Finally tried this place after years of vacationing in Marco - and we will definitely be back! Food was decently priced (big portions) & it was all delicious. The cocomo bread appetizer was only $5 and it was a whole loaf! It was so good. We also got calamari for an appetizer. I got the shrimp scampi & it was a huge portion I couldn't finish! The host was not great. we checked in and was told it was a 40 minute wait. We sat at the bar. These gals were cookin! We were served within minutes. We waited 45 minutes then approached the host who told us he texted us. He did not. We were seated shortly after approaching him. The wait staff was fantastic. Get the jalapeño crusted grouper!! Best grouper on the island hands down. We've been coming to Marco for years and a local told us about cocomos a few years ago and we've been coming ever since. This bar also will cook your fish for you if you have catch from your fishing excursion. COCOMO's was a nice little place where we had a nice dinner. It's located right on Collier Ave which is the main road through Marco, thus it's easy to find...and the parking is easy in-easy out. First thing I noticed was that the place wasn't full at all, maybe half full, so I was hoping it was just a slow night. We were seated immediately (obviously) and when the hostess put us at a table we asked for a booth...and we got a bit of a look from her-again, hoping it was a slow night, but don't drop an attitude as you're seating us. Anyway, our waiter was over quickly for a drink order and then gone for a while as we read the menus. BTW, limited beers on tap, 3 domestic 3-4 imported and nothing outstanding. Drinks took a few minutes to come back from the bar so we put in our order. My wife and I started with spicy crab rolls, but they weren't spicy at all. They were really just egg rolls that were very tasty and full of crab, just not spicy. We also had side salads all around. Their Caesar salad is a bit too lemony for my liking, but it was fresh, crispy, and cold! My daughter had the Shrimp scampi with cappellini and it was fabulous-the shrimp was fresh and done perfectly. Nice garlicky butter sauce that was flavorful, but not overwhelming. My son ordered the chicken parm-very large portion with linguini in a delicious red sauce. The chicken was actually done very well with a nice crisp on the outside and tender on the inside; however it was actially too cheesy (did I say that!?!). My wife and I ordered the Fresh Fish Jubilee, three types of fish with a baked potato and mixed squash as a side. So get this for a plateful of yumminess - blackened Mahi Mahi w/fresh salsa and key lime sauce, Yellowtail Snapper stuffed with shredded shrimp and crabmeat (OMG), and Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna topped w/wasabi mayo and sesame glaze (yeah, was as good as it sounds). The fish portions were perfect...each one just large enough so that all three filled us up and they were all very flavorful. The stuffing with the snapper was very good, but larger chunks of shrimp and crab would have been better. Overall we thought it was a pretty good meal. The decorations were a little odd, the menu was a bit, shall we say eclectic (I'd say it was all over the place), the service was a little slow, and it was a little pricey, but it's worth a try. I want to give them 3.5 stars, but I can't, so I will round UP with this one...too good to be just A-OK, but not quite a 4-star in my book. Maybe I need another try. read more

We have been eating at Cocomo's off and on for the past 10 years. I have to remember this is Florida and many either do not believe in Covid19 or just don't care. We went last night and there is some precaution taken: fewer tables, more spacing and some hand sanitizer. The hostess was masked. So too were the bus boys and food runners. The servers were not masked. Our server was a guy named Chris. He pretty much sucked as a waiter. Didn't know if there was a fish of the day, if there were specials, or if there was a steak sandwich( there is plain and straight forward on the menu). Said he'd ask and then never returned and when he did, he still didn't know. So we proceeded to ordered humus and falafel. The app arrived. The falafel were excellent. The hummus was average. It was served in a big ball. No olive oil, no parsley. The serving was huge. We asked for a box and he was annoyed. A few minutes later he just threw it at us. I was ready to leave. But it was 830pm and we were hungry. When he took our entree item we said thanks for throwing the container at us and asked what we had done. He had no response. Mumbled something unintelligible. We placed our orders. Seared tuna and the aforementioned steak sandwich. The tuna arrived mostly rare and was pretty good. Not enough wasabi and the seaweed salad had a nasty rotten taste and was inedible. The steak sandwich was served with fries and coleslaw. The sandwich was good, the fries were standard food service brand. The cole slaw was excellent. My thoughts about this place is the food is average and the service is awful. There are better places on the Island. It is out of season and there is no way the server should treat us crappy. For a number of reasons including service and masks, I won't be back for a while. My meal was REALLY good - Grouper Louis. Blackened grouper topped with a crab cake and a special lime sauce with black beans and rice. I even requested a little bit more of the lime sauce - it cooled the heat of the blackening and was wonderful. The seafood platter had a huge variety on it, and not all of the items were on par with the rest. Both the scallops and the calamari were a little lacking. But the sweet potato fries were above grade. It's difficult to do all of that well and get it all on one plate. The breading on the calamari was dramatically different than the other deep fried items - and not in a good way. Service is great, but it is also very loud. 3 stars is kind of a stretch but so many restaurants on Marco are completely average and extremely overpriced - this at least was decent food. Service and ambiance are very good so you at least feel like you are somewhat getting your $ worth. Had the crab cakes and grouper. Crab cakes had a lot of filler - couldn't taste crab meat at all. Grouper was nicely flavored - we all chose a different variety and Cajun was deemed the winner - mostly because grouper is so bland to begin with. The jalapeno sauce is good. Baked potatoes were only warm and tasted old - almost like it had been baked a day or two before and just warmed but barely. Run away if you want good fish meal! We should have gone with when at 4:45 restaurant was empty except for people sitting at bar for happy hour! They advertise as " Hogfish specialist " so I ordered it while I ordered grouper with crab cake. Her fish was deep fried whole which was Ok but the mixed vegetables that came with it looked and tasted like they were straight out of a frozen vegetable bag. My blackened grouper was the worst he's EVER had. The crabcake was mostly breading. Our dinner bill for two with no extras came to $75. We could've had a nice meal for the money we spent with tip($14 not servers fault food was poor) Needless to say we are not going back. Looks like it's another bar food place. read more

I have lived on Marco for two years and have never been. Tonight three of us went to the new location. I had high hopes of a more modern, slick, updated restaurant and well that was a disappointment. The island needs more inviting places. Interior design plays a huge part of that. Lake Park Diner or Lamoraga in Naples are two examples of fish current interiors. The mustard yellow walls and stuffed fish add nothing to the ambiance. That said I asked the waitress if the kitchen would butterfly the shrimp for shrimp scampi. The answer was, no. I switched to chicken francese and it was very good. Another order the grouper and he reported it to be very good. The third had the two pork chop dinner and I would say they were more pork medallions than an actual chop. His response was, not impressed with that place..I don't think I need to go back. read more

Being from Philly area I am use to something much different and never understand what the peppers and mushrooms are considered standard. ( In Philly its cheese and onions if your would like).
