Really good iced coffee, I got it with hazelnut flavor. But, oh, my, god! The apple fritters are to die for. Just a perfect balance of apple and donut goodness. Plus! In my opinion, Coco makes the best doughnuts in town. They don't get crazy and reach for flavors that don't work. They don't make you pay for the any "cool" factor. Average donuts. Nothing real special. Counter help is a bit snotty.. wouldn't let me buy all of the apple fritters. They limited me to 1-2. Thought that was odd....there were only 4-5 fritters. Wanted them for an office meeting. If you're selling donuts and someone wants to buy them all.. sell them all!! First rule of business is not to talk yourself out of a sale. They're close and I do love the space. I work a block away and luckily the donuts aren't special enough to make we want for them during the week. I'll stick to Heavenly Donuts. read more

Simply excellent classic donuts. We came in about 9:30 am on a weekday and there was still a good selection. They were out of a few varieties, but just in time, some new ones arrived. The staff was super friendly and the seating area was simple, but clean and comfortable. The donuts aren't anything crazy or super innovative, but they are really good. The lavender glaze was interesting, the buttermilk's were excellent, but I really loved the maple bar. It's also admirable that they have a drip coffee that doesn't taste like brown water. I enjoy their donuts, when they are fresh, but I had to learn the hard way, to not buy your coffee supplies from a donut shop. I purchased a Chemix drip coffee pot from them and after only having it for a few months, the spout cracked just with pouring water into the pot while making coffee. When I spoke to a manager at the shop, I was told to contact Chemix for this issue. Chemix informed me that Coco Donuts is NOT a company they have an agreement with to sell their products. Chemix apparently deals with this a lot and offered me a replacement that had a minor cosmetic defect for $20. I contacted the same manager and told him all of what the representative from Chemix told me, and the fact that if they did have permission to sell their products, Chemix would have replaced my pot for FREE. He told me it wasn't his problem and I was stuck with a broken pot, but he would let the owners know. Of course the owners never contacted me. The lesson here is DON'T BUY CHEMIX PRODUCTS FROM COCO DONUTS. I also no longer frequent their business. It may not mean anything but I wouldn't want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. read more

Cocos was the best, I mean really, the best donuts in Portland. I went twice a week for over a year and bought my coffee beans from them. I loved the place. But in 2017 it went downhill. They never have decaf beans anymore and sometimes don't even have decaf on hand behind the counter. They used to have the lightest and fluffiest donuts around but today I had one that was undercooked and had raw dough in the middle. I used to like talking to the staff but now it seems there are new people every week. The sell out of the best donuts quickly and have trouble maintaining inventory. The tables are sticky. But they were the best in Portland. Hopefully they can reclaim that title. read more

Blue might be better quality but they're way over priced and Voo just isn't good...at all, but they are great for tourists. So stoked for a SE location (Sellwood/Brooklyn)! I haven't been to this location. But I was at World Cup Coffee on Gilsan St. They serve Coco donuts. I took one look at them; apple fritter and some Boston Cremes. They looked fucking amazing. So my wife and I got one of each. Holy god. Delicious. Texture and taste just total perfection. Can't wait to come back to Portland to go to the actual shop. We have Krispy Kreme in San Francisco. Waste of time, money and calories. Also...Voodoo Donuts - no thanks. I'm all over Coco. read more

I live nearby and have been past it many times, but finally stopped in last weekend. Seriously the best donuts I have ever had! Like the other reviews very light and fluffy with the perfect sweetness. I'm very traditional when it comes to donuts, I like the sugar and glazed, and the crumb donut is outstanding. My only small gripe is they don't have any powdered sugar. Staff very friendly and genuine. Like I said before, they make very traditional donuts, if you're looking for edgy flavors and presentation probably better off waiting 3 hours in the rain at the other donut place. read more

A coworker brought these donuts to work today, and they were great. According to her, there were lots of options for donuts at 9am on a friday and there was no line at the store. The cashier was friendly and gave the donuts quickly. The original glaze donut was very tasty, because of the airiness and fluffiness. Definitely much more worth than Voodoo or Blue Starif you are looking for standard tasty donuts. Only $1 for a glazed donut, and $1.25-$1.35 for other donuts with toppings seals the deal. Delicious donuts! Light and fluffy - great batter! We just recently discovered that this was on this side of town and decided to give it a try. We hadn't found a good donut yet (Voodoo wasn't that impressive.) The lavender donut is delicious as well as the boston cream donut (the filling was perfect!) We've also enjoyed their jelly filled donuts; it's been too sweet at other places. The shop is rustic, calm, and not sticky. Please get some donuts at this donut shop! Great coffee, too! read more

Went in with some pretty high expectations...the service was lovely and the coffee was great. The donut on the other hand, not so much. I got the apple fritter and there were hardly any apples in it! It was also super hard, not soft and gooey like I love. I'll have to try some other flavors but I'd rather go somewhere else in town. read more

ATMOSPHERE: Smells like a donut shop, and I don't mean in a good way. I don't know if it's bad oil, poor ventilation, or what. I'm not saying it was revolting or anything, just a bit too strong. Definitely wouldn't want to work there. Big sidewalk-facing window was dirty, hazy, as if covered in a film. Maybe whatever's hanging in the air is clinging to the glass. It was like the windshield of a car owned by a heavy smoker. Layout was weird, quirky. I didn't care for it at all, but I'm sure some think it's cute, and I do commend them for being different. Anyway, the space definitely isn't utilized well. Capacity is low, relative to the square footage. SERVICE: Eh, it was fine I guess. I mean, you know, it's a donut shop. She seemed nice enough, no attitude. FOOD: Fritter was cakey, like what you might expect to find in the bakery case at a big grocery store, not crispy outside and tender/moist inside as a fritter should be. Left me belching up donut flavor all day. Know what I mean? Before Coco, I'd never had that experience from just one donut, nor have I had it elsewhere after two or three really good donuts. It's usually a too-many-bad-donuts experience. If I can't eat one Coco donut without regretting it all day, something is wrong. PRICE/VALUE: Don't remember, so I guess it was pretty average. OVERALL: If I was with somebody who really wanted to try this place, I'd maybe have a little nibble of something. It wasn't so bad that I would refuse to go back. Good donuts! Good prices, friendly service. In my opinion, much better than Voodoo's because it isn't stuffy nor do you have to wait in a forty minute line for donuts that aren't any better than any other donuts in town. They don't have crazy flavors like Voodoo's but they have every regular flavor/donut you want. And it used to be known that they're cash only, but for the record, they DO take credit cards/debit now! Coco Donuts at 814 SW 6th in Portland, Oregon was a VERY pleasant surprise. I read a review online about how much better Coco'c is than VooDoo and Crispy Cream, but I was skeptical. When I finally decided to try them, I was greeted by a friendly smile and a comforting, no hurry demeanor. Nichole was very kind and helpful, and turned what is often a rushed, and indecisive process into a smooth, enjoyable visit. Kwang (the artist that creates these tasty delights) was very thoughtful and knowledgeable when I called. IF these two wonderful people are the standard for this industry, the rest of the competition has a long way to catch up. And this is coming from a guy that rarely gives glowing reviews! :) read more
