Tacos, Tamales and Tortas, Oh My!!…read more Not a traditional Tex Mex taco place, they offer traditional tacos but also some fusion tacos as well. I love how they incorporate local flavors, and how they frequently update their menus. This past holiday season, I had the pleasure of enjoying their limited selection and special of tamales, they offer ones with pork, red sauce, green sauces and vegetarian. All kinds offered were absolutely amazing and delicious. Services is always fast, efficient and friendly. They play music at their locations and everything is always clean. I am a personal fan of their juices and cocktails. You'll love them if you love tacos, traditional and new fusion flavors. Check them out.

They got my order wrong because they literally couldn't hear me. It was so loud it was an occupational hazards for the workers. I love music and I liked the music they were playing but it was overwhelmingly loud, louder than any nightclub, concert. I play loud music and this was excessive. Diff not enjoy my food and rest of the day I had splitting headache. They do have outdoor seating, which I would have used but the weather was not permitting it. I don't expect to return.

You order at a counter and are given a number to display at your table. Our food took only a few minutes to arrive. The server also brought over a box holding three salsas in squeeze bottles. The green salsa was pretty mild and the orange one was super hot. The dark one was, I think, chipotle. I didn't care for the chipotle. The tacos looked great and were each pretty packed with ingredients. Pollo tacos - I thought the chicken was a bit dry and, because of that, disappointing. Veggie - The veggie were filled with cooked onion, mushroom and peppers. Although they were well prepared and held a lot of veggies, there was no seasoning, so the taste was pretty flat/boring. I had to rely on adding guac and some salsa for flavor. I was hoping the veggie would have some flavor without having to rely on sauces. Al Pastor - was very good. Guacamole - comes "market price". The side we got was $3, which I think was a good value. The guac was flavorful and was a nice portion. I am glad I had it to supplement the disappointing Veggie taco and the dryness of the Pollo. The corn tortillas were good. The place is nice and comfortable.

The inside is pretty…read moredark (which is fine with me, but a bit surprising that the owner would want it so dark), but on a nice evening (like tonight), the outside seating (small, only 4-5 tables) is delightful. Not fancy, but nice and comfortable tables with huge umbrellas to block the sun. The food here is good. In the past, we got the Platter for 2 ($27), which is a nice sized platter of wood fire grilled steak, chicken, sausage and shrimp with rice/beans/salad and tortillas. We couldn't finish it all and it was all delicious. No complimentary chips and salsa for the table, so tonight we ordered chips and guac to start. The guac was good with chunks of tomato, onion and avocado; it would have been nice to also get some salsa with it when you order the guac, but there's a separate charge for chips/salsa. For entrees, we got a Carne En Vara and Carne Asada. The En Vara is a skewer of chicken, beef, onion and green peppers, with rice/beans and a side order of arepitas (corn fritter). Everything was well prepared. I liked the arepitas. The Asada was a decent piece of beef that was well prepared. Came with rice and beans and flour tortillas. The service was very good. We were seated and received ice water promptly. The guac came out quickly as did the entrees, but not rushed. The server came by a couple of times to see how we were doing snd she refilled our waters. This is a "Latin" restaurant, and maybe I'm used to the ubiquitous Mexican restaurants that place salsa on the table, and I will say I missed it and didn't want to have to spend $3.95 for salsa. There were a couple of times when I would have liked to dip some of the meat into a sauce/salsa. They do put a bottle of Habanero hot sauce on the table when you sit down. The entrees tonight were good, but if you want to try the fire grilled meats, for value I recommend the Platter for 2.

To begin, I ordered the 8oz guacamole with freshly made crispy tortilla chips. For my main course, I sampled from the single taco selection: the Birria, Smash Burger, Chorizo, and Carnitas tacos. Each taco was a masterpiece, featuring a crispy tortilla that appeared to be dipped in a savory sauce. The portions offered a perfect balance, packed with compact flavors. I MUST highlight the Loaded Fries with Steak--they arrived perfectly crispy and were generously topped with steak and a delicious secret sauce. Of course, I had to try the Flamin' Hot Elote Loco in a cup. Unlike many places where the corn lacks freshness, Big Papi's elote was unmistakably fresh and utterly delicious. For dessert, the hot, crispy churros were the perfect sweet finale. A special thank you to Jorge and Edward for their exceptional service. Their attentiveness and warmth truly elevated the experience. As a huge sauce enthusiast, I deeply appreciated the wide variety available. I LOVE IT WHEN I GO TO BIG PAPI, I ONLY LIKE IT WHEN MY TACOS COME REAL SAUCY. Thank you so much to the entire team for an excellent dining experience. I cannot wait to return!

I ordered carryout, including a pulled chicken Gordita, a pulled goat meat Gordita for the same amount, some chicken tacos (soft flour shell with white meat grilled, chopped chicken topped with very little), and the Tacos Dorados (fried tacos stuffed with shredded chicken and topped with green salsa and cheese). Pictures are from when I got home with my food. Needless to say, for $32 or so (which includes a 20% tip), I had enough food for 3 meals. The Gorditas, while not necessarily healthy, definitely fill you up. The Tacos Dorados were very good for a late night, post drinking (water, of course!), dinner, and the chicken tacos were excellent for a next-day lunch. Accompanying my food were two different sauces -- a red sauce that did not have much flavor, but was scorching hot on the palette and a green sauce that was very tasty and moderate in heat. Overall, an outstanding choice for authentic Mexican food that was very, very good.
