I was very fond of Coda Bakery in their previous location and the food is just as good in the new space! I usually get the fried egg banh mi but on my most recent visit I made myself try the tofu version because I had heard it was also delicious. I think I prefer the egg but the tofu one is a lot less messy. The coffee is also top notch. read more

I love Coda bakery. It's my go to place to get lunch and snacks for home when I am in Albuquerque. Vietnamese food is by far my favorite cuisine. I love to eat the Homemade Tofu I usually but 3 plain and 3 onion, then I reheat and eat them throughout the next couple of days. The outsides of the tofu have a nice crisp chew texture while the insides are perfectly creamy soft tofu. I usually try a different Bahn Mi every time recently I have been very obsessed with the Heo Nuong the hosue marinated grilled pork. I consistently buy the Goi Cuon Chao Tom the spring rolls with pork and shrimp sausage. If you are lucky enough to make it while they still have pate chaud, get a couple. I prefer the pork but the chicken in also very tasty plus I love to finish off my order with two sesame balls (not to be missed). The inside can be crowded so I like to order ahead. Everyone that works there is helpful and educated on the menu so they can help out. Also I never remember to take photos of my food because I am usually so excited to eat it all. read more

So taking everybodies advice I went to Coda's bakery and got the beef lemongrass Bahn mi and the grilled chicken spring rolls. The Bahn mi's could have used some sliced jalapeños and maybe a little more spicy mayo, but they were delicious. The spring rolls were amazing. We definetly will go back. I tend to think nobody is perfect, but i've eaten here at least 10 times and never walked away unsatisfied. Their food is top notch, Iced coffee, raisin pastry fantastic (i know, raisin pastry in a Vietnamese place.. ? but you have to try it), spring rolls, sandwiches..never had anything i didn't like. They are friendly, fast, the place is clean and everybody is smiling and friendly... what's not to like. If i met the owner, i would beg them to open a place downtown so i could eat there for lunch once a week. Selfish huh? a store for me? I like Banh Mi Coda. They have great sandwiches (and sometimes some Vietnamese rice noodles/desserts). Most people go for their sandwiches (and I believed I saw some people got their baguettes, too). I have very high recommendations for their grilled pork banh mi. It is excellent and sort of surprised me that I could get something that tasted close to original even in ABQ. Their other desserts (in the open fridge) I had tried. They were good..but perhaps..not always super tasty as I would have liked. That said, their sandwiches are awesome. Check those out when you have time. It's a nice grab and go (and sometimes long queue)..but it's as hassle free/clean as you can get having a banh mi sandwich from there. read more

I recently relocated to ABQ and was told about Coda. From my experiences it is really good food with a very attentive staff. On my last visit the server misunderstood my order. When I picked up the order she corrected it right away and sent me home with a free order of fried green onion tofu and a smile. I can't recommend the food and service more. read more

Coda Bakery is a Vietnamese bakery and restaurant off Louisiana in a strip mall. Their business is geared toward to-go food and counter service. They have a few benches outside and then tables inside; none get table service. As of late September 2023, they are construction is underway at a new location. I had a Bánh Mì Xíu Mai, which is a Vietnamese pork meatball sandwich served on a baguette for $8.50. It's their #4. I also had a bành patê sô, also known as a patê chaud, which is a flaky, buttery pastry shell with a meatball inside. It's a holdover from French colonialism, from which the pastry derived. The bánh mì was fine; I've had better in Albuquerque. I wish it would have been served with fish sauce in a ramekin or on the table to add to the sandwich. The bánh pâte wasn't particularly my "cup of tea". It was mostly all pastry, though once I got to the center I found the meatball. It was quite greasy because of the butter. Be aware because of the location indigent people will come in and ask dining patrons for change or to sell items. Our group experienced that twice during the lunch hour. The venue was very busy and the restaurant is quite popular. I had been wanting to try it for some time, so I'm glad I did, but I likely wouldn't return. read more

OMG, their bahn mi is so good. They make their own fresh baked bread for them, and it's fluffy on the inside and crusty on the outside and so good my mouth waters thinking about it. They make their own tofu and it's great! You can order blocks of it fresh and fried to take home and make your own dish with too. The fried sesame balls are big and so good. They also have other Vietnamese treats and foods that are typically very hard to find in the U.S. Great place! It does get a long line at lunchtime. This restaurant was recommended to me by several of my coworkers, so we finally had to check it out. It was packed on a Saturday for lunch, but a table cleared up pretty quickly, and most people were getting takeout. The service was also very fast despite the long line. My husband and I each had a Banh mi. We tried the grilled pork and the beef lemongrass. Both were good, but we preferred the pork. I really liked the fresh crunch from the produce and herbs on the sandwiches. We also got a strawberry smoothie and a Vietnamese iced coffee which were delicious and refreshing. Coda Bakery is a cute Vietnamese restaurant with delicious sandwiches (Banh Mi) and bowls. The ingredients are fresh and they have the best tofu I've ever had!! It's fried with delicious Korean BBQ sauce. I get it every time. You can get it as a noodle bowl or even as a salad bowl!! Healthy and yummy Service is usually very quick also. Banh Mi Coda was seriously poppin for lunch today, but with great food at affordable prices who wouldn't want to stop by? I stopped in at peak lunch hour to pick up my usual banh mi with marinated pork, sesame ball, and Thai tea with boba. They never fail to impress with really good, consistent foods. The service was great, despite being super busy they got everyone through pretty quickly. I didn't eat my lunch there but they do have a new little outdoors seating area. Indoor seating has been closed since the beginning of COVID, but to be fully honest I've always just grabbed and gone. As always, the marinated pork banh mi was super good. The baguettes are pretty big and they provide well proportioned meat and veggie servings. I loved the Thai tea, the boba was super soft and you could tell it was prepared well. Overall: Coda Bakery is a one stop shop offering a variety of Vietnamese food that is almost as good as the options in Orange County, California. Food: 4.5 Banh Mi Dac Biet: This comes with a variety of cold cuts, mayo/butter, pate, pickled daikon and radish, cucumbers, cilantro, and sliced jalapeños. The meat is good, and the pate is actually better than pate that normally comes in banh mi in California. I appreciate how thinly they slice the jalapeños too. Banh Cuon Thit: These are steamed rice rolls with a minced pork and wood ear mushroom filling. These were as good as ones in California, but I would have liked if there was a little more filling. Their fish sauce is a little too sour, usually fish sauce for banh cuon is a little sweeter, and their fried shallots weren't good. Service: 5 The employees were very patient answering our questions. The shop was bare except for benches along one wall. All the activity took place behind the counters. They were fast to fulfill my order as a steady stream of customers continued to arrive, even though they were to close in a few minutes. After reading just about every single review, we tried Coda yesterday. I had the fried onion tofu Banh Mi and my husband had the meatball Banh Mi. We shared an order of Shrimp Spring Rolls. My husband also bought some sesame balls, however, when he got home with our order, they were not in the bag. Our food was amazing! Coming from CA, Coda Bakery really exceeded my expectations for banh mi in New Mexico! I could tell it was legit when there were a couple Vietnamese grannies ordering before me. We got 2 banh mis: the #1 and #6. The veggies and fillings were authentic and fresh. Some like thicker breads but I liked the baguette thin. I have TMJ so my jaw was super sore after eating it, but so worth it lol! In addition, I got banh bo nuong, a pandan honeycomb cake. The softest texture I've had for it and I really loved it. It was almost perfect but the guy who gave me my order forgot one item so I had to go back in to grab it. Wasn't a huge problem but If I didn't check the bag before I drove off my item would have been missing! read more

I hadn't eaten at Coda Bakery in a few years, but since I had to go to Ta Lin I decided to stop in. I was surprised to see that they have removed their indoor seating; the benches along the wall are still there, but I had to go back out to my car to eat my banh mi. Thankfully, it was raining so I didn't roast while eating! Time to talk about my sandwich - I had the Vietnamese ham which was delicious. Tasty meat, perfectly pickled veggies, all on a warm, crispy baguette. I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee which really hit the spot. Road trip! Honestly, you can't visit Santa Fe without at least saying hey to the folks in Albuquerque (affectionately known to us as Alba-que-que, but I digress). These guys make an excellent grilled pork banh mi and an even more excellent fried tofu (which was so good we went back for seconds). Their spring rolls were also refreshing.
