Visited the Coco Deck on our first night staying in Ka'anapali. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, promptly offered water, and our order was taken by the server. The birria tacos were delicious as was the queso and chips. Our table was outside on a lovely evening. The lights strung above made for a pleasant dining experience. Recommended. read more

Disappointing dining experience. Like, I'm certain I have never had a bad fish taco in my life...until the day I dined at Coco Deck. Moreover, how is it possible to have bad fish in Hawaii??! Whatever the case, Coco Deck figured it out. My friend and I both ordered the same thing and were both incredibly disappointed. She was able to force herself to force herself to eat most of her three tacos but I barely got through one. Meaning I paid a good chunk of change to go home hungry. Our server also didn't want to communicate with us or otherwise thought nodding her head was sufficient in place of responding with "yes" or "no." I ordered some type of breaded dessert with coffee ice cream which didn't disappoint, but also wasn't redeeming enough to overshadow the balance of the disappointing meal. This restaurant was previously known as Duckine before the 2023 fire. It was one of the few restaurants to survive and is located behind Lahaina Cannery Mall. Good atmosphere, good food, drinks looked awesome but not worth the price. Make sure you check your check, we had 6 people and got charged a large party automatic 20% in addition to 4% "kitchen fee." It was over $50 in charges, we had a great waiter and would have gladly tipped that if not more. Everything was great except it's too hot in the restaurant. We came for happy hour and had the ceviche, margaritas, tacos and the southwest salad with Mahi. The food was all outstanding fresh and flavorful and the price was super reasonable! The ceviche was ahi and came with plenty of homemade seasoned chips and it had an avocado salsa base perfect with the lime. The southwest salad was like a Cobb and honestly didn't even need the dressing! Mahi was cooked to perfection! The 5 dollar margs can't be beat! And we finished with the likkikoi sorbet. Huge big screen and we watched MNF. Our team won which is always a plus! Our host and server were great and VERY attentive. The only downside was that it was very warm in the restaurant and we had a large machine blowing warm air on us. They need some AC on the place. Otherwise.... We split the Delicious dessert....Coco Toast w/Coffee Ice Cream! Based on everyone's feedback, I'd recommend ANY of the 3 dishes we had. Second visit and still just as impressed! Customer service here is consistently warm and welcoming. We came in to catch the MLB playoffs and were immediately seated at a great bar spot. Shoutout to Zig the bartender, who had the game on with sound in no time--huge win! We lucked out with happy hour and ordered margaritas, fish tacos, and ceviche--all absolutely delicious. Their in-house Hot Boy hot sauce is next-level and really tied everything together. Brian, another server, swung by several times just to chat. Super friendly and made the vibe even better. Was not too impressed by the food. We came here on Christmas Day to get their Christmas special, which was a roast beef dinner with roasted vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. The roast beef was quite tough, and the whole dish wasn't that hot. They also didn't put gravy on the Yorkshire pudding. We did not all get the special, so below is some separate reviews on the other food. The ramen wasn't good really, very bland. The loaded fries were quite limited and unimpressive. The coco loco was quite sour, seemed like the ratios were off. However, the fish here was good. The mahi mahi was perfect, as were the fish tacos, which also had mahi mahi today. Again, every time I visit Maui, I gotta visit coco deck aka the old DUCKINE. Phenomenal food, great service, and the scenery is perfection. We came here for lunch after hearing all the rave reviews about the assassin chef. Sweet location, across from Mala Ocean Tavern with a cute patio and ocean views. The construction noise ruined a bit of the ambiance with the constant jack hammer and drilling, otherwise we had fabulous service and super fun food and drink. Love the funky fries offering, and you can get them loaded (a must). Their 3 house hot sauces are awesome. We tried almost everything - wings, device, poke nachos, birria ramen with marrow, fish and chips, fish tacos, thr french toast dessert and the seasonal pumpkin dessert. We thought the savory could use a little salt (esp the ramen) but really a matter of preference there. Their cocktails and mocktails are delicious (the coco loco and ube lemonade :P).
