They were kind enough to reserve the back of the location for a friend's retirement party for nearly 50 people. We had a lot of fun. We brought in pizza, salads and cookies and most of our guests ordered alcoholic beverages - some in unique containers. Parking outside was plentiful. It's a very good place for special events or just relaxing at their bar.

It's open seating and they allow outside food since they do not have a kitchen here. I guess people even get food delivered through the apps. // DRINKS // They have around 15 tiki drinks on the menu, plus 3-4 seasonal tiki cocktails, a couple frozen cocktails and some non alcoholic cocktails on the menu too. If you don't feel like a tiki drink they also have a few beers on tap or canned. PAINKILLER: Pussers navy rum, Pussers gunpowder rum, Goslings 151, coconut, pineapple, orange, bitters. This thing is strong! You can definitely taste the rums and 151, but at the same time the bartender was able to make it well-balanced and taste like a very good, but strong cocktail. ROYAL RATIONS (seasonal cocktail): Kuleana hui hui & agricole rums, hawaiian sun passion-orange, pineapple, lime, passionfruit 18. It sounded like something that I would enjoy, but I would skip this in the future and order the other drinks on their island classics or hula classics menu. Overall, I'm glad I checked out Hula Hula Room. Already planning my next visit to enjoy more of the drinks on the menu.

With new ownership comes an affiliated new crowd coinciding w/ old crowd. You could cut the tension in the air w/ someone's pocket knife because you just felt at least one person was packing. I never felt the need to look over my shoulder regularly thru the night til now. Territorial is an understatement. It could be your first visit, and you could tell two different groups were there. Service was disappointing. A customer is a customer, but I noticed new ownership neglected old crowd to tend to her crowd or anything else to keep her "busy." Meanwhile, original bartenders were bending over backwards for everybody. We, in the old crowd, are familiar enough w/ each other for some small talk at the bar while waiting for drinks. They were as confused and shocked as I was about the service. I don't even want to mention what I saw in owner/staff interactions, but I'ma just leave it at sad. It was just sad. I'm not a regular regular, but Southland was the spot for my friends and me when we wanted a night out together for past couple years. Now, we're back to bar-hopping for a new spot because The Alley Bar ain't it. I'd give her benefit-of-the-doubt because she just picked up the place, but benefit would imply I saw an effort in keeping old crowd loyal while inviting new life, too--yeah, no benefit here. R.I.P. Southland, thanks for all the fun.

Lucky me for the lodging problem because I ended up having the funnest night with the nicest people ever and I can't wait to come back. Thursday karaoke night - highly recommend. No need to worry about parking either, as there is a large (free) parking garage adjacent to the PV promenade it is located in. Located on the second level of the promenade, we came for a graduation celebration and were blown away by the food. Got the: 1. Pao de queijo: 10/10 addictive baked 3 cheese Brazilian popovers served with lime aioli sauce (which it didn't need, because it got us hooked the way Cheeze its gets us - once you start, you can't stop!) 2. Fried Calamari: 7.5/10, also served with lime aioli sauce and house made marinara sauce. Good but not spectacular and not something I would repeatedly pay $18 for. The only dish we would not get again. 3. Modena Salad: 9/10, what a delicious salad with butter lettuce, candied walnuts, crumbled goat cheese, shallots, Italian parsley, and balsamic vinaigrette. My only complaint is that the lettuce was not bite sized, but for $17 this was a scrumptious salad 4. seafood pan roast: 12.5/10, TO DIE FOR! snow crab, shrimp, and it's sweeter larger cousin, prawns, in jasmine rice with a delicious house garlic focaccia. $30 but totally worth every penny and every inch of stomach real estate. 5. Crème brûlée: 8/10, it was good but compared to the seafood pan roast, it was nothing spectacular (however, the seafood pan roast is a really high bar) TLDR: delicious food in a date worthy and business meal worthy restaurant. Be sure to order the seafood pan roast to show off what a foodie you are
