So I was in the area and wanted to try thus place out. Needless to say I stood at the register to order food to go for at least 7 minutes. I made eye contact with the bus boy, bartender, and two cooks. No greetings, no hello, no acknowledgment what so ever. I stood there for another two minutes and everyone carried on with whatever they were doing and acted like I wasn't even there. Even a dine in customer made a face to me about the staff ignoring me. The food is OK, especially breakfast but expect flies hovering all over you and your food. This is the only restaurant that keeps the patio door open to let bugs fly in. The waitresses and owners are very friendly and nice. read more

Took a chance on this place. It was ok. I typically frequent the Gourmet Pie, so I had to try not to compare it to them. Friendly wait staff. Nothing really stood out to me about this place and I didn't love the pancakes we tried. I thought my eggs were fluffy and perfectly cooked. Bacon was...well, bacon. Cooked pretty deliciously though. My daughter said "it was ok, not great" when asked about her dish. So, the cost was a little higher than I thought the food deserved. read more

If it wasn't for Tony, I wouldn't see this place lasting another month. 10am on a Thursday, we were the only two people there until two gentlemen came in a few minutes after us. We walked in and were barely greeted by a lackluster blonde who - in the most monotone voice - said "hello, sit wherever you'd like", so we did. She gave us our menus and brought our drinks and that was the end of her "service". She did the same with the gentlemen who followed us in. A few minutes later, Tony appeared from the back and took the two gentlemen's orders. We were still sitting at our table, menus in front of us, searching for someone to notice us. As we were getting ready to get up and walk out, I heard the blonde ask Tony if our order had been taken. I've never seen someone run over to a table so quickly. Clearly, she had forgotten about us. After we placed our orders and waited for our food to arrive, we noticed that Tony does EVERYTHING around this place. The blonde soon had company, another male server with glasses. We watched in awe as they sat behind the counter, chit chatting, paying no attention to any of the tables that had been seated/greeted (by Tony). Not to mention, it being my first time, I wish I would've been greeted by Tony. Hearing "Hi, happy Thursday, welcome, sit wherever you'd like" would've made me a little more excited about my visit instead of the drier than burnt toast greeting I actually received. As our observing continued, we watched Tony bring out food, clean the glass door, refill drinks, seat parties, and enter orders. Randomly decided to try this place while searching for breakfast spots. The scramble was pretty good, but I wish they added maybe one more egg to make it more filling. The salsa that they give with it is 10/10! Someone here posted a photo of the Frisco burger and I knew I had to try it. It was delicious, especially with their onion rings. It gets warm in there from the sun, even with the shades being down. Another con is that while it seems fairly clean as a whole, the tables/seats can be wiped down better. There's also a lot of flies when sitting along the wall. The only reason why it's getting knocked down an extra star. It got pretty annoying swiping them away. Other than that, this place is not bad. One would never guess how good the food is here. The location is not easily visible from the street so this place is sort of like a "hidden gem", so to speak. Anyway, I would like to try more items on the menu as there's a decent variety. However, I'm not afforded the extra time on my lunch hour to actually take my time and savor my meal. The burgers look amazing, but I have yet to try one. I always get the tacos and the rice since it's quick and easy. I've mentioned to the waitress (I believe more than once) that their rice tastes just like my mom's. And it's obvious that there's a bunch of "regulars" frequenting the establishment. The first time I dined here I had the fajita quesadilla and it was heavenly! I devoured half of it, and took the other half to go! There's also something special about their salsa. It's more on the spicier side, but despite a runny nose I can't get enough it. I highly recommend this place and you will be glad you tried it. Cafe del Sol and Russell's Burgers live again. This restaurant traces its origins to the Original Russell's Burgers in Long Beach and Seal Beach. The hamburgers are the best beef grind and actually taste like beef. The Cafe del Sol on Katella closed a while back and has been sorely missed. The Family and service crew are back with Cobian's. My three favorites are: No. 1 Frisco Burger, big and juicy a 5 napkin burger No. 2 crispy Tacos al pastor, great tact, bean and rice plate. So glad the owners of the old Cafe del Sol have resurfaced in this new and better location. They are very friendly and attentive here, and I had the best mushroom and swiss burger I have had in at least 10 years. Reasonably priced, and I love getting a Coke served in a large Ball jar. We could not wait to try the new place. Very easy to find and plenty of parking. Impressed with all the room inside. Same great menu... we each ordered our favorites. We had a Frisco burger, BLT, club sandwich, double cheese burger, and the mushroom Swiss burger. All were yummy. Burgers just the way we remembered them. Onion rings were perfect. All of the sandwiches and breakfast items like french toast, pancakes, and etc, they're all good but except the this one steak. We ordered the filet mignon and it tastes horrible. First they made the steak well cooked when we ordered it medium. Then when they got the order right the steak tasted really bad. I really like the wings, chicken sandwich, and the french toast. I've eaten here twice and have attempted to eat here again on several occasions. Their Yelp says they are open 8 to 8 seven days a week. They are not. We tried to eat there on a Sunday in the middle of the day. They were closed. We tried to eat there on a Saturday around 2 pm. Closed again. We tried to place an order to go and the phone just rang and rang until it disconnected. Who runs a business like this?? How can you have a successful restaurant when you're never open?? We'll be finding a new place to go. This is beyond frustrating. read more
