It's been awhile, probably over ten years since I've been at this restaurant. Just like before, this place has good food, service, and ambiance. We walked into this place on a Saturday for a late lunch recently. Parking was easy, greeter was polite, and we were seated within a few minutes. The place was surprisingly still busy even for a late lunch. We ordered our drinks and food quickly. My go to drink is a Mojito and my wife ordered a Guava Margarita. For starters, we ordered the guacamole which came with a side of green salsa and side dish of tomatoes, onions, mango salsa. This was a big portion probably enough for four to five people. The salsa was refreshing and the guacamole was tasty and addicting. We were kinda full after trying to finish this dish. For entrees, my wife ordered the Ropa Vieja and I ordered the Lechon Asado. My wife usually orders Ropa Vieja at most Cuban restaurants so her expectations are a bit high. According to her, the dish was on par with the flavors she associates with this dish. I ordered the Lechon Asado which was delicious. The pork was moist and well seasoned and paired beautifully with the rice. Recently I've been trying to cut down on rice but it was hard to not pair it with each spoonful with the pork. They topped off the dish with bits of chicharon and of course a side of plantains. The yucca under the dish was slightly sweet and well prepared, but because of my low carb diet, I didn't indulge in this too much saving some of my carb calories for dessert. Overall the food is good and the price points are reasonable for the large portions. I would recommend this restaurant for those looking for a taste of Cuban cuisine. read more

Five stars for the most delicious food around. The ahi tostadas were so fresh and tasty. The waffle kids breakfast was abundant and my son Loved it. Waffles were homemade and fluffy (could use real maple syrup for better taste) the tropical mojito was crisp and refreshing. The seabass is the best I've ever had. A huge portion and the veggies, potatoes, green beans, plantains and spinach were a feast for the eyes and treat for the yummy. Flan was also incredible and beautiful. The views are gorgeous Lexie the waitress is so attentive, pleasant and made for an extra special time for us. Only complaint is $8 for parking but they said it's only in December. We had brunch here on a Sunday. I would have liked if the restaurant offered brunch buffet on Sundays, but I believe that brunch buffet is only served on Saturday. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. The table ordered a variation of Seafood paellas and for our drinks we also each had a Cuban coffee. The outside of the restaurant is where you can catch all the views of the surrounding area. Yes, you will see the always in construction 10 freeway, but you will also catch a beautiful panoramic view of the foothills and your loved ones ! We went to celebrate Mother's Day and the experience was incredibly frustrating because of our server, Geneva. From the moment we sat down, she seemed miserable and was extremely standoffish for no reason. Keep in mind this was a buffet, so she literally didn't have much to do except buss the food and touch tables, yet we were completely ghosted. She forgot to bring our drinks and touched our table a total of three times--never even bringing basic necessities like napkins or silverware. The real disrespect came when the bill arrived and an auto-gratuity was added. I always hook it up and tip well for good service, but when a server has a terrible attitude and blatantly ignores a table because she's lazy and knows she's getting paid regardless, it's a major problem. I especially hate when a server ignores you the entire time, then suddenly tries to swoop in right as you're getting ready to leave, asking if everything was okay as if they actually did a great job. It's a transparent, fake attempt to look busy only when the check is involved. To top it off, the auto-gratuity isn't stated anywhere on the menu, which is extremely shady and feels like a scam. The food was good. I enjoyed it. Although our server was very sweet and helpful, the overall service, bar etc, was slow and sporadic. My husband required a ramp so they put us in a room accessed by one but they sat us adjacent to it so that every time someone entered the room they were skirting the table. Seems as though they had too many events going at once. When we left the valet couldn't find my keys. Turned out they were left in my car. That wasn't very reassuring. This is a cute and cosy family restaurant but also has available space for parties and weddings at the balcony areas. First off there were ample of parking spots in their private lot. At the entrance way, there's a koi pond with a small man-made waterfall and a pair of parrots to welcome guests. The staff at the entrance was friendly. We made a reservation and wanted balcony seats but unfortunately they didn't have any seatings outdoor that day. They seated us at a table by the window where we can see outside. We ordered the trio plantanos and ceviche for starters, paella, palomilla, and the oxtail. The portions are big. The ceviche and trio plantanos are tasty. I preferred the ceviche because the citrus flavor of this cold dish was appetizing on a hot summer day. The diced fish in the ceviche had an interesting texture. My favorite was the paella. It came out steaming hot in a pan. It was loaded with a variety of seafood (prawns, shrimps, mussels, scallop, crab legs) and meat (sausage, pork, and chicken breast). It was super good! The oxtail and the frijoles were on the salty side, so definitely need to be eaten with the rice. The palomilla (sirloin) was a bit chewy. I asked for medium rare but it looked completely well-done. The biggest complaint I have is that after we were seated it took 10 minutes for the server to bring us water. While they had three servers pouring water and setting plates for a large empty table next to us. We also made reservation so it felt like just because we didn't have a large party our service was slow. In addition we ordered the entrees and it took 30 minutes for the food to come out. When the large party arrived (a while after we placed our orders), they ordered starters and drinks long after we ordered but their starters came pretty quick and our starters didn't even come after a while. I still don't understand the discrepancy in treatment we got. If service is better I would give them a 4 star. read more

Besides the amazing view, the service and food is amazing! I wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more :) We went crazy on appetizers which were great. Get the chicharrones y yuca, that was my absolute favorite! Papa rellena is always a hit. We tried the chicken croquetas, and those were ok. I would like to try the ham ones to see how those taste. I visited the Coco Palm last night for my birthday. We had a 530pm reservation on a Sunday evening. There was plenty parking and looked very glamorous entering the premises. The entrance is to the right of the parking area, not the one with the gate first. It's very beautiful as they have a koi fish pond and parrot. When we got to the front we were greeted and escorted to our lovely table with a view. The place is huge as I am aware they host events and weddings. There was actually a room at the end being used for an event as we saw balloons and many people. We were brought menus and water immediately. We decided to order guava margaritas to drink. We also ordered the chicharron (pork belly) con yuca for the appetizer. The drinks were strong!!! I felt the tequila come out of my nostrils lol! I highly recommend this drink as it is strong yet very tasty. The chicharron was good although I would order a different appetizer next time. I thought it was very greasy and had lots of fat. I guess I'm used to Mexican style chicharron which is crunchy and is less greasy if cooked correctly. So maybe it's just the style that threw me off but it was definitely not my favorite item. The yuca was very flavorful. I ordered the sea bass dish and my bf ordered the mar y tierra (surf and turf: lobster and filet mignon). The sea bass came with mashed potatoes and organic vegetables, carrots, green beans and squash. The sea bass was excellent, it had a mango sauce over it which added so much flavor, dimension, and craving to come back. It was so soft and buttery and went well with the mashed potatoes and veggies. My bf let me try the steak and I told him it was one of the better ones I had tried. I don't know why, but I liked it better than Ruth's Chris. Service was awesome, our server came back at appropriate intervals and was very polite and efficient. The Coco Palm offers great views as well. Our table was located right by the window and we could see far out, it looked so beautiful and romantic. We went to celebrate my husband's 89th Birthday at the brunch/lunch. The atmosphere was good and the view as always great. The servers were friendly and accommodating. However, the napkins at several plates had food on them as did our 1st table cloth, we assumed the food didn't come off when washed. The servers removed the napkins and gave us another table, but 1 napkin there was soiled. I went and replaced it myself. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as expected. Something has changed from the last time we visited a few years ago. Most of the meats were overcooked and the prime rib rub was way too salty. For the price...overall, this wasn't a good experience. We were kind and uncomplaining, just asked for cleaner table settings. We tipped our server nicely understanding it wasn't necessarily her fault, but I doubt we'll ever go back :( read more

We have tried to eat at this restaurant a couple times but could never make it. Glad we finally got to eat here and the experience was great! This is such a beautiful place on the hill. We were seated next to windows with nice views. They had two mocktails and I ordered both of them. Passion fruit and pina colada were so yummy and refreshing. For starters we had chicken noodle soup and guacamole. I didn't know Cubans ate chips too? The plantain chips were very hard to chew on though. For entrees we had paella and filet Mignon in rare. Also jalapeño as side and guava cheesecake as dessert. The food was so flavorful in huge portions. My paella was fully loaded with seafood and meats. Hubby's steak was cooked to perfection but he didn't like the rice much. Everything was just so delicious! We really enjoyed our food so much and the service was top notch too! I love this place, but since the moment that you make a reservation you can tell something changed. Not sure if is under new management, but since last time that we were there we were disappointed. Doesn't make sense why you can park your car ourselves. That doesn't make it any classier. We were there for a Cal Poly Pomona graduation late lunch/early dinner. I am all over the rating scale with this place, I think I'm sitting at a strong 3.5. 1) The view is fantastic, outstanding really. 2) The service was great, they were all super friendly and extremely helpful. 3) The food was both excellent and just okay. Here is where I waver. The bread and black bean dip basket is SO GOOD. Those beans are to die for. No joke. For dinner I ordered the sea bass. It was bomb-deli-icious, very buttery and cooked perfectly. There was a yucca mash under the seabass but it was a tad under seasoned. Probably just a personal flavoring issue. Other's in our party got the salmon, teriyaki fried rice, ox tails, pollo asado and steak. No one complained but no one but the other person that also got the sea bass raved about their food. Fancy restaurant but the food was a major disappointment I drove from OC to try Coco Palm for the 1st time. The ambience and decor were very nice. Unfortunately, that would be the highlight. The filet mignon was overcooked where it was medium well to almost well done. They relied heavily on the gravy to keep the steak from tasting dry (see picture). Horrible waste of a good cut of steak. If I wanted beef well done, I would have gone to In N Out for a double double. The hamburger would of cost $5 instead of $46 for the filet mignon. The worst was the dessert. It was supposed to be cheesecake but it tasted extremely stale like it was more than 2 weeks old. Everyone at my table was trying to figure out what the dessert was because it didn't taste anything like cheesecake. The dinner roll was also stale. I had to use a lot of butter to make the bread taste decent. The only thing that tasted good was the Caesar salad. The service was good. I really had high hopes given the previous reviews. We recently took the family to Coco Palm for an anniversary dinner. Everyone ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. Drinks were average, a couple of the appetizers were not bad, but for the most part were mediocre. The service was just average - nothing to write home about. The view of the city lights was nice, but that's not enough to make me want to return to this restaurant. There was one thing that absolutely ruined my dining experience - my dinner. I ordered the lechon asado. What I got was a plate full of fat. Literally, FAT, and it was cold to boot! I'm definitely not a picky eater, but this was absolutely disgusting! I was able to find two very small pieces of pork under the layers of disgusting fat on my plate. What kind of restaurant would allow this plate of nastiness to be served to a customer? I wouldn't feed that plate of fat to my dog, let alone a paying customer in a restaurant. I paid over $400 for dinner for six. Management should be ashamed of itself for allowing something like this to happen. I will never return to this restaurant. read more

My husband is allergic to peas, and I called to let them know and there were still peas in the order. He can't even eat the arroz con pollo so I was going to switch with him, but then the rice is mushy and the chicken plate only had a small chicken breast maybe 1.5 in by 1.5 in. We've gotten the same thing in person, and paid the same price, and the portions on my pickup order are significantly smaller than what I get in person. Didn't have time to be there in person for our anniversary dinner, so tried to call it in and they don't even accept phone orders, even if you follow their new policy and only pay with card. Also arrived on time after I placed the online order and still waited additional time without even an apology/ comment from the hostess. Overall super dissapointed with this experience. read more

We had a Company Dinner Event at Coco Palm on Friday night and I was so impressed by the whole team for their hard work in coordinating and organizing it with us. Working with the event Coordinator, Rhonda was an absolute pleasure--she was so well organized, responsive, and a breath of fresh air throughout the planning process. The space (the Tropicana Terrace and the Coco Room) was so beautiful, the food was exceptional, (especially the filet mignon, salmon and house made cheesecake), and although the Diamond package came with flowers, we upgraded flowers with Tutta Bella to tropical arrangements which worked perfectly for our Havana Nights theme. I held my wedding ceremony and reception at CoCo Palm Restaurant last month on a Sunday afternoon and everything was great. The catering sales manager who helped me throughout the whole process was Randi Reader. She was helpful and patient and always responsive to my emails and questions/concerns.
