Very sad to watch this place continue to decline over the years. The restaurant is outdated, yet the food and service always made the visits worth it. Not sure if we'll try again... We had our toddler granddaughter for church yesterday, and decided to make the drive to Redlands for lunch after. A bunch of small inconveniences turned the meal into a dismal experience. The hostess sat us in the back corner, which was perfect. We were 1 of only 4 tables occupied in the section. With the group next to us leaving shortly after we were seated. She had given us a childs menu, but no crayons. We were waiting to ask a server, but finally ended up asking the family next to us. They said they thought it was weird, but also weren't given any. When the server finally came she informed us they didn't have any crayons. We ordered a Pacific Omelette, a Meat Lovers Omelette, and a child's Quesadilla with veggies for the side. My husband and I both asked for our hash browns "crispy". I lalalalaloves their honey bran muffins, and was looking forward to having one (part of why I suggested going there). So you guessed it....they didn't have any. Their baker was out that day. Seriously?!? Only 1 person in the whole restaurant is responsible for a bakery item?!? *Sigh* sad, but life goes on. I then realized I'd forgotten to get our G-Daughter's juice. After waiting and waiting for the server to appear, so I could flag her down, I was informed that they also didn't have any cranberry juice. Unfortunately our sweet babe doesn't drink Orange or Apple juice. Our food arrives and you can immediately see my husbands gorgeous, nicely crisped hash browns on his plate. Which put the pale with a hint of color ones on my plate to shame. My 2 slices of toast are on a plate with only 1 strawberry jelly. Husbands pancakes have only 1 small cup of syrup. We figure we can ask for more when she comes to refill my husbands soda, that he has now placed his empty cup at the edge of the table so it could be seen. Unfortunately it wasn't until after another party was finally sat next to us that we are able to get our servers attention again. As we're eating I had to cut up some of the broccoli for the babe, so I steal one of her cauliflowers...*bleh* The veggies (regular Cali mix of carrot, broccoli, cauliflower) were so soggy and bland. The cauliflower would mush in your hand, like they took the frozen bag of veg, threw in a pot of water, and forgot them. But we're finally just over it. I only eat half my meal, so we do need a box. That's easier said than done though because after several minutes of waiting to even see our server so we can flag her down, again, I gave up. With an antsy toddler who needs her pull up changed, I end up leaving the husband to handle the rest at the table. The final straw was going in to the ladies room to change the babe. Once I pulled down the changing table I realized I was going to have to sharpen my long forgotten ninja-mom skills and proceed with a standing up change. There was no way I was putting my granddaughter on the flimsy feeling changing table. So I got the privilege of kneeling on their dirty bathroom floor to change the diaper/pull-up of a squirmy toddler that is too close now to nap time. (And yes, I tried to have her stand while I sat on a toilet...but she got too frightened from the "noise" of me trying to flush down the stuff in that toilet before I sat down to change her. It apparently needs an adjustment and wouldn't flush down the paper of whoever had used it previously. And if you're a parent, you know some of these wee ones can get really scared with loud-to-them noises) So overall it was not a pleasant lunch outing for us. Just a bunch of little inconveniences that added up. Usually the service dims the disappointments, but that was not the case on this visit. I should have known better when at lunch time the parking lot was nearly empty. My bad. Wife and I ordered lunch she had the smaller chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and veggies. I had a simple burger combo. Any burger from Carl's , In n Out, Del Taco or Burger King would have been better, Typical frozen patty cooked with zero flavor. Wife's meal was sent back because it was cold, they reheated it in a microwave , never reheat meat in a micro it changes the flavor and texture. Her mashed potatoes taste like the worst boxed instant you can imagine and the so called veggies were no better. This use to be a good place to eat but no longer. Surprised to see a Coco's Bakery that's actually still in business. We found this place on a random drive looking for food. Nostalgia comes to mind as the first impression when walking in. It was a Sunday, early evening with maybe 5-6 tables being served. So as a customer, not busy at all. For the server, it was. She was extremely nice and friendly, but she forgot to give my husband utensils for his order of chicken fried steak. He ended up grabbing a set from an unoccupied table. It wasn't the biggest deal, and the server apologized. I ordered the turkey avocado croissant sandwich. The menu description about it was accurate. You'll have to check it out for yourself to know what I mean. Overall, my experience was purely a nostalgic one, especially because the atmosphere was like going back in time. My seat mates enjoyed their meals and I loved my breakfast burrito with hash browns browns. The hash browns were not overcooked nor oily but crispy and flavorful. My chicken fried steak was soaked in grease on the bottom and was served with sausage gravy like you get with biscuits and gravy. The gravy tasted like flour. Coco's is an old-school favorite that still delivers that quick, classic service just like back in the 80s. The steak was seasoned to perfection and cooked rare--exactly the way I love it. Honestly, I was surprised at just how perfect it was--not what I would've expected, but definitely impressive! Our waitress was attentive and on point, keeping our iced tea and water refilled without us having to ask. She checked in on us several times, making sure we had everything we needed. I should have walked away upon entering. The beam at the entrance was falling apart. Went to be seated and the table was dirty so I moved to another. I ordered cranberry juice and the juice looked very cloudy and you can hear the server chipping the ice in the ice machice so I ordered pepsi which was flat. I then ordered pancakes sausage and hashbrown with over easy eggs. The hashbrown was white not browned at all. Sausage was not cooked and pancakes was not cooked all the way. Saw one of the few cocos left decided to try. Only four guests in restaurant and still a bad experience. I ordered a lumber jack breakfast and my wife ordered a asian chicken salad. We saw her salad sitting up.on counter and my breakfast without eggs, getting cold. Her salad had maybe two ounces at best , 90% lettuce. The server/manager did not want to add more chicken to the salad you needed a microscope to see chicken. Manager could have offered more chicken. When I met someone here for lunch, I described it as: easy access to parking, ample parking, basic and straightforward American cuisine plus they have air conditioning. Coco's met all these expectations.The service was quick and attentive. As you can see from my pic of the Chicken Cobb Salad, it's about as basic and straightforward as you can get. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. The ingredients were fresh and simple. There was enough that I didn't leave hungry, either. This is a place that I believe will have something for just about everybody. BTW, every holiday season my employer gets their pies for every employee from here - which we all look forward to. read more

I was excited try Coco's again when I saw a sign on the door announcing new ownership. The food quality and service had gotten so bad that I thought things would definitely improve. Based on my experience today, it's actually worse. I arrived by myself at 11:15am and there were 3 parties on the Waitlist even though there were several open tables and they were only seating one third of the restaurant. It took 20 minutes to get seated, and another 10 minutes before my server took my order. As I waited for my food, I noticed there were only 2 servers with one of them (my server) greeting and seating guests and taking payments in addition to covering half of the tables. When my server brought my Cinnamon Roll French Toast combo, the French Toast was obviously burnt. But, she never came back to check on me so I ate what I could and left. This location has always operated understaffed but they at least had a cashier or manager to take names and payments. Today was another unacceptable experience and another example why Coco's has closed so many locations. read more

First thing.....the state of the restaurant. Not only is it outdated, but it's filthy and falling apart. They have duct tape on the booth seats. When it rains the back room floods, they put out buckets to try and catch the water, which it dose absolutely nothing. The carpet stinks, has been there since the 70's, the tables wobble the windows are always dirty AND!!!!! TO TOP IT OFF!!! there's a woman, who I hear lives in the motel next door who is constantly bringing her dogs over to shit and piss in the grass!! All the way up to the front door, and the night I was there, I watched her argue with the manager about it, and low and behold as they were arguing her dog took a big shit right by the front door wtf??? All you smell is dog shit!!!! The bathroom are disgusting and my husband told me the urinal in the mens bathroom dosen't flush and that it smells strong of piss. The women's bathroom isn't any better. Food was not good my sons chicken tenders were completely raw and we had to send them back. They were out of sodas and we've seen them serving from a 2lit bottle. which is just kinda strange, don't you guys have a coke machine??? The food isn't consistent, they'll have good fish and chips one week and the next it's almost like they ran down to Walmart and got frozen tv dinners. They never have prime rib, even though it's advertised, we've tried to order it twice, and half the stuff on their menu is available also, and the soups were cold and way to salty. The chocolate cream pie was almost watery and have a sour taste plus it had a pink tinge to which was just disgusting, my son didn't take more than a bite. Nor to mention the pies have gotten smaller and more expensive then. I don't know who is running the restaurant now, but since Nikki left it's gone down hill, it's almost the new manager is cutting corners wherever he can. The only thing that is keeping this place open is the servers. Lily and Laurie are amazing. I've also noticed that alot of the regular workers are no longer there. Anyway, our visit was wonderful and the food was consistent with times gone by. We did "take out" and they included everything without a mistake. Just went in today approximately 7:30 p.m. To order a banana cream pie. Was that the corner a server came up and asked how she could help me and I told her would like to order a banana cream pie. She just didn't want to go to the back to look. I proceeded to drive home I proceeded to drive home. When I got home I thought let me call just to see what they say. And the person that answered the phone was a female and she proceeded to tell me. Yes we have plenty of banana cream pies. Why am I so angry? That was just plain lazy of the female server at the counter to just blow me off And not proceed to sell a pie which they have. On 6/11/24 at approximately 3:50pm, my Wife and I entered the restaurant and was seated near the parking lot. We informed the waitress we just wanted pie, water and coffee. My Wife ordered the apple pie alamode with water and I ordered pecan pie with coffee. We sat at our booth literally 25 minutes before we received our water and coffee. 5 minutes later, we received our slices of pie. However, I specifically told the waitress I didn't want ice cream with my pecan pie yet she brought it with the ice cream. I didn't eat the ice cream but we were still charged for it. It wasn't very busy but it seemed like the waitress was too busy entertaining the Redlands Unified School District Police (4 men) that were seated near us to help anyone else. Went to Coco's for the first time and was very shocked! We ordered breakfast food and it all turned out great. The coconut cream pie was so yummy. I was shocked because it's so much tastier than some of the other quick diners around. Our service provided was great, coffee was always being refilled, and the restaurant is very spacious and looked like it could even accommodate to big families/parties. Definitely is on my list for go-to breakfast for when I'm too lazy to cook! read more

The first sign that Coco's is not any way to being the great restaurant it was in the past, is the ABC Liquor License posting of ownership change. Lena Brands is the new owner of Coco's and their website states they they purchase "distressed restaurants", which correctly describes Coco's. The saddest thing about this brand is they don't care about the condition of the inside of the restaurant with all the broken wood molding, the frayed fabric on the booth seating, the torn/missing vinyl trim on the bottom of the booths, and the poor condition of the tables and chairs. If they don't care enough to fix the problems you can see, just imagine how unclean, and unsanitary the condition of the kitchen that prepares your food must be because you are not able to see any part of the kitchen area. Another sad fact is the staff has given up on providing good service that we formerly received. My wife ordered a Club Sandwich that the menu described as having sliced Turkey but was made with tasteless ham and my Tomato soup had more of a ketchup flavor than a soup flavor. It was easier to eat what was served than wait another 30 minutes for the correct meals. read more
