First of all we come to Cody's and have all over Florida for a long time. Tonight was not their best effort. The waitress Irene was great as was the salad. My wife had fried haddock which was very good, as usual. Tonight I decided to try their steak, what a mistake. The first 8 oz Filet Mignon was burned but looked like a nice piece of meat. The second steak was cooked medium, as ordered but was the fattiest piece of crap ever put in front of me by anyone. This was supposed to be their best cut, pure garbage. The manager (Phyllis) never showed or apologized but gave us a $5.00 comp. I took that more as an insult, an apology would have been better. Bottom line we'll go back but never order the steak again, ever! This place needs to train its cooks and needs better management. read more

My husband and I went to Cody's on Thursday 2/15/24. We both ordered burgers . My hubby had a bacon cheese burger with regular fries and I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. As an app, we ordered a half order of onion rings on a skewer. The onion rings and the sweet potato fries came to us burnt to a crisp. When I asked the waiter, Ian, for another order, not burned, he snappily replied that all the sweet potato fries will be burned as well as the onion rings because they have been that way all day. We had take away for the second time from Cody's and expected the food to be hot since we are like five minutes away. For the second time the food was greasy, close to cool and not very tasty. My only other option is to possibly for for a third try and actually go in and do a sit down to see if the food is any better. I will give them that chance and then write my third. review on them. I'm just coming on here to put a reply to the gentleman below me. I had checked on you multiple times for the soup of the day that you had ordered and everything was fine. When I was dropping a drink off to a guest next to you and I saw my manager talking to you I asked if everything was OK and that was when you put your hand up IN MY FACE and yelled to me that I needed to let you talk for yourself. I was 100% shocked because I was confused about why you had literally just yelled that at me (which is one of the reasons my Manager asked you not to do that) then going on to insult me by calling me low class, you called my manager low class. I never once raised my voice to you until about two minutes into you yelling at me, INSULTING me and I told you to go ahead and continue that conversation somewhere else because I was not going to be talked to like that. Everyone at the bar was extremely confused as well as it was happening. You had eaten that whole bowl of soup and then complained that you did not like it in which my manager comped the soup off and I asked her to please cash you out because at that point I had had enough. When you were walking away you said goodbye rude Bar Maid and I absolutely did respond to you and say goodbye rude man. Now with that being said, it's unfortunate that you have to lie about the situation, and I'm sure that if anyone else who had been at the bar that day gets on here to read the review you posted they would 100% agree with me. Never once did I ever tell you I was the bar manager, and not one time did I ever act as though I was " so much better " than anyone else. First time I went, they had music blasting inside but live music outside. It was like battle of the bands because you couldn't listen to either because they were playing together. So obnoxious we almost left but we were starving. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Second time went in late at night. Everyone seemed to be angry and not happy to be there at all. "What do you want" was snipped at us when ordering. We got a chicken Cesar salad. Little bit of lettuce, spoon full of cheese and a couple bites of chicken and balsamic dressing is what was given. Order was to go. Paid $40.00 for these tiny salads. No croutons. Nothing Cesar about this salad. Won't be back again! read more

Visited the newer Ocala location for the first, and last, time. Our server, Patrick, was terrific!! The ambiance of the place was nice, but the temperature in the place was frigid. Patrick turned off the fan directly above us, which helped. Food for the 3 of us arrived at wildly separate times, and one order had to be returned because it was burnt. One of us ordered the veggie quesadilla....it literally had huge chunks of raw cauliflower, broccoli and carrot wheels inside. Seriously. Like you're served when you order steamed veggies. They weren't even grilled. Like they'd just dumped a portion of veggies out of the bag onto a flour tortilla and sprinkled a little cheese over it and grilled the tortilla. They had the nerve to charge $14.98 for this! Asked for the manager a few times and, when we finally got one, even she said she'd ordered one once and never ordered it again. After trying to just adjust the bill by 15%, she finally comped the largely inedible and totally disappointing menu item. read more

I ordered garlic wings and they were the worst wings I can ever remember, when I lived in Citrus County FL I would get them at the Cody's in Crystal River and they were to die for. I returned another day and ordered the chicken fried chicken and I guess because I complained about the wings my salad container was totally smashed and I had to put it in another container while still in the bag, also the buns were like hockey pucks and the cinnamon butter was open and melted on everything. We ordered appetizers and entrees, they came out 5 minutes after each other. The cheese sticks were cold, the wings were warm not hot, the sauces were half filled in the little plastic containers. My husband and I went to Cody's in Ocala, Fl. We started visiting them when it first opened. We were so excited to see them open in the area. At first, the service was good, the food was hot and fresh and we were so happy that we purchased several gift cards for gifts and personal use. Since then, we have visited at least 6-8 times. It has slowly degraded to the point we regret purchasing several hundred dollars worth of gift cards. We ate there today for the last time. Today's issue had to do with the BLT with fries and my husband ordered the BLT with coleslaw. Simple sandwich, it should be quick since. we were on our way to an Ocala horse auction as a spectator and wanted to eat and run. The restaurant was not that busy, the bar had a dozen open seats and there were multiple open seats in the main eating area. We thought, perfect, we can get in and out. Well, 30 minutes later, we FINALLY got served. The toast was cold, the bacon was terribly soggy and uncooked and the fries were luke warm. We called the manager over, and explained our issue. He seemed attentive but annoyed. He remade them and gave us $5.00 off for our trouble. The money isn't the main thing. We were left feeling frustrated when a basic BLT is so screwed up we had to go through the complaint process. Sadly, each time over the past 1/2 dozen times we have been disappointed in the food. The last time we went, the lettuce in their main salad was tinged brown and soggy. Yuck! We are done. Way to lose locals. read more

If I could give Zero stars, I would. This place is a train wreck. First, upon trying to call in my order 5 times on Sunday evening 4/22/23 , the call did not go through. Instead I got a message saying the "call could not be placed at this time. Try back again". When I got to the restaurant to order in person, I inquired about their phone line. I was told by the Hostess that "sometimes our phones don't work". How can you have a restaurant that offers carry-out and have a phone line that doesn't work? A nearby female Manager who overheard me then went on to inform me that she "isn't the phone company and has no control over how the phone line works". That remark was inappropriate in my opinion, but unfortunately fits with the rest of my experience with Cody's. I ordered chicken wings and was informed they were out of them. I ordered an 8oz. filet that appeared to be 6oz. at best. I ordered key lime pie and found when I got home that I did not receive it although I paid for it. Lastly, I ordered a bowl of French Onion soup. What I received was probably 4oz. of broth that was tasteless and cold. I did get almost an entire onion cut in huge chunks however, and a piece of bread the size of a crouton at the bottom. The soup was tepid at best and equivalent to Campbell's brand. Literally the worst I've ever been served at a restaurant. So disappointing as that was my entire meal. The rest of my order was for my husband. I drove back to the restaurant to ask for my money back for the pie I didn't receive and the awful $6 soup. I was refunded, but I will not be choosing Cody's again. I've been to several codys over the years. I anticipated this one's opening as it's closer to my house than my favorite Codys in Crystal River. I like the layout of the place. The bar is really big and has an outside seating. I tried sitting out there but the fans were blowing air directly into my eyes and I couldn't stand it so relocated inside. inside the glass rack blocks my view looking forward. I know picky but true so I'm mentioning it. I also don't care for the Bar menu at the 200 Codys. I also think the Beer prices are higher even though you get two for 1. After a few visits Codys in Crystal River was having a cus appreciation day. I thought it was a corporate thing but apparently not because I ask the bartender about it and she knew nothing. I like the building but think I will go a few extra miles to the Crystal River Codys who go the extra mile for their customers. read more

We moved to the OTOW in Ocala area in January 2024 and have been frequenting the local Cody's. My wife and I typically sit at the bar for drinks and food when we dine out here in the states or as we travel around the world. We're experienced many awesome bartenders over the years but must say Natasha at the OTOW Cody's is one of the best. She has such a great personality that is so well suited for her job and she makes a great connection to all at the bar. She keeps us coming back to Cody's. read more

No refills on drinks, had to ask for bread, they forgot the soup and salad, then endless salad came and not offered a refill on that either. Burger was squished so bad it was a hockey puck, no juice. Paid extra for sweet potato fries. They were old refires, meaning they took old cooked fries and threw them back in the fryer to make them seem fresh. They were stale, crisp and dry. Wife got coconut shrimp platter, very over cooked and burnt. Management didn't come around and check on us and the server didn't seem to care either. Not our usual Cody's experience. New restaurant too, that's disappointing. Suggest turning a few of the lights down in the place, super bright. Sensory overload. read more

This new Cody's is the worst of all other Cody's I've been to. the old location was 100 times better, Crystal river and the village is way better . This Owner's attitude sucks, bad service. Employees don't care, lazy and food sucks!! There better food at Elmers then this place. They claim 2 for 1 booze yet it's limited not like Dock Side Gators 2 for 1 happy hour all day everyday all their top shelf booze. I will never return the food is bad I ordered prime rib had to send it back twice it was dry and gray over cooked I ordered med rare got well done twice got up and left. read more

My birthday today and our son decided to treat us to dinner. First time trying Cody's carryout. My husband ordered there so the food would be still warm/hot. Room temp. when he arrived home 5 minute drive. Burgers were black on the bottom - ordered medium. Was told to bring burgers back to have re-cooked. Salmon overcooked. Sweet potato dry. I ate this. Fajitas were good. Not good enough to try the place again. I thought their expertise was in grilling foods. I hope it was an off day and they improve with time. read more

Cody's is a fun place. It reminds me of Texas Roadhouse but with local charm. The staff were friendly. Our waitress, Kristina, was awesome. Oh and they have free peanuts. read more

We visited Cody's on Wednesday, hostess sat us @ 11:05AM We were the first customers in the restaurant. We ordered 3 bowls of French onion soup and two burgers with fries, 1 burger medium, 1 medium rare. 11:45AM bowls of soup arrived, one with visibly burnt cheese on the top. We were shocked they served it. The burger arrived shortly after. Both were on the rate side. The fries were cold. Sent one burger back. When they replaced it, still rare. We did not have time to wait fir another burger, so ate around the cooked edge. When we mentioned it, they discounted it $2.40. And...the manager apologized. The last 3 times we have eaten at Cody's it has been disappointing in the food department. Might want to consider another venue. read more

We love Cody's. When they first opened the food was much better than today. Example: Their steaks were tender and tasty. Now, the steaks, "Filets", which means the cut of meat not "Tenderloin" as one might think. The menu does not say tenderloin so there. The steaks IMO are either a sub par cut of meat or prepared/processed which is becoming more and more common with cost of beef these days. Not sure about the burgers but I like them. If this is what is being offered, if I want a steak I will go somewhere else that offers a true cut of beef. Service is always great. read more

Ate at Cody's tonight maybe third or fourth time in the last month. Food is usually good, and was Ok today. Service is usually scetchy, but reached an all time low today. Waitress could not get our orders straight, I got my food after 4 in our party had finished their meals. Perhaps the worst was her dropping an f bomb when one in our party complained. Terrible, Rude service, and 2 of the worst prime ribs we have ever had. Then they refused to make it right because we had eaten a couple of bites of their raw meat. Went last week and food was Horrible! And the service was just mediocre.I ordered prime rib medium and was so overcooked and tough I didn't even eat it. my husband ordered a cheeseburger medium and it literally was charred black. All the server said was sorry it wasn't what you expected. the rolls were hot and delicious but for $45.00 plus a tip, it was NOT worth the money. I even contacted them online when I got home but got no response. I won't be wasting my money there anymore since it seems to me that they don't care what the customers want. read more

Took forever to get our food, Waiter who was a skinny redheaded sorta guy kept telling us "Waiting on the fries" "Waiting on this" Waiting on that"\ Then rthe food arrived. It was just burgers and they were wayy undercoked. Ate mine anyway as I was starving by then . Sent wifes back. Well apparently the manager saw it happening and gave us $2 off a $50 bill and apparently this pissed Redhead boy off. Then some other little redhead boy off. So he tells his little waitress friend he did nothing wrong. Maybe but SOMEONE did. So she walks up and says sometihing about he said he didnt do anything wrong. That's when I gave her what for. Our party of 3 arrived at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon. The patio area was pleasant and the majority of the tables were not occupied. Our order was taken about 10 mins later... beverages and peanuts were delivered soon after .... Then it all went downhill. 45 minutes later the salad bowl and bread was served. Another 24 mins ensued with no food served. I asked for the manager. Alvarez was to take ownership of this poor service. Finally after another 12-15 mins later the food was served. My ordered was incorrect and the server Zach started to question me and tell me what I had ordered. He was completely wrong and very testy at this point. The manager never came back to check on our food order ....a really bad sign. My correct order finally arrived the other 2 people had missteps to their meals with over done food and not what they wanted. After total frustration, I washed the hostess to again speak with the manager. Another person , Philly stepped forward and listened to this saga, she assured us that we should come again and ask for her and apologize for the nearly 2 hrs of frustration and annoyance with such a poor experience. Cody's has a captive Audience because there are few options in this area .... But we will not be back. read more

I had a very nasty experience with the manager. We had been waiting for an inside table for a while when a couple came in got a buzzer and sat in the waiting area. To be truthful the man was using a walker but they were seated in the same couches as everybody else. A booth inside became available and we had been watching and thought we were next. The manager came over and sat the new couple. I went up to ask where we were in line and I could see they had highlighted the couple which was 5 rows below us. I asked why they were seated before everyone else and the girl got nervous and called over kaykay. In fact she said specifically "I am not getting in trouble for this". KayKay first said they were there before us, and I said "I saw them come in and get their buzzer", she started to get defensive and then offered to seat me sat the bar (which I could have sat at 10mins earlier). I asked for her card, and she started to get it for me then she said "no i will not give you my card you need to figure it out" Then I asked for her manager and she said she was the general manager and answered to no-one. I asked for a corporate number and she refuse, so I took a picture of her so I had her name and attitude which is pretty present in the picture. She then said get out of my restaurant and proceeded to chase me out the door. Then the truth came out, she said "your an asshole, why are you mad that I seemed a little old crippled couple in front of you". She never waited for an answer but it was because I had to get back to work and the wait was long enough. She then said I was not allowed back in her restaurant. When I tried to respond, she accused me of being aggressive and said she was going to take down my license plate so she could make sure I dont come back. If she had not started with lying to me about why she bumped them in the line that might have been the end of the convo. I've never seen a manager act like this before, i'm sure she has some other pressure in her life that caused this because her response should not be chasing customers away. Can I get a call back from someone with authority to address the situation. Her employees seemed to realize she was wrong, but were afraid of her. read more

Took the opportunity for a first visit to this recently opened Cody's. Figured it would take a couple of weeks for their operation to smooth out. Have been what I would consider unfair complaints. So today was the day. Lots of cars in the parking lot at this lunch time. Went in and placed our names on the waiting and were told 20 minute wait. Turned out to be less than 10 minutes. We're quickly greeted by our server Karen. Drink order was taken and our menu choices were made. In short order our bar drinks were delivered by another friendly server. (PS drinks in afternoon are two for one.) Since we were doing a lighter lunch order did not include Cody's salad but for a reasonable price we ordered the salad for one and both had more than enough to split. French dip and bacon cheeseburger were both well prepared and tasty. Server was attentive and seem interested in how we were enjoying our meal. Following meal check was delivered quickly with comment no rush. Lastly manager stopped by our table to ask how our meal went. Bottom line: acceptable wait time. Friendly service Excellent food preparation Staff interested in making our visit enjoyable Will be back. read more

Went to Cody's last Thursday 8/4. We were told 5-10 min. After about 15 min they seated a couple that had just come in. We inquired why?? The hostess did not want to explain cause the manager KayKay did it. KayKay came over and proceeded to tell us they where before us. We had just watched them walk through the door so that was a lie. Also if you looked at the list they were below us and were yellowed out. He asked for her card. She started to take it out but....KayKay then got mad at my husband and told us to get out.
