Pork katsu. Rice and sauce
Amy W.

On the way back from a road trip to Paris, (sadly not the one with croissants, we are talking Paris Texas), we stopped in Frisco for an early dinner and found a winner. I came across this spot on Yelp where the reviews were glowing, though I will say the menu is a little confusing.... That holds true in person too, but thankfully there are photos to guide you, which helps a lot. Also worth noting, they offer 20 (twenty!!!) levels of spiciness, which feels both exciting and pretty intimidating. I went with the pork katsu curry with rice. The omelet dishes looked amazing too and I was tempted, but crispy curry & rice won the day. I told the waiter I wanted medium spice and said 5, and the server smiled and said he would give me a level 1. I laughed, but he knew exactly what he was doing because even level 1 had a solid kick. My hubby ordered the same dish with chicken and added veggies (and cheese(. He decided to be bold and went with a level 2. Honestly, mine might have even tasted spicier, but at that point it is all relative. We arrived around 4:45pm on a Saturday and it was easy to get seated. By the time we left, the place was completely packed and there was a line forming, which tells you everything you need to know. The pork was perfectly crispy, the rice had that ideal sticky texture, and the curry sauce was rich and generous. Every bite hit the spot.

Curry came out quickly, and it was very flavorful. Servers were attentive and checked on us a few times. There's plenty of seating available if you're wanting to walk in for dinner! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I liked how bright the interior was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Time to update because I literally crave the curries. Sometimes, I send a family member out a random times to drive all the way over to pick up the curries. I could absolutely eat this every damn day. Is this my top fave ever? Tied for number one (with Ovenhead Pizza)!!! Ah, Coco Ichibanya, you haunt my dreams in the most delicious way. Thank you for being so addictively delicious. Thank you for bringing the spicy.

The food was amazing ! Almost as good as it is in Japan. The service was great, very attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great experience overall.

I love a good omurice! The food came out fast and the portions are pretty big. The garlic naan is really good too.

First time trying CoCos.... In Texas lol I've been here 1 million times, from Japan to Taiwan, Hawaii to Korea, LA and more. It (just my opinion), is my favorite restaurant on earth. Service is amazing Food is amazing [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is ... well, it's ambiance lol[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Can't wait for the franchise to continue to grow and spread across the USA, hopefully closer to my little corner of Texas

Chicken cutlet

Back in this place again. No wait today which was perfect because I was starving. I went with chicken cutlet with egg omelet and cheese. Need the extra protein. It was so good. And my spice level is only regular. I might get brave and try level 1 on my next visit. Lol. Customer service was spectacular per usual and dining in is great for girls day out or dine in with family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's also a bar like seating area next to the kitchen if you're rolling solo.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bring a jacket, it's cold inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Maybe I came in with really high expectations after having curry in Tokyo, or maybe we just had a cook with an off day, but both of our pork cutlets were completely dry and bland. I will say the service was quick, but the food was so bland made a 2 hour drive to this place and it was not worth it

Second time here. Absolutely love this place. Worth getting on the waitlist to avoid long wait.

The food is so good. Nice size portions, always flavorful and delicious. Service is good for the most part. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They stay pretty busy and the space is small so seating is limited, however it's so worth it![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Chicken cutlet omlette curry Chicken cutlet udon curry

Comfort food that you need to try!!! We got the udon and omlette curry with a chicken cutlet. The chicken was CRISPY and not oily at all and the curry was rich with flavor. The udon noodles were nice and chewy and paired well with the curry. I would say their service was pretty efficient and the inside was very clean. Oh also their spice levels range from 1-20. I got a 5 and as someone that likes spice but can't handle anything too crazy that was the perfect level - that was equivalent to a thai spice 3.5/5. We got the other one with level 8 which was indeed spicy but I think if you're someone with a high tolerance you'd be okay with it - that was a 4.5/5 on a thai spice level.

This curry house is top notch. My family came on christmas eve for an early dinner and we were able to be sat quickly as one big table (we got on the waitlist on yelp before arriving). The server was kind and even helped with explaining the spiciness of their curry scale. My husband got a level 8 (VERY hot!!) but i got a comfortable level 2 (you can taste the spice but not so much that my nose would run). The chicken was crispy on the outside, and the curry was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They offer chopsticks and forks/spoons, and the restaurant was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As someone who ate Coco's in Japan growing up, I can confirm this place knows how to make great curry! It's a must for all in the dallas area

Oh my goodness, i have been awaiting my visit to Dallas for the holidays solely on visiting the ONLY coco ichibanya in Texas. This place is cozy and has only seating for about 60 people, when we started driving, i added ourselves to the Yelp waitlist which did help but they're always busy and for good reason of a wait time so get yourself smart so you don't have to wait once you get there and stand around with your party. The food is mainly Japanese curry, which is what they are known for, the abundant selection in protein, add ons, and spice level was great, especially looking at the fun kids plates and the staff greeting us warmly, with kids getting little gatcha toys for a fun little prize. I absolutely loved my chicken katsu cutlet and added veggies and husband got the curry omelette with rice, our little dude got the kids meal A with mac and cheese and fries and nugget and barely touched his curry. He did say it was tasty after one bite but has a picky Americanized pallet lol. Looking forward to our next visit because this place lives on my mind rent free now and im still drooling. :)

I've had the pleasure of eating ramen in Japan and yeah, NO. The reason for the 1 star is because we were the first ones in at 11 and the waitress came in sneezing and wiping her nose with her hand, with her child in tow who by the way was all over the place and many times just standing at our table staring at us eat. I kept watching her to see if she would wash her hands or at least use hand sanitizer but she neglected to do either. The ramen: We ordered the spicy garlic pork shoyu and the spicy chicken broth ramen. The garlic pork ramen had 1 small piece of pork belly and the noodles while a great consistency, tasted like cardboard. The broth suffered from the lack of flavor. The chicken ramen was also pretty flavorless. The nerve of someone to compare this place to Ichiran lol. I will say, the service from the chef and the nose wiping waitress was pleasant but the grossness of her wiping her nose and touching every chair, bowl, utensils and eating her chips at the table across from us with her toddler is enough for us to never go back to this place even if it was the last ramen spot on the planet.

Our server was very helpful and kind. We ordered chicken karaage for starters and garlic chicken broth ramen as the main course. The serving size is quite big. I saw a vegetarian dish on the menu but I'm not sure if the broth is vegetarian as well. There is lots of parking on site. We hope to return soon.

My shoyu ramen was very good, wonderful broth, great noodles and bamboo shoots, and a very flavorful soft boiled egg. The chashu was fairly small, but it was still a great bowl. My partner's tonkotsu was not as good as the shoyu. Nothing stood out as bad, but the broth was weak and the fungus was mediocre. It did have a very generous amount of chashu. The service was great and the atmosphere was impeccable. I will likely return.

We were seated quickly, and our waters were brought out right away. However, the menu here is different from the other locations I've been to, so I recommend checking it before you come if you're expecting specific dishes. They were also out of some of their noodles. We placed our order, and the karaage salad arrived first within about 10 minutes. Sadly, the ramen came out almost 30 minutes later and wasn't plated cleanly. There was broth all over the edge of the bowl, and I even think the server's finger was in the broth when she dropped it off. Additionally, the ramen was missing the egg, and the noodles were overcooked. One of the waitstaff seemed to be the only one actually working, as he was helping about 95% of the customers in the restaurant. Overall, I highly doubt I will be returning to this location anytime soon.
