Lovely spot with great bites and really solid prices. Sadie took care of us on their outdoor patio and we have the best time for a family lunch in the sun. Ordered a lot of things off their happy hour menu. Bang bang shrimp was a big highlight, and their deserts are phenomenal. Would love to come back and try some more next time. Again shoutout Sadie our server. She was so attentive and sweet especially with our newborn nephew who was at the table with us. Thanks for having us!

Great service and pretty decent food. 4 out of 5 Stars We come to Gulf Shores quite a bit, but we haven't been to Cobalt very much. We decided to give them a try tonight. The place was packed when we drove up. The Hostess at the front desk said that we would have a 90 minute wait. We stayed anyway. She took my phone number and sent me a confirmation text that put me in the queue. We waited in our car out in the parking lot. I got a text 30 minutes later that our table was ready. Our server, Tyler, was exceptional. He commented on my wife's earrings (they resembled his mother's). The guy was personable, professional, knowledgeable and courteous. He did his best with our pacing, but since they close at 9:30 and it was already 8:30 when we were seated, the back of the house was probably more concerned about getting the food cooked and out on the table. Salads were good and so were Oysters Rockefeller. Delicious. My wife ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo and it looked amazing. She absolutely loved it! Tyler warned her that it was spicy, but that was right up her alley. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. While the shrimp were cooked very well, the grits left something to be desired. They needed to be creamier with more cheese (and maybe pieces of bacon or andouille sausage?) They also needed either a spice note or a citrus note. The menu states that they are supposed to be jalapeño cheese grits. Well, there were no jalapeños in my grits and the lack of either a spice note or citrus note left them tasting bland. The presentation and plating were nice however. We were greeted by two different managers while we dined, which was impressive. After dinner, we didn't order dessert, but grabbed some gourmet cookies at the counter on the way out. Lemon coconut and chocolate chip with coconut. All in all, Cobalt is a nice establishment with good food. Next time, I think that I will try the Bronzed Grouper (their specialty), the Blackened Redfish, or the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. If you visit there, please ask for Tyler. He's great!

The food was very good! Except for my father's steak was very undercooked it was raw. Otherwise the food was very very good. I like how tidy and clean the place is. The shrimp was very overcooked though. The service was very fast. Bridget was a very kind and sweet server. I recommend this place for someone who is looking for a nice relaxing place for dinner!!

Loved this restaurant! Got there about 6 pm on. Thursday night. Was quoted 1 hr 45min wait. Waited about 1 hour. They use the toast app so you know where you are on the wait list. Sat at the bar had apps and listened to the steel drums while waiting for a table. The bartenders were fun and engaging. They made so many blended drinks! We really enjoyed the cocktails there. Looked at the beautiful scenery. And saw a gorgeous sunset. Great service from the waiter. And we all enjoyed our food! Had the Shrimp and grits, crab and scallop gnocchi, chicken pasta dish and Shrimp pasta. Will definitely go back on our next trip.

We came for lunch. Was seated right away. Beautiful place. Staff very friendly and attentive. Wes is an awesome waiter! My shrimp and grits were amazing! So much flavor, probably the best I have ever had. He got the special which was the amberjack Oscar style. It was cooked perfectly. Very fresh. We had the fried apple pie for desert. He loved it. I thought it was ok. But apple is never my favorite. We will definitely go back when we are in town.

The scalloped gnocchi was a major disappointment. The scalloped portion tasted frozen and lacked any fresh flavor.

Beautiful ambiance and decor, but unfortunately that alone isn't enough to bring me back. The service was just okay -- you could tell the staff seemed worn down, which made the experience feel a little off. The biggest disappointment was the food. The menu choices were pretty subpar, and the dishes we tried were overly salty and honestly hard to enjoy. Prices were reasonable compared to some overpriced places out there, but even then, I didn't feel the experience was worth returning for. Unless you enjoy very salty food and limited menu options, I'd probably skip this place.

Cobalt's is an amazing restaurant. We were seated quickly, and our server was prompt, friendly and attentive. We started with the crab finger appetizer, which was amazing to the palette. After, I ordered the Bronzed Grouper and my husband ordered the fried shrimp. The bronzed grouper was phenomenal and the fried shrimp tasted as if it had just come off the boat. We loved the light breading on the shrimp and again, both shrimp, grouper and crab fingers were amazing! The portioning was perfect for us and the prices extremely reasonable! Highly recommend eating at Cobalt's when in the area of Gulf Shores & Orange Beach!

Cobalt's is such a fun spot - and really indicative of the vibes in and around Orange Beach. The food is great, and the service is some of the best I've had in a long time! There's a huge free parking lot attached to the restaurant, which is always a perk worth calling out. A big heads-up that if you're looking for a quick dining experience, this isn't the place. Cobalt's doesn't take reservations, and you will wait at least an hour (but maybe closer to two hours like we did). However, there's a bar outdoors that you can grab drinks from while you wait, and the view of the bay is beautiful enough to keep you occupied for a long while. When we were finally seated inside, our server Tyler greeted us like we were long lost friends and shared all of the day's specials, along with several menu highlights. He made it clear to us that there was no wrong order, and after sampling a good bit of their menu, I have to agree with him. I also want to say that the great service we received from Tyler made up for the long wait just to get to our table ... and then some! I ordered the fresh catch of the day, which was swordfish. I opted to have it prepared grilled, and it was cooked perfectly and served with buttery green beans and a Cajun-inspired rice. Our group of seven tried a little bit of everything, and I'm not exaggerating when I say every bite was delicious. From the halibut special to the grouper to the steak to the tuna ... it was all extremely fresh and full of fun flavors. P.S. If you're a fan of oysters, these are some of the freshest I've had. Straight from the Gulf! Definitely worth tacking on a few to your meal.

NEVER do I fail to eat here at least once a year when I visit and NEVER do they fail the impress the SHIT out of me. Not good quality tuna at all. Unsure if it was on the verge of being old/bad/rotten or just not a good quality piece of fish.

The ambiance was great, great views of the bay outside. It was a large restaurant, with lots of movement and noise. The service was decent enough. Our waiter had a "I'm too good for you" attitude. The food was decent enough, nothing fantastic to write about. I will say that my tuna salad should not have been brought out to any table. The salad itself was good, but the tuna coloring was off. I did not eat the tuna, I just ate the salad surrounding. I did not send it back, although I should have alerted the waiter and kitchen staff. Everyone else seemed happy with their food. My daughter said her pizza was amazing. She laughed that the pizza was so good at a seafood restaurant. For the price of everything, our waiter should have been nicer or at least put on a happy face. The amount of times he rolled his eyes at the questions from our table was unreal.

Great waterfront location. Service was friendly. Great food choices. We ordered the shrimp appetizer similar to bang bang shrimp and it was very good, nice flavor. For dinner I ordered the pizza, and it is probably not the best choice at a waterfront seafood restaurant, but it was lacking in flavor and a little dry. Would love to go back and try something else.

This is a huge restaurant and the atmosphere is beautiful!! The menu has some similar offerings as some of their other restaurants and I love that. The Cosmos BBQ Crab Claws can also be ordered here and that is my favorite!! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed Cobalt on Mother's Day! We went about 3pm, after the special buffet, and the table service was outstanding! They were out of oysters but that's understandable given it was a big day. I ordered grilled snapper, my wife had shrimp and grits, and son had bronzed grouper. The grilled snapper was delicious as were the sides and the fish shined through! Our son devoured his grouper and risotto dish and clearly enjoyed it as well. My wife's shrimp and grits were unique in our experience with the shrimp grilled on skewers, a strong presentation and dish as well! The drinks were happy hour priced but really tasty and well received! read more

More of an upscale restaurant, come in on a nice day and enjoy the large patio with Gulf views! Offering an extensive food and bar menu. I'd recommend the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer. A battered crispy shrimp in an orange umami sauce. Very tasty! For a meal, I opted for the catch of the day: a local caught Amberjack fish grilled, with jambalaya rice and fresh green beans. This was excellent! Just remember to ask your server about daily specials. I have been to Cobalt many times and always have a pleasant experience. read more

Welllll we have been trying many years on our vacations to come here for the infamous burgers....finally made it only to be so disappointed... We were seated at 1:12pm....our server was so friendly knowledgable We order some appetizers and our lunch... Tables seated after us were getting their food 35 mins passed I waved the server over....no food just yet:-( My burger arrived less the topper, my husbands arrived soooo over cooked it was pathetic. Sent the burger back but at this point way order something else and wait?? Runners may be the challenge but ultimately the server needs to be aware who's got what who doesn't and checking in... I know I won't get my husband back there so all around a loss:-( read more

Wow this place was suggested by a real estate agent we met and it did not disappoint! Checked off all the boxes- outside water view seating with a dolphin sighting, Superb service by Sasha and the best lunch we have had on the island!Absolutely beautiful restaurant and the shrimp and grits were perfect for lunch and my husband loved the po boy sandwich. To end it all the creme brulee was a generous size and a superb crunch top!! Definitely will come back and recommend highly! read more

I came two days in a row! The first night I visited I had the pan seared grouper with the brussel sprouts. It was fantastic. The water was calm and the atmosphere was relaxing. The service was good, and server was very knowledgeable about the menu. The next day, I really wanted seafood again, so I decided to stop in for lunch before heading home. I'm so glad I decided to stop. The catch of the day was Amberjack which is my absolute favorite, so I had blackened amberjack with brussel sprouts. Iykyk. Brussel sprouts are my jam! The service was great at lunch, too! Overall, 5/5! Definitely will return when I am down in the area. read more

This place is delicious, and perfect spot to watch the comings and goings of the pass. We enjoyed an early dinner while watching the boats and birds in the water. The flavor and preparation of the food was on point. I like that they offered pizza since my kiddo doesn't like seafood. The favorite of the night were the pistole and gnocchi, but everything was great! They have a gift shop inside with Knick knacks along with a sweets counter. On our final night in OBA, my group of four wanted a spot with live music for appetizers and drinks. Cobalt, just steps from our Airbnb condo, was the perfect choice. Earlier that day, we'd taken refuge there from a downpour after our Dolphins Down Under boat tour, huddling under the tiki hut where the band later performed. When we arrived that evening, I dropped my group at the entrance and, as luck would have it, snagged a nearby parking spot. Initially, we entered through the back and sat at a cushionless bench--definitely not ideal--so we moved to a table near the bar. Noticing a crowd waiting for tables inside and no service at our spot, we realized we'd entered the wrong way. Just as I was about to join the line inside, four bar seats opened up. We settled in, ordered appetizers and cocktails, and enjoyed the band's performance. Next time, we'll stick to the front entrance! read more

I'd def be prepared to wait for a table if you're going to Cobalt, at least an hour. They told us the wait time would be 2-2.5 hours but I don't think we waited the full 2. Server was amazing. My grandma did not like her meal (burger) and she didn't make her pay for it. I got the chicken pasta and it was very good and after tax was $23. Others got the fish platter and liked it as well. We sat outside and it was so pretty. I recommend going at sunset! read more

CELIAC DISEASE be warned. Looked up the menu before going and was excited to see a gluten free menu. The gluten free menu is just a list of all the food items on their regular menu that are gluten free. I saw they had crab claws on the gluten free menu on their website so I decided I wanted those before I even got there. We were seated and never offered a gluten free menu but I didn't mind because I knew what I wanted. I ordered the crab claws sautéed. After eating about 4 and not feeling so good I asked the waitress if there was gluten in the sauce that they smothered the claws in. She said that they used to be gluten free but they started adding flour to thicken it. I told her I was celiac and she got her manager. The server was super sweet but the manager came over and told me that it was my fault for not asking for a GF menu before being seated and that even though on their website they are the same, it was still my fault for not asking for a separate menu. She asked me if I was asked if I needed a special menu by the hostess and when I said no she proceeded to tell me that it was my fault for not asking the staff. They said they would comp some of it for "my mistake" by taking 20% off the market price (about $35 I believe) which was about $6 off the whole thing. My stomach has been hurting and bloated since. I would suggest that under the GF menu on the website - maybe put a disclaimer that customers have to track down their own special menus and not base their order off of the GF menu on the website. read more

We come to The Cobalt once a year and it never disappoints. The food is always fresh and the wait staff is always very patient and courteous. Tonight we had about an hour and a half wait for inside dining, but they seated us much faster than originally thought. We waited outside and listened to the band and had a glass of wine. We were seated about 30/45 minutes early. I had the raw oysters and Surf and Surf. My wife had the crab claws and lobster bisque. My oysters were great and my wife said the bisque was the best she's ever had. Our waiter had a very large table, but somehow he was always attentive to us. Great everything and we'll be back next year. read more

We had dinner at the cobalt last night. We were told the wait would be two hours but our table was ready in 40 minutes. We listened to live music while we waited for the table. Shrimp and grits was great. Also the firecracker shrimp appetizer was a very generous plate for four to eat waiting for dinner. read more

next song place for a nice seafood dinner. We were quoted 90 minutes on the wait time; however, we had a table in 15 minutes. The girls had fried shrimp platters with cheese grits and mashed potatoes. The grits were amazing. My wife had some basic fried fish, which was good. I had the bronze grouper on top of Parmesan risotto - amazing dish! The barbecue shrimp appetizer was good. All in all an excellent dinner. read more

I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. The most important thing, is to have the ability to empathize with your guests, and make their experience a good one. If there is an issue with cross contamination in your kitchen, then create an area in the kitchen solely to address those with food allergy needs. For example, when your customer tells you the sprite has no flavor, you don't just come back and tell them it looks fine to me and everything is hooked up. Try tasting it yourself and at least bring a new cup of it to the table. Don't come back empty handed. Then there was the Crab Cakes. After all of the seafood places I have been to in the southeast I found these crab cakes to be just so so. If you are going to deep fry them, please understand that the crab meat will turn to the consistency of tuna salad and is not pleasant to eat whatsoever. Perhaps skip the breading/deep fry and pan fry them instead? While the breading on the crab cake was crisp and delicious, it was a little off setting to have mushy crab on the inside. Again, this was a beautiful venue with a great view. I am troubled by the lack of attention to detail, especially when it comes to addressing your guests.

Everything!! I ordered the Delmonico Ribeye, it came with smoked cheddar mashed potatoes, brown butter green beans and port demi-glaze. I got my lovely plate and cut into my ribeye, dipped my very first bite into my portfolio demi-glaze and pulled out the most luscious long brown hair. Of course the waitress was called to the table immediately, my plate was handed off to what appeared to be a shift leader, who then told the kitchen chefs to redo my entire meal immediately. I patiently waited, and waited and waited and so on and so on and so on, while my waitress checked multiple times and then got a manager involved, (30 minutes later). He came to our table and offered me a dessert for my trouble when my entire family were already finished eating their meals and ready for checks, I still didn't have my replacement food. Getting offered a dessert was insulting. I told him I just wanted my food without a hair in it. He said to me he will put a rush on it and he will give me half off my check. Another 15 minutes went by and I finally received my food. At this point, I was no longer hungry. I just wanted to leave. I went to this restaurant with a large party of 18 people. We ordered a lot of appetizers, a lot of drinks and a lot of food. We had just one person waiting on us. She was very overworked. For a large party, she needed more help with our table. Well, it's finally time to leave. We received the check. WOW, the insults just keep coming. I did not get half off of my check. That wannabe manager was only going to give me half off of my meal that I had to return and then wait 45 minutes for. I did end up not paying for just my food. The management at this restaurant does not manage very well and definitely does not hold up to what they tell their customers. I do not recommend this place. read more

We were so excited to come to Orange Beach and have a good time with our LGBTQ friends !! We passed the 2 and a half hour wait to be seated and decided to sit at a table at the outside bar. We were excited to be warmly greeted by a server who was Transgender named Jamie, she started us off with drinks and when SHE politely communicated to the bartender named ROHAN what we would like she was totally dismissed by her legal chosen gender and referred to as a he !!!! Being that we are a loving and protective community we were a little in SHOCK, especially when she corrected ROHAN and he sarcastically referred to her as a he again !!!! Not only is this ignorant and hateful behavior but also it is an insult to our entire community!!!!!!! We have never been so insulted at a restaurant that should have higher standards and not ignorant and hateful employees!!!! We were so proud of her when she got a manager to speak with, and correct this horrible bartender who was uninterested and lazy at his job to begin with!!!! We will be sure to tell the Pensacola LGBTQ community that this is not a dining establishment that accepts all human beings of gender and race!!!!!! Although the food was enjoyable and Jamie continued to give excellent service ..... this bartender ROHAN should be fired!!!! Exceptional restaurant and business. Very attentive service in a comfortable setting. My wife & I had a few dozen half shells and a couple of beers in the outside dining area during happy hour. $6 bucks a dozen oysters and $1 drafts - hard to beat around here. The oysters used to be $3 a dozen and bigger but the oil spill has limited the supply of oysters for the moment. I hope they go back to $3. The more important story here is when paying the tab I left my credit card in the folio and didn't discover it till the next day. The returned it to me! Amazing! I'm pretty sure it was Dana (the wonderful bartender) who turned it in. To me this honesty just doubled the rating of a restaurant in a tourist town. We've been coming to the area for 30 years and this is my favorite restaurant by far.We will be back -- often. Karl is right! Spectacular view on the water, a band plays on the weekend nights, it's romantic but also is a great place to hang out for some appetizers and drinks. I've been twice now and the first time I had the filet, it literally melted in my mouth! One of the absolute best steaks I've eaten. I'm not much of a fish person so that's what I chose. The second time I got the white BBQ pork tenderloin with the Mac and cheese and greens. It was ok, I think it might have been a little over done though. We also got the cobalt caviar which is a corn, tomato black bean and pepper mix that they serve with tortilla chips and that was delicious!! The service was awesome and it's quickly becoming the place that me and my guy go to for a nice night out. It's about as expensive as you can expect for a place like that. You pretty much won't get out of there for less than 100 bucks for two people. But it's worth it read more

This was a wonderful meal! In fact it was so much better than any other place we visited while vacationing in the area that we went back a second day for late lunch. You have to time your visit during an off time to avoid long waits that near 2 hours. We had steak, chargrilled oysters which my husband ordered two days in a row. My steak was good, the mashed potatoes fabulous and the zydeco chicken was outstanding! That sauce!! We also had chocolate cake but the fried apple pie dessert was sooo good! I have got to say that my wife and I had a bad experience with cobalt restaurant the 1st. night we went there. But, I called the restaurant and spoke with Nick (one of the manager's) he begged us to come back and try something else. (On him) so, after convincing the wife, we went back today, we were vary pleasantly surprised. The food, and service was GREAT!!! Nick was a PLEASURE TO MEET AND TALK WITH. Cobalt totally surprised me. We had a minimal wait on a major holiday. We had an amazing waitress named Bree! The food portions weren't extremely large but we were all totally satisfied. The prices weren't outrageous either, not to mention being able to dine right beside the pass. It was my wife's birthday and Bree tried to make it a special one. She did a great job. Overall a wonderful experience. The very next night, I paid $100 more for poorer service at a more formal restaurant and no view. I wish we had returned to Cobalt instead. Cobalt has a wonderful atmosphere and has always been a go-to for us year after year on our family vacation. Last night was a disappointment. Simply just not worth the wait. Cobalt is superb for beach dining. I'm all about ambiance and it has it! Live music, beautiful deck with nice waiting chairs...pretty plants ...prettiest tropical flowers tended by someone who knows how. Pretty boats and bay. Our bartender so nice. He suggested a yummy rum Some were grumpy (maybe needed more help?). Great food. Spacious so I didn't feel that I was sharing anyone's air...important right now. Clean spacious restrooms. Oh yeah check in staff nice and lots of parking. Just be sure you are ok with a wait. read more

We went to Colbalt for an early dinner on Saturday...there was 7 of us (my parents live there) we always have a great meal and fabulous atmosphere! This time was no exception except for 1 thing...my mother has been diagnosed with early dementia so it takes her a while to order etc and our waitress Shantar was so sweet, so patience and she made my mother's time so AMAZING! She has struggled with all that comes along with the disease but Shantar was the best part of the whole experience! THANK YOU read more

A visit to Cobalt is a MUST when I go to the beach. The food is absolutely delicious! We were there Friday night, August 24,2018. We were lucky enough to get a hightop table at the outside bar. Our server, Dillon was amazing and knew the menu very well and we all took his suggestions and were so glad we did. Don't miss the opportunity if you are in the Perdido Key/Orange Beach area. It's a great place for "date night" because the sunsets are breathtaking. read more

I could NOT ask for a better experience. Ordered a Mojito: 10/10. Ordered their catch of the day (blackened swordfish with risotto): 10/10. Parents were with me and they appraised their dishes similarly. In particular, my stepdad ordered the fried platter with the BEST fried shrimp I've ever tasted. And we enjoyed it all on their beautiful patio with excellent service. If you're on vacation in Orange Beach, this place is a MUST. read more

We went with a four people party. The wait was 2 hours plus, it only took an hour, so we decided to grab a drink and head outside to enjoy the live music. "BRYCE" made it a point to make us feel like the only people in the place he took our drink order outside as well as made sure we were taken care of once our table was ready. We would not only recommend the cobalt but would also recommend "BRYCE". He did a fantastic job! read more

Cobalt was recommended to us by our nephew, who lives in nearby Ft Morgan. So good we went twice during our 5 day beach trip. Everyone loved their food. We had a variety of menu offerings and it was all delicious! My personal favorite was the Beef Filet Tournedos with potato cakes, greens and two perfectly fried oysters. Service was great. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend you give them a try! read more

Be prepared to wait an hour at minimum for a table, but it's so worth it! The tables were nicely spaced and the staff were wearing masks. The food was very high quality and the drink selection was great too (it also arrived very quickly). Loved the view of the water and our waitress was so friendly. If you're looking to have a fancy night out and spend some money on good seafood, do it here! read more

For starters our waiter, Dillon was not only super nice but super knowledgeable. He recommended the special, halibut, which 50% of the table ordered. Personally I ordered the appetizer of shrimp which was probably the best shrimp i've ever had. He was attentive and everything you could want in a waiter. We were beyond pleased with the food and service and can't wait to be back! read more

This restaurant is SO worth the wait. We were hesitant with a 2 hour wait time, we snagged a spot at the bar, had a wonderful started. Once we were sat we were greeted by our server Terry. He honestly made our dining experience SO wonderful. He was full of knowledge about the menu, checked on us in a timely matter. Huge thank you to Terry for making our time so enjoyable. read more

Great atmosphere, great food, great service, great experience! My husband and I had dinner, and we both agree this was our favorite night on our vacation. I had fried shrimp; my husband had raw oysters, crab bisque, and a specially made grouper sandwich. The sandwich was not on the menu, but our waitress talked to the chef. Highly recommend! read more

Arrived around 6:30pm and the wait was over an hour. Kinda crazy and it's not even summer yet. Local to the area so wasn't expecting such a long wait but besides that everything was great. Oyster combo plate was delicious and the tuna stack was amazing. Our server was very friendly and it was a nice evening. I never leave disappointed. read more

We came here for a special date night and this location truly delivered! The views from our seats were magical, especially accompanied by our delicious drinks and appetizers.
