I have to admit I'm not an expert on Vietnamese pho but met a friend here for lunch mostly because of the high Yelp reviews. Just had the large pho with beef slices for I think $13 or so. Broth was very tasty and enjoyable. However seemed like the ratio of noodles vs beef was a bit off. Also, the pho could have been hotter, temperature wise. Service was friendly. I was craving bò né (Vietnamese steak and eggs) one morning while I was waiting for my car to get serviced down the street from this place. There's a few places I know on Stockton Blvd that has it but I wanted to see how good it was here at Phở cô ba. I've been here a couple of times now and the food hasn't disappointed. It's nothing fancy, which I like... no fuss. But it's clean and inviting. The person serving us was super friendly and kept making sure we were doing okay but not to the extent of being annoying. For this particular visit my boyfriend had bún thịt bò xào xã which was really tasty and the veggies were fresh. At one point he spilled his fish sauce vinaigrette and the server came by to clean it up and even made sure it didn't get on my boyfriend's hands or anything which totally added to the already good service. My bò né came out with a freshly toasted Vietnamese baguette, small salad, and a sizzling platter full of savory goodness. It comes with a meatball, pate, steak and a sunny side up egg with a perfect runny yolk. The sauce on it was so delicious and perfect to dip my bread in. Love this place! Been here twice already and haven't been disappointed. The pho is super savory and the portion sizes of the bowl are huge! My husband and I shared a large pho and it was still too much for the both of us. The chili oil is a definite plus to add in your pho! Felt really under the weather today and was in search of some good seafood noodle soup. I've tried the dish at a few other places on Stockton/within Little Saigon and so far none hit the spot for me the way it does here. The portions are generous. I asked for thick ho fun noodles and they readily accommodated my request. They are far from stingy with the seafood and they also loaded the container up with delicious herbs + aromatics (i.e. chives, green onion + cilantro, crispy shallots/onions). My favorite part about it though is the broth. As with any noodle dish, it doesn't matter how much I'm given if the broth doesn't cut it. And whew, this stuff is bomb. Fragrant w/ just the right amount of oil, I really didn't feel any need to add extra sauces bc it would've honestly ruined the richness and depth for me. The broth for bun Bo hue is not spicy even though I asked it to be spicy and the waiter read it back to me that it will be spicy. The toppings that we got with the 2 bowls of soup were good. A lot of meat and blood cubes. It is a good portion size for the price. The service is so so. The food came out quickly but they didn't give us water at all. The good: I ordered the duck noodle soup with bamboo and it was absolutely delicious! 5/5 stars. I couldn't have imagined a better prepared dish. The vegetable side dish was fresh and fragrant. The bad: My wife and children ordered a large bowl of Pho Tai with Bo Vien to share. The portion for a large was quite generous. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst Pho bowls we've ever had. For starters, the broth comes with Nuoc Tuong (Hoisin sauce) premixed in, which any native Vietnamese person knows is a huge Faux Pas. That's like ordering a premium steak and having A1 sauce already dripped all over it. Only super low quality Pho places dare insult a pho bowl by doing this. Secondly, the Tai meat was super thick instead of thin rare cuts. My family didn't even finish half of their meal. Coming from a traditional Vietnamese family who doesn't believe in food waste, we only ever do this if the food is extraordinarily bad. Lastly, the location is sadly bad through no fault of the establishment. It's right next to a licour store in a plaza full of huge pot holes. We came at night when there was a beggar out front and a prostitute walking around. The whole area smelled autrociously of urine and fecal matter. This was the first time coming here, we drove from Fresno. The restaurant seemed like it was packed previously, there was at least 7 dirty tables, luckily we found a clean one. Well I'm not familiar with southeast Asian restaurants in Sacramento. And never knew of this area having a Little Saigon. But we decided to try this one since the reviews were pretty high on Yelp. I was excited to see the duck noodle soup and Hainanese chicken at this Vietnamese restaurant. So that's what we ordered also with some eggs rolls. The duck noodle soup was hot with pieces of duck on top cooked with egg noodles and 2 baby bokchoy. The broth was mediocre, slightly sweet and a faint flavor of duck. The noodles seemed old barely blanched which is ok. But a little stale tasting noodles over cooked bokchoy. There were 2 plump fresh pieces of duck and 4-5 pieces of duck with no real meat just skin, fat and bones on the bottom. I was starving so I tried to eat what I could. The Hainanese chicken was also mediocre. The eggs rolls were the star dish of our meal. Probably frozen but crispy and tasty with the garnishes and sweet spicy sauce. I grew up in Orange County near Little Saigon and lived in Fresno a few years so I really enjoy Vietnamese and southeast Asian cuisine! Also my fiancé is Thai! Not to be critical but I didn't really enjoy what I ordered except for the egg rolls. Our server seemed nice and helpful the service was good just the food wasn't flavorful in my opinion. I remember this place use to be a Long Sandwich, then a Pho Basil, then Pho Sacto and now its another Pho spot. Don't let the change in names shy you away from this delicious Viet restaurant. This has been my go to spot in Sac for hot, fresh, and authentic Viet food. The pho has been consistently hot and delicious and I enjoy their combination fried rice. Today we tried their beef chow fun again and tried the carmelized chop ribs which comes out piping hot in a clay pot. Care its hot and naturally this dish is salty so you will need a side of steamed rice to enjoy the bold and sweet flavors it offers. Service here is friendly, prompt, and on point. My first time here and I was pleasantly surprised. From the outside this place doesn't look like much and as you walk in you hear k-pop playing on the speakers. The place is family owned and operated. Everyone is very friendly and they all make rounds around the dinning area checking on each table. The Pho was amazing and the broth had great flavor. I ordered a small and received a very large serving. Good thing I didn't order a large lol. Then I had the #27. The grilled pork chop was the star of the plate. It was marinated with great flavors and was grilled to perfection. The egg-meatloaf was just okay and the fried egg could have been cooked a little longer. The dish comes with steamed rice and I asked for fried rice. My plate was served with what looked like Mexican rice. I originally ordered the ice coffee with condensed milk. This was hands down the strongest Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. It was so bold I wasn't able to drink it. I asked for a fresh strawberry lemonade and that was better. Ever since I moved to Sacramento, THIS has been my go to spot for pho. The portions and quality for the price is great compared to other pho restaurants in the area. Oftentimes, I get the combination pho (pho dac biet), tripe and all, and the broth always comes out fresh and hot, full of flavor! Literally, one of the best bowls of pho I've ever eaten, (never beats my momma's homemade pho, but I digress). It's perfect on a cold winter day or a hot summer night. I could eat pho for literally every meal. The other food options are delicious as well, like the rice plates and hot pot options. The staff is very friendly. Although, this establishment was previously Pho Sacto, most of the previous workers are still the same, the food quality is still tasty! And the interior was updated.
