered the Strawberry Soufflé Pancakes and the Chocolate with Oreo Soufflé. Both were equally delicious! Although I didn't order the dumplings, they looked great and I love that they have either pork or chicken options. Customer service was great. Some days when Aunty Flow pays a visit I would drive all the way from Ewa just to satisfy her craving. My first time here was a week prior and my friend and I had a nice boba souffle and had a great time catching up. Souffle was de‐lish!!! As we were talking another friend stopped by and I had joined them. I had over heard that last call for souffle was 8:30. Makes sense. Takes 20mins to make it right? Technically if they closes at 9 they could pop one out if they started at 8:40. But let's not go there. TODAY. Aunty flow came for a visit and all I wanted was a souffle! Came at 8:11pm and was told....last call was at 8PM. EIGHT PEEEEE EMMMMMMMNN. Dont get me wrong. Aunty rates their products a 11 out of 10! Today is merely a review out of frustration and for any other girl that has to go through visits with aunty flow! Business should be clear about their cut off times and be consistent about them. Businesses should also post that the last call is at 8PM, so aunty dont have to waste her time trying to decide what souffle she wants. Specifically came here to try their soufflé pancakes, and it did not disappoint! I was not expecting the texture to be soooo soft and pillow-y, but I loved it and it tasted even better as it came out fresh and hot! I was scared that it might've came out dry since my previous experiences trying soufflé pancakes always looked dry. That was not the case at CNC :) I got the strawberry creme with strawberry and kiwi toppings on top, the creme was very subtle and not overly sweet. The pancakes itself had a lot of flavor too, which I think you could get away with eating it by itself without the creme (that's how good the pancakes were.) I would definitely come here again and order all the different flavors that they offer for the soufflé pancakes. I couldn't finish 1/2 of the pancakes, and it was still jiggly too! -1 star for a few reasons. They either did not have AC or it was broken. It felt like standing in a really crowded bus with a broken AC. After paying for my food, the cashier said it would take 10-15 minutes for the soufflé pancakes to be ready... I wanted to get out of the cafe to get some fresh air since hot air usually gives me a headache x_x. It took almost 30 minutes for 2 soufflé pancakes to be made as we were the only ones who ordered. I didn't mind the wait since I had nothing else to do, but waiting in a non-AC room just didn't work out for me. I asked for a takeout container to pack my 1/2 soufflé pancakes since I was so full (yay, breakfast for me!) Keep in mind they do charge $0.15 per container! I also came in on the last day of their promotion (December 8 - buy a soufflé pancake, get a medium iced milk tea free) and the milk tea was alright. It was super watered down after 15 minutes because of how much ice was put in it. There's additional cost if you do add-ons for toppings too, which the cashier did not mention to us at all until I noticed it on the receipt. I would also skip the pork dumplings with chives. I assumed it would've tasted just like Dragon Tea's dumplings (which CNC took over DT's former location), but it lacked some taste. Other than that, I really do recommend stopping here at least once to try out their soufflé pancakes! I don't think there are many places on O'ahu that serves it, so this is a very unique place. Purely came here to try their coveted soufle pancakes. I got one to share with my boyfriend, the mango pancake. It took quite a while to get it, about 20 minutes. My boyfriend was kind of scared that it wasn't thoroughly cooked as it was hard to tell if there was raw batter or the actual mango sauce? I thought it was fine though. I was sooo happy they had soufflé pancakes in Honolulu, as I didn't get the chance to try it in Japan. I love sweets and this was a bit disappointing for such a viral food trend. But I was able to jiggle the pancakes for that iconic boomerang shot! The pancakes were more fluffy than your typical ones. They did a great job with presentation and toppings. The brown sugar and boba were just delicious! I liked the first couple bites but could only finish half of it; I definitely recommend sharing, as it is pretty heavy. I went back and forth deciding to rate it 3 stars or 4 stars. I would usually bring it to 4 stars, especially for new places but just couldn't. The girl at the cashier seemed to have an attitude and we waited 45 minutes for our pancakes to come out (they estimated 25 min). I got the braised pork with rice and pork dumplings combo with milk tea. It's about $12 with the meal and milk tea which sounds pricey but for Honolulu it's a good deal I guess. The pickles were really good, like super crispy and a little sweet, a little different from tsukemono in a refreshing way. The dumplings were pretty tasty, favorite part was the sort of garlicky dipping sauce that came with it and the spicy sauce which had a kick. The braised pork was also really tasty. KC kitchen, which is the only other place I know on island with Taiwanese food, was sold out of it last time. The rice war harder than I'm used to but it might just be because it's not the usual local sticky rice. Very tasty and hardy. REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE PANCAKES: It's an ok for me. 20mins wait for that was fine since its nice to have something freshly made. The souffle pancakes flavor wise was good with the chocolate sauce (not too sweet). My main issue was the texture. It wasn't fluffy at all like I was expecting... it was very dense like it wont bounce back when you push it down it will just stay smooshed... it felt like I was eating a very undercooked pancake wet in the middle when I tried to taste it by itself... Now I know souffles and lava cakes are normally gooey in the middle.... but this one is not like that in any way and nowhere compare to those type of desserts. There are some things that works and some that just feels weird. Now to some that might think this is good.. well good for you... But I personally dont like it an undercooked pancake texture so if you're like me.. you've been warned Now for the price it's a bit too much and I can think of multiple places to get pancakes for the same or less price but with my preferred texture. We were in the shopping center and just stumbled upon this place for some desert after dinner. Its a cute little milk tea and desert place. We were lucky because they had a promotion going on that time. We got a free milk tea for one order of their souffle pancakes. We ordered the chocolate souffle pancakes. The owner makes it fresh after you order it so we waited for 15-20 minutes but it was worth it. ITS SOOO GOOD! The pancakes are so fluffy and jiggly. It came out fresh and warm, which is perfect to eat. I thought it would be super sweet but it wasnt, the sweetness was just right and perfect. The size is pretty huge. Three of us shared one and we were stuffed. The owners are so nice and friendly. It was our first time and the girl explained their menu to us and showed us pictures and videos of what the souffle pancakes look like. The pancakes were light and kind of fluffy, more Ike a sponge foam texture and came in three small ish sized pancakes. I don't think it's worth the $12 and 25-30 minute wait! The lady at the counter seemed very impatient and yes we were deciding what to get at the cashier BUT we were the only ones in line. Drinks- these were terrible. There are a variety of toppings to choose from, but I decided to go with Oreo and chocolate, which is whipped into a light, creamy blanket that covers, but does not envelop or overpower the flavor of the cakes. The milk tea and tapioca pearls are like no other place that would sell milk tea, they have a variety of options from fruit teas and blended drinks/smoothies. Unfortunately, we drank our drinks before I could take a picture-- but my husband got the butterfly pea tea and I got a simple jasmine milk tea with brown sugar boba. When our pancakes came: the cream was bursting of flavor and really brought out the fluffy pancake. Mind you, these pancakes take around 20-30 minutes to make and they are definitely 100% work the wait. You can tell those soufflé pancakes are make with freshness, love and dedication. Plus, they're nice and warm and made to order. I haven't tried their Taiwanese meals, but I'm dying to try because they look so delicious in the pictures. Located in Market Center near Foodland. Came here after our hike to the top of diamond head and wanted to something to cool down with. It's a spacious cafe area, lots of parking (but currently repaving the lot) and lots of options to choose from. Never seen taro boba but we got the honeydew boba. Nothing special just another slushie type boba. The boba was kind of hard in the center and the ratio they give was very little ran out of the boba. The brown sugar boba souffle is what we actually came for. It did not disappoint! Super fluffy and delicious almost like Japanese fluffy pancakes. The pancake itself isn't too sweet, so it goes well with the sweeter creams that are draped over it - mango: doesn't taste artifical. A little tangy. 9/10 - strawberry: doesnt taste artifical. 9/10 - creme brulee: not the strongest creme brulee flavor, which could be a pro/con. They glaze the top part of the sauce so it's a little hard but the sauce isn't that interesting. 6.5/10 - brown sugar boba: what you'd expect. The boba is a normal consistency. Boba isn't really sweet itself but the brown sugar sauce its in is obviously sweeter. 8/10 Savory Food - pork dumplings: suuuper juicy. If you dined in you do have to put your name, address and time you dined in. They do check your temperatures. I ordered the original butter with maple syrup and my daughter ordered chocolate cream with Oreo chips. To be honest I didn't think these pancakes would fill us up. My daughter and I were running errands all morning and got there around 11 am and when we got there we were STARVING. It did take about 15-20 min to make out soufflé pancakes. Perfection takes time, and it is well worth the wait. I am also a huge fan of noodles with sesame sauce, but this one fell a little flat. I liked how the sauces were on the side, preventing soggy noodles, however, it was troublesome to mix everything together, and I wanted more sauce. Glad that this place opened up again and is serving Taiwanese food still. Miss the tofu dish they used to have. Still their chicken and cabbage dumplings and braised pork with rice was excellent. We tried their soufflé pancakes for dessert and those were ok. It took about 30 min for the pancakes bc they are made to order and it was busy. Came here for the soufflé pancakes because it seems like their most popular items. It was really busy at around noon on a Monday (it was also a holiday SO...). Nowhere to sit when we walked in and there were a few people waiting for seats. Didn't end up getting a table until 15 min after we ordered. We ordered the chocolate soufflé pancakes with oreo chips. The cashier informed us it'll take around 20 minutes to make, which was okay considering they're made to order. Definitely something to consider if you're short on time. The chocolate cream and pancakes were really light! Definitely what I expected from a soufflé pancake. The chocolate cream wasn't overly sweet. Overall, the dessert was delicious. Something that you should try at least once. But, the wait for the pancakes was long and you have to be quick to get a table. If you're going to try, definitely don't do it if you're in a rush! read more

Yummy bubble tea. Make sure you ask for your sweetness level, even at 75% it is quite sweet. My go to is the brown sugar milk tea with boba (bubble tea). They also make FOOD. Yummy looking bit KNOW THAT YHE SOUFFLÈ PANCAKES TAKE 20 MINUTES TO MAKE. You want them, you know how amazing they look and the cream on top?! Oh my! So make sure you plan accordingly. I found this out today and I don't have time to wait so I got my tea and now I have to run more errands. So I'll be back! read more

Another boba shop, another pleasant discovery! I only recently noticed that Dragon Tea in the Market City Shopping Center was replaced by yet another boba shop so while I was around the area I decided to check it out. Cloud Nine shares the Market City parking lot so depending on when you go, parking can be sparse. While they have the standard boba drink flavors, what I want to rave about are their Cloud Yogurt drinks!! Their cloud yogurt drinks come in a few different flavors with dollops of Greek yogurt to create "clouds" in the drink. It's not a very known combo for me so I was a little hesitant but once you shake everything together it's SO. GOOD! The Greek yogurt gives the smoothie a pretty balanced and creamy taste. I can't pinpoint the exact taste but somehow it's a bit nostalgic for me. I would highly recommend the strawberry cloud yogurt with rainbow jelly or the mango cloud yogurt with mango jelly! Their mango cloud yogurt is probably the most fresh tasting mango I've tasted thus far from other shops. Other places are a hit and miss with the mango but this one is great! There's still a lot to try so there's so much potential here, they also have a lot of comfort food asian dishes here if you're interested in eating and having a drink.
