We haven't had Coco's in years but wanted to stick with a familiar restaurant chain for our take-out brunch. We looked online ahead of time and picked out what we wanted from their online menu. However, when it came to ordering the food, the menu options were different! My parents wanted items from the Club 55 menu but they weren't listed in the oder menu! So I ended up ordering most of the meals from the main menu. But the omelette we originally wanted (spinach and mushroom) from the Club 55 menu wasn't on the online order menu anywhere! Not even as a regular meal option. So we ordered the California omelette instead. I do like how their omelette meals come with a side of pancakes. Always good to have sweet and savory together! I also appreciate that you can substitute the pancakes for other breads as well. I docked a star because they messed up our take out order! We supposed to get a croissant with one of our meals and, of course, they didn't include it. I did email the restaurant and the manager got back to me instantly apologizing and told me she would be forwarding my message to a higher up manager but I never heard anything after that. So don't expect to get anything if the mess up your order, which isn't cool. Why why why coco? I just wanted a slice of coconut cream pie. And I received a container of absolute mush. If the pie wasn't set, don't sell it to customers? Or perhaps look into if someone made this batch too loose. But it's terrible to send this, a runny bowl of coconut mush to a customer and expect them to be happy about it. Also the rest of the container was perfectly clean, as in the pie wasn't mishandled or dropped, etc. no "bits of pie" on the rest of the inside of the container. This is purely on your establishment. Please have some type of quality control before sending melted pie out to folks. I completely wasted my $ with this and even worse, I felt too weirded out by the coco mush to even try to eat it. Racist white waiters and hostesses working here. Twice we've come and twice have been deliberately skipped ahead of white parties. I'm hispanic and came with my girlfriend. At the first incident, we were seated last behind 2 groups of white parties, and they apologized for skipping us. NBD. The second time, there was an african American couple who had been waiting, and no one else. We signed in and waited. 3 separate but larger parties of caucasians came in a few minutes after that. Our waitress was decent - she offered us water refills throughout our evening, but forget to offer coffee refills for the one who ordered coffee. All the pies were delicious! Coming here has reminded me of why sometimes it is not good to go back into the past, and why we need to move into the present. There wasn't a wait, which is a good thing for a Saturday morning where most of our local choices were packed with 30-70 minute waits. The food is standard quality, nothing to write home about. Most come to Coco's because of visitation with grandparents, business meeting or due to a pie craving. We ordered kids French Toast with a side of Scrambled Eggs and the Eggs and New York Steak. The kids order was just right for my buddy, but i found the steak was rather fatty, expected from a chain restaurant. The restaurant was clean and the meal was quick to be delivered, which gave us a head start on our day. I was extremely impressed by Diane's constant visits to check on our meal or to offer a refill on coffee. She was never rude, rushed, or irritated by questions or choices. Alas, we were on the road and still pieless late at night with a dessert party scheduled the next night for Christmas Eve. And, she was able to secure a Lemon Meringue Pie to be held for us 1 hour. After picking up a Pecan Pie at Coco's on Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino, I made it to the register at the Redlands Coco's 63 minutes after Diane placed the order, and a Lemon Meringue Pie was still waiting for us. It was lovely when intact. And, though the lofty pie lost some beauty when being severed into individual slices the next night, it was very lemony and tasted great--perhaps the best Lemon Meringue Pie I and others who raved about it had ever experienced. Today was the first time I stopped to rate the bad service that I received from one of the male employees who seated us. He escorted my husband and I who had been waiting for some time prior to his arrival at a booth seat near the door. When we asked if we could move to another booth, not near door that was vacant approximately 3 booths away he became angry, picked up the menus he had placed on the table, told us quite loudly "seat yourselves," and took the menus with him as he walked away from us. Since we are both African American we were concerned that his rude and unkind demeanor was specifically directed at us for no reason other than our race. I am so happy Coco's is making their Prime Rib again! (They had stopped when they could no longer have dine in service due to Covid). They now have it on Fridays after 4 pm, and Sat/Sun after 11 am until sold out. I got it to go although they do have outdoor dining now and I just heard some restaurants in Redlands are now open for indoor dining! (But I haven't verified if Coco's is, so please check before you go). I got the larger portion of Prime Rib, Baked Potato & veggies. The Prime Rib was excellent. I went right at 4 pm. 20 years ago this Coco's location was clean and had terrific food. Boy have times changed. Couple issues with this place. Was there on October 27th and had the steak and eggs. Was absolutely horrid. The steak was probably the toughest and most flavorless steak I've ever had. Walmart has much better meat and they charged a premium price for it. Second issue is the interior is in much need of a refresh. Everything from the carpet to the wood molding damage, falling off and coming apart really set the stage for a ghetto location. Same thing happened to the Marie Calendars down the street has happened to this Coco's. Owners wouldn't put any money into it to make repairs or deep clean. I was one of two customers patronizing the place and now I understand why. I can't imagine they'll be in business much longer if they don't get with the program. Pick up the trash in the parking lot and for god sake clean the windows where the customers eat. Was pretty disgusting. One other issue is that I paid for my breakfast using a credit card and the charge showed up this morning, December 21st almost 2 months later. I don't get it? The pies are all they should stick to. I ordered the Thanksgiving Family feast for 10-12 people. I had multiple sides missing and maybe 10 slices of ham and the turkey was just not good. It was all dark meat and looked like it had just been yanked off the turkey in fistfuls. There also was not enough turkey for 10 people. It was maybe 4-5 handfuls of meat.
